Jack Keeley, 66
Edward ``Jack" Keeley died Wednesday morning in St. James Community Hospital.
Jack was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Spokane, to Edward and Helen (Ronan) Keeley. The family moved to Butte where he attended Immaculate Conception Elementary and Boys' Central High School. He graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane in 1955 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a sales engineer for Westinghouse Corp., often traveling throughout the country as part of his training. He met his wife, Patricia Quinn, on one of these trips. They married in 1961 and settled in Butte, where they reared four children, Ellen, Beth, Maura and John.
Jack was active in a variety of clubs and organizations, including the Butte Exchange Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a charter member and longtime president of the Butte Multiple Sclerosis Society. He will be remembered with a smile for his annual raffle promising the winner ``a lovely afghan." During his later years, Jack spent much of his time cheering on the Butte Central Maroons, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Butte Copper Kings and the Boston Red Sox.
A real blessing in Jack's life was the support and company of his faithful friends and family. The love and care given by his brother, Tom, was especially appreciated and will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Eddie Keeley.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; children and their spouses, Ellen and Duk Oh of Portland, Ore., Beth and Mark Munro of Brooklyn, N.Y., Maura and Steve Dunn of Seattle, and John and Mollie Keeley of Butte; grandson, Riley Oh; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jeri Keeley of Butte; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Joe Devlin of Bonner; many loving nieces and nephews across the country. Close friends and family in Butte and Boston will sadly miss him.
Visitation starts at 5 p.m. Sunday evening in Duggan Dolan Mortuary with vigil services at 6:30 p.m. Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Monday.
Memorials: Butte Multiple Sclerosis Support Group, c/o 2200 Cross Dr., Butte, or the Butte Catholic Education Fund.

Jessie Lasich, 92
DILLON -- Jessie Lee Lasich died Thursday morning in her Dillon home.
Jessie was born Oct. 4. 1907, at New Rockford, N.D. She was the oldest of four children born to Lee and Leone Violett. The family moved to Montana's Liberty County when she was small.
She attended Montana State Normal College in Dillon and also college in Havre. She taught six years before she was married to Matt Lasich on May 23, 1934, at Butte; he died in September 1989.
She and her husband enjoyed many social activities. They were members of the Old Fashioned Dancing Club for many years. She belonged to the Home Demonstration Club for many years and enjoyed the lessons presented at those meetings. She especially enjoyed gar dening at her home.
Her brother, Willis, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother, Archie Violett of Chester; sister, Nellie Doornbos of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Brundage Funeral Home, Dillon.
Memorials: Barrett Hospital Foundation or local Dillon library.

Helen Sparks, 79
Helen M. Sparks of the Waterford died Wednesday evening.
She was born July 7, 1920, in Helena to Ray and Rosemary (McMasters) Watson, and came to Butte as a child in 1922. She attended local schools and Butte Business College.
Helen worked as a cashier and bookkeeper for the American and Rialto theaters. She was an instructor in occupational therapy at Galen State Hospital. She had also been an instructor for Nancy Taylor Charm and Modeling Schools, which she taught at Butte Business College, later becoming a co-owner of the college. She retired as a secretary for Butte High School.
She was an active volunteer for Paul Clark Home McDonald's Family Place and was a past president of Soroptimist International. She was past president of Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Helen loved the last years she lived at the Waterford where she had many dear friends, both residents and staff alike. She was an elegant lady amidst elegant surroundings.
On Feb. 22, 1941, she married Evan L. Roberts, who was killed in action in World War II. On Oct. 28, 1945, she married Robert Sparks; he died April 7, 1971.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Keeley of Butte; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Kathy Sparks of Bakersfield, Calif., Rob and Linda Sparks of Bigfork; granddaughter, Kelli Keeley of Missoula; sister and brother-in-law, Arloa and Don Demmons of Butte; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Betty Obertreis of San Diego; sisters-in-law, Lucy Watson of Florida, Carlene Watters of Oregon and Judy Sparks of Kentucky; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Coyne of Butte; numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, cremation has taken place in Butte. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday at a time to be announced.

Kenneth Stone, 73
ANACONDA -- Kenneth Stone died Tuesday.
He was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Anaconda to Robert and Hazel Stone, long-time residents.
He attended local schools and served in the Army in World War II.
He worked at the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway, Washoe Smelter, Berkeley Pit and Milwaukee Road. He lived the last 15 years in the Deer Lodge Valley.
He married Karen Goodman; they later divorced.
Survivors include his sons, Rory Stone of Missoula, Jake Stone of Salt Lake City; daughters, Cindy (John) Carter of Helena, Barbara Carter of Alaska; seven grandchildren; brothers, Merle (Ida) Stone of Anaconda, Kenneth Stone of Deer Lodge, Howard (Micky) of Anaconda, Lester (Lori) Stone of Anaconda; sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Coeur d'Alene, Rose Vanderzwan of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Katherine Stone and Dorothy Stone.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Robert, and sister, Darlene Byford.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 1700 Missoula Ave., Helena.

James Maloney, 84
James P. `` Snub" Maloney died Tuesday.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1916, to William and Anne Maloney. He attended St. Mary's grade school and Boys Central High School. He played football for Central and also for the Independent League in Butte. He served for 38 months in the European Theatre of Operations with the Army.
He worked for the Anaconda Co., Butte City Bus Lines and Mountain Bell Telephone Co.
Snub was an ardent bowler and enjoyed fishing and all sports.
He married Mary Lasky and later divorced. He married Katherine Johnson in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Chuck Larsen of Whitehall; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Peggy Maloney and Pat and Paulette Maloney, Butte; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Mullaney, Butte; brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Helen Maloney, Butte; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ellenor and Dan Vaughan of California; sister-in-law, Lily Artinger of Texas; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, William, Bernard and Christian Brother John; and brother-in-law, Max Artinger; sisters-in-law, Mary and Alma Maloney, Thelma Crnich; brother-in-law, John Johnson.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church for visitation, followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow the Mass.
Memorials: Christian Brothers Retirement Fund, Brother Rice Provinciate, Box 85R, Romeoville, Ill., 60441; or charity of donor's choice.

Carol Paull, 57
ANACONDA -- Carol B. Paull of Galen Road died Tuesday morning in Community Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1942, in Butte, to Melvin and Ruth (Kennedy) Batten. She attend ed Butte schools, graduating from Butte High. She received licensed practical nurses' training at Montana State Hospital.
She and Fred Lester were married in 1961. He preceded her in death. She and Donald Paull were married in 1975. She was a licensed practical nurse at Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs for 25 years, retiring in 1999.
She belonged to the Avon Grange, F.C.E. Woman's Club, Licensed Practical Nurses' Union, and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed ceramics, taking drives, and her dog, Tyrone, and cats, Cougar and Licorice. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald, in 1998.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Paull, and her fiancé, Chris Crumley of Anaconda; sister, Sharon Batten of Butte; aunt, Dorothy Miller of Butte; and several aunts and uncles in Butte.
No wake or visitation are planned in the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, with burial in New Hill Cemetery.
