Rick Ferguson
A gathering in the memory of Rick Ferguson, April 25, 1956-March 6, 1999, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday March 23, at Mayflower Congregational Church, Poly Drive and Rehberg Lane. All who wish to attend are invited to bring along a story or a song to share. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Family Services of Billings or the charity of your choice.

Raymond Bear Don't Walk Jr.
LODGE GRASS - Raymond Bear Don't Walk Jr., 65, of Lodge Grass, our beloved brother, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 1999, after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident near Lodge Grass.
He was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Crow Agency a son of Teddy Ray Bear Don't Walk Sr. and Emily Crissler. He grew up in the Lodge Grass area, attended area schools, and later attended the Marty Mission School in South Dakota. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served during the Korean Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge.

Raymond returned to the Lodge Grass area to work for the Campbell Farming Corporation, Bureau of Indian Affairs, a Lodge Grass area saw mill, Holly Sugar Corporation and most recently as a personal care attendant for Westmont.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan. He enjoyed listening to music, reading, traveling and watching sports, especially boxing.

Raymond was a "kind, generous, polite, sincere, honest, well mannered, hard working individual, who always looked for the well being of others and followed the Christian principals within the Bible."

He was preceded in death by his parents and an adopted brother, Jackson Stewart.

Survivors include one sister, Teresa Ellis of Billings; three brothers, Lewis Bear Don't Walk of Lodge Grass, Urban Bear Don't Walk and Anthony Bear Don't Walk of Billings; one adopted sister, Mavis V. Price of Hardin; several nieces, nephews and cousins and three very special people in his life, Wilma Backbone, Chantell and J.R. Mullenberg.

Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Sunday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in the Lodge Grass Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Michael J. (Mack) Hughes
HELENA - Michael J. (Mack) Hughes, a Helena lawyer, died March 19, 1999, at home.
He was born at Glendive, on Nov. 18, 1922, to Michael J. and Esther Owens Hughes. He attended Glendive schools and was valedictorian of the class of 1939. He attended the University of Montana from 1940 to 1943 and from 1946 to 1949, graduating with honors in business administration and law.

He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served with the field artillery in the European Theater. He married Lois Ashton of Helena on Nov. 21, 1944, at Camp Rucker, Ala. He served as clerk to Judge Walter L. Pope on the United States Court of Appeals in San Francisco from 1949 to 1951. He commenced practicing law in Helena in 1951 with the firm of Toomey and Hughes.

Following the death of Edmond G. Toomey in 1960, he headed his own law firm until becoming counsel to the firm of Hughes, Kellner, Sullivan and Alke in 1984.

In 1965 and 1966 he served as a member of the Governor's Committee to revise the Montana Corporation Codes. He was elected a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in 1972. From 1973 to 1985 he was a member of the Montana Board of Bar Examiners. The State Bar of Montana presented him with its Distinguished Services Award in 1985.

He served as a director of the First National Bank of Glendive from 1960 through 1984, as chairman thereof for 16 years. He served as a director of Midwest Communications, Inc. and its predecessor companies. which operated the WCCO television and radio stations in Minneapolis from 1969 to 1990. He also served as a director of the Commerce Bank of Helena for several years.

He was a director of the Helena Chamber of Commerce from 1971 to 1973, and served as president thereof in 1972. He was a member of the first board of directors of Green Meadow Country Club following its separation from the Montana Club. He was a long time member of the Helena Rotary Club, the Montana Club, the Elks and Green Meadow Country Club.

He enjoyed wintering at his second home in Lake San Marcos, Calif., and playing golf and bridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jeanne Malone.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; five children including daughters, Margaret (Peggy) Pepper of Bozeman, and Michele and Gary Carpenter of Colorado Springs. Colo.; his sons, Gregory A. and Gerry Hughes of Great Falls, William M. and Ruth Hughes of Helena, and Thomas E. and Barbara Hughes of Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Mary Oliver of Whidbey Island, Wash., and Anne Sullivan of Dyer, Ind.; brother, Thomas W. Hughes of Billings; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Pepper, Zachary Carpenter, Megan, Ashley, Matthew, Michael, Casey and Thomas Jacob Hughes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may pay their respects Sunday, March 21, from noon to 7 p.m. A vigil service will be held Sunday 7 p.m. at Retz Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be Monday, March 22, 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Helena with interment to follow at Resurrection cemetery. The family invites friends for a luncheon at the Church Social Center following the interment.

If you wish to send a memorial the family requests memorials be made to: Westmont Hospice, St. Helena Cathedral or donor's choice.

Mary Ann Rose Martinez
Mary Ann Rose Martinez, beloved daughter, of Steve Martinez and Mandy Lopez, died March 17, 1999. She was here but for a few moments, but she inspired her family to have hope and faith. She is an angel in Heaven where she joins her uncle, Geronimo Crazy Horse Lopez.
Mary Ann is survived by her brothers Michael Jordon, and Raul Noel Lopez, three sisters, her grandparents, Andrew and Bertha Martinez, Raul Lopez Jr. and Marlene, her aunts, Felicia, Francia, Priscilla, Amy, Camelia, Delilah, and Lucy Lopez; uncles Raul Lopez III, and Valeriano Lopez, and a favorite uncle Sonny Gordipee.

Mary Ann was a direct descendent of Chief Little Bear Joe Gordipee, of The Rocky Boy's Reservation. She will always be in our hearts and teach us to love and have faith in God. God took her to show us the way into his heart.

Funeral services are pending.

Harry Hodson Allen
MEETEETSE, Wyo. - Harry Hodson Allen, age 74, passed away at his home on Friday, March 19, 1999, after a long battle with cancer.
Harry Hodson Allen was born on May 26, 1924, in Burlington, the son of Roland Lee and Hazel (Hodson) Allen. Harry was raised by his mother, Hazel and his step-father, W.S. "Scott" Myers.

He attended schools in Burlington. He served in World War II with the 101st Airborne from 1944-1946.

Harry married Harriette Lucille Kershner on June 6, 1946, in Billings, Montana.

Harry and Harrie Lu lived in the Big Horn Basin all their lives working at various jobs until Harry went to work for Dresser Minerals in 1962. He worked there for 27 years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1989. After retirement they moved to Meeteetse.

Harry is a life member of the Greybull Elks BPOE Lodge #1431, as well as being a member of the Cody Eagles AERIE #818, the Meeteetse American Legion Post #85, and the V.F.W.

Harry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Harrie Lu Allen of Meeteetse; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Bullinger of Meeteetse; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Renner of Worland, and Vivian Boynton of Cody; one brother, Harley Myers of Worland; several nieces and nephews; and hundreds of friends and acquaintances.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Scott Myers; one son, Rick Allen, and one sister, Dorothy Skeen.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at the Hillside cemetery in Greybull. The Elks BPOE Lodge #1431 Teem will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside cemetery in Greybull.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, a Memorial Fund has been set up at the First Interstate Bank in Greybull with proceeds to go to the American Cancer Society.

Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

David Paul Drake
GLENDIVE - David Paul Drake, age 59, of Glendive, passed away at his home on Friday, March 19, 1999, with his family present.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at the United Methodist Church with Pastor's Myrna and Carter Havner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Wibaux cemetery with Pastor Sebastian Tirtirau officiating, Silvernale-Silha is entrusted with the arrangements.

David was born on Dec. 20, 1939, in Wibaux, to Fred and Hulda (Lollie) (Hoovestol) Drake. He received his education in Wibaux graduating from Wibaux County High School in1957. In Oct. of 1957, David enlisted in the United States Navy serving until 1960. He attended Billings Business College graduating in 1964. On Sept. 14, 1963, David married Kathleen Evans in Beach, N.D. David worked at various jobs including office manager for Sands Motor Lodge in Gillette, Wyo., and Bair's Truck Stop in Billings. He later owned the Lake Bowl Lanes in Medicine Lake, the Annex Bar in Froid, and the Dinty's Bar and Steak House in Worden. David had a United States Postal Service mail contract in Kalispell from 1992 to 1994. He retired in 1994 and moved to Glendive where he has resided until his death. David was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7407.

David is survived by his wife Kathleen at the family home; two daughters, Deviann and her husband Mark McCully of Libby, and Terrilee and her husband Steve Stoltz of Hardin; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Aaron McCully and Colton and Courtney Stoltz; one sister, Diane Nelson and her husband Darvin of Wibaux; two brothers, Melvin Drake and his wife Joyce of Helena, and John Bacon and his wife Darlene of Wibaux; one uncle, Palmer Hoovestol and his wife Neva of Hysham; seven nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins,

Fred Fox Jr.
LAUREL - The Lord called Uncle Fred (Freddie) home on Saturday, March 20, 1999, while at the home of his favorite niece, Mary Hurt.
Fred was born at Worden Jan. 31, 1917. He was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters. Fred is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred worked on farms in the Worden, Huntley and Laurel areas until 1942, when he hired on at the Northern Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1975 from the Burlington Northern Railroad at Laurel, after 33 years of service.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America, and a very devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Laurel.

Fred enjoyed going for a bite to eat at the Owl Cafe in Laurel, now known as the Owl Junction Cafe, where all of the waitresses knew Freddie.

We will miss you Fred.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at First Congregational Church, Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First congregational Church, Laurel.

Ruth Campion Jordan
Ruth Jordan, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at her home in Billings. Ruth fought a long battle with cancer. Her courage and love touched each of us in a special way as she struggled with illness.
Ruth Mary Campion was born April 15, 1922, at Lakeville, Minn. She married Richard I. Jordan on Dec. 12, 1944, in Moorehead, Minn. The family moved to Billings in June 1963.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard; her brother, Paul Campion of Sierra Madre, Calif.; and five children, John Jordan and Carolyn of Littleton, Colo., Robert Jordan and Kaye Parke of Pflugerville, Texas, Celine Osborn and Charles of Tustin, Calif., Ruth Ann Jordan of Billings, and Paula Jones and Kim of Portsmouth, R.I. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Ruth loved her husband Richard, and her five children with a passion that was above all else. Her strength will always guide us. As a wife and a mother she exceeded every expectation.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist, 1001 Alderson Ave. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Cremation has taken place and a private interment was held.

Ruth and her family were blessed with the kindness and caring of her Hospice friends and nurses. These special people touched her life in a most extraordinary way. Ruth was filled with gratitude. The warmth and support she received from Dr. Marchello and Father Bourke and the people of St. Thomas Church provided a flow of love that protected her.

Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.

Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

James S. Hunter
James S. Hunter died March 18, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Home where he had been a resident for the past five years.
Jim was born Nov. 23, 1903, in a one room log cabin at his father's ranch on Dry Creek west of Roberts. He was the son of Thomas A. Hunter and Kathryn Price Hunter, Montana pioneers. Jim attended grade school in Roberts and graduated from Carbon County High School in Red Lodge.

During the depression Jim worked on construction of Fort Peck Dam. Subsequently, he was a businessman in Red Lodge and later operated his father's ranch where he developed a love for the dairy business. In later years he was a Dairy Herd Improvement Association tester and worked extensively with the Huntley Project Dairy Herd. Jim had a lifelong enjoyment of music and often played organ for friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harry, Lyle, Jack and Donald and sister Winifred Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Huguette E.; sons Dr. James T. and wife Sharon, Wallace E. and wife Anita; four grandchildren, Jamie, David, Tom and James and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist Mortuary on Tuesday, March 23, at 1 p.m. with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Eden Alternatives at St. John's Lutheran Home, 3940 Rimrock Rd, Billings, MT 59102, or the charity of one's choice.
