Marta Martinez Ortega
DINUBA, Calif. - Marta Martinez Ortega was a homemaker and her life was her children.
Mrs. Ortega, 65, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, from complications of diabetes.
Marta was born July 30, 1934, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Cosme and Paula (Garcia) Martinez. She and her brothers were adopted by her aunt and uncle, Herminia and Urbano Torres and raised in the Billings area. Marta was employed at St. Vincent Hospital's diet kitchen before moving to California over 45 years ago. Marta married Juan Ortega in Dinuba and together had three sons and one daughter.
She is survived by husband; her father and brother, Lorenzo, both of Billings; brothers, Richard (Mary) of Cleveland, Ohio; Oscar of Denver; sons, Manuel (Carmela) of Lancaster, Calif., and Juan Jr., Carlos and daughter, Paula, all of Dinuba; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
She also leaves her adopted sisters and a brother, Vangie Yebra and Enadina (John) Marin of Texas, Mary (Issac) Sanchez and Carmen Torres of Wenatchee, Wash., Rudy (Pat) Torres of Boise, Idaho, and Ninfa (Jim) Cureton, Susan (Dick) Quarnburg, Josie (Chuck) Quarnburg, Connie (Oscar) Dominguez, Clara (John) Johnson and Lupe Torres, all of Billings.
Burial was Friday, Aug. 13, in Dinuba, with Hopkins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Laura Odessa Peterson
Laura Odessa Peterson passed away on Aug. 10, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dessa, as she was known to her friends, was born on July 27, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to John and Martha Howieson.
During World War II, Dessa joined the Women's Army Corp (the WACs), and was the first WAC ashore in Europe. While in Italy, she met Sanford Peterson. They became engaged at Lake Como, and were married on Sept. 8, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif. After their marriage, they moved to Minnesota, where Sandy farmed and Dessa worked as a secretary in a hospital.
They had two sons in Minnesota, Henry and Sanford. In 1955, they moved to Billings where they joined the First English Lutheran Church. Dessa worked for the original Billings Hardware and for several stenographic services before beginning work for Theodore Wirth & Associates, Landscape Architects, where she continued as an office manager/administrative assistant until her retirement.
Dessa was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association, American Legion, White Shrine, Daughters of the Nile and Eastern Star. She held numerous offices in Eastern Star. Dessa enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and visiting with friends.
Sandy died in 1995, several months prior to their 50th wedding anniversary. In December 1998, Dessa went to stay temporarily with her son, Henry, in Salt Lake City. Due to failing health, she was unable to return to Billings.
She is survived by her sons, Henry of Salt Lake City and Sanford of Renton, Wash.; their wives, Susan and Linda; and grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Jennie and Leslie.
A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church, 1243 N. 31st St. in Billings, at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 1999.

Wilton Leroy Simon
DENVER - Wilton Leroy Simon, 80, of Denver and formerly of Billings, died June 22, 1999, in Lakewood.
Services were held June 30 at Christ The King Lutheran Church with interment in Fort Logan National cemetery. Horan & McConaty Funeral Service of Lakewood was in charge.

Joan L. Streeter
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Joan L. Streeter, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at Sheridan Manor.
Graveside committal of cremated remains will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery, Masonic Circle. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Alana Tillett Szlemko
LOVELL, Wyo. - Alana Tillett Szlemko, 56, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at her home of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services and interment of cremated remains will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Tillett Family cemetery on Crooked Creek in Montana. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.

Lavonne Wickland
ROUNDUP - Lavonne Lucy Wickland, born Lavonne Lucy Alexander, Nov. 10, 1921, in Waterville, Minn., passed away quietly with family present at 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 17, 1999, at Roundup Memorial Hospital.
Lavonne grew up on a sheep ranch northwest of Lavina and spent her early years helping care for the ranch with her parents, Raymond and Margaret Alexander; brother, Francis Raymond; sister, Clare Elizabeth; and twin sister, Leone Lucille.
She graduated in 1940 from Lavina High School - a Four Year Letterman in girl's track and basketball.
Lavonne married Edward Theodore Wickland and bore him two sons, Terry David Wickland and Gerald Lee Wickland.
Lavonne was active with St. Benedict's Parish, and Altar Society in Roundup. She enjoyed crosswords, Irish music, dancing and televised sports. She also worked at various Roundup businesses until retirement.
She is survived by her sister, Clare (Don) Belcher of Roundup; two sons, Terry (Wenda) Wickland of Roundup and Gerald "Jerry" (Kathy Roberts) Wickland of Clearwater, Fla.; and grandsons, Leif Wendal and Eric James Wickland of Roundup.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Interment is next to Lavonne's twin sister, Leone, in the Alexander Family plot, Lavina City cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Benedict's Catholic, United Methodist or Emmanuel Baptist churches of Roundup.

Helen Ida Beto Wolf
Helen Ida Wolf, 90, of Eagle Cliff Manor in Billings, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Princeton, Minn., a daughter of Paul Frank and Luella Hazel Bockoven Beto. She married William Rhea in 1924 and later was married to Alvin Wolf from 1942 until his death in 1991.
Helen worked as a crane operator at the Bremerton Shipyard during WWII and later helped Alvin make concrete products. They opened Al's Soft Water Service and later built homes. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and gardening. Helen loved the mountains and traveling with Alvin to Cooke City. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and VFW.
Survivors include her three daughters, Thelma Merkley, Edna Beto, and Ida Host of Utah; four stepdaughters, Bette Duncan, Jeri De Sylvia, Delores McMullen, and Joyce Hofferber; grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, parents, and brother.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th St. W. & St. John's and burial at Park City cemetery with arrangements by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

G. Morgan Brown
WORLAND, Wyo. - G. Morgan Brown, 83, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999.
Visitation will be 7:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Veile Mortuary. Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Ten Sleep cemetery.

Lucille A. Burd
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Lucille A. Burd, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Sheridan Manor.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Ferries Funeral Home with interment of cremated remains in the Masonic No. 8 section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Hazel B. Case
LIVINGSTON - Hazel B. Case, 89, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Interment will be in Park View Memorial Gardens. Franzen-Davis Crematory was in charge.

Paul Napoleon Joseph DeRocher
On Aug. 15, 1999, at the age of 83, Paul DeRocher died at home with his wife of 63 years, Agnes, by his side. Paul is formerly of Port Huron, Mich., moving only recently to Billings to be near his children.
Paul was born the son of Charles and Mary Jane (Belland) DeRocher on June 4, 1916, in Flatrock, Mich. He was one of 15 children, and was raised and educated in Michigan.
On June 15, 1936, Paul married Agnes V. Hanner in Linwood, Mich. They were parishioners of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Port Huron. Paul was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a BPOE member.
Professionally, he spent his life in the building construction business and was co-owner of DeRocher Brothers Construction Company. For most of his career he was an architectural field engineer for Harry Harmon & Associates, later Harmon, Thibodeau & Wedge, and finally for Port Huron Hospital before retiring in 1983.
His children remember him as a caring teacher and a man who could do almost anything. He shared his love for woodworking with his sons. His daughter, Celeste, remembers that he even made her cheerleading outfit in the 7th grade. Above all, they honor their father as the family patriarch; each child remembers him as their personal mentor when choosing their individual paths. To everyone with whom he celebrated life he would toast, "Who are the best people in the world and why are we?"
Surviving Paul are his wife, Agnes of Billings; three sisters, Margaret Plachta, Mary Jane Knochel and Nellie Blockmer, all of Michigan. Paul and Agnes' children include daughters, Emaline Hense-LaBeau of Seattle; Paula and husband, Fred Deigert of Bozeman; sons, Gregory and wife, Françoisé DeRocher, Nicholas and Linda DeRocher of Alabama and daughter, Celeste and husband, Gary Dimon of Billings. Twenty grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, also survive him.
Paul is loved and will be sadly missed. Please join us for a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Friday, at Dahl Funeral Chapel as we pay our final tribute. A reception will follow. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Rural Cancer Care Foundation, 2600 Main St., Miles City, MT 59301.

Lillie Charlotte Johanna DiLulo
WOLFFORTH, Texas - Services for Lillie Charlotte Johanna DiLulo, 89, of Wolfforth, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Rest Lawn, Wilsons' Funeral Chapel with J.B. Mann officiating.
Private burial will be at Wolfforth cemetery under the direction of Rest Lawn, Wilsons' Funeral Directors.
She died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside. She was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Motley, Minn. She married Blase DiLulo Oct. 7, 1929, in Moorhead, Minn. He passed away Jan. 2, 1961. A son also preceded her in death: Mike DiLulo in October 1980.
She is survived by: one son, Blase DiLulo Jr. of Billings; two daughters: Rose MacDonald of Wolfforth and Betty Corry of Omaha, Neb.; one sister: Ann Norsby of Valier, Mont.; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Family suggests memorials go to the Wolfforth Library Fund for books.

Jack B. Fox
PHOENIX - Jack B. Fox, 46, formally of Billings, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, after a long bout with cancer. The son of Herbert and Fern O. Fox, he grew up and attended schools in Billings and Colorado. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and drawing art.
Jack was preceded in death by a brother, James; a sister, Claudia; and his father.
Survivors include his son, Christopher of Washington state; his mother of Billings; two brothers: Robert (Patsy) of Billings and Roy (Patty) of Belgrade, Mont.; three sisters: Diane Burright (Jerry) of Billings, Charlotte Fox of Anchorage, Alaska, and Darlene Walters.
Cremation has taken place in Phoenix. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Billings at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999.

Margaret M. Glenn
LARAMIE, Wyo. - Margaret M. Glenn, 96, of Laramie, formerly of Powell, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at IHS of Laramie.
Margaret was born Jan. 14, 1903, in McLouth, Kan., to A.K. and Myrtle Bradford. She was raised in Powell and graduated from Powell High School. Margaret was a resident of Powell for 81 years and belonged to the Baptist Church in Powell. She was married to Dale Glenn who passed away in 1991.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and two sisters.
Margaret is survived by her two sons, Lewis Roney of Laramie and William P. and wife, Francis Roney of Billings; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Francis Brown of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 550 Catenhorn Drive, Powell. Interment will follow at the Powell cemetery.
Buck-Heggie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Camille 'Kay' Goldsmith
CODY, Wyo. - Camille Irene "Kay" Flolid Goldsmith, 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at West Park Long Term Care Center.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
