LeVerne Goodlaxon
LeVerne Goodlaxon, 79, died Aug. 4, 1999.
She was born to Margaret and Angus Dickson on Dec. 29, 1919, in Wilson Creek, Wash.

She married Jake Goodlaxon in Walla Walla, Wash., in 1949. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 2, 1999.

She was a loyal and dedicated wife and mother and is survived by her husband and two daughters, Judy Waterman and Jeri Anton and her husband, Steve, and four grandchildren, David, Brian, Wyatt and Kimberly.

Friends will gather at the family home Sunday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m.

Dr. Stanley Jonas Yoder
BOALSBURG, Pa. - Dr. Stanley Jonas Yoder, 60, formerly of Billings, Mont., died June 14 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was an orthopedic surgeon in Billings for many years.
Stan's love and compassion for people and animals made him special to his family and a multitude of good friends.

He was an avid outdoorsman, having hunted caribou in Canada, elk in Montana and grizzly bear in Alaska. He was an accomplished cook, using the wild game meat from his hunting and fishing expeditions.

Survivors include his mother, Katie B. Yoder of Hampstead, Md.; a daughter, Julie B. Yoder of Washington, D.C.; a son, Stanley Phillip Yoder of Bellefonte; a sister, Eleanor Derstine of Hampstead, Md.; a brother, Paul T. Yoder of Philipsburg; and two granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sweet Medicine Wild Horse Sanctuary, P.O. Box 1111, Columbus, Mont. 59019.

Beverly June (Gehrts) Bessler
POWELL, Wyo. - Beverly June Gehrts Bessler, 63, a resident of Powell, died at her home on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999. She was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in Wakefield, Neb., to Leonard and Twila (Shearer) Denker. She graduated from Hinton, Neb., High School and attended Wayne College in Nebraska for two years.
On July 11, 1954, she married Norman Gehrts and he passed away in October 1986. She then married Leo (Nick) Bessler on Sept. 11, 1992, in Red Lodge, Mont. They made their home in Powell where Mrs. Bessler loved to knit dolls, crochet, read and play bingo. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and The Eagle's Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bessler is survived by her husband, Leo (Nick) Bessler of Powell; sons: Marc Gehrts and wife, Krys of Worland, Marty Gehrts of Billings, Mont.; daughter, Marilee Kovash and husband, Tom of Powell; stepchildren, Greg Bessler of California, Darin Bessler of Wyoming, Matt Bessler of Hawaii, Connie Bessler of Colorado, Lisa Rodi and husband, Tony of Colorado and Marilyn Sims of Wyoming; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger Denker and wife, Darlene, Donald Denker and wife, Shelly, and Richard Denker; sisters, Twila Skidmore and husband, Phil, Lois Meyer and husband, Gerald, Judy Voss and husband, Gene, Kay Schmidt and husband, Brian, Janet Andweck, Linda Rychly and husband, Jim, Jackie Steele and husband, Warren, and Barb Von Seggern and husband, Terry. Mrs. Bessler was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Gehrts; brothers, Leon Denker and Ronald Denker.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 10 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Powell, with burial to follow at Crown Hill cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home.

Vivian L. Bishopp
POWELL, Wyo. - Vivian L. Bishopp, 78, of Powell, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Union Presbyterian Church.

Ray Bondeson
MONROVIA, Calif. - Graveside services and burial of cremated remains for Ray Bondeson, 77, formerly of Sidney, Mont., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Sidney cemetery. Friends and family will gather at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Sidney before going to the cemetery.

Ernestine C. Gerling
BOZEMAN - Ernestine C. Gerling, 89, formerly of Livingston, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Hillcrest Retirement Community.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, and Friday, Aug. 6, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Holbrook United Methodist Church with graveside committal in Mountain View cemetery.

Dugald J. 'Duke' Hagadone
POPLAR - Dugald J. "Duke" Hagadone, of Poplar, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer.
The 78-year-old lifelong resident of Roosevelt County was born in Culbertson on Dec. 12, 1920. In 1933, along with his parents, Dugald C. and Mary (Salomonsen) Hagadone and other brothers and sister, moved and began farming south of Poplar, between the Missouri and Poplar rivers.
In 1938, Duke graduated from Poplar High School and began to farm and raise cattle. During this time, he also worked at Farmers Union Oil and Grain Company. At the time he married Nancy Mae Reid on May 8, 1942, he had become assistant manager at Farmers Union.
On June 18, 1943, Duke was drafted into the Army Air Force. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and performed as an airplane armorer-gunner on B-52s. The crew successfully completed 35 missions during WWII. The close friendship with crew members continued throughout their lives.
Upon his discharge in June 1945, Duke returned to his job at Farmers Union. In 1948, Duke and Nancy decided to make farming their occupation and eventually having the opportunity to purchase his father's farm allowed him to stay in the Poplar area and become a producer of spring wheat.
In 1961, Duke and Nancy purchased the ranch where he was born. Duke thoroughly enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle. After retiring, he rented the farm and ranch to his eldest son, but continued to be active in riding horseback, his favorite hobby, and assisting in other ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vernie; and brothers, Lawrence (Rhoda), Myron (Sue), Thorvald (Helen), William; and brothers-in-law, Herbert Brown and Maxwell and Thomas Reid.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Peggy Sillivan (Don) of Worland, Wyo.; and sons, Robert (Beth) of Poplar and Thomas of Grenora, N.D. Four grandchildren also survive: Geoffrey (LaVonne), Susan Twichel (Josh), Donnette and Airman 1st Class Kimberly Sillivan; two great-grandchildren include Robert James Twichel and Emily Hagadone; sister, Alice Brown of Kalispell and brother, Clifford (Nora) of Wolf Point; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Hagadone and Loretta and Mabel Reid; as well as numerous cousins, nephew, and nieces.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Poplar. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Schneider and Pastor Audrey LaPore officiating. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 55 in which Duke was the oldest member. Internment will be in the Poplar City cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Otis Hill
GLENDIVE - Otis Hill, 63, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home with interment in the Dawson Memorial cemetery.

Kathryn Danielle Little Laird
FORT SMITH - Kathryn Danielle Little Laird, age 28, passed away Saturday, July 31, 1999, in Fort Smith. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Center St., in Arlington, Texas, with Dr. Charles Wade officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Kathryn was born Oct. 27, 1970, in Fort Worth. She was a resident of Fort Smith since 1994. She was a graduate of The Oakridge School in Arlington and received her B.A. in psychology and sociology from Southern Methodist University. While attending Southern Methodist University she was the captain of the polo team and a member of the crew team.
She was married Feb. 20, 1999, to her longtime love, Brian Laird. They were building a life for themselves in Montana. Kathryn was a loving wife and excellent companion. She was a very hard worker and took great care of her husband. Her loss is devastating and she will be missed very much. Kathryn was a beautiful and special woman with many talents, and a great sense of humor. She was an accomplished, champion Equestrian rider. She started riding at the age of 9 and continued her passion and love of horses until her death. She was also a fine cook and had an avid love and appreciation of nature and the outdoors. She was a devoted wife to Brian and a wonderful daughter, sister, and aunt to her family. We will miss her terribly and will carry her special memories forever in our hearts. She will always be with us.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Oscar Raymond and Mary Kathryn Blanchard. She will be remembered by her wonderful friends in Fort Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Brian David Laird; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Daniel Little; a brother, Thomas A. Little and wife, Christine; sisters, Cynthia Hrabal and husband, Brian, and Sheri Harber; her extended family: nephews, Linden Hrabal, Phillip Harber, William Little, and Andrew Little; a niece, Rose Hrabal; cousins, Deborah Ghanem and husband, Hatem, Dianna Smalley and husband, Terry, Raymond Smith and wife, Gina; her Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Michael McMahan; and her very special Jack Russell Terrier, Ralph, whom was a devoted and loving companion to her for 13 years.

Russell 'Rusty' McDanel
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - Russell Andrew "Rusty" McDanel, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Twichel Funeral Home with interment in Mayn cemetery.

Gladys E. Norman
LEWISTOWN - Gladys E. Norman, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at the Creel Funeral Chapel with interment in the Lewistown City cemetery.

Louis B. Picchioni
ROUNDUP - Louis B. Picchioni passed away Aug. 3, 1999, in Roundup.
Louis "Butch" was husband to Concetta and father of six. He was born May 10, 1916, in Gibtown. He moved to Italy and returned while still a young teen, where he lived with his uncle Joe Picchioni's family. He entered the CCC camp during the Depression, followed by serving in the Army in the Pacific during WWII as staff sergeant. He returned to Roundup and worked as a butcher in Picchioni's grocery business.
"Butch" met, courted, and married Concetta Perrella, a local beauty who had just completed nurse's training. They settled into the Roundup community. Louie was active in St. Benedict's parish, the Knights of Columbus and VFW in which he is vividly remembered for carving the roasts, hams, and turkeys every year and breakfast cooking. He served on the parish council and worked to establish a community youth center; coordinating, booking, and chaperoning the dances and bands during the '60s. Louis, a kind, gentle spirit who guided the lives of his six children, has given us all food for the soul and will be well remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Maria, and a brother in infancy. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Concetta; son, Michael; daughters, Louise (Michael Johnson), Dosie (David Brewer), Carolina, Madalena (Gary Robinson), Melinda (Bryan Ferguson); and six grandchildren, Brian Johnson-Billings; Louis and Chris Brewer-Roundup; Sam and Chad Ferguson-Gillette, Wyo., and Dominick Robinson-Gillette; brothers, Italio Picchioni and Alfredo Picchioni, and sisters, Katharine Ferrari, Alfonsenia Evangelista and Elide Vitali, in Italy.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at St. Benedict's Church in Roundup with interment in Roundup cemetery. Wier Funeral Home of Roundup is in charge. Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.

Lillie Reichenbach
Lillie Reichenbach passed away on Aug. 4, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital, as a result of a stroke.
Lillie Stockland was born in Chicago, on Nov. 26, 1906, daughter of Louie and Nellie Stockland. Mrs. Reichenbach was the sole survivor of the Stockland family. She moved with her family to Sumatra where her family had a homestead. She met Ernest Reichenbach Jr. while living there, they were married on July 6, 1927, in Columbus. They moved to Billings in 1930. Mrs. Reichenbach lived at 2103 Ninth Ave. N. for 60 years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Reichenbach attended Billings Business College and kept books for her husband's business. She was a member of the Yellowstone Country Club in the 1950s. She also attended the First Congregational Church, and she was an active member in the Billings Extension Club for many years. She supported her children in their many activities including: FFA, Scouting, Church Choir and Job's Daughters. Mrs. Reichenbach was a Charter Member of Moss Agate Chapter No. 126 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and baking. She always had cookies in her cookie jar for her grandchildren.
Survivors include Victor D. (Maybelle) of 2135 Harmon Lane; Dr. Dennis D. (Jean) of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Bernard (Erna) Himsl of Edmond, Okla.; Ernest A. "Bud" III (Jeanette) of 3209 Parkhill Drive; Ronald L. (Judi) of 310 Joy Circle; and Mrs. Gary (Linda) Giesick of Knoxville, Tenn.; 23 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Visitation will be at Smith Downtown Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Moss Agate Chapter No. 126 Estarl Fund, c/o Masonic Center, 1101 Broadwater Ave. or the Al Bedoo Temple Transportation Fund, c/o Al Bedoo Shrine, P.O. Box 20673, Billings, Mont. 59104.

Freda Richardson
Freda Richardson, 91, of Billings, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 2, 1999, in Billings. She was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Lincoln, Neb.
At a young age, her family moved to Billings, where she was raised and educated. Following graduation, she earned her teaching certificate and taught school in several rural Billings area schools including Ryegate. She married Ray Richardson in Billings in 1936.
Freda was a member of Eastern Star and the White Shrine. She enjoyed trips to Flathead Lake in the summers and her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 1974, one brother, and six sisters.
Survivors include her son, Rod Richardson and his wife, LaDonna of Aurora, Colo.; her two sisters, Charlotte Dean of Billings and Marie Gardner of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren, Brenna Richardson of Aurora and Rawlin Richardson of Gresham, Ore.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, Aug. 5, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, 1001 Alderson Ave. with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 6, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with interment to follow in Mountview cemetery.

Marvin Lloyd Spencer
GLENDIVE - Marvin Lloyd Spencer, age 71, of Glendive, died on Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at the family farm west of Bloomfield of natural causes.
A Memory Service for family and fiends will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor James Hageman officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Marvin was born on March 15, 1928, in Glendive, the son of Lloyd Walter and Garda (Egeness) Spencer. He attended Lower Seven Mile School in rural Dawson County and Dawson County High School, graduating in 1946. On Oct. 24, 1950, Marvin married Beverly Milne in Glendive. They made their first home northeast of Lindsay on the Pete Nelson farm, which they later purchased. They later moved to Glendive where they built a home on River Road. In 1974, they moved to their present home on Seven Mile Drive where they have resided since. Marvin's passion in life was owning and operating a farm operation, 11 miles southwest of Bloomfield, known as Spencer Incorporated.
Marvin enjoyed farming, playing cards and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Glendive Elks Lodge No. 1324.
Survivors include his wife, Bev of Glendive; one son, DeWayne "Butch" Spencer and his wife, Anita of Glendive; one daughter, DeLora Detmers and her husband, Don of Casper, Wyo.; one brother, Vernon Spencer and his wife, Judy of Glendive; one sister, Hazell Kutzler and her husband, Harold of Glendive; five grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Missy, Mandi, Cory and Paige; two great-grandchildren, Spring and Deon; numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
