Edith 'Betty' Johnson
POWELL, Wyo. - Edith "Betty" Johnson, 76, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at her home.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Presbyterian Church with interment in Crown Hill cemetery.

Elizabeth Z. Lavenger
Elizabeth Z. Lavenger, 80, passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings due to natural causes on Sept. 11, 1999. She has been a resident of Billings for the last 12 years.
Funeral mass will be Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at 11 a.m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial cemetery. Vigil services will be Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
Mrs. Lavenger was born on June 18, 1919, in Malta, to Marcel and Zelda (Demaris) Jeonnotte. She married James Lavenger on April 7, 1934, in Zortman. They resided in Zortman, Landusky and the Little Rockies. They moved to Chinook and resided here for a number of years. Elizabeth worked for Blaine County Family Services for 16 years. Mrs. Lavenger is survived by her 14 children: six sons, Edward, Bill, Gary, Bob Lavenger, all of Billings; Mike Lavenger of Helena; Jack Lavenger of Lolo; eight daughters, Edie Hebig, Gloria Williams, Elaine Morin, Betty and Karen Lavenger, all of Billings; Phyllis Trotchie of Spokane, Wash.; Ruby Chavis of Williamsboro, N.J.; Cheryl Lavenger of Everett, Wash.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; sisters, Mary Jane LaRoque of Malta; Agnes Ackerman of Lewiston, Idaho; Christine Clary of Redding, Calif.; Tiny Doney of Spokane; and brother, Joe Azure of Big Sandy. She was preceded in death by sisters, Celina and Louise Azure; brothers, Joe Brien, Edward, Walter Azure; and her husband, James, in 1983.

Jeremiah F. 'Jerry' MacDonald
FOREST GORVE, Ore. - Jeremiah F. "Jerry" MacDonald, 76, of Forest Grove and formerly of Billings, Mont., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Providence St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in Portland.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with a reception at the Homestead Community Clubhouse. A private inurnment will be held in the Willamette National cemetery in Portland. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home is in charge.

Denzil L. 'Bud' Madron
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Denzil L. "Bud" Madron, 71, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at his home.
Visitation will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Champion Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Frances Lucille Gerber Mays
Jesus took our precious Frankie's hand to a painless, peaceful place on Sept. 13, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. Frankie was born on April 24, 1930, to Barbara and Lucas Gerber. She was the 10th of 11 children. She graduated from Fromberg High School in 1948. She later married Vernon Kirk, then Willard "Bill" Mays. Frankie worked for 35 years and retired from Mountain Bell in Seattle, Wash., and then moved home to Montana in 1992. Frankie was a very kind and generous person. She enjoyed and loved her family, friends, flowers and pets. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Joe, Albert, Luke and George; and two sisters, Agnes and Katherine. Survivors include four sisters, Clara Simek, Rose Russell, Mary Schwend and Barbara "Dolly" Gerrells; brother-in-law, Guy Schwend; two stepdaughters, Betty Francis and Janet Mays; and one step-granddaughter, Melissa Mays; along with many nephews and nieces, great- and great-great-nephews and nieces.
Vigil will be held at Cremation or Funeral Gallery at 8th Street West and St. John's Avenue, Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Gallery, with interment to follow at Rockvale cemetery. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

James C. Moore
SIDNEY - James C. Moore, 79, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Assembly of God Church with interment in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Amelia Pollari
RED LODGE - Amelia Pollari, 82, a longtime resident of Red Lodge, died Monday morning, Sept. 13, 1999, in her home.
She was born on March 3, 1917, in Laurel, a daughter of Henry and Kathryn Gratwohl, and was raised and educated in the Laurel and Joliet areas. As the old-est daughter in a large family, she played an important role in loving and raising her siblings.
Amelia married Oliver Pollari on Aug. 4, 1938, in Big Timber. They were a devoted couple who were married 51 years before Oliver's death in 1989. Amelia and Oliver owned and operated Pollari Dairy in Red Lodge from 1938 to 1967. Mrs. Pollari also was employed at Carbon County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 1982.
She was known for her hospitality and was an excellent cook. She was proud of the cookbook that she and her son compiled, entitled "Cooking With My Mother." Her life revolved around her family and friends, particularly the activities of her grandchildren. She had the ability to maintain a special relationship with each member of her immediate and extended family.
Amelia was a dedicated member of the Red Lodge/Roberts Senior Citizen's Center and participated in all their various activities. She was also a member of the Red Lodge Community Church, Eagles Auxiliary, women's bowling league, and was active in the Kaleva Lodge.
Survivors include three children, Sally (George) Ingram of Great Falls, Jack (Diana) Pollari of Bozeman, and Jane (Ralph) Shultz of Thomasville, N.C.; grand-children, Vicki Williams and Cheryl Dagel, Brent Pollari, and Kenneth (Kim) Shultz, Kevin Shultz and Brian (Tracie) Shultz; great-grandchildren, Natasha Jordan, Ryan Dagel and Nicole Woods; great-great-grandchildren, Trey-von Jordan and McKayla Jordan; one sister, Leona Fryberger of Billings; and two brothers, Herman (Velma) Gratwohl and Henry (Marge) Gratwohl, all of Laurel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alec and George Gratwohl.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in the Red Lodge Community Church. Interment will be in the Red Lodge cemetery with Olcott Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Red Lodge/Roberts Senior Citizen's Center.

Audrey Beth Sintek
LOVELL, Wyo. - Audrey Beth Sintek, 65, died Aug. 30, 1999, in Lovell.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Lovell cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.

Page William Spencer
1919-1999
BELGRADE - Page Spencer passed away in his home on Sept. 12 in the company of his children and sister, Kay Erickson. He was a kind and caring gentleman. It came natural to him to take care of his family and his world. He was an old-fashioned American who loved his country even though he went through times America did not have all it offers to us now. He served his country as a Marine during World War II. He was a loyal and hard worker who smiled when the job was the toughest and worked even harder. He was a fisherman who loved nature and respected it. He was a great friend. He was our Hero.
He is survived by his children, Page Spencer, Pam O'Rourke, Gail Torgerson, Deborah Nash, and Dean Spencer. He also has 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His wife, Edna Spencer, passed away last February.

Cleone Thompson
Cleone Thompson, 94, of Billings, died on Monday, Sept. 13, 1999.
Born on Sept. 6, 1905, in Brashear, Mo., she was the daughter of Elbert and Allie Keller. Cleone graduated from Brashear High School and N.E. Missouri State University, Kirksville, Mo. She did graduate work at the university in Iowa City, Iowa, the university at Missoula, Montana and the business college at Chillicothe, Mo.
She taught business education in high schools in Missouri, New Mexico, Michigan, Iowa and Montana.
Cleone was a member of B.P.W. while in Missouri. She was also an Alumni member of Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville and a member of Alpha Chapter of Pi Omega Pi and Alpha Phi Sigma. Cleone was a member of the First Christian Church in Brashear.
On July 19, 1951, Cleone and Stanley E. Thompson were married in Pocatello, Idaho, and moved to Red Lodge where they made their home for 38 years. They traveled extensively in the United States, Europe and the Orient. Stanley preceded her in death in 1989.
In Red Lodge Cleone belonged to the Garden Club, Ladies Federated Club and Bath Zabbia Nile Club of Billings. At the time of her death she was a member of Venus Chapter 32, O.E.S. in Red Lodge. She was a member of the I.B.E.W. for 39 years and was active in politics for several years-.
Cleone enjoyed her home, flowers and her garden. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, tatting, sewing and needlepoint.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jean DeLapp of Des Moines, Iowa; a granddaughter, Rosella A. Pratt, also of Des Moines; a sister, Helen Sees of LaPlata, Mo.; and a niece and nephew.
Graveside services will be held in Resthaven cemetery in Des Moines on Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jane Wagner
Jane Wagner, beloved mother of Jeanne Forrester of Billings, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Sept. 14, 1999, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. She was born in Carbondale, Pa., on June 5, 1916, the daughter of James and Martha (Bradley) O'Brien.
She moved to New York City in 1930, where she completed her education and later married Fred Talbert. In 1955, she moved to Ashland and worked at St. Labre Indian School for 18 years. She married George Wagner in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1973. She had resided in Billings since 1973. Jane was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes O'Brien and Mary Brennan.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne (Gary) Forrester of Billings; her granddaughters, Barbara (Casey) Frank of Billings and Pamela (Derek) Green of Denver; and four great-grandchildren, Adrian, Elija, Joshua, and Darian. "We love and will miss you, Gram"
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, 1001 Alderson Ave. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with interment to follow at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. The celebration of Jane's life will continue at a dinner scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday in the Moss Room of the Radisson Northern Hotel in Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Young Families Program, P.O. Box 21240, Billings, MT 59104-1240, or Soaring Eagle, P.O. Box 879, Billings, MT 59103.

David E. Wetsit
WOLF POINT - David E. Wetsit, 28, of Wolf Point, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at St. Alexis Hospital in Bismarck, N.D., after a long illness with leukemia.
A wake will be held Friday evening, Sept. 17, at the Wolf Point Community Hall with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Immaculate Conception Church with interment in the Oswego Catholic cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Fay Agnes Witt
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Fay Agnes Witt, 89, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Sheridan Manor.
Viewing will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 15-16, and until 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Champion Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Elks cemetery.

Raymond V. Aggers
RIVERDALE, Utah - Raymond Vern Aggers, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1914, in Deadwood, S.D., a son of Charles Newton and HuldaLavisa Anderson Aggers.
On Aug. 13, 1939, Ray married Mary Larimore Humphrey in Sydney, Mont. Mary died March 16, 1989.
He was reared and educated in Wyoming and had lived in Washington State before moving to the Ogden area in 1993.
Ray was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ogden.
During World War II, he worked in the oil fields and at a CCC Camp in Yellowstone Park. He worked as a produce manager for Safeway retiring after 35 years of service.
Ray loved woodworking, photography and gardening, especially growing roses. Ray was a member of the Masonic Lodge and had just received his 50-year pin.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Richard (Maureen) Aggers, Billings, Mont.; Charles (Sharon) Aggers, Phoenix, Ariz.; Betty (Blaine) Keller, South Ogden; Barbara (Gary) Phillis, Riverdale; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Ray is also survived by one brother and one sister, Jack Aggers, Fort Collins, Colo.; Dora Foyelsonger, Thermopolis, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 2604 Jefferson Ave., with Pastor Alane Currier-Griggs, officiating.
Cremation under the direction of Lindquist's Crematory.
Interment, Rockvale, Montana cemetery where graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2604 Jefferson Ave., Ogden, Utah 84401, or to the Church Organ Fund.
Funeral directors, Lindquist's Ogden, Utah Mortuary.

Elsie R. Beswick
Elsie R. Beswick, 99, of Billings, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 10, 1999, at the Evergreen-Billings Health & Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided since 1993.
Elsie was born on Sept. 5, 1900, in Chilhowee, Mo., the daughter of Andrew M. and Annie L.(Mills) Comer. She moved to Hobson in 1911 and married James Henry Beswick in 1917. They moved to Billings in 1933.
During WWII Elsie worked for Purity Bakery, which was later renamed Sweetheart Bakery. In 1945 she and her family bought 10 acres on King Avenue and Orchard Lane, where they raised cows and other livestock, while Elsie continued her work at Sweetheart until her retirement in 1965. The family continued to live on the acreage until 1991. Elsie's husband worked at numerous jobs including 47 years for the Great Northern Railway in Billings.
Elsie is the oldest of six living generations in her family. She is a member of the White Shrine, Eastern Star and the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Roy Beswick; her daughter, Juanita Hamers; a sister, Minnie Stern; and one great-granddaughter, Willo Obenauer. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Taylor; four grandchildren, Winona Achten, Dotty Brackin, Mike Hamers, and James Hamers; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Ruth Dieringer.
Visitations will begin on Wednesday at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, at the Smith Downtown Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Alexandria Mary Casillas
Our Mother and Grandma, Alexandria Mary Casillas, born on Feb. 9, 1924, to Demecia Lopez and Adrian Casillas. Mom was born and raised here in Billings and also resided in Kansas with her daughter, Pauline for seven years. In 1953 she married Frank Hernandez in Hamilton.
Ms. Casillas was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Pauline Bergerano; two brothers, Joe and John Casillas; and three sisters, Alfonsa and Fidela Martinez and Ophelia Garcia.
Alexandria is survived by six children; Julia (Avil) Quintanar of Arizona City, Ariz.; Elisa Bustos, Augustina (Bill) Kirkpatrick, Pascual (Jenny) Hernandez, Tomacita Sanchez, and Mack (Lucy) Hernandez, all of Billings; one brother, Mack Casillas of Billings; one sister; Eloisa Martinez of Ogden, Utah; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with memorial services Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at the Holy Cross cemetery.
