Hertha Elizabeth Frank
GLENDIVE - Hertha Elizabeth Frank, 83, of Glendive, died Oct. 24, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Extended Care Unit. An evening service for family and friends will be held at 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, in the chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Glendive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Glendive, with Pastor Howard Schreibeis officiating. Interment will be in Dawson Memorial cemetery, Glendive, with the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
Hertha was born on Sept. 3, 1916, in Golden Valley, N.D., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ruckhaber) Laubenstein. She was raised and educated in rural Golden Valley. Hertha married Phillip Frank on Dec. 17, 1939, in Dodge, N.D. They moved to Glendive in 1950, where Hertha was employed as a cook for numerous local cafes until her retirement in 1978. Hertha enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, and especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Jim and his wife, Wanda Frank of Sidney, and Earl and his wife, Linda Frank of Glendive; four sisters: Louise Bloom of Wilton, N.D., Pauline Bauer of Bismarck, N.D., Marie Noon of Union, Miss., and Irene Tabbert of Billings; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Hertha was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and two twin daughters.

Lydia M. Helm
GLENDIVE - Funeral services for Lydia M. Helm, age 90, of Glendive, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Glendive with Rev. James Hageman officiating. Interment will follow services at Dawson Memorial cemetery in Glendive. Visitation will be Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Lydia died Saturday Oct. 23, 1999, in Billings, with her family by her side. She was born on the family homestead north of Wibaux Jan. 5, 1909, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie Lehman Meyer. She was raised in the Wibaux area. She received her elementary education at the Hay Creek School Near Wibaux and graduated from Wibaux High School in 1927. She also attended the Billings Normal school for three years. After her schooling she taught country schools for four years.
Lydia was married to Henry Helm on June 10, 1931, at the home of her parents near Wibaux. After their marriage they farmed south of Beach for 10 years before moving into Beach in 1941. In 1956 they moved to Glendive, where they have since resided.
While living in Beach, Lydia had worked as a waitress at several places. After moving to Glendive she was employed as a Nurse's Aid at the old Dawson County Nursing Home for 10 years, retiring in 1972.
Lydia was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Glendive and the Thelen Homemakers Club of Beach, N.D. She especially loved growing flowers, fruits and vegetables in her garden. Lydia was married to Henry for 68 years and loved her family and friends.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, one son, James Helm, and one brother, Edward Meyer. She is survived by her husband, Henry Helm of Glendive; a son, Dean (Lydia) Helm of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; Neil (Fonya) Helm of Cabin John, Md.; daughter-in-law, Darlene Helm of Fargo, N.D.; sister-in-law, Carrie Meyer of Wibaux; along with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.

Ann Nistler
BEACH, N.D. - Ann Nistler, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, in Dickinson.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church with interment at St. John's cemetery.

Lorene B. "Tynne" Saunders
GILLETTE, Wyo. - Funeral services for Gillette native, Lorene B. "Tynne" Saunders, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at First Presbyterian Church, Gillette, with Rev. Joel Wright as officiant. Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery, Gillette. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Wilson Funeral Home, Gillette. She died Oct. 22, 1999, at her home in Gillette of natural causes. Lorene B. "Tynne" Saunders was born April 11, 1905, in Gillette, the daughter of Andrew S. and Matilda (Morgan) French. She was raised and educated in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1924. She was employed at the Gillette Commercial Co. for several years prior to her marriage.
She married Don B. Saunders on June 6, 1929, in Gillette, and soon after they moved into their home at 501 Rockpile Blvd., where she continued to reside until the time of her death.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter V, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and several women's social clubs, all in Gillette. She taught Sunday school for many years and was known throughout her life as "Aunt Tynne" to nearly every child in town. She always kept her cookie jar full, and she was well known as an excellent cook and baker.
Tynne's greatest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Cynthia Saunders, Gillette; grandchildren: Barbara and John Lutter, St. Paul, Minn.; Tom and Anne Saunders, Douglas; Sam and Lisa Saunders, Gillette; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on March 5, 1986; two children, who died in infancy, one brother and four sisters, and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ben Setran
Ben Setran, 96 of Billings, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital.
The son of Gunder and Pauline Setran, Ben was born March 7, 1903, in Sisseton, S.D. He moved with his family to Voltaire, N.D. in 1910 and grew up on the family farm.
Early on he developed an interest in violin music and had played fiddle with groups in the area during the 1920's for dances and early radio broadcasts from Minot, N.D.
In 1939 he moved to Billings, where he worked as a painter until retiring in 1968.
After retiring he renewed his interest in playing the fiddle, which had been put on hold for years due to the pressures of making a living, and an injury to his left ring finger. He also began to make violins and has made 35 new violins. In 1973 he began entering local and regional fiddle contests, winning numerous trophies and awards including third place in the Senior Division of the National Old Time Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho in 1973. He had also been a first place winner in the senior division of the Montana State contest in Polson nine times. In 1976 Ben was selected to play in Washington, D.C. during the bicentennial celebration. Although no longer competing, Ben still enjoyed "jamming" and playing with local groups at retirement and nursing homes and on Tuesday evenings at Southside Senior Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Lauralee Terry and her husband, Darrell of Billings; grandsons, Carl Terry of Mesa, Ariz., and Michael Moree of Bothell, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Billye Myhre of Bismarck, N.D., Alice Arndt of Minot, Frank Stuber of Lewistown, Francis Stuber of Shelton, Wash., and Marcella and Willard Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, his wife, Manda and companion, Hildred Berkley; three brothers, Henry, William and Severt; and his sister, Elaine Meyer.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to District 4, Old Time Fiddler's Association or the charity of one's choice.

Dennis Dehmer
BOZEMAN - Dennis Dehmer, 54, of Bozeman, passed away Oct. 22, 1999. Dennis was born on July 24, 1945, to Oscar and Magdalen Dehmer in St. Michael, Minn.
Dennis grew up and attended school in Minnesota. He served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Farragut for three years. Dennis earned a B.A. in Art Education from Montana State University and went on to teach Art at Bozeman Senior High School. In 1971 he married Debbie Boylan of Bozeman. He also farmed and ranched in the Gallatin Valley and served as the Montana representative to the Northern Dewatering Company of Rogers, Minn. Dennis has always considered the Gallatin Valley his home, he had been a resident since 1966.
Dennis' diverse interests included art, jewelry making, metal smithing, golf, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was one of the founders of Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Debbie (Boylan) of Bozeman; mother, Magdalen Dehmer of St. Michael; sons, Kurt A. Dehmer and Mark A. Dehmer, both of Bozeman; sisters, Catherine (Carroll) Zachman of St. Michael, Dorothy Solyst of Bozeman, Denice (Martin) Robertson of Rogers; a brother, Joseph (Patricia) Dehmer, of St. Michael; 17 nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Dehmer; and a sister, Barbara Dehmer.
A vigil will be 5 p.m., Sunday Oct. 24, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday Oct. 25, at Resurrection Parish. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, at 8 p.m. Oct. 29, 1999.

Ronald G. 'Ron' Emmett
Ronald G. "Ron" Emmett, 44 of Billings, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1955, in Glendive, a son of Charles and Lois Emmett. He received his schooling in Glendive and attended Dawson Community College. In 1978 he became an apprentice ironworker and worked in Colstrip for several years and later moved to Billings. He has been a member of Ironworkers Local 801, of Helena, since 1978.
He married Debra A. Zahn in Billings in July 4, 1985. Ron loved to raise Siberian Huskies and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Deb; his parents of Glendive; two brothers, Tom (Karen) Emmett of Green River, Wyo., Larry (Julie) Emmett of Dallas, Tex.; and a sister, Sherry Lynn (Bruce) Meidinger of Bismarck, N.D.; four nieces and one nephew; numerous friends and co-workers.
Cremation has been held. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Karl W. 'Bill' Frielinghausen
CODY, Wyo. - Karl W. "Bill" Frielinghausen, 73, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999.
Rosary will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the church, with interment at Riverside cemetery.

Madelyn J. Halver
HELENA - Madelyn J. Halver, age 79, of 2801 Colonial Drive, Helena, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 21., at St. Peters Hospital of complications of a stroke.
Madelyn was born June 27, 1920, at Drywood, Kan. in Crawford County, to Earl and Bertha (Trogdon) James. She received her early education in schools at Drywood, Arcadia, and Pasons, Kan. She received much of her degree study at Kansas State University at Manhattan.
She married Glen C. Halver DVM at her Alpha Delta Pi Sorority House on Nov. 1, 1941, and they made their home in Glendive, Mont., where Glenn was employed as a Veterinarian by the Livestock Sanitation Board. Madelyn was very active in their children's educational activities, and after her children were in school she attended Glendive Junior College for her needed five credits. She then achieved her B.A. degree in Home Economics from Kansas State in 1957. When they were transferred from Glendive to Helena in August of 1958, she substituted in Helena Junior High and soon became a staff member as a teacher of Home Economics and General Sciences classes for the ensuing nine years.
Madelyn enjoyed her summers on the lakes of the Missouri, trolling and was a good fisherman. After leaving school teaching she spent winters in California assisting her parents and traveling with Glenn in their motor home, they also lived many winters in Mesa, Ariz.
Survivors are her husband Glenn of Helena; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Gail Halver of Gilbert, Ariz., Roger Leslie and Barbara Halver of East Helena; one daughter and son-in-law, Lyn and Herb Bennett of Sparks, Nev.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Gordon Tuott of Sidney; three grandchildren, Marie, Laura and Craig; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Paige; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded by both of her parents in 1983.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday Oct. 27, at Lindens Herrmann & Company Funeral Home of Helena at 11 a.m. Rev. Dick Schroeder, a campus minister at MSU in Bozeman, will officiate. A luncheon will be served following the service at the Funeral Home residence.

Mariah Margaret Holloway
Our sweet angel Mariah Margaret Holloway passed unto the hands of the Lord Saturday morning after a brave and courageous fight with cancer.
Mariah was born April 19, 1980. She is survived by her mother, Belinda Holloway, her brother, Chas M. Holloway, her grandparents, Melvin and Maxine Steinmetz; four uncles: Duane Steinmetz, his children, Cody and Lisa; Jesse Steinmetz, his wife, Renae and their children, Travis, Shane and Brian; and Joel and Mark Steinmetz; two aunts, Edie Smith, and Teri Reichert, her husband, Keith and their children, Heather and Katie; and Tera Stricker, her husband, Jeff, and their children, Payton and Kallyn, who were Mariah's Godchildren; and many many friends and extended family members.
Mariah graduated from West High School in 1998. She was very involved with FHA and loved spending time with her good friends. She spent summers since eighth grade participating in Upward Bound, which she dearly loved, and went to Washington D.C. in 1997 as a representative to a National Leadership Conference.
Mariah was loved very much because she possessed a kind and loving heart and gave sunshine and happiness to everyone she met.
We thank the Lord that He shared her with us for 19 years. She was a great blessing to us all and we will dearly miss her.
We love you Mariah.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lynda Alane Jensen
TEMPE, Ariz. - Lynda Bertelson Jensen died at her home in Tempe, Ariz. She was born May 31, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Donald and Palma Bertelson.
She was raised in Billings, Mont., and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1964. She went on to graduate with a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Utah in 1969.
In July, 1969, she married Donn Jensen. From this union they had two children, Britta Lyn and Kirk Alan.
She is survived by her daughter, Britta and husband, Billy Conrad of Klamath Falls, Ore., and her son, Kirk of Portland, Ore.; her mother of Billings; sisters, Donna and husband, Curt Farrier of Kalispell, Judy and husband, John Tripp of Billings; and her brother, Jerry and wife, Linda Bertelson of Billings; two beautiful grandchildren, Jessica and Will Conrad; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lynda was a brilliant and talented woman. She knocked on God's Door and he welcomed her with open arms. Farewell, Lynda, we love and will miss you.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or to the charity of ones choice.

Muriel Gwynn Jones
CODY, Wyo. - Muriel Gwynn Jones, 98, of Cody, passed away Oct. 22, 1999, at the Long Term Care Center. Born May 11, 1901, at Meadow Bluff, W.V., Muriel was the daughter of Walter and Cora Gwynn. She attended elementary and high school in Longmont, Colo., and graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
In 1925 she married Donald L. Jones. He passed away in 1961. The family moved from Denver, Colo. to Powell, Wyo. in 1940, and to Cody in 1942, where she has resided since then. She was a member of the Cody Presbyterian Church, the Order of Easter Star and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, E. Bruce Jones and his wife, Margie; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Gwynn Jones of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Jones White and her husband, Michael White of Divide, Colo.; two nieces and two nephews.
Services will be held Monday, Oct. 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Cody at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.
