Beatrice Irene Blewett
SCOTSDALE, Ariz. - Beatrice Irene Blewett was born in Circle, Mont. on March 12, 1914, to Teresa (Reynolds) and Andy Lloyd, and raised on his homestead with 14 brothers and sisters.
She left home at the age of 12 and worked cleaning houses and cooking for room and board while attending school. After leaving Circle, Bea was self-taught, through confidence and hard work; she received her GED when she was 60.
In 1940, Bea was married at the age of 26 to Richard Gordon Blewett, in Butte. Together they had four beloved children, Dick (Olympia, Wash.), Ray (Phoenix, Ariz.), Bill (Billings, Mont.) and Melene Myers (Billings).
Bea was passionate about many things. She loved the outdoors; her favorite past time was working in her garden and watching her plants and flowers grow. They seemed, in a way, to be her children. She loved to go on walks and be amongst nature, and she would often go on outings with her children.
Bea's hobbies brought her great joy; she was very talented with ceramics and sewing and her collection of humming birds and unicorns could put a smile to anyone's face. She also loved to read, but of all the books she had read, romance novels were her favorite.
Through all of Bea's trials and tribulations, she continued to be beautiful and her blue eyes never lost their sparkle. Her laugh, smile, and sense of humor were a delightful experience, and Bea's warm embrace offered the essence of the hundreds of pies and cookies she had lovingly baked.
Beatrice Irene Blewett passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 20, 1999, in Scotsdale, she was 85 years young.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gordon Blewett; two brothers, John Palmer and Glenn Lloyd; and five sisters: Beverly Lloyd, Cleo Nasby, Leona Strand, Myrtle Quick, and Myrna Lloyd.
She is blessedly survived by her four children; six sisters: Freda Kaul (Scobey, Mont.), Gladys Schipman (Rosebud, Mont.), Dorothy Strong (Billings), Patsy Arthur (Circle), Evelyn Carpenter (Bozeman, Mont.), Shirley Hoverson (Glasgow, Mont.); one brother; Harold Lloyd (Red Lodge, Mont.); 11 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings on Monday, the first of November at one o'clock. (Cremation has already taken place).
Bea, our love for you is eternal and we will all miss you very much. You are our mother (great and grand), our friend and our inspiration. May God bless and keep you.

Ronald W. 'Moon' Mikel
Ronald W. "Moon" Mikel passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, surrounded by his family, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall in his home. For the past four years, Ron had suffered from a progressive-degenerative brain disease. Although he became increasingly incapacitated, my dad enjoyed life everyday! He exhibited such courage, determination, and dignity while battling this dreaded illness.
Ron was born March 9, 1938, in Laurel, the youngest child of Philip and Katie (Knaub) Mikel. Dad was called "Sonny" by his family. He was a member of First Congregational Church for many years. Ron attended Laurel schools and graduated form Laurel High School in 1956. After graduation, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in France. He received an honorable discharge in 1960, and served four more years with the Army National Guard. Ron was married to Barbara J. Mitchell on April 7, 1962, in Laurel. They made their home in Billings. Dad was a dedicated and hardworking employee of the Conoco Refinery in Billings for over 35 years, retiring in 1995.
Ron's many pleasures included bowling on Conoco's league team for many years, camping, boating, hunting and fishing with his buddies, maintaining an immaculately groomed yard, tinkering in his garage, and watching any kind of sports on television. Ron and Barb were avid Billings West High Golden Bear fans, long after both of their children had graduated from high school. During the past 25 years as season ticket holders, there were very few home football or basketball games that were missed, even after the onset of his illness.
Above all, my dad cherished his role as grandpa, or "papa." He never missed a baseball, softball, soccer, flag football or basketball game. When his granddaughter, Sarah, became a student at Laurel High School this fall, Grandpa Mooney was so anxious to become a Locomotive supporter, although I know deep down he would never for a moment have considered abandoning his beloved Bears. Dad was a devoted grandfather, always greeting his grandchildren with a smile, unconditional love and outstretched arms.
Ron is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara; his daughter, Kelly Osborne and husband, Dale of Laurel; his son, Scott and wife, Debbie of Billings; his beloved and constant companion, Odie; two sisters, Helen (Bud) Reed, and Ruth Kilimann, both of Billings; and his grandchildren, Sarah and Tanner Osborne, Ryder and Samuel Mikel, Casey Scott Bates, Bradley Ruff, Addam and Jordyn Ostlund, and Nicole Dunn; his brother-in-law, Jim (Ann) Mitchell, of Orange Park, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Rowena Mitchell; and his brother-in-law, Alan Kilimann. Visitation will begin 1 p.m., Saturday. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary, with burial in the Laurel cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Billings West High School Activities Fund, Laurel School District Activities Fund, or to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express our thanks to the wonderful Emergency Room physicians at Billings Deaconess Medical Center, and to Dr. Roger Williams, who had cared for Dad for the past few years. To the Deaconess nurses, CNA's, and respiratory therapists - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassionate care of my dad in those final hours. You are such a wonderful group of professionals, and we so appreciated your kindness.
Goodbye Dad, we will miss you - but you will never be forgotten. You will live on in our hearts and our treasured memories - until we meet again. We love you, Kelly and Scott.
