Margaret 'Marge' Nelson
ANTELOPE - Funeral services for Margaret "Marge" Nelson will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 1999. Pastor David C. Curtright will officiate at the service at Plentywood Lutheran Church; interment will be in the Antelope Creek cemetery. Marge died Friday morning, Oct. 1. She would have been 90 years old on Monday.
Margaret Nelson was born Oct. 4, 1909, the daughter of Weldon and Lulu (Hedges) Richardson, on the family farm four and a half miles west of Antelope. She graduated from Antelope High School in May 1928, and attended one year of Teacher's college in Dillon. She began teaching in the fall of 1929, and spent the next several years teaching during the school year, and returning to Normal School in Dillon during the summers. She married Emil Petersen on May 30, 1935 at Nathanael Lutheran Church. Several years while married to Emil were spent in Grenora, N.D. Emil and Marge adopted a daughter, Janice Louise, on Feb. 13, 1948. Emil passed away from a heart attack December 1948. After his death, Marge returned to teaching for eight years, before she married Tom Nelson on June 13, 1956, in Bremerton, Wash. They lived on the farm in Antelope and in Plentywood, and spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz. Tom died Nov. 29, 1980, and Marge has lived at the Pioneer Manor and Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home in recent years. Marge was a member of the Antelope Ladies Aid, the Sons of Norway, and Order of Eastern Star. She was noted for her lovely handwriting and the journals she so faithfully kept.
Marge is survived by one brother, Thomas Richardson, of Kennnewick, Wash.; a step daughter, Shirley Spoklie of Plentywood; a step son, Gerald Nelson, on the family farm at Antelope; and ten grandchildren: Steve Smith, Hope Dodge, Kristie and Heather Smith, Darcy Nordhagen, Guy Spoklie, Diane Nyby, Hallie Luoma, Grant Spoklie and Caroline Anderson; and by nephews and nieces: Mike and Faye Richardson, in Connecticut; Weldon and Kathy Richardson, of Blame, Wash.; Tim and Yvonne Richardson of Plentywood; Ryan Richardson in Minnesota; Jeannie Bucholtz, of Seattle, Wash.; Joan and Mike Nail of McDavid, Fla.; and Greg and Stephanie Richardson, of Cary, N.C.; and Margo Johnson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and by sisters-in-law, Alice Richardson, of Cary; and Minnie Richardson of Antelope. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands: Emil Petersen, in 1948, and Tom Nelson, in 1980; by her daughter, Janice Louise Henderson, Aug. 30, 1990; and by brothers, Weldon, Gene, Jerald, Walter, and James Richardson; and by one grandson, Scott Nelson.

Fern Pomeroy
TERRY - Fern Pomeroy, 83, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with interment in the family lot in the Prairie County cemetery.

Craig Patrick Sullivan
BIGFORK - Craig Patrick Sullivan was known for his extraordinary sense of humor and unique perspective on life. He left us on Sept. 29, 1999 of complications due to asthma.
He arrived in this world on July 17, 1985, in Great Falls. Craig moved to Bigfork in 1990 and attended Bigfork Elementary and Bigfork Middle School. He loved to draw, listen to music, write sci-fi stories arid being with his family and friends. He played flag-football and baseball and participated in "Odessey of the Mind." He was also an avid sports fan. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and uncle.
Craig is survived by his parents, Jeff Sullivan of Bigfork, and Cheryle Lane of Great Falls; a brother, Brian, and a sister, Lori, and her son, Reiley, also of Bigfork; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Lois Sullivan; Aunt Debbie and Uncle Les, and their children, Bailee and Taylor Ingram; Aunt Cristi and Uncle Bob and daughter, Kylee Hand, Great Aunt Shirley Fuller, all of Bigfork; and cousin, Jeremy Sullivan and his mother, Dawn Nobel of Missoula; Aunt Cathy and Uncle Clay Bloomquist of Phoenix, Ariz.; maternal grandmother, Ellen Hill of Bridger; Aunt Jan and Uncle Carl Stokes, and their children, Robert Eklund, Joseph and Krystina Gonzalez, great grandmother, Alice Maxwell, all of Billings. The service is at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the Methodist Church in Bigfork with a celebration of his life immediately following at the Bigfork Elementary School cafeteria.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the "Bigfork QRU New ambulance fund."

Albert R. Vidales
BOZEMAN - Albert R. Vidales, 63, was returned to God on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital after undergoing cancer therapy. Al was a devoted husband and committed family man who helped everyone in their time of need. He was charismatic, a friend to all he met, and will always be remembered for his ready smile and love of laughter.
Al is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Rosie; children, Christine, Yolanda, Albert Jr. and Joe; seven grandchildren: David, Chris, Darlene, Lisa, Monet, Micaela, and A.J.; brothers, "Chico", Ernie, and Joey; a sister, Nellie; and numerous family both near and far.
Cremation has taken place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery in Billings. A private family gathering will be held later in Bozeman. A Memorial Mass will also be held later at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Huntington Beach, Calif. "He made our lives better just by being in them."

Elvah Mae Winkler
JOLIET - Elvah Mae Winkler, of Joliet, died at Deaconess Hospital Thursday evening, Sept. 30, 1999, at the age of 99. Elvah was born July 14, 1900, in Silesia, to Levi and Nettie Webber at the family homestead. She was the youngest of three daughters.
She married Horace Winkler in Billings on Dec. 3, 1925. They made their home in the Joliet area and farmed for many years. After retiring they moved to Joliet. Dad was the town constable and mom was the clerk for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Murray of Billings, and Marge (Wally) Blain of Joliet; one sister, Grace Smith; and nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965, her grandson, Monte Blain, son-in-law, Bill Murray, and sister, Bertha James.
Mom was in Aloha Chapter of Eastern Star and a proud member of Pioneers of Eastern Montana. She loved crossword puzzles, playing bingo, watching Jeopardy, going for scenic rides and eating out. We loved her sense of humor and quick wit. Most important to Mom were her family and friends.
Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday, at Simplicity Burial and Cremation Services and at the church prior to the services. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Joliet Christian Church with interment in the Joliet cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Joliet Christian Church or the charity of one's choice.

Mary Ellen Brandvold
Mary Ellen Brandvold passed on to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999. Her family was with her in her passing moments at the Deaconess Hospital.
Mary Ellen, a much devoted Christian lady, was truly loved by all who got to know her. Her love of teaching music was highly evident. She was a most talented pianist; who could sight-read a given piece of music easily. She sang in the Grace United Methodist Choir, was an accompanist for the Golden "K" Kiwanis "Kiwanichords, " also a member of Kiwanis. She was an accompanist for the yearly Chanter Christmas Concert. For the last five years she was chairman of the annual Christmas Tea at Grace United Methodist Church.
During her teaching years in Tioga, N.D., she organized an excellent handbell choir at the Zion Free Lutheran Church of which she was a member. She also directed the Chancel Choir there for several years.
Mary Ellen was born to Ernest and Ellen Reynolds on April 19, 1927, in Aberdeen, S.D. She was educated through high school in Fullerton, N.D., and was a Special Music Major from Ellendale, North Dakota State Teacherís College. She earned extended credits at Minot State University and the University of North Dakota. She taught two years at Aberdeen, eight years at Fullerton, and 32 years at Tioga. She retired from teaching in 1993.
She married Anthony Davis Jr. on June 19, 1950, at Fullerton. To this union five children were born. The marriage ended January 1989.
She married Arthur Brandvold June 26, 1993. They truly loved and respected each other, their music and other interests were so compatible. She dearly loved her sons and daughters and nine grandchildren.
Because of her great musical talents, she received many honors, namely, the Distinguished Service Award for Community Service in 1970; the Golden Apple Award for being an outstanding teacher for the school year of 1993; the Distinguished Citation Award from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Omicron State in 1993.
She was for 10 years or more the Alpha Omicron State music chairman.
Mary Ellen --- We loved you for the little things that made you who you were. We liked the way you smiled when we did something to make you proud or the knack you had for finding the best in everyone and every situation. We loved you for your calming spirit that made people feel so comfortable in your presence. Just being with you, watching you live your life so gracefully makes us feel very thankful to have had you by our side. We loved you because you put so much love in every single little thing you did.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, Arthur Brandvold; daughter, Sue Ellen and her husband, Mike Johnson and their children, Nessa and Nathan of Minot, N.D.; son, Steve Davis of Tioga; son, Scott Davis and his wife, JoAnn and their children, Nick, Matthew, Sara, and Kevin of Tioga; daughter, Sally Davis and her husband, Roger McDaniel and their children, Jacey and Ryan of Denver; son, Stuart and wife, Sylvia Davis and their child, Hannah of San Jose, Calif.; plus a host of dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 1935 Ave. B, on Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at 11 a.m. Also a second service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Tioga.
Instead of flowers please make memorials to Zion Lutheran Church - Handbell and Chancel Choir fund and Golden "K" Kiwanis for the special programs working with children and Special K Ranch.

Col. Willard T. ëCaseyí Brannon
BENBROOK, Texas - Col. Willard T. "Casey" Brannon, 76, retired USAF, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, in Benbrook.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Greenwood Chapel at Greenwood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Graceland cemetery at Jermyn. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Willard Theodore Brannon was born May 9, 1923, in Billings, to Maggie and Louis Brannon. After graduation from Billings High he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He participated in the China-Burma-India Campaign in World War II, and he was a weather man/typhoon hunter in the Pacific. He also participated in the rocket development program at the White Sands Missile Range. As a communications officer he was commander of the 33 communications squadron at March AFB.
He married Willie Conley, of Jermyn, on Aug. 22, 1948, in Fort Worth. They enjoyed traveling and raising three daughters as an Air Force family. In 1973 he retired after 30 years of service in the Air Force and moved his family to Fort Worth. He worked for Management Recruiters of Arlington until he retired. Casey and Willie continued to travel and visit family and Air Force friends for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Brannon, in 1998.
Survivors include his daughters, Geri L. Wellborn and her husband, Gary of Norman, Okla., Cristie Moss and her husband, Randy of Fort Worth and Lt. Col. Tracey A. Walker and her husband, Marvin of Hurlburt AFB, Fla.; his mother, Maggie Brannon of Billings; a sister, Bernice Grosjean of Afton, Wyo.; six grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Andre Denny Carlson
MINNEAPOLIS - Andre Denny Carlson, age 47, died Sunday, Sept. 26, in Minneapolis. She was a dancer, actress, teacher, motivational speaker and television talk show host. She began her dance career in 1971 with the Minnesota Dance Theater in ballet. Dance was her love, and her most recent participation was in ballroom dance competition.
She began producing a cable talkshow "Everyday People" in 1991 and worked with her husband, producer Jonathan Carlson, on many video productions. Andre changed and inspired everyone who met her. She faced breast cancer with faith and courage and started a nonprofit corporation called Life After Cancer Inc., to help other women. Her work will be carried on by others in the form of a book, a film documentary and a dance performance.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Denny Floberg. Andre blessed her family and friends with deep wellsprings of unconditional love: husband, Jonathan; son, Denny Buck, 4; stepdaughter, Alexandra "Lexi"; twin-brother, Andrew; father, Don Floberg; stepmother, Marilyn Floberg; sister, Kim Floberg; brothers, David Floberg, David Bjornson and Dana Bjornson.
Memorial services were held in Minneapolis.

Richard D. Cobb
CONRAD - Richard D. Cobb, age 81, of Conrad, passed away Thursday at his home due to a long battle with Emphysema.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michaelís Catholic Church at Conrad with burial in the Lewistown cemetery. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan. 9, 1918, at Benchland, to Samuel and Katherine (Schooler) Cobb, where he was raised and graduating from Windham High School, Married Pauline Friedt Nov. 22, 1940, at Columbus.
They lived in Billings for six years where he drove truck for E.L. Jones. The couple then moved to Windham for three years, as Richard was then employed as a transport driver for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads. In 1950 they moved to Glasgow, where he retired from BN in 1976 after 36 years of driving a truck. In 1987 they moved to Conrad.
Richard was a member of St. Michaelís Catholic Church, the Eagles Club Aerie #166 at Havre, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Reputed to have caught the largest fish in the State of Montana and bagged more geese than anyone west of the Mississippi.
He was famous for his summer sausage and choke cherry wine, as he would say, "its fit for king." Other hobbies were gardening, bowling, playing pool and shooting trap. Mostly he loved driving truck. He was an inventor and had several patents.

Survivors include his wife Polly Cobb of Conrad; daughters, Patricia (Patti) and husband, Bernard Armstrong of Bucyrus, Kan., Dixie Lynn and husband, Joseph Hromcik of Great Falls, and Paula Bagley of Vancouver, Wash.; sons, Darrell J. Cobb and Donald E. and wife, Tamara Cobb, all of Kennewick, Wash., and Daniel J. and wife, Joann Cobb of Conrad; sister, Alta Chakos of Billings; 18 grandchildren: Carl Armstrong, Brian and wife, Sara Armstrong; Joey, Chris and Jesse Hromcik, and Danna and husband, Chris Taylor; Ricky, Paul, Whitney, Courtney, Remmington and Sidney Cobb; Darrell, Carol, James and Thelma Bagley; Jason, Megan, Ryan, Jorden and Kidron Cobb; and nine great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

Orpha M. Davis
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Orpha M. Davis, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Willow Grove cemetery in Buffalo. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Senior Citizens Center in Thermopolis. Bryant Funeral Home of Worland is in charge.

Ronald A. Gilbertson
HOOD RIVER, Ore. - Ronald Allen Gilbertson, 58, formerly of Glendive, Mont., died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Bowe Theater at Hood River Valley High School. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge.

Barbara ëBobbieí Guelff
Bobbie Guelff went to be with the Lord Our Savior Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Bert and Lenore Hambrick, Dec. 18, 1939, in Lander, Wyo. Bobbie graduated from Missoula Sentinel High School in 1958, married Donald S. Guelff, June 7, 1958, and raised their family in Stevensville where she owned and operated the Palm Cafe.
After moving to Billings in 1986, Bobbie was employed at Parkview Convalescent Care where she was greatly loved. Her compassion for others was evident. She loved gardening and all her flowers. She enjoyed camping and was a wonderful cook, making the best cinnamon rolls in the world.
Bobbie loved to laugh! Most of all, she loved having her family near. She derived so much joy from her grandchildren. Bobbie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. "You have been an inspiration to all of us and we will miss you. You will always be in our hearts; and yes, we will plant lots of flowers in the spring."
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Hambrick. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Don; five children, Steve (Michelle) of Billings, Robin (Lon) Sibley of Roundup, Craig (Amy), Brian (Lisa), and Rachelle, all of Billings; grandchildren, Steffan, Michael, Tiara, Ericka, Ryan, Bailey, Shelby and Abby; and her brother, Steve Hambrick of Stevensville.
Cremation has been held. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernardís Catholic Church. Her cremated remains will be scattered in the Bitterroot Valley at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montana Race for the Cure, P.O. Box 9248, Helena, MT 59604. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Julia C. Houseman
Julia C. Houseman passed away on Thursday evening, Sept. 30, 1999, at St. Johnís Lutheran Home in Billings. Mrs. Houseman had lived for 88 years.
Julia was born on Oct. 23, 1910, in Livingston, the daughter of George and Catherine (Garr) Hedges. As a child she moved with her family to Billings and attended both McKinley and Lincoln schools. On June 11, 1931, Julia married George M. Houseman. Following Mr. Housemanís death in 1973 she continued to live in Billings, moving to St. Johnís Lutheran Home in the fall of 1994.
Mrs. Houseman was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as five brothers, one sister, her daughter, Mary Catherine, and two grandchildren, David and Karen Edwards. Survivors include three daughters: Anna Marie Rostron and husband, Jim of Billings, Judy Kern of Billings, and Colleen Polesky and husband, Gerry of Glendive; a son-in-law, R.R. Edwards and his wife, Mary of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitations will begin at noon on Sunday, Oct. 3, with vigil services at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. W. The Funeral Mass will be said at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rite of Committal to follow at Holy Cross cemetery. Smith West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Verona M. Hutchins
The Angels from heaven accompanied Verona Hutchins to heaven Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999.
Verona, 88, of Billings, was born to her loving parents, Frank and Irene (Mennie) Evends, on June 13, 1911, in Canby, Minn. On April 7, 1932, at the age of 20, Verona was united in marriage to Charles A. Hutchins in Clear Lake, S.D. As they built their lives together living in places such as Granite Falls and Minneapolis, and Bismarck, N.D., they were also blessed with the birth of their two children, Jo Nell and Charles.
In 1942, Verona and her family moved to Billings where she was a homemaker, and became a pillar of the American Lutheran Church community, where she always sat in her favorite pew. She was very adamant about church activities, as well as such hobbies like sewing, cooking, music, playing bridge, gardening, and writing.
Though loving the Lord and being with her family was first priority, Verona always had time for her incredible love of cats, taking walks, and watching the clouds pass by. She was a warm, caring, and loving person who will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. "We love you and will miss you. Good-bye Mom."
Verona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles A. Hutchins; her parents, Frank and Irene Evends; sister, Lylas Payette; and grandson, Tom Hutchins. She is survived by daughter, Jo Nell (Robert) Boit of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Charles T. (Frances) Hutchins of Billings; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank Colleen, Brenda, and the staff at Edgewood Vista, for the excellent care and loving compassion they gave our mother in her last days. At Momís request a graveside service for her cremated remains will be held at Mountview cemetery, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999 at 2 p.m. A viewing will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Memorials should be made to the American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave., Billings, MT 59101.

John J. Nation
LOVELL, Wyo. - John J. Nation, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at his home west of Lovell after a long illness.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Byron LDS Church. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.
