Dylon Owen Nomee
CROW AGENCY - Dylon Owen Nomee, infant son of Sheldon and Amanda Linder Nomee, was stillborn Sept. 29, 1999, in Dickinson, N.D.
Survivors include his parents; a twin brother, Christian; his grandparents, Al and Patricia Caplette, Paul and Bertha Nomee; and his great-grandmother, Christine Stewart.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday morning in the Crow Agency cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin was entrusted with the arrangements.

Clifford F. Sturgis
SIDNEY - Funeral services for Clifford F. Sturgis, 75, of Sidney, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Assembly of God Church, Sidney. Interment will be in the Sturgis Family Ranch cemetery, Savage, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
He trusted Christ as his Savior and enjoyed being a Christian. He especially loved his family and was devoted strongly to them. We love you very much and will miss you, your smile, and the skip in your step. We will see you very soon in glory at our Gigantic Family Reunion.
Clifford died at his home early Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Helen of Sidney; two sons, Steven R. Sturgis and wife, Connie of Sidney, Rocky L. Sturgis and wife, Corrine of Hazelhurst, Ga.; daughters, Gloria J. Sturgis Shoop and husband, Mike of Laurel, Robin G. Urlacher and husband, Mark of Savage, and Melody S. Carlson and husband, Kendal of Sidney; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lucille L. Thorndal
Lucille "Lucy" Thorndal, age 92, died at Aspen Meadows Nursing Home in Billings on Oct. 1, 1999.
Lucy was born in Grafton, N.D., on Nov. 6, 1906. She moved to Minot, N.D., in 1913 with her parents, Napoleon and Louise LaFleur. Her French heritage in America goes back to the early 1600s in Quebec.
Lucy graduated from Minot High School in 1924 and St. Josephís Hospital School of Nursing in 1927. She married Herbert L. Thorndal in 1928. They lived in Minot, Ironwood, Mich., and several Minnesota cities until 1954, when her husband and their son, H.L. Thorndal Jr., founded a bank in Columbus, N.D. After her husbandís death in 1965 she resided at the Parker Hotel in Minot. For the past four years Lucy has been a resident of Aspen Meadows Nursing Home in Billings. She thought of Aspen as her home and appreciated the loving care she received from her many friends there.
As the result of a bout with polio, she was confined to a wheelchair for over 50 years. She was an inspiration and a "thorn in the side" to many through her advocacy for the handicapped. She was a member of the Mayorís Committee for the Handicapped, Senior Advisory Council, Burke County chairperson for Sister Kenney Drive, and volunteered for many years at the Minot Vocational Workshop. She was a member of St. Leoís Catholic Church.
Her husband, Herb, and her two sisters, Edna Purdy and Ruth LaFleur, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Thorndal of Los Angeles; and three sons: Herb Thorndal of Fargo, N.D., John Thorndal of Las Vegas, Nev., and Bill Thorndal of Laurel; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at St. Leoís Catholic Church in Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Minot Vocational Workshop.

Bernice M. Tschiffely
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Bernice M. Tschiffely, 98, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Canyon Hills Manor.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Mortimore Funeral Home with interment in Darnestown, Md.

Elda Ulmer
Elda Ulmer, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Valley Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in Riverside cemetery. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist is in charge.

Edith May Warwick
Edith May Warwick, 98, 3940 Rimrock Road, Billings, died Sept. 30, 1999, at St. Johnís Lutheran Home. Edith was born Feb. 12, 1901, in Red Lodge, the daughter of Edward and Flora Cammock. Her family lived in Joliet and Lodge Grass. After graduating from Lodge Grass High School, Edith went to Detroit, Mich., where she married Edward Warwick in 1922. They moved to Gebo, Wyo., where their son, Merle was born. Subsequent moves were to Joliet, where their son, James, was born, Billings, Helena, Miles City, and back to Billings. Edithís husband, Ed, was a deputy sheriff in Billings, where he died. Edith was basically a homemaker, and was a member of First Christian Church.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, husband, both sons, and brothers, Earl, Leslie and Walter. She is survived by her sister, Helen Coppinger of Billings, and her grandsons, Rodger Warwick (Linda), of Billings, David Warwick (Lauren) and Philip Warwick of Seattle, Wash. Visitation Saturday, 5-8, Sunday, 1-5. Funeral services Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reception following service at Central Christian Church.

Emma C. Scott Hardin Knutson
MALTA - Emma C. Scott Hardin Knutson, 92 years, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Phillips County Good Samaritan Center in Malta. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Malta Lutheran Church with burial in the Malta cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
Emma was born Feb. 2, 1907, in Kermit, N.D., to Hans and Marie Hinrickson. She was the youngest of seven children. In 1914, the family moved to Whitetail where they operated a hotel and restaurant. She met Palmer Scott and they married in 1926. In 1927, Palmer and Emma moved to Dodson, where he became superintendent of schools. They moved to Loring in 1933 and returned to Dodson in 1944. Palmer passed away in 1959. Emma married Floyd Hardin in 1961 and moved to Malta. He passed away in 1974. In 1984 she married Ken Knutson, he passed away in 1990. She has resided at the Good Samaritan Center since 1995.

Emma was a member of Eastern Star, was an avid fisherman, a wonderful cook, winning many blue ribbons for her pies, and a gardener. She was a member of the Malta Lutheran Church. To say that Emma was a loving and caring wife and mother would be to understate her boundless generosity and sensitivity to others. Her concern and compassion as a friend and care giver knew no limits. To play cards, to laugh and talk, and to be with her family were her favorite things. She was famous for her hospitality, warmth, kindness, generosity and ever-present smile. Her unending optimism was characterized by a standing quote "Well, it's never so bad, that it isn't good for something. Emma was fun-loving with a quick sense of humor and an abiding faith that there's good in everything and everybody. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters, a daughter, Doris Marie, and a great-grandson, Edgar Scott III.

Emma is survived by her five children: daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Don Black of Billings; sons and daughters-in-law, Palmer and Shirley of Florence, Duane and Esther of Claskanie, Ore.; Ron and Cindy of Malta, Edgar of Butte. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Christina Gebhardt
WORDEN - Christina Gebhardt, 89, of Worden, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, Sept. 28, 1999, at River Ridge Assisted Living in Billings.
Christina Kaul was born March 31, 1910, at Hosmer, S.D. On Feb. 5, 1929, she was united in marriage to Reinhold Gebhardt in Marsh. After their marriage, they continued to farm there. They moved to Worden in 1953.

She is survived by her daughter, Luella (Bud) Makrevis of San Bruno, Calif.; son, Delvin (Bonnie) Gebhardt of Billings; daughter, Darlene (Gary) Stanton of Sandy, Utah; daughter, Diane (Bill) Lee of Lafayette, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Eva Schmitt of Billings, Gottlieb Kaul of Glendive, Rose Dalke of Manteca, Calif., and Oswald Kaul of Vancouver, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964 and her oldest son, Wilbert in 1995. Also preceding her in death were four brothers and two sisters.

She will always be remembered for her German cooking and her love for sewing, crocheting and crafting. Most important to Christina were her family, friends and community as well as her church.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden. Interment will be at the Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine. Memorials to the Bethlehem Congregational Church, Worden, 59088. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Peter Van Auken
HELENA - Peter Van Auken passed away in Helena, at Fort Harrison, on Sept. 20, 1999, at the age of 76. Born in Leavenworth, Kan., on Jan. 23, 1923, Peter was the son of Wendell Grant and Agnes Fleming Van Auken. He was reared on the "41" Ranch near Buffalo, Wyo., and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1941. Following high school, Peter attended Iowa State University for a year before enlisting in the Navy Air Corps in 1943. He earned his wings and commission in the Navy where he was a torpedo bomber pilot.
After World War II, Peter returned to Wyoming where he met Daretha Taylor of Kaycee, Wyo. They were married on July 17, 1951. In 1952 Pete and Daretha moved to White Sulphur Springs. They bought the Max Sarter ranch near Fort Logan and raised sheep for several years. They sold the ranch to Doggett Camas Creek Cattle and Sheep Company in 1966. Peter continued to work for the Doggetts for many years. He also farmed for George and Ellen Berg for about three years.

Peter is survived by his wife, Daretha; a brother, James of Tucson, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.

The memorial service was held at the St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs on Friday, Sept. 24, 1999. At Peter's request all of his friends were to be honored at his inurnment at Mayo cemetery.

Margaret E. Hartsock
LEWISTOWN - Margaret E. Hartsock, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Central Montana Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the First Christian Church with interment in Central Montana Memorial Gardens. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles G. Pew
LEWISTOWN - Charles G. Pew, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Central Montana Medical Center after cancer surgery at Benefis East Hospital in Great Falls.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in the Cloyd Funeral Home Chapel.

Elsie M. Kemper
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Elsie M. Kemper, 78, formerly of Billings, Mont., died Sept. 26, 1999, at Evergreen Nursing Center.
Services are pending. Interment will be in the Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Woodlawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Vydell Ross Yellowrobe
BUSBY - Vydell Ross Yellowrobe "White Antelope, " 22, of Busby, named after Uncle Ronald Glenmore, died as a result of an automobile accident on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999.
Vydell was born April 17, 1977, in Crow Agency, the son of Rhonda Glenmore and Jarvis Yellowrobe. He was raised in Busby and later graduated from Colstrip High School where he was active in school athletics. Vydell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Vydell entered the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 18, 1995, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 18, 1999. On May 31, 1997, Vydell married Megan Allred in Colstrip. To this union were born two children, Makayla Rae and Tyson Jay.
He is survived by his wife Megan and children; his mother, Rhoda Glenmore of Busby; his father Jarvis and stepmother Esther Yellowrobe of Muddy Cluster; stepfather, Jay Fox of North Dakota; four sisters, C. J. (Ronnie) Little Axe of Lawrence, Kan., Lasha Fox of Busby, Nikita and Julian Yellowrobe of Muddy Cluster; two brothers, Jarvis Jr. (Desiree) Yellowrobe of Dunmore, Tyson Fox of North Dakota; his grandfather, Douglas Glenmore of Lame Deer; his grandmother, Madeline Yellowrobe of Lame Deer; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Vydell was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Josephine Glenmore.
Vydell was loved by his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
Wake services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the basement of the Catholic Church in Lame Deer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at the Boys and Girls Club in Lame Deer with interment to follow in the Glenmore Family cemetery near Busby. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Bobbie Jo Littlebird
LAME DEER - Bobbie Jo Littlebird, 40, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, near Busby as the result of a one-vehicle accident.
She was totally dedicated to her four children, her husband and the rest of her family, as well as her co-workers at the Charging Horse Casino. She has worked at the Charging Horse Casino as Bingo Operations Supervisor since 1997. She was instrumental in helping build the casino and bingo program.
Bobbie Jo was born Feb.26, 1959, in Hardin. She grew up in the Lame Deer area and later earned her Associate of Arts degree from Dull Knife Memorial College in 1992. She was working toward a bachelors degree in Special Education. She was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe
She enjoyed creating various crafts, usually with a Native American motif. She enjoyed sewing, beading, minor carpentry, and painting. She sewed clothes and beaded for her family and friends.
Bobbie Jo was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lafe and Elizabeth Elliot and Christine Braine; her father, Sarge Elliot and a brother Randy.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie of 13 years; her four children, Randy, Elizabeth, Francis and JoAnna; her mother, JoAnn Elliott of Arizona; her brother, Wade Elliott of Alaska; her grandparents, Carl Braine of Arizona and Regina S. Whiteman of Billings; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Wake services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in the Lame Deer Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church. Interment will follow in the Elliott Family cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Paul Eugene Harris
MISSOULA - Paul was born in Minot, N.D, . on June 30, 1966. Paul was taken from us on Nov. 25, 1999. When he was 3 months old, he moved with his family to Montana and lived in Montana for the rest of his life. He lived and attended school in Billings, and in 1980 moved to Laurel where he graduated from high school in 1984. After high school Paul lived and worked in the Billings area until 1988 when he moved to Napa. Calif. In 1990 he moved back to Montana and has been here ever since that time.
Paul had lived in the Missoula and Hamilton area since 1995.
Paul was employed as a house painter in Missoula and in Hamilton, and while he enjoyed painting, he was glad to be soon starting a new job in his favorite occupation of cooking. Paul loved cooking for his friends and family, and they all enjoyed the fruits of his labors.
Paul loved the outdoors. Camping, fishing and skiing were among the things he enjoyed. He shared a love of cars with his mom, and had always hoped to some day have and restore one of the muscle cars of the '70s.
On Jan. 18 1999 Paul's life changed forever. That was the day his twin daughters, Madison and Briana, were born. They were truly the greatest love of his life.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Madison and Briana Harris. their mother Tracy and step-children, Christopher, Whitney and Cory Shaw.; his mother and step-father, Cheryl and Rudy Groshelle Sr. of Missoula, and father, Lawrence of Minneapolis, Minn.; his grandmother. Wanda Hutmacher of Missoula; his brother Christopher and wife Traci Harris and their two children, William and Wesley, of Billings; his sister, Lesley Corcoran and her son, Edward, of Billings; step brothers, Gary Groshelle and family of Billings and Rudy Groshelle, Jr. and family of Laurel; step sisters, Terra Hannah of Los Angeles, Calif. and Karen and Wes Chapman of Ashland, Ore.; aunts Gen Hutmacher of Watford City, N.D. and Ardyce and husband Mike Mollett and son Louis of San Rafael, Calif. Paul also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as numerous friends.
Services will be held in Missoula at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with viewing prior to the service. In Missoula honorary pallbearers are Richard Morris, Jr., John Haskins, Tom Collins, and all of Paul's friends in the Missoula and Hamilton area.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Road. Viewing will be at Michelotti Sawyer & Nordquist, 100l Alderson Ave. from 7 to 9 p.m. Pallbearers in Billings are Christopher Harris, Rudy Groshelle, Jr., Eddie Corcoran, Tim Wilson, Tom Mulvanney, and Williams Jones.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund has been established at Missoula Federal Credit Union, in Missoula, Mont. for Paul's twin daughters. Madison and Briana Harris.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes Sunset Chapel, 7405 Mullan Road.

Sandi Kay Sundsted
CULBERTSON - Sandi Kay Sundsted, 56, died Nov. 27 at the Roosevelt Medical Center of heart failure.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow. There will be private interment. Bell Mortuary is in charge.
