George H. Klein
SENTINEL BUTTE, N.D. - George Henry Klein, 75, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Evangelical Church in Beach. Interment will be in the Sentinel Butte cemetery in Sentinel Butte. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is in charge.

Elizabeth Dagne Jorgensen Bergh Lindegaard
SHEPHERD - Elizabeth (Eli) Lindegaard, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at her home in Shepherd.
Elizabeth and her twin sister, Thyra, were born the seventh and eighth children of Jorgen and Kristiane (Olsen) Jorgensen on Aug. 12, 1904, in Owen, Wis. At the age of 3 1/2, their family moved to Dagmar, Mont., a Danish homesteading community.
On Nov. 26, 1924, Elizabeth was married to Goodwin Bergh, making their home and farming at Froid. To this union, five daughters were born.
Goodwin passed away in Jan. 1965. In Sept. 1967, Elizabeth married her deceased twin sister's husband, Kristen P. Lindegaard, (K. P.). They continued to live in Froid for many years. They moved to Solvang, Calif., where they resided until K. P.'s death on Dec. 21, 1981.
During her life, Elizabeth kept an active membership in community and church affairs in Froid, Solvang and Shepherd. She will be missed by many friends and neighbors.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, one brother, two husbands, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
Elizabeth is survived by her five daughters, Elinor Schulz, Shepherd; Esther (Larry) Bengtson, Shepherd; Doris (Vernon) Martinson, Shepherd; Laura (Jack) Barrett, Big Fork; Connie (Dick) Lindborg, Missoula; also six stepchildren, Svend (Jeanne) Lindegaard; Otto (Marianne) Lindegaard, Ruth Lindegaard, Esther Torrens, Ellen (Don) Brashier, all of Calif., Elise Bates of Ore.; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as a host of nieces, and nephews and many old and new friends.
Funeral services will be conducted and interment at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Shepherd, on Monday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Big Sky Hospice or a charity of choice.

Richard H. Schara
CIRCLE - Richard H. "Dick" Schara, 70, died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the McCone County MAF.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Ralph 'Ray' Scheeler
MILES CITY - Ralph "Ray" Frank Scheeler, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at his home. Vigil services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Dorothy Harriett Vanek
LEWISTOWN - Dorothy Harriett Vanek, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes.
Funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, in the church.

Wilmar 'Bill' Whetham
LIVINGSTON - Wilmar Bernard "Bill" Whetham, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1-5 p.m., and Tuesday until the time of the service. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 North 3rd Street. Graveside committal services will follow at Mountain View cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home is in charge.

Bruce Yellowtail
WYOLA - Bruce Yellowtail, 68, of Wyola passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in the Crow IHS Hospital.
White Cloud "Aakbaaxchiia" was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Crow Agency, a son of Thomas and Susie Walking Bear Yellowtail. He was raised in Wyola and received his education in Wyola and Lodge Grass. He interupted his education to work on the family ranch, working side by side with his father Tom Yellowtail. He became an excellent hand, working cattle and horses for the Tschirgi ranch and riding rough stock for the Greengouh family. During his younger years, he actively participated in the bareback event in area rodeos.
He was adopted by John Trehero, a famed Shoshone medicine man, who was instrumental in the re-introduction of the Sun Dance on the Crow Reservation.
He married Cheryl Jean Jefferson on July 2, 1973, in Sheridan, Wyo., and the couple made their home in Wyola. Bruce retired in 1987 due to ill health.
He entered in the U. S. Army on Sept. 10, 1952, where he was a member of the 7th Division rifle team, as an expert rifleman. He volunterred for combat duty in Korea and received his honorable discharge in Oct. 12, 1960.
Bruce attended heavy equipment school in Illinois and later returned to the Crow Indian Reservation. He worked on various road construction throughout the U. S.
Bruce was baptized as a member of the Baptist Church and later became a member of the Pentecostal Church. He was a member of the Whistling Water Clan and child of the Whistling Water Clan.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who often gave his game to family and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; one brother; one sister; and his adopted father
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Wyola; four daughters, Carrie (Jose') Medina of Wyola; Jackie Yellowtail and Ann (Don) Martin of Hardin; and Gail Yellowtail of Pryor; seven sons, Robert (RJ); Wade and Jamie of Wyola; Dwayne (Renee) of Hardin; Rudy of Fort Belknap; Merlin (Ona) of Rocky Boy; and Thomas (Amy) of Lodge Grass; three sisters, Wilma Whiteclay Brien of Lodge Grass; Virjama Wyles and Constance Jackson of Wyola; two brothers, Thomas (TR) Glenn of Crow Agency; and Don Davies of N.M.; nine adopted daughters, Barbara Gardener, Penny Wells, Kera Pretty Weasel, Barbara Jefferson, Carlene Jefferson, Philemine Spint, Naomi Nomee, Felicia Plain Woman and Tamera Morning; seven adopted sons, George Plenty Hawk, Gavin Jefferson Jr., Victor Dust Jr., Stephen Red Wolf, Chad LaForge, Sean "Jumbo" LaForge and Robert Pretty on Top; one adopted brother, Chuck Wells; his extended family includes the Moccasin, Old Coyote, Old Horn, Hogan, Mountain Pocket and Jefferson families; his Washakie family of Wyoming; Left Hand family of Canada; three special grandchildren whom he helped raise, Terrell, Cheryl "CJ" and Devin; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Thomas DeMond
GLENDIVE - Thomas DeMond, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Glendive Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1918, to Thomas and Mabel Marsh DeMond.
He was proud of service to his country during WWII. He was an avid reader, loved opera music, camping and animals, especially dogs, saying he couldn't trust anyone who didn't like dogs.
Surviving are stepdaughter, Ada Kay McGraw; her grandchildren, Marcie Kading, Mike and Todd McGraw; great-grandchildren, Emily, Hank, Calvin, Morgan, and Mitchel; and all those at the Veterans Home in Glendive who were so special to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona.
Friends may meet 1 p.m. Sunday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8 St. W. and St. Johns for graveside memorial at Huntley cemetery.

Don E. Brennan
Don E. Brennan, 70, of Billings, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his home of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place and at his request no services are planned. Visitation rites of the urn will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge.

Fred L. Brown
BAKER - Fred L. Brown, 71, died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, in Stevenson's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, in the Lakeview Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Bonnievale cemetery. Stevenson's Funeral Home of Baker is in charge.

Evelyn 'Evie' Valness
FAIRVIEW - Evelyn "Evie" Valness, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Sidney Health Center-Extended Care Facility.
Funeral services will at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairview. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Keith H. Zeeb
Keith H. Zeeb, 39, of Billings, passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his home of heart failure.
Keith was born in Highland, Ill., on Oct. 7, 1960, a son of Harold "Pat" and Imogene "Imie" Zeeb. He received his primary, secondary and college education in Illinois and on Aug. 6, 1983, married Montana native Valerie Rolfes in Bellevil1e, Ill. Together they moved to Montana in March of 1991, settling in Billings where Keith served as executive chef at the Holiday Inn Grand for four years. He later worked as assistant director for ARA Services with School District No. 2 and in 1996 took a position with MSU-Billings as the instructor of culinary arts where he founded their Hospitality Management program.
Mr. Zeeb received numerous culinary awards but was most proud of the compliments and tie clasp given to him by President George Bush for the meals he prepared and served during a re-election campaign stop in Billings.
Keith is survived by his wife, Valerie; a son, Ian Cody; two daughters, Mariah Rolfes and Alice Hesse, all of Billings; his father, Pat Zeeb and his wife, Barbara; two brothers, Kevin and his wife, Linda and daughter, Morgan of Morton, Ill., and Kurt Zeeb of Trenton, Ill.
Visitations will begin Wednesday afternoon at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. on Thursday, Dec. 23 at the Smith West Chapel with interment in Belleville, Ill. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to the family at 3344 St. Johns; Billings, MT 59102.

Robert Dana 'Bob' Harper II
HELENA - Robert Dana "Bob" Harper II, age 61, of Helena, died Dec. 19, 1999, in Helena of respiratory failure, due to pulmonary fibrosis. Bob was born June 28, 1938, in Sidney, Mont., to Robert D. and Celestine (Hall) Harper. He attended grade school in Sidney and as a child moved to Shattuck, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1956.
Bob continued his education, attending the University of Duluth where he received a degree in speech communications and minor in psychology. He married Shirley Kringen; later they divorced. Bob married Joann Hanson at St. Pius Catholic Church in Billings Oct. 7, 1983.
Bob spent his entire career in sales and marketing. He started with the Montana Lottery at its inception as a sales representative and remained at that position until the time of his death. Bob and Joann were faithful parishioners of the St. Mary's Catholic Community, where Bob was active in many facets of the church including singing with the St. Mary Choir.
Bob is survived by his wife Joann of Helena; his children, Robert D. "R.D." Harper III, Holly Rebecca Short, Todd C. Hanson, Tamara Wittren and Devra Brown; four brothers, Tom Harper, Bruce Harper, Greg Harper and Jeff Harper; one sister, Mary Ellen Zachman; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place. Memorials in Bob's name are suggested to the American Lung Assn. or to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Retz Funeral Home was in charge.

Charles J. Hoff
SPOKANE, Wash. - Charles J. Hoff, age 91, passed away on Dec. 15, 1999, at a nursing home in Spokane. Charles was born in Lawrenceville Ind., on March 12, 1908. He came to Montana in April 1908 with his parents, Albert and Lucy (Brass) Hoff, where they homesteaded on the Huntley Project.
He attended Huntley Project Schools and graduated in 1926. In August of 1928, he married his high school sweetheart, Doley M. Bartholomew. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August of 1988. Doley passed away in January of 1989.
Charles farmed on the Huntley Project all of his adult working life. He also worked at the Billings sugar beet refinery for 17 campaigns. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.
He came to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Robert Wakenshaw in Spokane in March 1996. He entered an assisted living home in March of 1998 and entered a musing home in September of 1998.
He was preceded in death by his son, Max Hoff in 1976 and his sister, Adele Chestnut. He is survived by his brother, James R. Hoff of Worden Mont., three grandchildren, Karlene Schoedel, Tim Wakenshaw, and Lou Wakenshaw. He also has five great-grandchildren, Amy and Evan Schoedel, Patrick, Molly, and Charles Wakenshaw.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at the Huntley United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Huntley cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Huntley Project Fire Department in Worden. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dean A. Lindberg
DULUTH, Minn. - Dean A. Lindberg, 76, formerly of Billings, died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in St. Mary's Medical Center.
A private committal service will be held on Friday, Dec. 24, in Forest Hill cemetery. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, in First Presbyterian Church. Bell Brothers Funeral, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, is in charge.

Gladys Barnhardt
LAUREL - Gladys Barnhardt, 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec 27, at the New Apostolic Church, 500 15th St. W., in Billings. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of cremation.
