Dora Lee Patten
Dora Lee Patten, 77, of Billings, died at St. John's Lutheran Home from cancer. Dora was born the daughter of Robert L. and Lillian M. (Anderson) Duncan on Jan. 5, 1922, in Red Lodge, Mont. She was raised and attended school in Roberts, graduating from high school in 1941.
Dora served in the armed forces as a WAVE from 1943 to 1946 when she was honorably discharged. Dora then worked in the shipping yards of Bremerton, Wash., before and after her service. In 1946, she moved to Maiden, Maine, then in 1952 to Billings where she has resided since, After moving to Billings. she attended MSU-Bozeman and Rocky Mountain College studying philosophy and literature. Most recently, Dora worked at St. Vincent Hospital. She only recently moved to St. John's Lutheran Home after being diagnosed with liver cancer.
As a member of Faith Chapel, she loved her church. Dora was active in Bible classes and a scholar of the Bible. Dora loved and enjoyed people and they loved her. The numerous friendships that Dora made were the real treasures in her life. She will be remembered for her gift of kindness and loving ways.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Patten of Billings; grandson, Nick Powell of Billings; and brother, Bill Duncan of Runnells, Iowa; and one niece, Robin Duncan Barber of Booneville, Iowa. Dora enjoyed Robin and Robin's six children.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 23, at Faith Chapel on Shiloh and Broadwater. Interment will be in Rockvale cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Chapel. Dahl Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Dagne Jorgensen Berch Lindegaard
SHEPHERD - Elizabeth (Eli) Lindegaard, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at her home in Shepherd.
Elizabeth and her twin sister, Thyra, were born the seventh and eighth children of Jorgen and Kristiane (Olsen) Jorgensen on Aug. 12, 1904, in Owen, Wis. At the age of 3 1/2, their family moved to Dagmar, Mont., a Danish homesteading community.
On Nov. 26, 1924, Elizabeth was married to Goodwin Bergh, making their home and farming at Froid. To this union, five daughters were born.
Goodwin passed away in January. 1965. In September 1967, Elizabeth married her deceased twin sister's husband, Kristen P. Lindegaard, (K. P.). They continued to live in Froid for many years before moving to Solvang, Calif., where they resided until K.P.'s death on Dec. 21, 1981.
During her life, Elizabeth kept an active membership in community and church affairs in Froid, Solvang and Shepherd. She will be missed by many friends and neighbors.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, one brother, two husbands, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
Elizabeth is survived by her five daughters, Elinor Schulz, Shepherd; Esther (Larry) Bengtson, Shepherd; Doris (Vernon) Martinson, Shepherd; Laura (Jack) Barrett, Big Fork; Connie (Dick) Lindborg, Missoula; also six stepchildren, Svend (Jeanne) Lindegaard; Otto (Marianne) Lindegaard, Ruth Lindegaard, Esther Torrens, Ellen (Don) Brashier, all of California, Elise Bates of Oregon; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as a host of nieces, and nephews and many old and new friends.
Funeral services will be conducted and interment at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Shepherd, on Monday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Big Sky Hospice or a charity of choice.

Parker Harris
CODY, Wyo. - Parker Harris, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, at the Ballard Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.

Helen Goold
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Helen Goold, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2051 Colonial Drive. Cremation has taken place. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Emil O. Hecht
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Emil O. Hecht, former Buffalo mayor, died Dec. 14, 1999, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix at the age of 82. At his request, no services will be held.
Mr. Hecht was born Aug. 4, 1917, on the family homestead east of Lake DeSmet to Felix and Flora Hecht. He was raised and educated in Johnson County, graduating from the Buffalo High School in 1937.
He was married on Sept. 4, 1937, to Bette Cash and they made their home in Buffalo where he worked construction. After World War II broke out, they moved to California where he continued to work on construction jobs. He later joined the navy, serving 2 1/2 years, including seven months in Japan. Following his discharge, Mr. Hecht rejoined his family in Buffalo, again working construction, hauling garbage and various other jobs until 1955 when he and his wife purchased Salt Creek Freightway, which they operated for 25 years. He was also a sales agent for Farmers Insurance until retiring in 1980.
While living in Buffalo, Mr. Hecht served as city magistrate for seven years, as county judge for four years, and as mayor for eight years. He was an active member of the American Legion, having served as post commander and as manager of the Legion Club.
For the past 22 years, the Hechts shared time between their home in Phoenix and their son's home in Vista, Calif., returning to Buffalo to visit each summer.
In addition to his widow, Bette, of Phoenix, survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Kay and Jim McCormick of Mesa, Ariz.; Sharon and Jack Brock of Buffalo; and Kristi and Greg Fierros of Phoenix; and one son and his wife, Jerry and Sheila Hecht of Saudi Arabia and Vista, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
When you think of him, remember his favorite farewell, "I'll be seeing you if the Good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise".

Lillian Mae Bridges
WOLF POINT - Lillian Mae Bridges, 95, died on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Trinity Hospital.
Visitations will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 27, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery.

Ann Stiffler
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Ann Stiffler, 93, died on Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Kingdom Hall. Private interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge .

Leslie Jean Cummins
Leslie Jean Cummins was born Dec. 1, 1962, and died Dec. 17, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. Leslie was born in Billings, to Rudolph and Mary Eunice Cummins.
She attended Huntley Project schools through her sophomore year, Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyo., her junior year and graduated from Billings West High Schoo1 in 1981. Leslie graduated from Billings Business College in October 1989 and was employed there through November 1997, leaving due to illness.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family.
She was active in Girl Scouts, a member of Order of Rainbow for Girls, a Grand Cross of Color Recipient, past matron of Jephtheh Chapter No. 116 Order of Eastern Star, Rough Riders and a very inspirational and active member of the Northern Rockies Cancer Center support group..
She participated in the Relay for Life in August 1999.
She is survived by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Ruth (Don) McKenzie, and Mrs. Patricia (Dave) Beddes both of Worden; Mrs. Beverly (Geary) Bargas of Conrad, and one brother, Mr. Bill (Joanne) Cummins of Billings; and a maternal grandmother, Mary Sanborn, of Worden, and numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thomas Sanborn and her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Lucy Cummins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Smith West Chapel. Interment will be at Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine. Memorials to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center or the Relay for Life, c/o American Cancer Society.

Bonnie Jeann Goggin
GREYBULL, Wyo. - Bonnie Jeann Goggin, 56, died at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings on Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999.
A memorial fund has been established at the Security State Bank in Basin where proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. of Basin are in charge of arrangements.

Fred J. 'Chub' DeSonia
GLASGOW - Fred J. "Chub" DeSonia, 88, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, of natural causes at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on May 29, 1911, in Daleview, Mont., the son of Alonzo and Celina DeSonia.
He was raised on his parents' ranch at Daleview, then went to work on the Fort Peck Dam construction. He married Dora Overland at Scobey on April 19, 1936. After their marriage, they built a house in Nashua while they lived in Fort Peck. They had lived in Nashua since.
He served in the U. S. Navy SeaBees during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942-1945 as a chief petty officer. For several years he was a partner in MID Construction, and later he formed DeSonia Construction, mostly building in northeast Montana.
He enjoyed sports, basketball and baseball, and was a baseball catcher and pitcher. They enjoyed dancing. He once got to dance at the Lawrence Welk show. Dora died in Dec. of 1993. He played his tub in the Nashua Senior Citizens Band, and he enjoyed playing cards. Chub was the last survivor of a family of nine.
Survivors are sons, Gilbert (Marilyn) DeSonia of Nashua and Arizona; Norman DeSonia of Wilsall; daughters, Anna Lou (Leo) Bergtoll of Saco; Kay (Ron) Opp of Nashua; special friend, Ruby Willis of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashua with Rev. Chris Flohr officiating. Interment will be in the Nashua City cemetery in Nashua. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Larry G. Wagner
LAUREL - Larry G. Wagner, 53, of Laurel, went to be with the Lord peacefully Monday, Dec. 20, 1999. He was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Hardin, son of Dave and Lila Wagner. His mother, Lila Rose Wagner, preceded him in death. Larry was a gentle, loving and devoted father, son and brother. He enjoyed time with his son, fishing, being outdoors with his father, and time with his family.
Survivors are his son, Brant Michael Wagner of Billings; his father, Dave (Louise) Wagner of Ryegate; his sister, Dianne (Rick) Lenhardt; nephews, Ryan and David and niece, Andrea all of Laurel; and his sister, Donna Wagner of South Haven, Mich.
A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Big Sky Hospice, Box 35033, Billings 59107, or American Cancer Society, 2116 Broadwater, Billings 59102. In charge was Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Theron T. Castle
ROUNDUP - Theron T. Castle, 96, of Roundup passed away Dec. 20, 1999, at the Roundup Memorial Nursing Home of natural causes. He was born on a farm in Fullerton, Neb., to Marshall and Elizabeth Kiel Castle. The family later moved into Fullerton where he went to school and grew up.
The family later moved to Burlington, Colo. On July 25, 1926, he married Bertha Bauder. From this union two children were born to them, Dorothy and Donna Belle.
Theron worked on farms in Colorado and Nebraska. Later they moved to Golden, Colo., where he was a carpenter at the School of Mines until he retired. Then they moved to Roundup, Mont., to be near their daughter, Dorothy Gracey. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Musselshell Rock and Mineral Club and to Retreads.
He liked to fish and hunt and work in his shop.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; one daughter, Dorothy Gracey and one grandson, Rick Williamson and great-grandson, Ross and wife, Janice of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters, and a daughter, Donna Belle Williamson in 1970.
Funeral services will be at Wier Funeral Chapel 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in Roundup. Burial will be in the Roundup City cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church or to the Roundup Museum or charity of your choice.
Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Colwell
JOLIET - At the age of 70, John Colwell died at his home in Joliet from a heart attack. John was born Aug. 27, 1929, to Delbert Marcus (Bill) and Margaret (Wood) Colwell in Apollo, Pa. He attended school in Apollo and was very active in the Rifle Club. In 1946, at age 17, John joined the navy and served on a submarine for four years.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, John was united in marriage to Helen Reefer. He attended Trinidad College and Slippery Rock State College, receiving a bachelors degree in education and industrial arts. John and Helen had three children: Richard of Pendleton, Ore., Linda Chitsey of Dallas, Texas, and Robert of Tulsa, Okla.
Later, John moved to Manderson, Wyo., where he married Carol Fjell. They lived in Manderson until 1997 when they moved to Joliet, Mont., where they have lived since. John and Carol have three daughters: Darcie Sherburne (Deach), Jacquie, and Meggie.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; his children: Richard, Linda Chitsey, Robert, Darcie, Jacquie, and Meggie.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Dahl Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or send a book to your local library.

Bruce Yellowtail
WYOLA - Bruce Yellowtail, 68, of Wyola passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in the Crow IHS Hospital.
White Cloud "Aakbaaxchiia" was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Crow Agency, a son of Thomas and Susie Walking Bear Yellowtail. He was raised in Wyola and received his education in Wyola and Lodge Grass. He interrupted his education to work on the family ranch, working side by side with his father Tom Yellowtail. He became an excellent hand, working cattle and horses for the Tschirgi ranch and riding rough stock for the Greengouh family. During his younger years, he actively participated in the bareback event in area rodeos.
He was adopted by John Trehero, a famed Shoshone medicine man, who was instrumental in the re-introduction of the Sun Dance on the Crow Reservation.
He married Cheryl Jean Jefferson on July 2, 1973, in Sheridan, Wyo., and the couple made their home in Wyola. Brace retired in 1987 due to ill health.
He entered in the U. S. Army on Sept. 10, 1952, where he was a member of the 7th Division rifle team, as an expert rifleman. He volunteered for combat duty in Korea and received his honorable discharge in Oct. 12, 1960.
Bruce attended heavy equipment school in Illinois and later returned to the Crow Indian Reservation. He worked on various road construction throughout the U.S.
Brace was baptized as a member of the Baptist Church and later became a member of the Pentecostal Church. He was a member of the Whistling Water Clan and child of the Whistling Water Clan.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who often gave his game to family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl of Wyola; four daughters, Carrie (Jose') Medina of Wyola; Jackie Yellowtail and Ann (Don) Martin of Hardin; and Gail Yellowtail of Pryor; seven sons, Robert (RJ); Wade and Jamie of Wyola; Dwayne (Renee) of Hardin; Rudy of Fort Belknap; Merlin (Otis) of Rocky Boy; and Thomas (Amy) of Lodge Grass; four sisters, Daisey Leider of Crow Agency; Wilma Whiteclay Brien of Lodge Grass; Virjama Wyles and Constance Jackson of Wyola; two brothers, Thomas (TR) Glenn of Crow Agency; and Don Davies of N.M.; nine adopted daughters, Barbara Gardener, Penny Wells, Kera Pretty Weasel, Barbara Jefferson, Carlene Jefferson, Philemine Spint, Naomi Nomee, Felicia Plain Woman and Tamera Morning; seven adopted sons, George Plenty Hawk, Gavin Jefferson Jr., Victor Dust Jr., Stephen Red Wolf, Chad LaForge, Sean "Jumbo" LaForge and Robert Pretty on Top; one adopted brother, Chuck Wells; his extended family includes the Moccasin, Old Coyote, Old Horn, Hogan, Mountain Pocket and Jefferson families; his Washakie family of Wyoming; Left Hand family of Canada; three special grandchildren whom he helped raise, Terrell, Cheryl "CJ" and Devin; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
