Kelly G. Pereau
Kelly G. Pereau, 31, of Billings, died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, of an accidental gunshot wound. He was born July 20, 1968, the son of John and Arliss Peterson Pereau. Kelly graduated from high school in Colstrip and has worked various jobs since then.
He married Le Annda Beckman and they were later divorced.
Survivors include his parents; three daughters, Misty, Teir and Brandi; one sister, Karen Pereau; a brother, Jon; one niece, Gabrielle; and a nephew, Chase; five aunts, four uncles, and numerous cousins.
Kelly loved his daughters and his special niece and nephew, family and cooking, especially his hot chili and working at his many jobs. He loved music and his friends and was always very generous.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th St. W. and St. Johns Ave. Arrangements were made by Cremation Funeral Gallery.

Irvin M. Ford
LIVINGSTON - Irvin M Ford, 89, died Dec. 13, 1999, at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 16, 1910, in Belgrade, the son of George and Cora (Miller) Ford.
Irvin married Velma Ruegamer on Nov. 10, 1931, in Bozeman. He ranched for a while and then went to work at Montana Livestock Auction in Butte for 15 years. Next, he worked for Billings State Bank in Billings; it later became Norwest Bank and he retired from there in 1975. In 1985, they moved to Bozeman and then to Livingston in January of 1999. Irvin was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Irvin is survived by his wife Velma of Livingston; and two sons, Ken and wife, Lorena of Livingston, and Melvin and wife, Carol of Casper, Wyo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service, 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment of Urn at Sunset Hills cemetery.

Katherine A. Neard
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Katherine A. Neard, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Elks cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Ellen Trang
FAIRVIEW - Ellen Trang, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery.

Lynn Lamont Turner
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Lynn Lamont Turner, 55, died in her home on Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Sidney cemetery after gathering at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Milton 'Mickey' Straight
CLEARMONT - Milton Lloyd "Michey" Straight, 57, died at his home Monday, Dec. 13, 1999.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Willow Grove cemetery with military honors. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Sturtz
JORDAN - Mary Sturtz, 91, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church prior to the service. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the church with interment following in the family lot of the Pioneer cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Katherine B. Mavencamp
SACO - Katherine B. Mavencamp, 60, died at her daughter's home in Malta on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, of cancer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Adams Memorial Chapel in Malta with interment in the Forks Community cemetery at Whitewater. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.

Beatrice A. Murray
Beatrice A. Murray, 100, of Billings, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 13, 1999, at Aspen Meadows Retirement Community. She was born in Enfield, Middlesex, England, on July 25, 1899, the daughter of Ernest and Amy (Gold) Murray.
Her family migrated to the United States and settled in Lewstown, Mont., where she graduated from high school. In the 1920s, the family moved to Billings and purchased the home that is now Juliano's Restaurant. In 1943, she began working for Coleman, Jameson & Lamey, which later became Crowley Law Firm, and retired in 1970, following 27 years of dedicated service. During retirement, Beatrice enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her many acquaintances and special friends. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a past member of Eastern Star.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Michelotti, Sawyers, & Norquist. Private interment will be in Mountview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 119 N. 33rd St., Billings, MT 59101.

Frank Sticka
Frank Sticka, 76, quietly passed away in his sleep early Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Parkview Care Center. He fought a courageous battle after sustaining a severe head injury on May 29, 1992.
Born in Saint Pius, N.D., on March 22, 1923, the son of Jacob and Rosa (Heidt) Sticka. He was raised on the family farm until they moved to Sidney, Mont. Frank entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 9, 1944, along with his two brothers Louie and Joe. The three of them were shipped out to the territory of Hawaii. Frank received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Frank served with the 972nd Signal Service Battalion as a sergeant. He was a motor noncommissioned officer supervising and directing the activities and operations of 20 personnel, including drivers and operating heavy, light and various other military vehicles. Set up, executed and maintained schedules, routing and the assignment of drivers to vehicles, including the transportation of special equipment. Responsible for the proper handling and hauling of radar, radar equipment and all supplies and equipment for the signal corps operations. Frank received an honorable discharge on March 17, 1946, from Fort Lewis, Wash.
He met his bride to be, May Mischel, in Sidney, and they married April 12, 1948. In 1954, after starting a family, they moved to Billings. With mobile home and family in tow, they moved from job to job, state to state, while working in the construction field with Holland Construction. R.J, Studer and Sons, Prince Inc., and Mike Holland. He built roads and dams all over Montana, Wyoming, Washington and Idaho and mined gold in Alaska. In 1976 Frank and May bought a farm on the Clarks Fork River. Mom and Dad raised farm animals and pets until her death.
Frank later married Kathern A. Webb. Survivors include his four sons and their wives, Gordon and his wife, Rita; Miles and his wife, Mary (PeeWee), all of Billings; Jerry and his wife, Sandy of Belfry; Gerard and his wife, Evelyn, of Boulder City, Nev.; four daughters and their husbands, Kathleen and Anton Kydland of Billings; Darlene and Marvin Stephens of Big Timber; Marlene and Mike Walter of Billings; and Kim and Ed Evanson of Billings. Also 30 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph and his wife Katie; sisters Rose and Francis Bayer, Monica and Don Zoanni, all of Sidney; Joan Ostrum of Fort Shaw; sister-in-laws Leona Sticks of Billings; Delores (Sticka) Soelter of Dolensprings, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sisters, Theresa (Mike) Bosch, Emma, Betty (Bob) Gonzales, Baida (Joe) Heiser; and an infant sister at birth; brothers, John (Margaret), Louis and Jack.
He loved fishing, playing cards and telling his funny stories. Dad will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Keep that big smile of yours no matter where you go.
Cremation has taken place. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Smith's Funeral Chapel Downtown. Memorial service will be held at 10 a. m Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Smith's Funeral Chapel Downtown. Interment of ashes will follow services at Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

William J. Burgess
FAIRVIEW - William J. Burgess, 87, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the Sidney Health Care-Extended Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the Four Mile cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Kathryn H. Wright
Kathryn H. Wright, 87, of Billings, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Canon City, Colo., the daughter of Homer and Maude (Baker) Hutchinson.
She attended schools in Canon City and Denver and graduated in 1934 from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley. She married Robert C. Wright on Jan. 6, 1935, in Haxtun, Colo. The Wrights had no children.
Kathryn joined the Billings Gazette staff in October of 1942 as general reporter, photographer, and feature writer. She was the first woman in the history of The Gazette to cover city, county, state, and federal beats. She had come with her late husband, Robert, from Sterling, Colo., where she had been general reporter from 1937 to 1941 for The Sterling Advocate.
In her years on the Gazette, Mrs. Wright had been women's editor, Sunday Magazine editor since 1961 and director of special supplements such as: fashion sections, sports activity winter-summer sections, cookbooks, Yellowstone Park Centennial tabloid, editor of the column Consult Kathryn, editor in 1969 of the Lee Enterprises house organ, Land of Lee, and first editor of the Gazette's tabloid, Enjoy!
Mrs. Wright was author of several freelance historical features published in national magazines and was author of the booklet, "Billings - the Magic City and How It Grew", co-author with her husband of the state history, "Montana - Territory of Treasures, " a western novel, "Seek the North Star, " and she was the author of "Historic Homes of Billings."
She conducted workshops in feature writing for Montana Federation of Press Women, taught article writing for Billing School District No. 2 adult education classes and lectured on Montana history throughout the eastern part of the state. She was the discoverer in 1956 of Custer battle loot cached in a monument on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.
Mrs. Wright had been first-place winner in National and Montana Federation of Press Women writing and editing contests several times during her membership in the organizations. She also was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Billings; P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter S; Yellowstone Art Associates; Western Heritage Center; Outlaws and Lawmen Association, Yellowstone Valley Historical Society, Western Writers of America, Yellowstone Corral of the Westerners, honorary member of U.S. Navy flight demonstration team Blue Angels, Billings Symphony Society's Women's Committee, and was one of the first women in the northwest to join the honorary journalism fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi, when it opened membership to women.
Kathryn was listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who of Western Women, and Who's Who of Women in Communications.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, 1001 Alderson Ave.

William (Bill) Newton Sylvis
BOZEMAN - William (Bill) Newton Sylvis, 86, of Bozeman, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 12, 1999, in Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
Bill was born on March 9, 1913, to Charles Addison and Mabel Augusta (Bracken) Sylvis in Craig, Neb. He lived the early part of his life in Blair, Neb. Bill farmed in Washington County, Neb., until early in 1952, when he moved his family to Montana.
He leased and farmed the Wylie and Butler ranches from the Flying D until 1954 when he moved to Bozeman. He was then employed by the Animal Science Department at Montana State University as beef herdsman, until he retired in 1975.
He loved to hunt and fish, and in later years traveling to see relatives and friends. He especially enjoyed the Seattle area, and would stay for extended periods with his son and daughter-in-law.
Bill married Francine Eriksen on May 25, 1934, in Beatrice, Neb. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, and his children: Russell W. (Libby) Sylvis of Bozeman; Sharon R. (Edgar) Icenoggle of Belgrade; and Charles A. (Joanne) Sylvis of Redmond, Wash. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Daniel C. Sylvis and Katie Sylvis of Bozeman; Jodi (Bryan) Robertson of Bozeman; Lance (Tina) Icenoggle of Billings; Christopher Sylvis and Sean Sylvis of Redmond, Wash., and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers, Charles Addison, Jr.; Russell Bracken, Robert John, Bernard Brice, and Aubert Clark Sylvis.
Private family graveside services will be held. Friends may remember him by contributing to the Gallatin Valley Humane Society, 2125 N. Rouse, Bozeman 59715; the American Red Cross, 300 N. Willson, Suite 105A, Bozeman, 59715; or a charity of choice.

Jennie E. Baker
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Jennie E. Baker, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Westview Health Care Center.
Viewing will be until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, from Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside Service will at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Norman C. Redstone
WOLF POINT - Norman (Stormin) Curtis Redstone, 45, died on Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in an automobile accident near Wolf Point along with his daughter.
Visitations for Norman, and his daughter Angie, will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Frazer High School. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Bernice Gladys Brecht Haugan
LAUREL - Bernice Gladys Brecht Haugan, 66, formerly of Columbus, passed away in her sleep into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Dec. 13, 1999.
Bernice was born in Hebron, N.D., on Aug. 12, 1933, to her parents, Fred and Martha Brecht. She attended school in Hebron before movingd with her family to Columbus, where she graduated from high school as class valedictorian.
She was proud of her service in the U.S. Marine Corps during the '60s. She worked as a licensed practical nurse until she retired in 1995. She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Roy and Robert Brecht.
Survivors include a sister Alice (Eddie) Travis of Billings; her longtime and dearest friend, Marge Gaab; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Brecht and Betty Brecht; and nieces and nephews,
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Laurel. Committal of cremated remains will be at Mountainview cemetery, Columbus, with military honors. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of cremation and services.

Milton Almon White
CUSTER - Milton Almon White, 94, died Dec. 10, 1999, at his home in Custer. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Custer Congregational Church at 11 a.m., following a brief graveside service, with Rev. Thomas Hastings.
Mr. White was born Nov. 21, 1905, at 524 Delmont St. Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of Edwin Matson White and Nellie Missouri Bartley White. The family moved to Montana in 1915 to homestead on a ranch (Springhaven) 25 miles north of Custer, where he lived until 1937. At that time he moved into Custer where he worked with the State Highway Department.
On July 16, 1938, he married Mildred Ruth Barker in Pittsburgh, Pa. During the late 1930's and 1940's he trucked, worked with the Highway Dept., and managed the Custer Grain Elevator.
In 1952, he built a small store and went into business for himself, selling building materials, and doing all kinds of home building, remodeling and repairing.
During his retirement years he especially enjoyed working for and with the Custer Senior Citizens and kept their building (which had been his hardware store) in good condition. He loved gardening and sharing his produce with others.
He is survived by two daughters, Gale and her husband Leslie Carper of Atlantic, Iowa, and Carol and her husband Marvin Parmer of Wyoming, Iowa; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1992, three brothers, and two sisters.
Thanks to all of Milt's friends and relatives in the greater Custer area, he was able to live a long and relatively independent life in his own home.
Memorials may be made to Junction City Senior Citizens Center in Custer or Yellowstone County Visiting Nurses. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
