ROUNDUP - Betty Mae Moseman, 73, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at the Roundup Memorial Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Wier Funeral Chapel. Wier Funeral Home is in charge.

Mark George McGuire
Mark George McGuire, infant son of Dwight and Svetlana McGuire of Billings, was stillborn at St. Vincent Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999. No services are planned.

Perry L. Olson
FORSYTH - On Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, we lost our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Perry Olson.
Perry was born in Underwood, Minn., on Nov. 21, 1914, the son of Henry and Mary Watlov Olson. As a youngster, his family moved to Fairview, Mont., where he grew up and was educated.
On July 5, 1935, Perry married the love of his life, Louise Seader. Soon after their marriage, Perry and Louise moved to the Rosebud area where they engaged in farming and ranching for over 30 years. To this union were born three children: Gloria (Don) Coutts of Red Lodge, Richard (Virginia) Olson of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Wayne (Kathleen) Olson of Billings.
Perry was an active member of his community, serving on the FHA board and the Cartersville and Rosebud School boards for many years. He was always there for his friends, neighbors and family. His steady, guiding hand will be sorely missed.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Louise; sisters, Daisy, Emily, and Betty; a brother, Jesse; and grandson, T.J. Farris. He is survived by his three children; sisters, Alice, Helen and Pat; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel. Interment to follow in the Forsyth cemetery. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth assisted the family with these arrangements.

Lauren Martin Hetland Sr.
SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Lauren Martin Hetland Sr., 78, a retired Air Force chief master sergeant who was wounded in action in World War II, died of emphysema Nov. 23, 1999, at his home in Springfield.
Mr. Hetland, a native of Joliet, Mont., joined the Army Air Forces in 1943 and served as a radio operator-gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator heavy bomber. In July 1944, his plane was shot down, and he was wounded during the campaign for Saipan, part of the Mariana Islands in the western Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war, Mr. Hetland returned to civilian life. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he majored in business administration. In 1948, he joined the Air Force and had a career as an auditing and accounting technician. He served at various bases in the United States, including the Washington area, and in France, Japan and Panama.
In 1968, he retired from the service, moved to the Washington area and went to work for the General Accounting Office as an auditor, He retired a second time in 1988.
His wife, Elsie Hetland, died in 1992.
Survivors include two children, Lauren Martin Hetland Jr. of Springfield and Jane Stevenson of Phoenix; a brother, Donald Hetland of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Nadine Hetland of Billings, Mont.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at Demaine Springfield-Annadale Funeral Chapel, Backlick and Edsall Roads, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Monday at Fort Myer Old Post Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia.

Julia Black Eagle
LODGE GRASS - Julia Black Eagle, 65, of Lodge Grass, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 in Billings.
D'uuptako Ischi Dalaxish "Singing Bold Eagle" was born July 29, 1934 in Crow Agency, a daughter of Matthew and Minnie Saco Good Luck. She grew up in the St. Xavier area and attended the St. Xavier Boarding School.
Julia married Moses Myers Black Eagle on May 30, 1847. The couple made their home in Lodge Grass. Her church and her family were her life. Always making her home a focal point of gatherings and preparing meals for her family and friends.
She was a member of the Crow Revival Pentecostal Church, Ties the Bundle Clan and a child of the Big Lodge Clan. She loved to bead.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include four daughters, Geneva (Robert) Chandler of Hardin, Charlene, Carol and Lucinda Black Eagle of Lodge Grass; two Sons, Marion (Colleen) and Larry (Samatha) Black Eagle of Lodge Grass; one adopted daughter, Harriett Don't Mix of Wyola; four adopted sons, Bernard (Joann) Jack of Canada and John Pretty On Top and Joshua and Jeremy Black Eagle of Lodge Grass; one sister, Pauline Kills of Washington; three brothers, Lewis Good Luck, Sr. of Pryor, Ralph (Irene) and Al (Gloria) Good Luck of Lodge Grass; eight children whom she raised as her own, Jerrod Black Eagle, Evelyn Howe, Veronica Good Luck, Dennis Bravo, Clayton Good Luck, Tyrone Bravo and Beatrice Black Eagle; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a special niece, Bernadine Evans of Washington; and members of the Covers Up family.
Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Crow Agency Revival Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

William J. Pinter
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - William Joseph Pinter, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at the VA Mediacal Center.
Viewing will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily and from 8-10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Champion Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

Tim Newhart
COLUMBUS - Tim Newhart, 63, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in Billings from complications of a stroke. Tim was born in Cody, Wyo., April 2, 1936, the son of Don and Jean Newhart.
He was raised in the mountains near Cody on the North Fork and spent time trapping and hunting on snowshoes and horseback. His mother home-schooled him and later he attended Cody High School.
Tim was a brilliant, self-taught mechanic. He could build and fix anything. He had incredible talent and a knowledge of almost everything. He enjoyed modifying and improving the way things worked. He spent many years working for Luchinbill Construction of Columbus and doing odd jobs for his friends there.
Tim was cherished and admired by his friends. He was a kind, big-hearted, thoughtful, most gracious and unique man. When God made Tim He broke the mold.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Teddy, and father, Don Newhart. He is survived by his mother, Jean Newhart of John Day, Ore., as well as two nephews, a niece, and her two children.
He left behind many people who loved and admired him. We will miss you Tim.
Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be scattered near Cooke City in summertime.

Perry L. Olson

Milian Hollen
WILLISTON, N.D. - Milian Hollen, 75, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at the Mercy Center in Williston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at the Assembly of God Church. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at Everson Funeral Home, and Saturday for an hour before the services at the church.

Harlan R. Russell
PLACERVILLE, Calif. - Harlan R. Russell, 84, died on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, of natural causes.
Harlan was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Tilden, Ky. He married Bessie Eyre who died in 1995.
Harlan built the Russell Motel, in Laurel, Mont., after WWII. He was a member of Sons in Retirement, the Masonic Lodge in Montana and Cold Springs Country Club in Placerville. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in his fifth wheel trailer, talking and being with people, golf and was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Laster of Mountain View, Calif., and Mary Jane Kayes of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Dorris Russell of Sturgis, Ky.; and brother, Morris Russell of Smithland, Ky.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at Augusta cemetery in Augusta, Mont. O'Connor Funeral Home of Great Falls is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Snowline Hospice, 7563 Green Valley Road, Placerville, Calif. 95667.

Mark Ackerman
Mark Ackerman, 34, of Billing, s passed from this life into the arms of his maker on Nov. 30, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev., after suffering from a long and difficult illness.
As a friend of Bill W's, Mark was active in helping other alcoholics. Mark was also very active as a volunteer for the Yellowstone AIDS Project.
Mark had a positive impact on anyone he came in touch with and knew no enemies, only friends and friends he had not yet met. Mark's only regrets were leaving those he loved so dearly, especially his daughter Tiersa.
Mark was originally from Torrance, Calif. He is survived by his daughter Tiersa Kock of Billings; parents Robert and Betty Knudson of Oxnard, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law James & Heera Ackerman of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandparents Doyle and Vi Barr of California; aunts and uncles, Richard Scott, Ed and Sue Reinsch, and Dave and& Peggy Hyatt; nephews James, Jin and Robert Ackerman; cousins Kevin and Stacey O'Rourke, Lowell and Laura Johnson, Vicki O'Rourke, and Richard and Vince Beaumont.
A prayer service for family and friends will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 13, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1935 Ave. B. Memorials should be made to the Mark Ackerman Memorial Fund. Goodbye dear friend, you will be missed always!

Marvel Nelson
Marvel Nelson, 89, of Billings, died on Dec. 6, 1999. She was born on March 9, 1910, in International Falls, Minn., the daughter of Anna Soiheim and Alexander Thibert. The family moved to Henderson, Mont., and then to Missoula where she lived for most of her life. She divided her time between Missoula and Billings for the past 18 years.
She married Carroll Nelson on May 9, 1936. Carroll was the manager of Western Montana Production Credit Association until his death in 1964.
Marvel is survived by daughter Joyce Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Homer Staves of Billings, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one great-great grandchild.
She often said, "This is a great life if you don't weaken." Her love of family and friends, sense of humor, and deep religious beliefs sustained her throughout her life. This beautiful daughter, wife, grandmother, friend, and child of Christ is now with her Beloved Jesus.
A memorial service will be held at Thursday, Dec. 9, at 3:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given in Marvel's name to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 2929 Colton Blvd., Billings, MT 59102.

John Clayton Williams
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - John Clayton "Jack" Williams, 93, formerly of Belfry, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, in Mountainview Medical Center in White Sulphur Springs where he had resided since April of 1998.
Jack was born on April 27, 1906, in Ponoka, Alta., Canada, a son of Herbert and Viola Maude Williams. The family moved to the Luther area when he was 9 years old. Jack attended the Jackson and Draper schools.
On July 19, 1926, Jack married Anna J. Lorash in Red Lodge. They lived in the Joliet area until moving to the Tolman Ranch at Clark, Wyo., in 1941. After leaving Tolman's, Jack worked on ranches in the White Sulphur Springs area until moving to Belfry in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, two sons, two grandsons, and two sons-in-law.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Nottingham and Viola Braten, both of Belfry, and Patricia Arthun of Joliet; seven sons, Charles of Hardin, Ray of Harlem; Vernon of Lewiston, Idaho; Ronald of Nampa, Idaho; Bill of Joliet; Elmer of Tucson, Ariz.; and Melvin of Amada, Ariz.; one sister, Fern Huver of Minn.; 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jack is also survived by his long-time companion, Carrie Stidham of White Sulphur Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, in the Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. Interment will be in the John Henry cemetery.
