The first four years of Lenore's schooling were in Spanish Fork, Utah. The Lewis family then moved to Burley, Idaho, where Lenore finished her secondary schooling and went on to complete a two-year course at Albion Normal School in Albion, Idaho. She taught in Burley, Idaho, for three years - history, algebra, band and voice chorus. Lenore attended Utah State University where she completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree in Education. She also attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City.
