Wayne W. Larsen
SALT LAKE CITY - Wayne W. Larsen, 46, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000. He was born May 15, 1953, in Billings to Charles M. and Betty Larsen.
Wayne graduated from Billings West High in 1971 and attended Eastern Montana College. He held many prominent positions, some in retailing management, insurance, and owning and operating his own companies in the computer field. Wayne was always ready to meet a challenge He was an avid participant in canoeing, bicycling, scuba diving, running, and especially enjoyed competing in the Peak to Prairies event.
He is survived by his parents of Billings; his loving and devoted wife, Sue of Taylorsville, Utah; his two sons, Joshua of Seattle and David of Renton, Wash.; his two sisters, Donnie Jean Galloway (Jack) of Spokane and Shawnda Goodson (Rory) of Vancouver, Wash; his brother, Bill Larsen (Lorri) of Spokane, Wash.; his stepdaughter, Mindy Haroon (Moiz) of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Carl W. Lockrem
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Carl W. Lockrem passed away Jan. 14, 2000, in San Diego. Carl was born April 10, 1909, in Park River, N.D., and moved to Billings at the age of 17. He was a Billings resident until the early 1940s when he moved to San Diego.
He was employed at Convair Aircraft until his retirement.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (McCracken) of Billings and three sisters, Alice Lockrem, Bydrie Spacht and Amy Werle and one brother, Lloyd. Carl is survived by his daughter, Carol of San Diego and two brothers, Andrew of Auburn, Calif., Bonar of LaCosta, and a sister, Gladys O'Donnell of Chula Vista, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Jan 20, in San Diego.

Bill C. Petersen
WESTBY - Bill C. Petersen, 93, of Westby, died Thursday in Plentywood.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Westby. Interment will follow at the Emmaus cemetery (6 miles on the Emmaus Road which is at mile marker 19.4 on Highway 5 just west of Westby). Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge.

Esther Potts
HARDIN - Our mother Esther Potts passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000. She had resided at the Heritage Acres Nursing Home in Hardin the last 13 years due to complications of a stroke. Even though she was disabled, her mind was always bright and witty. She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with friends old and new.
Mom kept her wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. Mom was an excellent cook and we will always remember her delicious pies and the wonderful homemade candies she made, especially at Christmas time.
Esther was born July 4, 1921, a daughter of George and Mollie Groskop Dumler in Haigville, Neb. She moved to Montana in 1930 with her parents and two brothers.
She married Harold Potts May 18, 1940, in Red Lodge, and they made their home in Custer where they raised four children.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, who passed away Jan. 4, 1996; and two brothers, Herman and George Dumler.
She is survived by her four children, Sharon (Jerry) Engle of Whitehall, Dennis (Virginia) Potts of Sheridan, Wyo., Linda Slattery and Loretta (Chuck) Davis of Hardin; eight grandchildren, J.D. (Deb) Engle of Bozeman, Lisa (D.W.) Eiler of Billings, Lori (Armando) Valdez of Savannah, Ga., Leann (Michael) Gilberg and Ivy Slattery of Boise, Idaho, Steven Davis, Denny and Jason Potts of Hardin; five great-grandchildren, Erica Pitsch, Kacie Engle, Kenadi Eiler, Madison Eller and Jack Valdes. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bill (Betty) Potts of Rosebud; sisters-in-law, Marie Dumler of Billings, Edith Potts of Huntley, Doris Potts of Park City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Graveside services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in the Custer cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Acres for their kindness and special care given to our mother.
Our Hearts are filled with sorrow, there is little we can say, only time and our memories can comfort us since God has taken you away. We love you mom - rest in peace. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Custer Congregational Church, Custer Park, or Heritage Acres.

Leo C. Bratsky
BRIDGER - Leo C. Bratsky, 74, a lifelong resident of the Bridger area, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 28, 2000, at Western Manor in Billings following a lengthy illness.
Leo was born on Aug. 30, 1925, in Bridger, a son of Leo and Frances Bratsky. He attended Sand Creek and Fromberg Schools.
On Nov. 1, 1944, he married Louise J. Brown in Austin, Texas. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Leo served with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After his discharge, Leo and Louise farmed north of Bridger, where they raised their four children. In 1988, they settled in Bridger.
Leo was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 10th Mountain Division Veterans, American Legion, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a longtime director of the Montana Beetgrowers Association, served on the Bridger City Council, school board, fair board, and was a 4-H leader. Leo was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish of Bridger.
Survivors include his wife, Louise J. Bratsky of Bridger; his four children and their spouses, Jim (Suzanne) Bratsky of Bozeman, Pat (Don) Strachan of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Ralph (Donna) Bratsky of Bridger, and Linda (Lyle) Lacock of Hinsdale; eight grandchildren, Kevin and David Bratsky, Don and Darryl Strachan, Jay and Dana Bratsky, and LeAnn and Levi Lacock; one brother, Hank (Betty) Bratsky of Bridger and three sisters, Mary Joy of Seattle, Frances (Leo) Kelsey of Bridger, and Lillian (Frank) Salo of Belfry.
"Dad and Grandpa, you were an inspiration to us all, and you will always be held dear in our hearts. You were so easy to love."
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bridger. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Church. Rite of Committal will be in the Bridger cemetery with Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the VFW, Jim Bridger Post #1543, Bridger, MT 59014, or to the charity of one's choice.

Signe Brown
MILES CITY - Signe Brown, age 87, of Miles City, formerly of Livingston, passed away, and at her request, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Livingston cemetery. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Madge Dillon
DENVER, Colo. - Madge Dillon, 73, formerly of Billings, Mont., died on Jan. 26, 2000, in Denver, Colo. Madge was born Sept. 21, 1926, at Ismay, Mont., the daughter of William and Thelma (Jones) Malmquist.
On February 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Virgil Franklin Dillon. Virgil passed away Feb. 2, 1964. Madge grew up on her parents ranch in the Tee Dee area of Carter County, Mont., going to rural elementary school via horseback. In 1937, during the depression, the family moved to Ekalaka, Mont., where she completed her education, graduating valedictorian of her high school class in 1944.
Upon graduation, she joined her husband, who was stationed at Fort Logan in Denver and began her career as a secretary in a tailor shop. When her husband was sent overseas during World War II, she moved to Long Beach, Calif., continuing her secretarial career realizing this was not a full-time career for her.
After the war, she returned to Ekalaka with her husband and served 10 years in the Carter County Treasurers office as a deputy and county treasurer. During that time, she studied for and obtained an accounting degree from LaSalle Extension University in Chicago, Ill. in 1957.
In 1958, the family moved to Billings, where she began her insurance career with Transwestern Life Insurance Company. In 1972, Madge was transferred to Denver, and there obtained the designation Fellow in Life Management, a degree in Life Insurance Taxation from the College of Insurance in New York and from the Health Association of America was awarded Cum Laude Principals of Health Insurance Part I and II.
Upon retirement in 1983, Madge was serving as vice president and treasurer of three life insurance companies and a holding company. Her main goal in the industry was to help all that worked with her to learn the industry and move through the ranks as she had done. Her philosophy in life was that if you smile, the world smiles with you and do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
Madge began another career in the arts, becoming a certified ceramic teacher, having classes for senior citizens. She also became a fine arts artist in oils, watercolors, fabric painting and taught classes in these fields of endeavor. She was also an avid bridge player and golfer.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7885, the Congregational Church, Republican Party, the Denver Art Student League, and a member of Ports of Call Singles and Touch of Class Singles, which was a professional group who sponsored cancer research. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in Finance and Industry and entered Notable Americans of the Bicentennial Era.
A daughter, Cynthia Denton of Hobson, Mont.; brother-in-law, Spud Dillon of Alaska; sister-in-law, Pat Freese of Bozeman, Mont., along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends survive Madge.
Her husband; parents; sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Harold Major and brother, Robert W. Malmquist preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Monday, Jan. 31, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Dahl's at 11 a.m., with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow interment. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Madge Malmquist Dillon Education Trust Fund in care of Kathy Stieg, HC 49, Box 26, Hammond, MT 59332.

Lillian V. Ferrell
MALTA - Lillian V. Ferrell, age 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the Missouri River Manor Nursing Home in Great Falls of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Adams Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Malta cemetery.

Dorothy Jean Hilligardt Frazier
Dorothy Jean Hilligardt Frazier, 78, of Billings, died on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 26, 2000, at home with her daughter, Polly Jackson and granddaughter, Stephanie Jackson, MD at her side.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the LDS Church located at 2929 Belvedere Drive. Burial will be in the Riverview cemetery in Needles, Calif. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of local arrangements.

Madelyn Pearl Fuller
WORLAND, Wyo. - Madelyn Pearl Fuller, 71, died on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the Community Care of America.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held later. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge.

Mary Joyce Hidy
LEWISTOWN - May Joyce Hidy, 77, of Lewistown and formerly of Livingston, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Family and friends will gather at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N. Third St. in Livingston, and proceed to Mountain View cemetery for graveside committal and interment at 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the Livingston Bible Church.

Kurtlyn Rackail Iron
CROW AGENCY - Our beloved Kurtlyn Rackail Iron, 18 months old, went home to be with her heavenly Father Thursday Jan.27, 2000.
She was born July 20, 1998, in Crow Agency, a daughter of Curtis and Nicole Bear Claw Iron. Kurtlyn was a happy, blessed child, enjoying the love of all her family. She was bright, lovable and friendly. She was a member of the Ties the Bundle Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan.
Kurtlyn was greatly blessed with a wealth of family. Survivors include her parents; one sister, Kimberley; and five generations of grandparents which include her maternal grandparents, Doreen (Grant) Stewart, Michael (Laura) Horn; great grandparents, James (Annabelle) White, Roseline (Loren) Old Bear, Darrel (Barbara) Bright Wings; great-great-grandparents, Francis (Bertha) Bear Claw, Mary Ann Bright Wings and Joanne Horn; her paternal grandparents, Colleen (Frederick) Left Hand, Clinton (Corliss) Iron, Ricky Stops; great-grandparents, Pansy Hugs, Nathelle Jefferson, Melvin (Aurelia) Stops; great-great-grandparents, Winona Plenty Hoops, Evelyn Old Elk, Iola Medicine Horse, Franklin Plenty Hoops and Sylvia (Harold) Moss; her God parents, Tina and Conrad Alden and her uncles, Ramon White, Clinton Iron, Jr., Myron Falls Down, Jr. and Michael Bear Claw, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church Gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Leona B. Lull
BROADUS - Leona B. Lull, age 83, of Broadus, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Powder River Congregational Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Valley View cemetery. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Zent Manning
HYSHAM - Margaret Zent Manning, 98, of Hysham, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center in Billings.
Margie was born March 3, 1901, in Berwick, N.D., the daughter of Matt and Mary Bott Zent. She moved with her family to Hysham in 1913 where she attended schools, graduating from Hysham High School.
On March 9, 1922, Margie married James P. Manning in Sand Point, Idaho. They lived in Helena from 1938 to 1941 and operated the Big Horn Store from 1941-1946. When they returned to Hysham, Margie worked as a bookkeeper for Zent Hardware, which later became Manning International, until retiring at the age of 96. Margie has lived the last three years in Billings until recently moving to St. John's Lutheran Home.
Margie was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society in Hysham. She will be remembered for her humility, deep faith, and love of family and friends.
She is survived by her seven children: Margaret (Erwin) Heberle of Forsyth, Jere (Doris) Manning of Hysham, Robert Manning of Hilo, Hawaii, Ronald Manning of Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn Manning of Hysham, Sharon (Willis) Rexford of Billings, and Colleen (Wayne) Suhr of Billings; three sisters, Cecelia Carroll of Billings, Bea Geurkink of Hysham, and Dolores Young of Spokane, Wash.; 29 grandchildren as well as numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Manning in June, 1983,; two brothers, Herb and Harold Zent; her sister, Leona Wohl; and her granddaughter, Kristin Heberle.
Rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hysham cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's Altar Society, P.O. Box 226, Hysham, MT 59038 or the charity of own personal choice. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with the arrangements.
