Laura McHenry Kuenzi
BONNERS FERRY, Ida. - Laura McHenry Kuenzi, 47, of Bonners Ferry, Ida., died on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 from complications of pneumonia.
Laura was born in Billings, Mont. on Aug. 32, 1952, the daughter of Charles C. and Betty Jean (Wilson) McHenry. She received her education in Billings, attending Billings Senior High School.
She married Rick Waltz and together they lived in Roundup where Laura spent free time bowling with her league friends. Later in her life, Laura married Howard "Mac" Kuenzi, and they established their home together in Hayden, Idaho and had recently moved to Bonners Ferry.
Laura is survived by her husband Mac; her father and stepmother, Chuck and Rozella McHenry; a brother, Charlie McHenry; and her sister, Della Rae Pickens. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty J. Roberts; her grandfather, Joe L. Wilson; and her grandmother, Della R. Parmly.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the LDS East Stake Center, 1640 Broadmoor Drive. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Jaski
SCOBEY, Mont. - Frank Jaski, 81, life long farming resident of Daniels County, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Daniels Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Scobey. Burial in Scobey cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth "Betty" Heidema
Elizabeth "Betty" Heidema, 73, of Billings passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Western Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Billings, the daughter of Louis and Nellie (DeLeeuw) Heidema. She was raised east of Billings and attended rural schools and Shepherd school.
Betty worked as a photo finisher all of her life in Billings and from 1955 to 1989 in Chicago, Ill. She returned to Billings in 1989.
Survivors include a sister, M. Swanie Dollmeyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a close friend Vilma Kraft of Billings, and 29 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ed, Pete, George, Jack, Louis, Jr., and Henry Heidema, and three sisters, Ida Fisher, Jo Heidema, Nellie Heidema.
Viewing will be Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, 7-9 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the New Apostolic Church, 500 15th Street West, Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Apostolic Church, c/o Ken Szillat, 560 Indian Trail, Billings, MT 59105.

Curtis G. Finnicum
LEWISTOWN - Curtis Garver Finnicum, 72, of Lewistown, Mont. passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 7, 2000, after a long illness.
Curt was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Sidney, Montana, the ninth of the ten children of Bernie and Mae Holt Finnicum.
He was raised on a farm between Mona and Andes and schooled in Mona and Culbertson, Montana. He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and was stationed in Japan immediately following World War II. After his discharge as a Sergeant he returned to Culbertson, where he worked for the Standard Oil Company.
In 1949, Curt was united in marriage to Betty Jo Wix. After 45 years of marriage, Betty Jo preceded him in death in 1994.
Curt and Betty resided in Culbertson, where their first three children were born; Linda in 1949, Curt in 1951 and Peggy in 1957. The family then moved to Lewistown, where he ran the Standard Oil Bulk Plant. Curt then became Central Montana's State Farm agent for 25 years. "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" and Curt was always there for his clients.
In Lewistown, Curt and Betty's last three children were born; Boyd in 1959, and their twin boys, Mark and Michael in 1961.
Curt raised all of his children to have a strong work ethic, loyalty to family, to stand up for their principles and to always use good common sense.
Curt loved to golf and was most proud when his sons and then his grandchildren could beat him on the golf course. Curt always made sure that the littlest grandkids caught the biggest fish and everyone enjoyed going out with Curt and Betty Jo on their boat on Crystal Lake. He loved his evening drives down spring creek to count the deer. At home, his neighbor's can testify that if his lawn mower wasn't running-it must be winter and that noise was the snow blower.
Curt Finnicum is survived by his children and their spouses: Daughter Linda and Phil Westbrook of Lacey, Wash., Son Curt Finnicum of Shepherd, Daughter Peggy and Mark Rowe of Ronan, Son Boyd and Mary Finnicum of Billings and Colstrip, Son Mark and Jackie Finnicum of Douglas, Wyo., and Son Michael and Carin Finnicum of Colorado Spring, Colo. He is survived by his grandchildren: David, Danielle, Jacob, Caitlin, Joseph, Calina, Bradley, Bryan, Sara, Boyd, Jr. Michelle, Curtis John, Christa, Taylor, Tanner, Troy, and Caylene, and step-daughter Chere. Curt was great-grampa to Jesika (Bebe) Brianna, Tyler and Taylor Nicole. His two sisters, Alfay McCraken and Mary Horne survive him as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all.
Curt was preceded in death my his parents, his sisters Bonnie and Edith and brothers, Bernie, Jack, Boyd, Bernie, Jr. and Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Cloyd's Funeral Home. Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mollie Hessler
Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend went to be with our Lord on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Western Manor at the age of 96.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1903 in Russia to Henry and Katie Keeler Henkel
On March 27, 1921, she married John Hessler in Scottsbluff, Neb., out of this union nine children were born. They came to Montana in 1938.
Mom loved to fish, crochet, cook and play cards.
She is survived by her children, Irene (August) Scheafer, Albert (Florence) Hessler, Edna (Ray) Lachenmaier, Florine (Fred) Hankel, all of Billings and Norma (Tom) Reding of Minn., a sister Katie Brockel of Wyo., several half and step siblings, 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1983, three infant children, a daughter Jan Griffith in 1996, grandson Randy Bohl, and five brothers.
We love you, Mom, and will miss you but you will be in our hearts always.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Pilgrim Congregational Church with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church or the charity of one's choice.

Ida (Dolly) McCormick
JOPLIN - Ida (Dolly) Marie McCormick, age 73 of Joplin, passed away due to heart failure at her home on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the Bethel Lutheran Church at Joplin, with burial to follow at 3 p.m. at the Highland cemetery in Havre. Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 17, 1926, on the family homestead south of Gilford, to Peder and Anna (Pederson) Mork. Attended schools in the area and graduated from Gilford High School. Married William McCormick Dec. 9, 1946 at Havre. He passed away in Jan. of 1981.
The couple made their home in Joplin where Dolly was a faithful housewife for many years. She also was a cook at the public school from 1966 until her retirement in 1989. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and kept in close contact with her relatives, and had once traveled to Norway for a visit.
Being an excellent cook she enjoyed fixing lefsa, baking cookies, and other wonderful meals for her family.
She was member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where she very active in quilting. She had been active with the community fund drive for many years. Her home was always open to the many friends of her children who would frequently stop by. Along with enjoying reading, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles Dolly dearly loved playing board games with her grandchildren. Her family were her pride and joy.
Survivors include daughter, Jan and husband Dave Mlinar of San Diego, Calf., Sons, Russ and wife Bonnie McCormick of Stevensville, and Bill and wife Vickie McCormick of Billings. Sister, Bertha Anderson of Libby. Nephew Bill Halverson. ten grandchildren: Shannon and husband Jim Vaughn of Havre, Marc McCormick of Dillon, Michelle Olson of Havre, Lucas McCormick of Stevensville, Kari Tempel of Joplin, Jessica of Mlinar San Diego, Matthew Temple of Joplin, Shawn McCormick of Billings, Amanda Mlinar of San Diego and Johanna McCormick of Billings.
preceded in death by children Mavis Olson and Denise and husband Jerry Tempel, three brothers and three sisters.

Lawrence 'Swede' Erickson
Lawrence "Swede" Erickson, 88, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born June 2, 1911, in Finley, N.D., the son of Hilma and Otto Erickson. When Lawrence was a young child the family moved to Broadview. He graduated valedictorian in 1928 from Broadview High School. The following year he graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill.
Lawrence served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He married Ruth Joyce on Nov. 25, 1937, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Billings. They lived in Billings until moving to the family farm near Broadview in 1962, where they had resided ever since.
Lawrence's life revolved around working his farm and raising his six boys. He was proud of the family values and work ethics he bestowed in his sons. His interests included fishing, hunting, and golfing with his boys. He most enjoyed attending basketball games. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long standing member of Holy Rosary Parish, Billings and St. Theresa's Parish in Broadview. Lawrence was chairman of the Broadview cemetery Board for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruth.
Survivors include six sons and their wives, Larry and Susan, Greg and Marie, and Dennis and Debra, all of Billings, Dean and Kay of Bonney Lake, Wash., and Tony and Gail and Bart and Lynne of Broadview; a brother, Lyle of Billings; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Rosary services will be at 7 p.m., Monday at Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Rosary Parish with Rite of Committal in the Broadview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Billings Area Education Trust (BACET), P.O. Box 31158, Billings, MT 59107, the Broadview Community Center, or the charity of one's choice.

James M. Young
James M. Young, 78 of Billings, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Western Manor after a long illness. He was born April 3, 1921, in Seattle, Wash., the son of Frank Perry and Luvisa Alice Shanks Young. He moved to Wyoming with his parents at an early age and graduated from the Powell High School.
Jim enlisted in the Army Air Corps, 5th Air Base and as stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City and served in the Philippines during which time he was captured by the Japanese soldiers and held in a prisoner of war camp for over three ad a half years during WWII. After his discharge when the war was over, he came to Montana and became employed as a surveyor for Northwestern Improvement Co. at Colstrip, Mont.
He married Jean C. Sloan on Aug. 8, 1946, in Billings and lived in Colstrip where they had two daughters, Cheryl and Cathy Young. Jim was a devoted husband and father. In 1959, they moved to Billings where Jim worked for the highway department as a designer detailer of secondary highways until his retirement in 1984. Jim loved to do garden and lawn work and enjoyed his many activities in the many veterans organizations. He was awarded the Bronze Star September of 1987, during a POW/MIA recognition day in Miles City, Mont.
He was a past Master of the Forsyth Masonic Lodge., a past Commander of the Forsyth York Rite, a member of the York Rite, a past member of the Bedoins Unit of Al Bedoo Shrine, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the American Legion, VFW, American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, American Ex-POW Prisoners, an honorary member of the USAF Air Defense Team, and the Order of Kentucky Colonels, Inc.
Survivors include his daughters, a brother-in-law, niece, nephews and his many friends.
A veterans funeral service with Masonic Rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan.10, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th St. W. and St. Johns Ave. Interment with military honors will follow at Terrace Gardens cemetery. A reception hosted by the DAV Auxiliary will be held at the American Legion Club Post No. 4 on Broadwater Avenue. Memorials may be made to Disabled Americans Veterans (DAV), or Shriner's Children Hospital.

Viola 'Vi' Boehm
GLASGOW - Viola "Vi" Boehm, 83, died Jan. 6, 2000, at Valley View Home in Glasgow of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, in the Chapel at Bell Mortuary. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Ross O. Brillhart
MUSSELSHELL - Ross 0. Brillhart, 90, of Musselshell died on Jan. 6, 2000, at the Roundup Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
He was born Aug. 16, 1909, to Ora and Mary Rehm Brillhart in Orrville, Ohio, and graduated from Orrville High School in 1927.
He owned a truck as a young man and hauled tires for Roadway Freight Co., mainly in Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.
He married Irene F. Clapper on March 4, 1937, in Marshallville, Ohio, at St. Michael's Reform Church parsonage. They operated a dairy farm at Orrville until moving to Montana in March of 1946 with their six children. They bought a ranch at Three Mile in the Bitterroot Valley. A year later they moved to a ranch at Lolo, where they lived until 1968 raising Hereford cattle.
In 1968, Ross and his two sons moved to their current ranch at Musselshell. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Roundup. Preceding him in death were his daughter, Rita Brillhart, in 1992; three sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Charles and Wayne and daughter-in-law Shirlee, all at the family ranch; daughters and sons-in-law, Luella and John Lokemoen of Jamestown, N.D., Maxine and Carrie Vink of Polson, and Thelma and Jerrome Cole of Musselshell; grandchildren Matthew Lokemoen of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Anne Gebhardt of Aurora, Colo., Daniel Lokemoen of Seattle, Winston Brillhart of Luxembourg, Bentley Brillhart at the family ranch, Ross Johnson of Missoula, Rock Johnson of Pullman, Wash., Randall Johnson of Hall; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter and sister-in-law, Ellen of Orrville, Ohio; sister, Gail Weygandt Canal of Fulton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, American cancer Society or the charity of choice.
Tribute to Ross: A dedicated cattleman, especially to the Hereford breed, a true and honest friend, a loving father.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 10, from 5-9 p.m. at the Wier Funeral Chapel in Roundup. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at the Roundup City cemetery.
