Gary F. Kibble
ROUNDUP - Gary F. Kibble, 68, of Roundup, passed away on Dec. 30, 1999, at his home of natural causes.
Gary was born Nov. 18, 1931, on his aunt's farm in Ohio Station, Ill. He lived his early years on another "grandma's" farm out of Princeton, Ill., and in Princeton also. In 1946 he moved to Roundup, Mont., with his mother and sister to start a new life with his stepfather Earl W. Kibble. Gary was very active in sports and drama in high school. In 1949 after graduation, he started to Eastern Montana College where he was on the football team. In November of 1949 he joined the Marines. He served in the Korean conflict until 1953. He was a sergeant in the Marines. He played in the Marine Corps band and was also an MP for a short time. Gary moved to Seattle, Wash., in 1954 and started school at the University of Washington. He was studying to be an engineer so he could build bridges. He was unable to complete his education due to financial difficulties and took a job as a bartender in the University District. He eventually got work on the "docks" in Seattle, and became one of the bosses in the office where they loaded and unloaded ships from around the world. He worked there until his retirement in 1991 due to emphysema from smoking. He moved back to Montana at that time to live in his mother's home.
Gary loved his family and especially his nieces and nephews and their children. He had been an avid fisherman and hunter and had a special rapport with horses and other animals. After moving back to Montana, he got a "pug" dog who was his constant companion. Gary called him "Bud" and so he became to all who knew Gary. Gary enjoyed painting, and had also self-educated himself by reading every book he could find, putting everything to practical use. He had done so many interesting and exciting things and enjoyed relating some of his "tall tales" from horse racing to music, to movies, to his life on the farm.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his step-father and his niece Rebecca Bray. He is survived by his sister Nancy (Wright "Red") Anderson, his nephew Daniel Brewer, his nieces Linda Graham and Dana Chase, his great-nephews Matthew Molloy, Kellen Brewer, Justice Graham, his great-nieces Shalmai Molloy, Holly Cather, Rachael Despain, Danielle Brewer, Liberty Graham and Abbey Brewer. He is also survived by six great-great nephews and nieces.
Gary was respected and loved by all his family and friends and will be missed by us all. He has at last found peace and joy through His Savior Jesus Christ.
He was my brother and my confidante and friend, and he made me laugh and have hope in my heart for a better life here and in God's heaven.
Memorials may be given to charity of choice.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Wier Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church.
