Linda Mae Grotbo Robison
After a valiant battle with emphysema, Linda left us on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, to go to a much better place.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1941, the third child of Art and Blanche Grotbo. She lived her entire life in Billings and was very proud to be the granddaughter of Norwegian immigrants. She went to Garfield from the first through the ninth grade and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1959.
On Jan. 3, 1960, she married Dwayne Robison. They just celebrated 40 years of marriage. They have four children: Stanley Robison (Staci) of Billings, Susan Pitts (Dennis) of Roberts, Steve Robison of Billings, and Stacie Schillreff (Denton) of Billings. They have five grandchildren: Amanda Pitts, Josh Pitts, Rodnie Schillreff, Miranda Schillreff and Christian Robison.
In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Linda is survived by two brothers and a sister: John Grotbo (Jeannette) of Billings, Stanley Grotbo (Kathy) of Columbus, and Connie Ahlgren (JR) of Billings, and too many relatives and friends to mention,
Linda was a self-taught antique expert, specializing in antique glass and dolls. For many years. she had a booth at the antique shows at the Metra. She was well-known at the garage sales around Billings
Linda will be remembered for her many talents, which usually brought her blue ribbons and rosettes frown the Montana State Fair. Among these were her roses, crochet, photography, candy and bread entries. She was a very good fisherman and had a great appreciation for the outdoors. She has requested that her ashes be spread on the Stillwater River.
Linda had a sense of humor that attracted people to her, young and old, and her house was always a gathering place. Throughout this struggle, she has maintained contact with the Lord, and that, plus her sense of humor and her support from Dwayne, gave her the strength to endure this battle.
This write-up does not do justice to this unique and colorful personality. We do know that she will so sorely missed, and we will all meet again.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at Smith's West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
