Roy Stephens
Roy Stephens, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, after a long fight with cancer.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1929, to Jesse and Carrie Stephens. His family farmed in North Carolina where they shared their prosperity with those who were not as fortunate. Roy longed to travel, and after high school he joined the military and traveled extensively.
It was a source of life-long pride that he served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and was a part of the historic Normandy invasion.
After his military service, he discovered he had a special gift and affinity for mechanics. He chose automobile mechanics as his profession and his hobby. His considerable skill earned him a certificate as "Master of Mechanics." He ran an automotive repair shop and invented machines to appropriately assist him in his one-man shop. He was meticulous in his work and charged much less for his services than their worth because he knew his work was vitally needed and the going rate in his profession was more than many could afford. He always had a pot of coffee on and an open ear for whom ever came by in need.
One of Roy's greatest pleasures was to serve as Eucharistic Minister and Lector at "Our Lady of Guadalupe" Church. He was a member of the Cursillo Movement and several civic committees. He was known as a special man with a great gift for prayer and devotion and trust in our Lord.
Roy loved to spend his leisure time with the love of his life, his wife, and took great pride in his daughter, Claudia.
Roy married Maria Escobar, April 6, 1962. His wife, Maria and daughter, Claudia Stephens survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Carrie (Cook) Stephens.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass to be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Thursday, 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross cemetery.

Cody Anderson Dowler
A little boy died Sunday. His name is Cody Anderson Dowler and he graced us with his presence for 5 1/2 years.
Cody was born in Albuquerque, N. M. with his best friend, his twin brother Tyler. They moved to Laramie, Wyo. and from there to Billings last summer.
What can be said about this young innocent, and loving child? He was a joy to behold with his passionate "full-stream ahead" way of learning about his world. The rims, the river, the YMCA, the Big Toy all heard his laughter and felt his touch.
Cody left a lot of people behind who loved him dearly. His parents, Justin Dowler and Korin and Joe Schmidt; his brother Tyler, his great-grandparents, Ina Anderson, Rose Hamilton, Kay Dowler, and Larry and Verna Walker; his grandparents, Barb Byars, Joe and Glenda Dowler, Emily Schmidt, Pat Schmidt, Dale Anderson and Kaye-baby; his aunts, Nonna, Gretchen, Heidi, Kori, Tammy and Joleen; his uncle's Craig and Jake, and cousins C.J. and Kaylyn. We loved him and in return received his love back.
We shall hold him in our hearts. When the family sits together we shall say, "To us! To those of us who are here and to those of us who aren't, but should be. To us!"
Donna, take this boy and guide him on his journey. Cody-man, you are our child forever and always. Good-bye and Godspeed.
Memorials in Cody Dowler's name can be given to the YMCA in Billings, 402 North 32nd Street, Billings, MT 59101. He enjoyed that place so much.
