Lorraine E. Davey
Lorraine E. Davey, 64 of Billings, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2000, after a short bout with cancer. She was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Billings, the daughter of Jacob and Marie (Frickle) Heimbichner.
Lorraine graduated from Billings Senior High School and Billings Business College. She met Bob Davey and they were married Nov. 18, 1955. They lived in Billings, where they raised their three children.
Lorraine will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the many hugs she loved to give and receive. She was an active member of American Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening, and keeping her German heritage alive in sharing traditional German foods. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, Jake and Marie, her brother, Jim, and her sister, Eleanor.
Survivors include her daughter, Lou Ann Ball (Chuck); her sons, Scott (Yvonne) and Keith (Summer); her two sisters, Pat Dunbar and Dorothy Rupp (Lyle) of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Jim Brese; a sister-in-law, Marian Heimbichner; eight grandchildren, Sara, Sierra Dawn, Andrew, Eric, Caitlin, Morgan, Ian, and Lauren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, 1001 Alderson Ave. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Mountview cemetery, Section 11. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, at American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave. Memorials may be directed to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107-5033, or the American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave., Billings, MT 59101.

Archie Lee Richards
BROADUS - Archie Lee Richards, 81, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Valley View cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Broadus is in charge.

Doris Gall
JORDAN - Doris Gall, 86, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, in the first Baptist Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Hayman Collins
Mary Hayman Collins, 66, of Billings, passed away peacefully at her home following a long struggle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Big Elk, Mont., the daughter of Thomas and Emily (Doble) Hayman. She was raised in Big Elk and attended Big Elk Schools.
On May 25, 1935, she married Stanley Collins in Harlowton.
They owned and operated a ranch half-way between Two Dot and Big Elk. In October 1950, they moved to a farm on Pryor Creek, south of Huntley, that they had purchased. They farmed there until 1976 when they moved to Billings.
Mary was a hard worker and could work as good as most men on the farm. In addition, she raised mink for many years. She enjoyed doing odd jobs such as painting homes in Huntley and helping others do their work.
Mary received the title of "Grand Dutchess" for being the oldest bowler at the State Championship. She bowled 25 years in league and State Bowling Championships.
Mary played in the Pinochle Club, and did volunteer work for Easter Seals.
She loved to crochet, embroidery, and share her beautiful doilies and pillow cases with all her family. She also loved to garden, do yard work and especially enjoyed fishing.
Mary was a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress.
Mary remained very close to her only sister, Gladys Hazelton of Roundup. They talked often on the phone and they wrote to each other weekly.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley of Billings; her daughters, Frances Coquillette of Turlock, Calif., Anne Moore of Ballantine and Gladys Homer of Burbank, Wash.; her sister, Gladys Hazelton of Roundup, 23 grandchildren, 61 great- grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Maine Collins, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will be at the Huntley cemetery.

Carrie L. Elder
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Carrie L. (Wilmoth) Elder, 100, died Wednesday, March 20, 2000, at Sheridan Manor.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Champion Funeral Home was in charge.

Donavon 'Don' LaValley
Donavon 'Don" LaValley, 64, of Billings passed away Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Deaconess Hospital of a heart attack. Donavon was born at Fort Belknap Agency on Sept. 23, 1935.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Priscilla (Rodney) of California. Two sons, Bobby (Danelle) of Great Falls, and Shane (Rolanda) of Missoula; 10 grandchildren, one sister, Fern of Spokane; and several very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger, mother, Cleo and stepfather, Mitch; his brother, Virgil; and sister, Jo Ann.
Donavon was a heavy equipment crane operator early in his life and most recently retired as a bus driver for a local day care center. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 1-5 p.m. Thursday March 30, at the VFW, 637 Anchor. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association- Montana Affiliate, 2525 6th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101. Cremation will be held at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Dorothy E. Roan
HARLOWTOWN - Dorothy E. Roan, 89, of Harlotown, formerly of Hardin, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2000, in the Wheatland Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1910 in Inkster, N.D., a daughter of Lyndon and Dorothea Elizabeth Calder Gemmill. She moved with her family to Laurel at the age of five and received her school in Laurel.
Dorothy married Ray Roan in Hardin, on July l, 1929, and the couple made their home on the Roan Homestead on Tullock Creek. The first two years of their marriage, they spent in a sheep wagon herding sheep. Dorothy helped her husband by cooking for threshing crews as the Beans had the first threshing machine in the Tullock area. She also cooked for the workers at the Tullock sawmill that her husband operated.
In 1951, they left the family farm and lived the next eight years on an island in the Yellowstone River. In 1960, they built and managed the Prairie Diner outside Custer. In 1963, they moved to Hardin, where Dorothy cooked at several cafes and later served as the dietary supervisor for the Heritage Acres Retirement Home. Mr. Roan passed away in 1974. Dorothy lived in Hardin, until entering the Wheatland Memorial Nursing Home in Oct. of 1992.
She loved her family, riding horses, writing poem and short stories, growing plants, helping people less fortunate and raising foster children. Her children will always remember her for the times she read to them during storms and when they made ice cream in the summer time.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a brother, Lyndon (Bud) Gemmill and a sister, Betty Jensen.
Survivors include five sons, Lyndon (Anna May) of Shawmut, Jack (Margo) of Custer, Jim (Betty Ann) of Billings, Dick (Judy) and Tom of Hardin; two daughters, Lenore (Don) Rogers of Custer and Diane (Ken) Kuntz of Hardin; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2000, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Custer cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Frank Iron, Sr.
DUNMORE - Frank Iron, Sr., 84, of Dunmore, passed away Sunday, March 26, in the Sheridan, Wyo. Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1915 in St. Xavier, a son of Edward and Angela Brass Iron. His parents died when he was very young and was subsequently raised by his Aunt Maggie Brass. He grew up and attended schools in the St. Xavier and graduated from Phoenix Indian High school in Ariz. Following his education, he worked on area ranches.
Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army in Sept. of 1940, served with the All Indian Infantry Battalion, Company F in the South Pacific during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart. He received his Honorable discharge in 1945.
He returned to the Crow Reservation to work for various farms and ranches, before beginning a career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as a custodian, retiring in 1992 at the age of 77, after 28 years of faithful service.
Frank married Winona Faye Walking Bear on April 6, 1946 and the couple made their home in the Lodge Grass area, before moving to Dunmore in 1972. She died in 1982. He married Nadine Old Bull in July of 1996 and she passed away in Nov. of 1999.
He was a spiritual person, who loved nature. He enjoyed being out doors where he could camp, fish, hunt and garden. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, encouraging them to faithfully attend church and listen to gospel music. His cheerful disposition and sense of humor were an important part of his life.
Frank was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Ties the Bundle Clan, a child of the Big Lodge Clan and an active participant of the Crow Indian Veterans color guard for military events.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Gail Wilburn and Miriam Iron; an infant son; two brothers, Wallace and Theodore Iron and three sisters, Iris Three Irons, Stella Whiteman and Alice Goodluck.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Iron of Crow Agency, Virjama (Gerry) Plain Bull of Pryor and Suzanne Iron of Hardin; two sons, Michael and Frank Iron, Jr. of Crow Agency; two sisters, Ruby Goes Ahead of Pryor and Iola Iron of Crow Agency; three stepchildren, Leland Walking Bear of Fort Smith, Larry and Lenora Pretty Weasel of Crow Agency; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two adopted brothers, Albert Bull Horse and Ian Leider of Crow Agency.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Custer Battlefield National cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jordie Lee Acker Jr.
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Jordie Lee Acker Jr., 43, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Peters Episcopal Church with burial in the Elks cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.

Ann Scott
Ann Scott, 68, of Billings, passed away on Monday, March 27, of complications after her long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ann was born June 12, 1931, in Billings, the daughter of Conrad and Gertrude Strending. She grew up in the Shepherd area with seven brothers and sisters. On Sept. 17, 1949, she married Jimmie Scott in Billings. They worked together at Artcraft Printers, formerly Reporter Printing, until Jimmie's retirement in 1990 after 44 years and Ann's retirement in 1996 after 49 years.
Her greatest joy was being involved in her grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. She also felt great comfort in regularly attending church surrounded by her brothers and sisters in faith. She looked forward to her daily cappuccino and a hobby she loved was doll collecting. Her friends and family loved to add to the collection that meant so much to her.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie (Bill) Bunch, DiAnne (Steve) Chatwood, Julie (Dave) Roe and one son, Richard "Rick" Scott, all of Billings; grandchildren, Brandi (Matt) Dombrovski, Tyson (Andrea) Bunch, Adam and Breanna Roe, all of Billings, and Dallas Scott of Beach, N.D.; great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Bunch of Billings; two brothers, Edward (Marianne) Strending of Tigard, Ore., and Albert (Edith) Strending of Great Falls; three sisters, Wynn (Arnold) Cronshagen of Covina, Calif., Louise Dobson of Federal Way, Wash., and Alice (Bill) Peterson of Woodland, Wash. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her two sisters.
A memorial service will be held by Rev. David Munson on Saturday, April 1, at 5 p.m. at New Apostolic Church, 500 15th St. W. Memorials may be made to the New Apostolic Church, c/o Ken Szillat 560 Indian Trail, 59105 or the American Cancer Society.

Veronica Mary King
MISSOULA - On Oct. 25, 1923, a lovely Irish lass was born into the family of Joseph and Mary Dowling of Rosalia, Wash. During the morning of March 27, 2000, Veronica passed away at Community Medical Center in Missoula.
Veronica was raised on the family farm and after high school ventured forth to Rapid City, S.D., to work at the U.S. Air Force base. It was here that she met John E. King. They were married in Rapid City on June 1, 1944.
John and Ronnie settled in Missoula with their four children during the summer of 1963. While balancing kids' activities, Ronnie worked full time at the Northern Pacific Hospital and later at the University of Montana Health Service, where she worked until retiring.
Ronnie kept active after retirement with various bowling leagues, volunteering as a "Grandma" at a local grade school, volunteering as a receptionist at the smoke jumper base and working at various supermarkets demonstrating weekly specials and making new friends by the minute.
preceded in death by John in December 1990, Ronnie is survived by her daughter, Carol and husband Rick of Newport, Wash.; son Terry and wife Sharon of Florence, Mont.; son Tom and wife Moireen of Billings; daughter Colleen, grandchildren. Amy, Jason, Joe, Mary, Christie and MacKenzie; special friend Herb Barker and many other friends.
Vigil services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Livingston Chapel, 224 W. Spruce. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Christ The King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial cemetery.

Sister Mary Madeleva Ditmars
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Sister Mary Madeleva Ditmars, 75, formerly of Montana, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with burial in Mount Olivet cemetery. Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Chapels is in charge.

Frederich V. Hodges
LOVELL, Wyo. - Frederich Valentine Hodges, 74, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Lovell.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Lovell LDS Stake Center with burial in the Lovell cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge.

Grace Cox
BAKER - Grace Cox, 71, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at her home following a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Community Church in Baker with burial at a later date in Arizona. Stevenson's Funeral Home in Baker is in charge.
