Robert J. Dunsworth
Robert J. Dunsworth, 78, of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 27, 2000, at his home. The son of Clifford and Suzanne (McCourt) Dunsworth, he was born in Galesburg, Ill., Oct. 18, 1921.
Bob was raised and educated in Galesburg. Following high school graduation, he attended Knox College in Galesburg for three years before entering the U.S. Coast Guard, serving until 1946. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Knox College and graduated in 1947 with a degree in history and business, After graduation, he moved to Peoria, Ill., to begin working for Block and Kuhl Department Store. Here he met his wife, Georgia Ann Dergins, and they were united in marriage on May 15, 1951. In 1955, Bob accepted a manager/buyer position with Carson Pirie Scott in Chicago. The family moved to Billings in 1962, where Bob worked as president, manager and buyer of the Hart Albin's Store for Men. He retired in April of 1986.
Bob was a devout Chicago Cubs fan and an avid history buff. He also had enjoyed handball and jogging. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, a past member of the board of directors for the YMCA, a member of the Billings Downtown Rotary Club, serving as club president from 1976-1977 and receiving the Paul Harris Award in 1991. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife Georgia of Billings; his two daughters, Suzanne Radcliffe of Tucson, Ariz., and Gail Meidinger and her husband Al of Fargo, N.D.; two grandchildren, Adam Radcliffe of Tucson, Ariz., and Jessi Meidinger of Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
To honor the family's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Preston James Bliss
HUNTLEY - Preston James Bliss, born March 12, 2000, to loving parents Justin J. Bliss and Heather Eaton Bliss. Our precious little buddy, Preston, left us on March 26, 2000, on the wings of an angel to the waiting arms of our Heavenly Father. "We were blessed to have had you in our lives even if it was for such a very short time. We will surely miss you.
Preston is survived by his parents Justin and Heather Bliss of Huntley; his Grandpa, Jim Bliss of Huntley; Grandma Sandy Bliss of Mesa, Ariz.; Grandma Lori Gladden of Salt Lake City, Utah; Grandpa Darrell Eaton Sr. of Salt Lake City, Utah, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Aunt Louie, great-great-grandparents and Great-grandma Piligrino preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 31, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings with interment in the Huntley cemetery in Huntley.

Florence E. Garrison
SACO - Florence E. Garrison, 92, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at the Valley View Home in Glasgow of natural causes.
A gathering of friends will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Hi-Line Crematory. Adams Funeral Home in Malta is in charge.

Marc Ryan Hanson
BIG TIMBER - Marc Ryan Hanson, 14, of Big Timber, passed away March 26, 2000.
Marc, son of Gary and Debbie Hanson, was born in Big Timber on Feb. 9, 1986. Marc was involved and enjoyed many things. He participated in Little Herder football and played on his school's basketball team. Along with his own sports involvement, he was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. Marc also enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. Playing the drums, riding 4-wheelers, watching wrestling and becoming a whiz on the computer were a few of his many hobbies.
Marc was also very proud of medals he received bowling in the Special Olympics. Perfect attendance his sixth, seventh and through his eight grade years was a proud accomplishment for Marc in his schooling.
Marc was preceded in death by his Grandpa Hanson.
Survivors include his mom and dad Gary and Debbie Hanson, brother Jay Hanson and fiance Belinda McCauley, sister Jamie Nevin and husband Todd, Grandma Hazel Hanson, Granddad and Grandma Harold and Mary Faw, Uncle and Aunts Harold and Norma Hanson and John and Wanda Faw. Cousins include Brent Hanson and his wife Julean, Tary Hanson and his wife Jill, Amy Delgatty and her husband Jason, Jonathan and Memory Faw.
We all miss and love you. Thank you for the 14 years we had together, we will carry you in our hearts forever.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Big Timber Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Holmlund officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery. Lowry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Truman G. Gullard
Truman G. Gullard, 90, of Billings, passed away Saturday of congestive heart failure. He was born April 13, 1909, in Osseo, Wis., a son of Henry C. and Anna Melby Gullard. At the age of 2, he moved with his parents to the vicinity northeast of Acton where his parents homesteaded. Truman attended grade school in Molt and Lincoln School northeast of Acton and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1929.
The family moved to a farm east of Red Lodge in 1929. Truman, his brother Mandel and his Uncle Carl purchased a farm and farmed a short period of time. He then worked for his Uncle Harry Gullard bringing new cars from Detroit and Chicago to Billings where his uncle had a car dealership. Later, he went into the house construction business with his father.
On Feb. 17, 1941, he was called through Selective Service to join the 1088 Engineers Division of the Army. The first year was spent at Fort Lewis, Wash., and when World War II was declared, he was sent to Epahate Island in the south Pacific. He was there for the duration of the war and was discharged June 5, 1945. He returned to Billings and the building construction business. In 1960, he went into the restaurant business, at one time owning Squire Fine Foods, retiring in 1974. He later managed the night shift at the Kit Kat Cafe until 1998 when he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, June A. Gullard; brothers, Mandel, James and Sherman.
Survivors include a brother, William and his wife, Beatrice; a sister, Arlene and her husband, Robert Wicks, all of Billings; sisters-in-law, Emma Gullard of Kirkland, Wash., and Helen Gullard of Leavenworth, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two very dear friends, Carl and Betty Miller.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Cremation or Funeral Gallery 8th and St. Johns Ave. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of choice.

Wayne Martin
BAINVILLE - Wayne Martin, 82, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in the Roosevelt Memorial Hospital in Culbertson.
The Everson-Clayton Memorial Chapel in Culbertson is in charge.

Clementine McConahay
LOVELL, Wyo. - Clementine Anna McConahay, 95, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Lovell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Haskell Funeral Home with burial in the Lovell cemetery.

Henry E. Fellin, Jr.
LOS ANGELES - Henry E. "Hank" Fellin, Jr. died Jan. 19, 2000, at his home in Los Angeles. Hank was on the music faculty of Rocky Mountain College and was organist at First Congregational United Church of Christ from 1965 to 1968.
Hank moved to Los Angeles in 1968 and taught choral music in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He also directed the Valley College Opera workshop and served as director of music at several churches.
In the 1980s, Hank shifted his energies to the computer field and became an expert in administering technical systems and training end users in the legal environment.
He is survived by two sisters and several nephews and nieces.

David Conrad Mueller
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - David Conrad Mueller, 81 of Sheridan, passed away Friday, March 24, 2000, at the VA Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Keys officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow services at Sheridan Municipal cemetery with Military Honors performed by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard from Warren AFB, Cheyenne, Wyo. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Horns, in care of Dellphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, Wyo. 82801

Jacques D. "J.D." Hodges
PLENTYWOOD - Funeral services for Jacques D. "J.D." Hodges will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29. Rev. Tim Hutslar and Pastor David C. Curtright will officiate at the service at the Plentywood Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Plentywood Memorial cemetery. Jacques, 59, passed away at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood Saturday afternoon, March 25. He was stricken by an apparent sudden cardiac arrest while driving in Medicine Lake.
Jacques was born in Scobey, July 7, 1940, one of three children of Robert and Helen (Jacques) Hodges. While he was growing up, his father followed work at grain elevators. The family lived in Bremerton, Wash., and in Rawson and Charbonneau, N.D. Jacques attended high school in Alexander, N.D., and in Plentywood. In 1961, he married Nancy Lee, of Reserve, Mont. Jacques "J.D." worked in the oilfields, starting as a roughneck, and later becoming a driller, for Nobel Drilling. Jacques and Nancy lived in Montana, Oklahoma, and North Dakota before settling in Plentywood. Nancy died Nov. 18, 1983. Since 1987, J.D. worked as a Field Inspector for the Montana State Oil and Gas Commission of the Department of Natural Resources. Jacques was an avid history buff, interested in the Old West and Indian culture. He and his friend Dave Ruffato, looked for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts. His love of history was passed on to his son and daughter, Michael and Michelle, and his granddaughters, Cami and Carlie. He married Janice (Jeannotte) Karst, of Medicine Lake on Oct. 29, 1999, at Fort Peck, Mont. Much to Janice's dismay, he would control the TV remote, watching the History Channel's documentaries of his favorite subjects such as the Civil War, Chief Joseph, Sitting Bull, the James Brothers, and other favorites. He also enjoyed working on restoring antiques and welding, making many beautiful things such as "headache racks" for friends' pickups, shelves for Janice, an ornamental gate for the Old Tractor Club grounds in Plentywood, and a baker's rack for his daughter. Before Christmas this year, J.D. and his friends Dave Patterson and Ron Booth made Christmas Stars for Street and Yard decorations ... they referred to their little business as "Stars-R-Us!" Jacques belonged to the Elks Lodge in Plentywood. He and Janice were active in the grandchildren's events, school programs, and basketball and baseball games.
Jacques is survived by his wife, Janice, of Medicine Lake; and her children, Rod, Kristi, Koni, and Randy and their families; by his children, Michelle and her husband Derl of Plentywood; a son, Michael, of Billings, and two step-daughters: Terry and her husband Butch Kallem, of Rapid City, S. D., and Debbie Strand, of Miles City. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Michele and Den's three daughters, Chandra, Camaree, and Carlie; Terry & Butch's children, Rocky Kallem, and Roxanne Cline and her husband Darren; and Jacques' great-grandchildren Zachary and Makayla, all of Bozeman; by a sister, Judy Shafer, of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Brent Hodges, and his wife Sharon, of Fort Riley, Kan., and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, Wally Hodges and Bruce Shafer; by a brother-in-law Gerald Shafer, and his first wife, Nancy.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

Marc Ryan Hanson
BIG TIMBER - Marc Ryan Hanson, 14, died at his home of injuries received in an All-Terrain Vehicle accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Big Timber Lutheran Church. Lowry Funeral Home is in charge.

Edward Kraft Sr.
Edward Kraft Sr. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2000, five days from his 87th birthday. He passed away peacefully at the family home surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Odessa, Russia, on April 1, 1913, the son of Jacob and Anna Marie Kraft. As an infant, Ed came to the United States with his parents and older brother, settled in North Dakota, and moved to Montana in 1925.
Ed married Frieda Martin on April 30, 1941, in Roundup, Mont. He started farming in Belfry, Mont., and in 1942 moved west of Billings where he continued as a farmer, rancher and dairyman until retirement in 1973. During his retirement years, Ed enjoyed gardening, woodworking, traveling and assisting his family when needed on their nearby farms. He loved livestock, especially horses and cattle, and was often seen at the local auction yards. He was a lifelong member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Billings.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda, of 58 years; four sons, Edward Jr. (Roxie), Richard (Sylvia) and James (Valorie) of Billings, Robert (Kayrene) of Laurel; one daughter, Peggy (Ervin) Wood of Laurel; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Emmanuel, Albert and Bruce; one sister, Peggy Kraft, all of Billings, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Henry, John, Herman, Bill, Jake and John, and six sisters, Pauline Kraft, Frieda Anderson, Katherine Hergenrider, Anna Jensen. Cecelia Anderson, Alice Rasmusson, and one son-in-law, Clyde Shay.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to the Pilgrim Congregational Church or Big Sky Hospice.

Oscar Mauland
LEWISTOWN - Oscar Mauland, 93, passed away Monday morning, March 27, 2000, at Valle Vista Manor.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Zion Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at the Lewistown City cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of Fergus American Legion Post No. 16. Memorials may be given to the charity of donor's choice. Creel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

R. Dwain Johnson
SIDNEY - Dwain Johnson, 64 of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2000, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, N.D. of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Ackerman officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the V.F.W. Post No. 4099 of Sidney will be in the Sidney cemetery under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.

Francis Elliot Poodry
GREAT FALLS - Francis Elliot Poodry 77, died March 24, 2000, after losing a battle with brain cancer. Cremation has taken place and private family services were held. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Montana. Chapel of Chimes handled arrangements.
Francis was born on Oct. 21, 1922, at the Tonawanda Seneca Reservation in New York. In 1950, he and Gladys Marie Hafer were married in Escondido, Calif. He enjoyed woodcarving and viewing wildlife.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1940 to 1970. During this time, he served in Guadalcanal, New Britain, Pelieu; Korea, in Inchon, Chosin Resevoir; and Vietnam. He received five presidential citations, two Navy Unit citations, and nine Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals. Following his retirement from the Marines, he worked for seven years for the Montana State Job Service in Great Falls.
Francis is survived by his wife, Gladys of Great Falls; daughter, Michel Poodry-Favero (Craig) of Billings; son, Col. Mitchel Poodry (Louise) of Ft. Benning, Ga.; sister, Marie Martin of Tonawanda, N.Y.; brother, Brad Poodry, of Tonawanda; and two grandchildren, Kristine Favero and Karie Favero. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Amparita Marie Simons
SHELBY - Amparita Marie Simons, age 81, co-owner of Simons petroleum and homemaker, passed away Sunday at the Marias Medical Center due to heart failure.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at St. William Catholic Church with the funeral mass set for Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Harry and Amparita Simons Memorial Scholarship Fund. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Amparita was born Nov. 15, 1918, at Shelby to John and Pilar (Alzuri) Hasquet and graduated from Shelby High School in 1937. She later graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane. It was there that she married Harry Simons on Dec. 12, 1942. They made their home there while Harry served as a navigator in the Navy. He passed away May 29, 1993.
In 1950, they moved to Shelby and joined in the family farming operation. In 1962, Harry and Amparita purchased the Charlie Fellows' Union Oil Bulk Plant, which is presently known as Simons Oil. She was still involved with her son Pat in the business.
Amparita served as a Girl Scout leader for eight years; she was president of the Toole County Republican Women; and served as "first lady" of Shelby while her husband was mayor. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church where she served as organist and choir director, president of the Altar Society and also president of the Conrad Deanery where she helped chair the first convention ever for that organization. She served as chairperson of Women's Affairs at the convention of the Knights of Columbus in Montana. Amparita is a past president of the Shelby Soroptimist International where she received the Woman of Distinction Award in 1996. She also taught piano for over 25 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Hanser of Billings, Jeanie Schemm of Everett, Wash., and Renee Simons of Bonny Lake, Wash.; her sons, Pat of Shelby, Mike of Missoula, Bill of Helena, Tom of Lewistown, and Joe of Sunburst. She is also survived by brothers, Bob and Julius of Shelby and sisters, Irene Joyce and Jerry Biggs, both of California, Margo Hasquet and Mary Jean Wells of Shelby. She has 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband, her brother, Louis and her sister, Olivia, preceded Amparita in death.
