ROBERTS – Edwin Jackola, 86, of Roberts, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Beartooth Long Term Care Center in Red Lodge.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Olcott Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation.

Nettie Jackson
BRADENTON, Fla. – Graveside services for Nettie Jackson, 92, formerly of Miles City, Mont., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Custer County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Mildred I. Kissel
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. – Mildred I. (Hansen) Kissel, 85, formerly of Baker, Mont., died on April 21, 2000, in California.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, in the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Interment will be in the Bonnievale cemetery. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge.

Juaquin Maya
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Juaquin Maya, 27, formerly of Buffalo, died in a boating accident on Dull Knife Reservoir Saturday, June 24, 2000.
Visitation will be from the Adams funeral Home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, from St. John’s Catholic Church in Buffalo. Interment will be in Willow Grove cemetery.

Thomas L. Atkinson
GLENDIVE – Thomas L. Atkinson, 75, formerly of Fallon, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the Eastern Montana Veteran’s Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday June 20, in the Evangelical Church of North America in Fallon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. in the Evangelical Church of North America. Interment will follow Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the family lot of the Riverview cemetery in Circle with military honors.

Helen Marie Berg
Helen Marie Berg died on Monday, June 19, 2000, in Billings, Mont. One of ten children born to Robert Homer Smith and Philomene Perrow Smith, Helen was born on Jan. 24, 1909, in Negaunee, Michigan. At the age of two, Helen moved with her family to Butte, Mont. Helen married Fredrick Douglas Berg on Sept. 15, 1943, in Butte. Fred and Helen moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1944 to fulfill his military assignment. They resided in Casper for a number of years. The highlight of their residence in Casper was the birth of their daughter, Marie. After returning to Butte, Helen worked for many years at the Murray Clinic and retired in 1972. Helen relocated to Billings in 1985 to be near her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred and her five brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Marie and son-in-law, Jim Kelly, grandchildren Lynnette, Lori, Tammy, Lewy, Zack, Chad, and Jaime, great-grandchild Levi, and beloved niece, Eileen Shea.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross cemetery in Butte on Thursday, June 22, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1643 Lewis Avenue, Billings, Montana 59102.

Katherine Boettcher
Katherine Boettcher, 95 of Billings, passed away Friday morning, June 16, 2000, at Deaconess Medical Center. She was born on a farm near Viola, Idaho, on Aug. 15, 1904.
Katherine was raised and educated near Viola and graduated from high school in Palouse, Wash. Following graduation, she attended Washington State College and graduated in 1929 with a degree in Home Economics. On June 30, 1930, she married Walter A. Boettcher in Twin Falls, Idaho. They moved to Billings in 1955 and Walter preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1975. Katherine was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1301 Ave. D. Memorials may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church, 1301 Ave. D., Billings, MT 59102.

Harriett Luella Crawford
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Harriett Luella Crawford, 80, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, Mont.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 29, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Champion Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Champion Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Masonic Circle of the Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Anton D. ‘Tony’ Dinardi
GLENDIVE – Anton D. “Tony” Dinardi, age 86, of Glendive, died on Thursday, June 15, 2000, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.
Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Tony was born on Jan. 17, 1914, in Turin, Italy. the son of Andrew and Mary (Ricci) Dinardi. As a 4-month-old infant, he came to the United States through Canada with his mother. They came to Glendive, where his father was waiting for the family. He was raised and educated in Glendive. On Nov. 5, 1932, Tony was united in marriage to Rose Lupo. Tony had worked over 50 years for the Northern Pacific Railroad, mainly as a section foreman.
Tony enjoyed making agate jewelry, cooking, fishing, gardening and dancing. He was a was a devout Catholic, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and held the office of grand knight. He was also a member of the Glendive Senior Citizen’s Center.
Tony dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Fager and her husband, George of Glendive; one sister, Angie Rowin and her husband, Clint of California; granddaughters, Mary Dietz and her husband, Ron of Aberdeen, S.D., Debbie Tweet and her husband, John of Fort Worth, Texas, Tammy Rupnow and her husband, Tony of Great Falls, Toni Goroski and her husband, Mark of Glendive; great-grandchildren, Mandi Yurkovich and her husband, Jason of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Ron Dietz Jr. of Edgeley, N.D., Heather Dietz of Aberdeen, Scott, Amy, Tiffany and Michael Tweet of Fort Worth, Angela and Jennifer Rupnow of Great Falls, and Eric and Amanda Goroski of Glendive; great-great-grandson, Caden Yurkovich of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose in 1991, his son, Ray, four brothers and four sisters.

Pollyann M. Esten
Pollyann M. Esten, of Billings, passed away peacefully June 17, 2000, at Valley Health Care facility. Pollyann was born to Henry G. and Agnes (Snyder) Melton, in Norfolk, Va. She attended and graduated from Hudson High School. In 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert R. Esten, in Madison, Wis. They made their home in Madison before moving to Billings where Robert worked for Greyhound.
She worked for the Billings Gazette in the Ad Department. Pollyann enjoyed playing golf, traveling and loved to square dance with her husband Robert.
She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Peck, and several nephews and nieces, and very dear friends, the Schaffer family, and Tea and Fritz Coberg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1986.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Dahl Funeral Chapel, Billings, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Montana Rescue Mission, 2822 Minnesota Ave. Billings, MT 59101 or First Presbyterian Church, 2420 13th Street West, Billings, MT 59102.

Theodore ‘Ted’ Hamburg
SIDNEY – Theodore “Ted” Hamburg, 88, formerly of Savage, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at the Sidney Health center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at the First Lutheran Church in Savage. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Lee N. Howey
MUSSELSHELL – Lee N. Howey, 80, died June 18, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital.
Lee was born June 19, 1919, in Musselshell to Nye and Pearl Howey. He entered the Navy in June 1941 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack. He was discharged in December 1946. On Aug. 27, 1946, he married Helen Thoni in Colville, Wash. Upon returning to Montana, he sheared sheep and worked on farms in the Musselshell and Melstone areas.
Lee is survived by his wife, Helen of Musselshell; sons, Rocky (Freda) of Billings, Gary (Brandy) of Hinsdale, Mont.; daughter, Dixie (Glen) Breilting of Fort Lewis, Wash.; brothers, Burt of Boulder, Mont., Roland (Liz) of Billings, Bob (Jo Ellyn) of Musselshell; sister, Edna Swain of Pinedale, Wyo., seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Wier Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Musselshell cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Musselshell EMTs, Hawke Creek Fire Dept. or charity of choice. Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Janet Matelich Kelly
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Janet Kelly passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, in San Francisco. She was born in Anaconda Oct. 24, 1918, to Joseph and Marie Matelich. She was raised in Anaconda, graduating from Anaconda High School in 1936.
She married Michael James Kelly of Butte in April of 1942, and together they moved to San Francisco where they have continued to reside. Janet worked many occupations in the Bay area retiring from Safeway Food Store. She was a very active volunteer for the Little Sisters of the Poor, Good Shepherd Guild and Little Children’s Aid. Janet was an active bridge and dominos player and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand dog, Emily Rose, a darling little pug.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Michael; daughter, Cindy Kelly of Daly City; sister, Vivienne Duff of Castro Valley; niece, Vivienne Duff of Hayward; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kelly of Petaluma; great niece, Cindy (Graughan) Berzel of Billings, Mont., along with many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday after 4 p.m. and to attend the Vigil Service Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Stephen’s Church, 601 Eucalyptus Drive, San Francisco. Committal at Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Annes Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, 300 Lake St., San Francisco, CA 94118–1397.

Marion ‘Pagel’ Knight
PARK CITY – Marion (Pagel) Knight, 82, formerly of Reeder, N.D., died on June 17, 2000, in Billings, Mont.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, (June 22) at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, New England, N.D. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home from 12 noon to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Walter A. ‘Wally’ Krumenacker
THREE FORKS – Walter A. “Wally” Krumenacker, passed away peacefully at home June 16, 2000, in Three Forks, after a lengthy illness with cancer.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922 in Great Falls to John and Ella Krumenacker. He graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1940. On Aug. 14, 1943, Wally married Ernestine L. (Ernie) Dunahoo in Billings. They have three daughters, Connie (Doug) Denler of Montana City, Sandra (Roy) Carr of Belgrade and Diane (Jim) Wise of Billings.
Wally was employed as a truck driver with Garrett Freightlines in Billings for 16 years. He worked as a licensed boiler engineer at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, and MSU in Bozeman before retiring in 1986.
In 1964, Wally joined the Masonic Lodge. He was a past member of Billings Lodge No. 113, a member and past master of both Belgrade Lodge No. 68 and Three Forks Lodge No. 73. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sweetbriar Chapter No. 49 of Manhattan, Mont. He loved to fish, hunt and play cribbage. One of his greatest interests was playing music and he enjoyed his guitar. He also loved his faithful dog, “Teddy, ” and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters and sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will miss you, Grandpa Wally!
A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Three Forks United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lyle Hamilton and Hospice Chaplain Mary Piper officiating. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Sunset Memorial Garden cemetery in Billings. Memorial contributions may be made to Gallatin Hospice, 915 Highland Blvd., Bozeman, MT 59715 or to Camp Mak-A-Dream, P.O. Box 7456, Missoula, MT 59807 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Raymond A. Rangunot
BIG HORN, Wyo. – Raymond A. Rangunot, 76, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in the VA Medical Center in Sheridan, Wyo.
Viewing will be all day Tuesday, June 20, until 5 p.m. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the Black Hills National cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Frank J. Schmidt
PLENTYWOOD – Frank J. Schmidt, 79, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home following a long battle with cancer.
A public vigil will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be held in Plentywood Memorial cemetery.
