Bertrand ‘Bud’ Seifert
BOZEMAN – Bertrand Thomas ‘Bud’ Seifert, 85, died at his home on June 26, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Hope Lutheran Church. Dokken-Nelson was in charge of arrangements.

Robert D. Spoonheim
MOORE – Robert D. Spoonheim, 16, passed away Monday evening at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown of an apparent accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was born June 6, 1984, in Havre, the son of Melvin R. and Janice (Gidley) Spoonheim. He began his schooling at Dodson before moving to Lewistown and continuing school from 6th grade, completing the 10th grade this year.
He was active in FFA and band at Fergus High School. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, country-western music and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Janice, and maternal grandparents, Jim and Rose Gidley all of Moore; sister, Trish Lynn Spoonheim of Culbertson; maternal great-grandmother, Lucille Hader of Harlem; uncles, Richard Hader of Missoula and John and aunt Roxann Caraway of Forest Grove, Ore., and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, in the Cloyd Chapel with interment to follow in Central Montana Memorial Gardens. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may make memorials to the FFA and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

Charity Reddoor Wing
POPLAR – Charity Reddoor Wing, 98, died on Monday, June 26, 2000, at the Poplar Nursing Home.
Visitations will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, at the Lindsay Memorial Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at the Chelsea Church. Interment will be in the Chelsea cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

James J. Steiner
LAFAYETTE, Calif. – James Jerome Steiner, 89, formerly of Clyde Park, Mont., died on Thursday, June 22, 2000, in Walnut Creek.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Clyde Park. Graveside committal and interment will follow in Clyde Park cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home of Livingston is in charge.

Howard Lawrence Mattson
MANHATTAN - Howard Lawrence Mattson, 81, of Manhattan, passed away Friday, May 12, of natural causes.
He was born March 2, 1919, in Bozeman to Eric McCall and Ingeborg Mattson. Howard grew up and attended schools in the Logan and Greycliff areas of Montana. He joined the National Guard in 1941 and was pressed into active duty with the 163 (41st Infantry) Division in the South Pacific, mainly on New Guinea, during WWII.
He married (Irene) Luciel Cloninger of Bozeman on Jan. 20, 1942, shortly before being sent overseas. After the war, Howard worked as outside salesman for Montana Motor Supply before managing the Manhattan Bowling Lanes beginning the fall of 1959. Howard later bought the lanes which he sold upon his retirement in 1978. Howard also built the Manhattan Camper Court on Wooden Shoe Lane. Luciel preceded him in death on July 7, 1997.
Howard and Luciel have three children: Janet of Gaithersburg Md., Gary of Loveland Colo., and Don who has lived with his father (Howard) the past three years. Howard also has five grandsons, three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by one half-brother, Fred (Dorine) Mattson of Billings; and two half sisters, Mildred (Herman) Krumm and Beverly (George) Latta of Huntley.
Howard was a member of the American Legion and the Bozeman Elks Lodge where he spent many a pleasurable afternoon these last few years, always having a kind word and a smile for everyone.
Howard and Luciel's three children feel very privileged and blessed that they had such wonderful parents.
Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. Services will be held at the Manhattan Bible Church in Manhattan on South Fifth Street beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15. Interment will be at Meadow View cemetery.

Thomas H. Nevin
BIG TIMBER - Thomas H. Nevin, 85, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at the Pioneer Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lowry Funeral Home with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Worthington
Mary E. Worthington, 92, longtime and well-known Billings resident, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the Valley Health Care Center.
She was born Dec. 18, 1907, in Agricola, Kan., the daughter of James and Rebecca Eisaman Simpson. Mary was schooled and educated in Bozeman and attended Montana State University. She married LaSelle (Bud) Worthington in Livingston on July 25, 1928, and they made their home in Billings except for a couple residencies in Butte. Forever faithful companion and soul mate, they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. She was always very supportive of her husband and family in whatever endeavors they did.
She was a member of the Women's Club and the Yellowstone Country Club Ladies Group. Her favorite pastimes included bridge and bingo. Luck was always with her. A talented seamstress, many a holiday she outfitted her grandchildren. Mary was the master of candy and cookie baking. Many of her secrets recipes are still unrevealed.
Survivors include her husband Bud; children James L. (Betty) Worthington of Billings, Diane (George) Gelernter of Great Falls, and Robert A. (Marsha) Worthington of Helena; a sister Betty Overturf of Bozeman; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mary has been preceded in death by her parents, a brother Clyde and a sister Helen.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th and St. Johns Ave. A reception will follow at the West Park Village Retirement Home. Inurnment will take place at Absarokee Beartooth Columbarium. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital Transportation Fund.

Wilbur Bo Anderson
Bo Anderson went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2000. He was born in Billings on July 10, 1948, to Willie and Arvalee Anderson.
He had many friends who loved him dearly. For the past 11 years, he cooked at the Eagle Nest Lounge.
He is survived by his children, Candy Anderson and Kathy Meisner of Columbus, Dan Anderson of Park City; four brothers and one sister, Gary Fred, Carol, Bobby Dan, Don and Joe; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, Eighth Street West and St. Johns, in Billings. Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Eagle Nest.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Chase Hawks Foundation, P.O. Box 31333, Billings, MT 59107.
We will miss you deeply, Dad!

LeRoy Francis Axtell
LeRoy Francis Axtell, 71, of Billings, passed away at the Montana Veterans Home in Glendive Thursday, May 11, 2000.
He was born July 31, 1928, in Glasgow, the son of Roy Axtell and Anna Cichon Axtell. His family moved east of Billings in the 1930s from Fort Peck, and LeRoy attended Central Catholic High School and later joined the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1949, he married Betty Jean Gamble in Ohio. He worked as a meat cutter, rancher, electrician and plumber. He owned L.F. Axtell Plumbing and Heating, retiring due to illness in 1990.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and most of all working.
LeRoy was a member of the VFW in Billings.
Survivors include his children, Suzan “Steve” Budde of Billings, LeRoy “Holly” Axtell of Billings, and Pam “Larry” Kjolso of Seattle; two sisters, Mary Fink of Park City and Eleanor “Reinhold” Kober of Billings; eight grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Michael and a brother, William “Bill” Axtell.
Memorial services will be 3 p. m. Tuesday, May 16, at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Cremation has taken place.

Shawn A. Bauwens
‘Hopper’
At the young age of 27, Shawn Bauwens died peacefully at his home in Fromberg, surrounded by his family and friends. Shawn died early Thursday morning, May 11, 2000. Shawn was born the son of Albert C. and Evelyn L. (Frank) Bauwens in Billings, on June 1, 1972. He graduated from Fromberg High School in 1990 and attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated at MSU-Billings with a degree in management and marketing.
Shawn worked for UPS and most recently for FedEx Ground. He took great pride in his hard work. Just recently, in recognition of his dedication, Shawn received the Best Sort Manager Award. It is an accomplishment that made him very proud. Golfing, motor cross and working out at the gym were some of his favorite hobbies, but he loved working on the family farm. Recently, Shawn moved back to Fromberg from Vancouver, Wash., to spend time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn; sister, Julie (Mike) Jones, their children, Walt, Kandee, Carl and Lindsey; brothers, Scott (Deb) Bauwens, their children, Marcie, Janice and Kristen; Kim (Ede) Bauwens, son, Trent; Randy (Megan) Bauwens, son, Tyson and his dear friend, Anita Larson and her son, Chris.
Shawn has joined in heaven his father, Albert and brother, Alan. Your family and friends will miss you “Hopper.
A Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fromberg. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Fromberg Gymnasium with interment in the Rockvale cemetery. Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Beartooth Hospice, Red Lodge, MT 59068.

William R. Bolzer
William R. Bolzer, 64, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Beartooth Manor in Columbus. Memorial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Baptist Church on Centennial Road officiated by Pastor Brent B. Smith.
He was loved by all his family, friends and his dog Fritz. Bill and Fritz made many motorcycle trips together on his Harley. He enjoyed fishing and boating. Bill loved to visit with everyone he met and was a very good storyteller.
Bill served his country during the Korean Conflict. He drove truck and worked in construction until retiring in 1996.
Bill was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Gorden, Neb., to Ben and Linda Bolzer. He moved to Columbus in 1955. He is survived by his sons, Bret (Kim) Jette of Columbus and Bryan (Cheri) Jette of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Sheila McCombs of Portland; grandchildren, Travis, Andrea and Ariel Jette of Columbus, Cole Jette of Portland, Alisha Mikelson and Clinton and Amber McCombs of Portland; his mother, Linda Bolzer; brother, Dick (Edyie) Bolzer of Bridger; sister-in-law, Janie Bolzer of Columbus; and nieces and nephew, Michele O’Donnel and Alisa Ulmer of Billings and Becky Wegner and Greg Bolzer of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ben Bolzer and his brother, Larry Bolzer.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Robert Brown
SIDNEY – Robert Brown, 82, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center, Sidney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, at the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Paul A. Dressen
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Paul Ashton Dressen, 74, died Thursday, May 11, 2000.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Riverside cemetery.

Donald F. Emineth
LAUREL – Donald F. Emineth, 61, of Laurel, passed away at his home in Laurel, Friday, May 12, 2000.
Don was born at Mandan, N.D., Oct. 14, 1938. He and his family moved to Laurel in 1948 and lived at Riverside Park where his parents were the park caretakers. He attended Laurel schools and graduated from Laurel High School in 1957. There were many memories about Riverside Park, including Emo’s Casino.
Don was in the U.S. Navy for four years and returned to Laurel in 1961 and then started working at the U.S. Post Office until retiring in 1998.
He married Linda Frickel on July 25, 1970.
Don will be remembered by all for his total honesty and his sense of humor. He entertained us all with his singing and his wit He had many hobbies including gardening, painting and wood working. He was also the financial planner, and he tried to guide us all towards a positive future. This year he particularly loved being outside with his grandson, Kaleb, and helping his father-in-law, Ruben, work in the garden.
Don, you will be missed by all who love you.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Laurel; daughters, Anita Emineth and her son, Kaleb, both of Billings, Kristene Emineth of Laurel; sons, Robert Emineth of Billings and Kevin Emineth (Amy) of Laurel; brothers, Jim (Arvella) Emineth of Laurel, Ken (Shirley) Emineth of Billings, Clarence (Elinor) Emineth of Augusta, Ga., and Cletus (Barb) Emineth of Laurel, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel cemetery.
Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
