WOLF POINT – Owen Francis Weeks (Wiyaga Waste/Good Feather), 76, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at the Northeast Montana Health Services.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, and prayer services will be at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the United Dakota Presbyterian Church in Wolf Point. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery Veteran’s Circle with military rites.

H. Maynard Eggen
WESTBY – H. Maynard Eggen, 78, died in Sun City, Ariz., on Tuesday, June 20, 2000.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Our Saviour’s cemetery near Westby.

Floyd E. Ellison
BASIN, Wyo. – Rev. Floyd E. Ellison, 95, died June 21, 2000, at the Wyoming Retirement Center.
Visitations will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Atwood Family Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Mount View cemetery.

Lavina Ford
SIDNEY – Lavina Ford, 88, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center-Extended Care Facility.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Patricia Lippard
BIG HORN, Wyo. – Patricia Lippard, 61, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, from Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Joseph H. Lundin
ROUNDUP – Joseph H. Lundin, 74, died on Tuesday, June 20, at the Roundup Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and services will be at a later date. Wier Funeral Home is in charge.

Vernon Osgood
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Vernon Osgood, 83, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City, Mont.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Wesleyan Church. Family viewing and graveside service will take place earlier Saturday at the Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City and Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan are in charge.

Herman ‘Ike’ Schessler
LAUREL – Herman “Ike” Schessler, 91, died peacefully after a long illness at the Deaconess Hospital on June 21, 2000, with his family present at his side. He was born in Park City in 1908 and was the youngest son of Elizabeth (Benner) and Henry Schessler Sr. He was schooled in Park City and attended the University of Minnesota.
Ike married Lois Price of Laurel, Sept. 18, 1930. Lois preceded him in death in 1992.
In his early years, he operated the Laurel ice plant with his father and hauled coal. In the 1940s he started an excavation business and expanded into sand and gravel. This is the 50th anniversary of the Schessler Ready Mix business, now in its third generation of the Schessler family business.
Ike was past master of the Laurel Corinthian Masonic Lodge, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Chanters in the Al Bedoo Shrine in Billings, and served as president of the Laurel Rotary Club.
Ike was one of the first to start the Laurel Golf Club. He was very community minded in Laurel and worked hard to help new start-up businesses for the betterment of the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He was a devoted husband, father and brother and will be greatly missed. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Zoppelli; two sons, Don and Bob; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Laurel United Methodist Church. Interment with Masonic Rites will be in the Laurel cemetery followed by a gathering at the Methodist Church. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions may be given to the Laurel United Methodist Church, Corinthian Lodge No. 72 AF&AM or the Al Bedoo Shrine Children’s Hospitals.

Berdon W. Smith
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Berdon William Smith, 71, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, from Ferries Funeral Home.

Ruth Watt
ASHLAND – Ruth Watt died at the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda on June 20, 2000.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 26, at the Watt family ranch near Ashland.

Peter Bekker
SCOBEY – Peter, 94, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at the Daniels Memorial Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Waller Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be in the Scobey cemetery.

Anita Mae ‘Skeet’ Nelson
KAYCEE, Wyo. – Anita Mae “Skeet” Lund Nelson, 79, died at her home in Kaycee.
Visitation will be held from 1-10 p.m. Friday at the Adams Funeral Home and from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Mission Baptist Church in Kaycee. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Grace Mission Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at the Kaycee cemetery.

Arthur James Mullaney
Arthur James Mullaney was born Nov. 22, 1921 in Boston and died peacefully in his sleep on June 17, 2000, at Saint Vincent Hospital after a long battle with congestive heart failure and renal cancer.
Arthur was the loving father of Martha Arguelles and her husband Enrico and their children Nathaniel, Alannah and Raissa of Billings; Eleanor Baron and her son Matthew of Concord, N.H.; and Mary Mullaney and her husband Richard DeAngelis and their children Rebekah, Justin, Gabriel and Martin of Montpelier, Vt.
Arthur was married to Derry Doucette, the mother of his three daughters for 27 years, until she died of cancer in 1973. He subsequently was married to Dorothy Berry for 12 years until she died in 1987 of a heart attack. In 1989, he moved from his beloved home of Reading, Mass. to Alameda, Calif., to marry Julia Knights, who died suddenly after surgery in March, prompting Arthur’s final move to Billings to be near his daughter and son-in law. The loss of three wives that he loved became defining events in Arthur’s life that caused him great sadness.
He will be greatly missed by his family, especially those of us in Billings who shared his last two and one half months while he resided at St. John’s Retirement Home, after he moved from Alameda in late March. We will always consider this time with Grandpa as a great gift, and are grateful that his long and full life came to an end nearby where we could care for him and enjoy his company.
Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be interred in early July in the family plot in Reading beside his wife Derry. He is survived by three of his nine siblings, all living in the Boston area; Louise, Pauline and Paul and more than 40 nieces and nephews.
Arthur’s service in the Army during WWII and his long career in construction was marked by hard work, integrity and generosity towards his colleagues and subordinates alike
A private service took place Sunday afternoon at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Donations in Arthur’s memory may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Home Foundation. He was warmly cared for at St. John’s and his family is grateful for the final home St. John’s provided him with.
The memory of Arthur’s generosity, resilience in life and loving way will always be a blessing for our family.

Arthur B. Nasby
Arthur B. Nasby, 89, of Billings passed away June 17, 2000, at ValleVista Manor where he has resided for the past eight years.
Art was born in Leroy, Minn., a son of Ole Knutson and Gana Vold Nasby. He moved at an early age with his parents who homesteaded on Cow Creek in McCone County where he received his education.
He married Cleo Lloyd on Oct. 12, 1941, in Circle and soon settled in the Billings area. He worked for a number of trucking companies as a diesel mechanic, retiring in 1976. He enjoyed walking, singing, hunting and fishing and was a charter member of the Roughriders Four Wheel Club.
Survivors include son, James (Ann) Nasby of Billings; and daughter, Janet (Jim) Barr of Shepherd, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cleo in 1990; daughter, Judy Bosshardt in 1980 and six sisters and three brothers.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First English Lutheran, 1243 N. 3lst St. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Walter A. “Wally” Krumenacker
THREE FORKS – Walter A. “Wally” Krumenacker, passed away peacefully at home June 16, 2000, in Three Forks, after a lengthy illness with cancer.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922 in Great Falls to John and Ella Krumenacker. He graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1940. On Aug. 14, 1943, Wally married Ernestine L. (Ernie) Dunahoo in Billings. They have three daughters, Connie (Doug) Denler of Montana City, Sandra (Roy) Carr of Belgrade and Diane (Jim) Wise of Billings.
Wally was employed as a truck driver with Garrett Freightlines in Billings for 16 years. He worked as a licensed boiler engineer at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, and MSU in Bozeman before retiring in 1986.
In 1964, Wally joined the Masonic Lodge. He was a past member of Billings Lodge #112, a member and past master of both Belgrade Lodge #68 and Three Forks Lodge #73. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sweetbriar Chapter #49 of Manhattan, Mont. He loved to fish, hunt and play cribbage. One of his greatest interests was playing music and he enjoyed his guitar. He loved his faithful dog, “Teddy, ” and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters and sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will miss you Grandpa Wally!
A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Three Forks United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lyle Hamilton and Hospice Chaplain Mary Piper officiating. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Sunset Memorial Garden cemetery in Billings. Memorial contributions may be made to Gallatin Hospice, 915 Highland Blvd., Bozeman, MT 59715 or to Camp Mak-A-Dream, P.O. Box 7456, Missoula, MT 59807 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert A. Marsh
BALLANTINE – Robert A. Marsh, 71 of Ballantine, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the Deaconess Hospital following a long illness.
The son of Leonard and Hazel Marsh, he was born May 15, 1929 in Billings.
Robert served in both the Army and Navy. He had worked construction and for 23 years for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1993.
He married Elizabeth “Betty” Trottier in Billings on Sept. 7, 1974.
Bob loved fishing, playing cards, dancing, sitting at a Keno machine with dollars in his hands, and going to the horse races. He also enjoyed visiting with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Betty of Ballantine, five step-sons, Chuck (Mary) Trottier of Fort Totten, N.D., Tim (Donna) Trottier and Robert (Andi) Trottier of Poplar, Joe (Michelle) Trottier of Ballantine, and Alex (Lisa) Trottier of Colo.; four step-daughters, Laura (Wayne) Love, Kim (Paul Hirt) Johnson, Bernie (Jack) Vaughn, and Royleene (Rich) Baracker, all of Billings, one brother Jim (Barbara) Marsh of Billings, two sisters, Blanche (Ken) Nordland of Billings and Cleo (Don) Shaules of Ballantine; three nieces, three nephews, 21 step-grandchildren, and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Georgiana Marsh.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary with interment in Pleasantview cemetery, Ballantine.

Jacob T. “Jake” Loran
Jacob T. “Jake” Loran, 80, of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital. One of 10 children born to Nick and Katherine (Benz) Loran, Jake was born on a farm near Richardton, N.D., on May 18, 1920.
At the age of three, the family moved to Montana, settling in Missoula. As a youngster and into his teen years, Jake worked as a newsboy on the streets of Missoula selling newspapers and in a small way, joining other family members in support during the depression years. He graduated from St. Francis Parochial School and Missoula County High. Jake later attended many seminar and trade schools, including the Graduate & Treasury Dept., the FBI Crime School in Glenco, Ga., ICC Investigators Training School in Washington and the College of Advanced Traffic in Chicago.
Jake entered the service with the NP Railroad at Charlos Heights, Mont., on May 12, 1941, as an extra-gang timekeeper. He proceeded with NP through various positions in freight and traffic offices at Missoula, Helena, Billings, and Seattle with 11 years as assistant and transloading agent at Billings and five years as assistant agent at Seattle.
On Dec. 19, 1942, Jake married Stella Pait in Bushwell, Fla., and they had three children. In 1942, he entered military service and served during World War II. He was awarded seven battle stars for action in campaigns in the Pacific from New Guinia, Biak, Pelilu, Leyte and the Manila areas, concluding at Ie Shima, Okinawa. He was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation Badge for duty at the Leyte Invasion. Jake was honorably discharged as a master sergeant in November of 1945.
In 1973, Jake accepted an appointment with the Interstate Commerce Commision as a special agent in Portland, Ore. He was later promoted to senior special agent for Pacific Northwest. In 1981, he was transferred to Billings as officer in charge of the Montana ICC, from which he retired in 1986.
From an early age, Jake was an avid hunter and fisherman. In later years, he made many bird houses, which were donated to friends, neighbors, and ZooMontana. He was an original member of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Billings Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Agnes, and three brothers, Ludwig, Sebastion, and John.
Survivors include his wife, Stella of Billings; his daughters, Yvonne Kammerzell (Arlen) of Billings and Elaine Loran of Seattle; his son, David of Sumner, Wash.; his sisters, Ange McCoy, Eva DuBois, Irene Peterson, and Lorene Loran, all of Missoula, and Mary Ann Lynch of Gardena, Calif.; six grandchildren, Anique Albrecht (David) and Terra Scherr (Tony) of Billings, Arlen G. Kammerzell, Jammie Loran, Jacob Loran, and Jenelle Loran of Seattle; and one great-grandson, Anthony Jacob Scherr of Billings.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Monday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist. A Vigil Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, and Funeral Mass celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at St. Pius X Church. Rite of Committal with military honors will follow in the Calvary cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Pius X Church, 717 18th St. West, Billings, MT 59102 or the charity of one’ s choice.
