TOWNSEND – Charles Eugene Adams, 80, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church with inurnment to follow at Deep Creek cemetery. Connors Funeral Home is in charge.

Fred Curtis Bard
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Fred Curtis Bard, 88, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Viewing will be all day on Wednesday, May 10, until 5 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday from Ferries Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Hazel Follose
PLENTYWOOD – Hazel Follose, 88, was found dead at her home Friday, May 5, 2000, where she had taken her own life.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Plentywood Memorial cemetery.

Lyle Parker, Jr.
WACO, Texas – Lyle E. Parker Jr., “Butch”, 53, of Bryan and Waco, made his final journey to his heavenly home on May 5, 2000. Services were held Monday, May 8, at Connally/Compton Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Cruz officiating. Interment followed at China Spring cemetery.
Lyle was born April 16, 1947, in Wichita Falls to Maxine Walraven of Wichita Falls and Lyle Parker Sr. of Billings. Lyle grew up in a very special family. His younger years were divided between going to school in Wichita Falls and summers in South Dakota on the family farm. He was a 1967 graduate of Rider High School and briefly attended both Midwestern University and TSTC.
Lyle married Patti Jo Grierson in 1969, and moved to Waco area. They were married 14 years and had two children, Susan and Jay. Lyle went to work for the Waco Tribune Herald as an apprentice at the age of 22 and worked his way up to production director. He devoted 22 years to the Tribune. After several vocational opportunities, Lyle chose to advance his career and moved to the Bryan-College Station area where he became the production director of the Eagle. Along with his new position, Lyle acquired many great friends who could be considered family.
Lyle loved the out doors, his John Deere tractor collection and spending time with his family and friends. He helped raise two children and was involved in may parts of their lives. He coached little league baseball, softball, and soccer. Horses, carpentry, and the History Channel were also passions in his life. In 1999, Lyle met Deborah and the “Brady Bunch” was formed. Through thick and thin, in good times and bad, Lyle was there for everyone and had helped shaped many lives. He was truly a jack of all trades. He planned his work and worked his plan. The man who could even make the trees listen.
Survivors include loving companion and finance, Deborah Key, and children Melissa and Jason Key of Waco; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Heath Hohertz of Goldhwaite, Texas; a son, Jay Parker of Bryan, Texas; a dearly loved grandson, Hagen Parker Hohertz of Goldthwaite, Texas; mother, Maxine Walraven of Wichita Falls; father and step-mother, Lyle and Beatrice Parker, of Billings; three brothers and their wives, Glen and Jan Parker of Lancaster, Kevin and Debbie Parker of Billings, and Joel Parker of Billings; a sister, Tamara Barnes of Helena; many aunts, uncles, two nephews, three nieces, and several cousins; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Mitchell of Estelline, S.D., Joshua Parker of Randlett, Okla., Jeremy Parker of Wichita Falls, Tim Jinks of Benbrook, Larry Walters of Waco, and Dennis Baird of Temple.
Honorary pallbearers were Norman Huddleston, Ervin McRae, Billy Hurst, and all those close to him at the Trib. And the Eagle.
Memorials and contributions may be sent to Scott and White Hospice and the American Cancer Society.

Ralph J. Johnson
BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Ralph J. Johnson, 86, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home of the Northern Hills and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. from the Community Lutheran Church in Hill City, with Masonic rites by Tin City Lodge No. 112. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Zeona, S.D.

Rose Theisen
LIVINGSTON – Rose Theisen, 91, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Frontier Personal Care Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11 and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May12, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery.

William E. Dickinson
BASIN, Wyo. – William Eugene Dickinson, 65, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Cody, after a short illness caused by pulmonary fibrosis.
Visitations will be Wednesday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Atwood Family Chapel, with an open casket. Closed casket will be held at the Relief Society Room from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to church service. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Thursday, May 22, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Basin Ward. Interment will follow at the Mount View cemetery.

Tyson James Grinsteiner
Tyson James Grinsteiner was born Saturday, March 14, 1987, and went to live with the Lord on May 7, 2000. Ty was an energetic young man and a friend to everyone he met, regardless of age. He was raised in a strong Christian family and he truly loved the Lord.
He had many interests in life. He was well versed in military history, aviation, guns, and loved to work with his hands. Ty loved to work around wood and mechanical items.
Growing up, Ty enjoyed Royal Rangers and particularly loved the pinewood derbies. He played the drums and attended Lewis and Clark School.
He was his father’s shadow and loved to spend time at the cabin near Gardiner. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and went on his first elk hunt last fall. Ty was becoming quite a horseman and always looked forward to going riding.
For a young man of his age, he had a splendid sense of humor and was never too inhibited to give someone a hug. He was very devoted to his grandparents and saw them daily.
Tyson, we all know that the words “I love you” were not just words to you. You meant them. You were a blessing to your family and we will all miss you until we see you again. We love you!!
Tyson is survived by his parents, Tom and Robin Grinsteiner, his sister, Taryn Grinsteiner, and his grandparents, Tom and Alberta Love. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and was loved by all.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Retrofire Ministries c/o First Assembly Life Center, 550 32nd St. West, Billings MT 59102.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at First Assembly Life Center, 550 32nd St. West, Billings, Mont. Interment will be at Mountview cemetery, Billings, Mont.
Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Rose J. Barbula
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Rose J. Barbula, 91, lifelong Sheridan resident, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2000, at Sheridan Manor.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Kane Funeral Home with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Eugene Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the Eagles section of the Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Louise E. Shuffield
EKALAKA – Louise E. Shuffield, 83, passed away Monday, May 8, 2000, at the Dahl Memorial Hospital. Following Louise’s wishes no funeral services will be held. Burial will be at a later date. Stevenson’s Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Buckingham
Robert J. Buckingham, 83, of Billings, formerly of Terry, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot in Prairie County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of arrangements.

Hilda F. Hopkins
POWELL, Wyo. – Hilda F. Hopkins, 81, passed away Monday, May 9, 2000, at her home in Powell.
She was born in St. Cloud, Minn. on Aug. 1, 1918, daughter of Henry and Maggie Schleper. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Wayne (Hoppy) Hopkins, her parents and her brothers.
She will be deeply missed by her two loyal canine companions, Toy and Panda; many friends at the Powell Hospital and Nursing Home, a special friend Sally Montoya, and Jeremy and Kim Easum who she referred to as her grandchildren and their dog Sopie who brought them together.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 12, at Crown Hill cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Powell Nursing Home.

Michael George Stephenson
LAVINA – Michael George Stephenson, 85, died Sunday evening, May 7, at his daughter and son-in-law’s home in Billings.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Hansen Stephenson; his daughters, Judy Stevenson of Lavina, Edie (Jerry) McDonald of Billings, Midji Stevenson of Tucson, Ariz., Teresa (Richard) Stein of Sacramento, Calif.; his son, Jim (Brenda) Stephenson of Billings; and a grandson, Ryan Moreno of Bozeman. Mick is also survived by brothers, Vic (Ruby) Stephenson of Lavina and Kelly (Arline) Stephenson of Wellton, Ariz.; six nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
Mick was preceded in death by his baby sister, Goldie Jane; his brother, Jack Stephenson; and his parents.
He was the firstborn of George Farquharson Stephenson and Goldie Powell Stephenson. Mick was born in a homestead cabin on the farm which he has called home his entire life.
Mick served many years on the Hay Basin and Roundup High School boards and on the ASCS committee in Musselshell County. He was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, May 11, from 5-9 p.m. at Wier Funeral Home, 208 1st St. W., Roundup. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 503 Main, Roundup.

Stanley W. Thornton
CULBERTSON – Stanley W. Thornton, 79, of Culbertson, died at his home on Sunday, May 7, from lung cancer.
Stanley was born Oct. 2, 1920, on the family homestead in Lambert to Louise and Minnie Thornton.
Throughout the years, Stanley worked for various ranchers and farmers. The last was for John Beck of Culbertson. He was a hard worker and took pride in being dependable. In spite of the loss of his arm at an early age, there were few tasks he couldn’t accomplish. Stanley loved the outdoors, animals, and riding his horse.
Stanley will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, thankfulness, his endless silly songs and his love for children.
Stanley held a deep appreciation for the health care providers who cared for him the last years of his life. He continually expressed his thanks to them and the community for all the care, kindness and the many little extra’s that were done for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Stacy Thornton and Rick Woehl; grandchildren, Chance, Braxton, and Bryton of Dickinson, N.D.; sisters, Louise Tyre of Sidney, Bertha Pharis of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Cap (Edna) Thornton of Townsend, Ed (Zona) Thornton of Lewistown, and Kenneth (Kaye) Thornton of Sidney, numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.
For the past twenty-five years, Stanley lived in the Culbertson area with his extended family. All of us have our special memories with “Uncle Stan”!
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson with Rev. Al Beyer officiating. Cremation has taken place. Everson.-Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Carl J. Barz
Carl J. Barz, 89, passed away on May 1, 2000, at St. Johns Lutheran Home. Carl was born on Sept. 17, 1910, in Snyder, Neb., to William and Mary Barz. He graduated from Fremont, Neb., High School and graduated from Midland College in Fremont. On July 1, 1934, he married Marjorie Petersen in Fremont. They lived in Fairbury, Neb., where Carl managed a wholesale grocery warehouse for H. P. Law Co. until 1953 when they moved to Billings. Carl worked for Northland Steel Co. for 31 years and retired as president and Chairman of the board in 1984.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, woodcarving, gem cutting, bird watching, gardening, archeology, geology, potting, and numerous craft projects. Carl loved his hobbies, but always found time to spend on special projects for his many good friends and family. He and Marj were enthusiastic sports fans, and attended thousands of local sports events throughout the years. They seldom missed a grandson’s or granddaughter’s sports competition. Carl, an Eagle Scout, spent many years as a scout leader, developing many fine young citizens of whom he was very proud.
Carl served as an elder of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the Woodcarvers and Ducks Unlimited. He was also a 47-year member of Billings Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as its president from 1964 to 1965.
His family includes his wife, Marjorie; a daughter, Mary Lou (David) Camp, Carson City, Nev., and two grandchildren, Gibb (Kathy) and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Dulcinea, Boise, Idaho; and Susan (David) Landers and great-grandsons, Paul and Kevin, Longmont, Colo.; and son, Art (Sandy) of Billings and granddaughters Darcy, Chicago, Ill., Karla (Rick) Stauffer, Grapevine, Texas, and Tonya (Tyler) Bush, Fredericksburg, Va.; and son, Dan (Diane) and grandson, Rocky of Billings. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to a wake in celebration of Carl’s life on Saturday, May13, at 7 p.m. at the home of Art and Sandy Barz, 1928 Lyndale Lane. Please bring your favorite hunting, fishing, or other “Carl Story”!
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be on May 14, at 2 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary, 10001 Alderson Ave. in Billings. Memorials may be made to Family Services, Inc. or the charity of your choice.
