CODY, Wyo. – Roy Eugene Gordon, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000.
Memorials services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the Ballard Funeral Home. Interment of cremains will follow in the Belfry cemetery.

Connie Mae Mathison Hauff
GLENDIVE – Connie Mae Mathison Hauff, 50, died suddenly of a brain aneurysm on Sunday, June 25, 2000, at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge.

Josephine Bull Tail Little Light
LODGE GRASS – Josephine Donelle “Sunshine” Bull Tail Little Light, passed away Sunday morning, June 25, 2000, in a two car accident south of Garryowen.
“One with Good Day” (her Indian name) was born March 1, 1981, in Sheridan, Wyo., a daughter of Clyde Little Light and Carol Bull Tail. She grew up and attended schools in Lodge Grass, graduating from Lodge Grass High School in 1999. She was currently attending Little Big Horn College in Crow Agency.
Josephine was a member of the Catholic Church, Ties that Bundle Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Little Light of Lodge Grass; her mother, Carol Bull Tail of Lodge Grass; her father and stepmother, Clyde and Karna Little Light of Hardin; three brothers, Leonard Little Light of Colo., Simon and Brandon Bull Tail of Lodge Grass; a very special friend, Norman Other Medicine of Crow Agency; two sisters, Eva Faith Bull Tail of Lodge Grass and Clarissa Little Light of Hardin; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, in the Lodge Grass Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ruth Ellen Maurer
HARLOWTON – Ruth Ellen Maurer, 80, died at her home Sunday, June 25, 2000, of cancer.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at Federated Church with interment in the Harlowton cemetery. Perkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Philip “Freefall” Moore
GREAT FALLS – Philip “Freefall” Moore, 39, passed away June 24, 2000, at Chico, Mont., of injuries due to a sky diving accident.
Philip was born Jan. 4, 1961 in Cody, Wyo. He attended schools in Cody and graduated from Cody High School. Continuing his education, he attended and graduated from Warner Pacific College at Portland, Ore., with a B. A. in Religion and Christian Ministry, and minor in Christian Education Youth Ministry. He married Laurie Tetzloff, 1981, in Cody, Wyo.
Philip was currently self-employed and owner of Phil’s Quality Siding and Windows, he was a contractor/siding applicator for 18 years. He was also employed as an Associated Pastor of Youth at New Life Fellowship. Philip enjoyed skydiving, music, working with youth and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the United States Parachute Association.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie Moore; daughters, Moriyah Moore and Elishah Moore of Great Falls; mother, Sandra R. Nicol, of Anacortes, Wash., father, Floyd Moore of Cripple Creek, Colo.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Central Assembly of God Church, with burial in Highland cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to New Life Fellowship, 3300 3rd Ave. N., Great Falls, MT 59401.

Richard H. Bacon
BOZEMAN – Richard H. Bacon, 77, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital from complications of abdominal surgery.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, in the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.

Clara H. Becker
Clara H. Becker passed away Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Western Manor Care Center. She was born Sept. 25, 1933, in Shepherd and raised there, a daughter of Peter and Eva Hinkle. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1951. She worked as a bank teller for Security Bank for a number of years after having worked for First National Bank and in Laurel at the First Security Bank.
Clara enjoyed cooking, flowers, handicraft, sewing, crocheting and raising her garden and flowers and very much liked farming and all the work associated with it. She also taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Aid Program at Pilgrim Congregational Church.
She is survived by five children, Holly (Richard) Waddell of Billings who cared for Clara throughout the years; Greg (Cindy) Becker of Casper, Wyo.; Brad (Connie) Becker of Billings; Bob Becker Jr. (Bev) of Butte and Shari (Bob) Hellen of Crosby, N.D.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters: Frieda Swoboda of Billings; Dorothy (Archie) Schroeker of Fallon, Mont.; Betty Henderson of Billings; Evelyn (Marlin) Powell of Billings and Helen (Jay) Shaw of Taylorsville, Utah.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the Pilgrim Congregational Church; 409 S. 36th. Interment will follow at the Rockvale cemetery. Memorials may be made to MS Society, Montana Chapter; P.O. Box 2802, Great Falls, MT 59403 or to Big Sky Hospice, P.O Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.

Betty Bronson Cascaden
GREAT FALLS – Betty Bronson Cascaden, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at a local nursing home of natural causes.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Chapel of Chimes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Betty was born on Feb. 5, 1922 in Ohio, Ill. She grew up in Tiskilwa, Ill., and graduated from high school there. She then attended Dawson Community College in Glendive. From 1952-1958 she owned and operated Long Horn Bar in Glendive. She worked at the Glendive J.C. Penney store until 1963, was a meter maid for the City of Glendive from 1963-1967, bartended in Glendive from 1967-1971. She worked for Smith Clinic in Glasgow from 1972-1978. She then moved to Great Falls where she worked for a collection agency, retiring in 1984.
In 1942, Betty married Russell Howell in Princeton, Ill., and was divorced from him in 1945. She married John Wrigg in 1947 in Billings. They were divorced in 1958. She was married to Charles Bronson in 1959 in Glendive and divorced from him in 1960. In 1983, Betty and Gordon Cascaden were married in Great Falls. His died in 1996.
Betty was a member of Toastmistress in Glasgow and Great Falls. She enjoyed garage sales and hunting.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Keller of Denver; sons, Russell Wrigg of Helena, Charles Wrigg of Great Falls, Mike Wrigg of Helena, and Carlin Wrigg of Billings; sister, Artie-Lee Markegard of Billings; brother, Joe Rutheford of Minnesota; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Anton D. ‘Tony’ Dinardi
GLENDIVE – Anton D. “Tony” Dinardi, age 86, of Glendive, died on Thursday, June 15, 2000, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.
Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Tony was born on Jan. 17, 1914, in Turin, Italy. the son of Andrew and Mary (Ricci) Dinardi. As a 4-month-old infant, he came to the United States through Canada with his mother. They came to Glendive, where his father was waiting for the family. He was raised and educated in Glendive. On Nov. 5, 1932, Tony was united in marriage to Rose Lupo. Tony had worked over 50 years for the Northern Pacific Railroad, mainly as a section foreman.
Tony enjoyed making agate jewelry, cooking, fishing, gardening and dancing. He was a was a devout Catholic, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and held the office of grand knight. He was also a member of the Glendive Senior Citizen’s Center.
Tony dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Fager and her husband, George of Glendive; one sister, Angie Rowin and her husband, Clint of California; granddaughters, Mary Dietz and her husband, Ron of Aberdeen, S.D., Debbie Tweet and her husband, John of Fort Worth, Texas, Tammy Rupnow and her husband, Tony of Great Falls, Toni Goroski and her husband, Mark of Glendive; great-grandchildren, Mandi Yurkovich and her husband, Jason of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Ron Dicta Jr. of Edgeley, N.D., Heather Dietz of Aberdeen, Scott, Amy, Tiffany and Michael Tweet of Fort Worth, Angela and Jennifer Rupnow of Great Falls, and Eric and Amanda Goroski of Glendive; great-great-grandson, Caden Yurkovich of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose in 1991, his son, Ray, four brothers and four sisters.

Taylon Zachary Franklin
FORSYTH – Taylon Zachary Franklin, 3 months old, is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, from injuries received from an automobile accident near Alberton on June 7, 2000.
Taylon was born March 4, 2000, in Miles City, the son of Trina Franklin. He was the light of his mother’s life and all that knew and loved him. Even though Taylon was only with us for a short time, the impact he had on everybody’s life he touched was special. We love and miss you and will meet you again in heaven.
He is survived by his mother, Trina of Forsyth; his grandparents, Donn and JoAnn Franklin of Forsyth; uncles, Travis Franklin of Forsyth and Troy Franklin (Stacey) of Forsyth; his aunt, Trisha Hartgrave (Monty) of Casper; and numerous special great-aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth. Interment will follow in the Forsyth cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Family Assistance Fund, c/o First State Bank of Forsyth, Box 379, Forsyth, MT 59327. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Oran Graff
SCOBEY – Oran Graff, 76, died Thursday, June 14, 2000, at the Daniels Memorial Nursing Home of complications from a stroke.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the Scobey Lutheran Church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Ellen Kelly
MILES CITY – Mary Ellen Kelly, 86, longtime Miles City resident, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center after a long illness.
Mary Ellen was born on April 23, 1914, in Walla Walla, Wash., eldest daughter of attorney Patrick F. “P.F.” Leonard and Mary Genevieve Lawler Leonard. She came with her parents to Miles City at an early age and attended the Ursuline School and Custer County High School, from which she graduated in 1931.
She attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., graduating with a degree in English literature and drama in 1935. Later she did graduate work at the University of California in Los Angeles.
After college, Mary Ellen taught in Little Falls and Foley, Minn. She returned to Miles City and taught English and drama at Custer County High School.
On May 5, 1941, she was married to Daniel O. Kelly at Sacred Heart Church in Miles City. Except for a brief period, the Kellys resided in Miles City from that time on.
Mary Ellen was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish and was a member of the St. Ann’s division of the Altar Society. Her favorite organization was “The Sewing Club.”
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (George) Luger of Albuquerque, N.M., and her sons, Patrick J. (Janet) Kelly of Miles City, Daniel M. (Mary) Kelly of Des Moines, Iowa, and Joseph T. (Jane) Kelly of Billings.
At the time of her death she had seven grandchildren, Brigid Kelly of Portland, Ore., Daniel Kelly of Chicago, Patrick Kelly of New York City, Sarah Luger of San Francisco, David Luger of Edinburgh, Scotland, Peter Luger of Eugene, Ore., and Miles Kelly of Billings.
Also surviving are her sisters Margaret (John) Carr of Miles City and Catherine (Charles) Grady of Great Falls and Mary Ellen’s many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Daniel preceded her in 1985 as did her son, Matthew Leonard Kelly in 1993, her brothers, John Leonard in 1920 and William Leonard in 1921 and her sister, Rose Anne Leonard in 1930.
Vigil will be observed at 7:30 p.m. at Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 18. The funeral rites will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 19, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery. Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel of Miles City has been entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials may be given to the Miles City Library Foundation.

James A. King
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Lt. Col. James A. King died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his home.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.

Arthur M. Leuschen
January 14, 1929 - June 16, 2000
Arthur Melvin Leuschen, 71, of Bridger, passed away early Friday morning, June 16, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Jordan, the son of Mathew and Martha (Hopkinson) Leuschen.
A graduate of Montana State College in Bozeman, Art earned a master’s degree in business administration from Denver University. He was employed as a personnel manager, most recently with Rhone-Poulenc, Inc. in Butte. Since retiring, he has resided in Bridger.
Art is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lucille Leuschen of Bridger; his children, Martha Leuschen of Seattle, Mark E. Leuschen and his wife, Lisa and Jeff Leuschen, all of Arco, Idaho; his sisters, Margaret Grauman (Ed) of Billings and Irene Compton of Columbia Falls; his brothers, Donald Leuschen (Myrtle) of Bozeman and L. Richard Leuschen (Kathleen) of Fair Oaks, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Myrtle E. Axline of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Art was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and James, and two sisters, Patricia Ness and Marjorie Grauman.
Cremation is planned and a memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist.

Jacob R. ‘Jake’ Loran
Jacob T. “Jake” Loran, 80, of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital. One of 10 children born to Nick and Katherine (Benz) Loran, Jake was born on a farm near Richardton, N.D., on May 18, 1920.
At the age of three, the family moved to Montana, settling in Missoula. As a youngster and into his teen years, Jake worked as a newsboy on the streets of Missoula selling newspapers and in a small way, joining other family members in support during the depression years. He graduated from St. Francis Parochial School and Missoula County High. Jake later attended many seminar and trade schools, including the Graduate & Treasury Dept., the FBI Crime School in Glenco, Ga., ICC Investigators Training School in Washington and the College of Advanced Traffic in Chicago.
Jake entered the service with the NP Railroad at Charlos Heights, Mont., on May 12, 1941, as an extra-gang timekeeper. He proceeded with NP through various positions in freight and traffic offices at Missoula, Helena, Billings, and Seattle with 11 years as assistant and transloading agent at Billings and five years as assistant agent at Seattle.
On Dec. 19, 1942, Jake married Stella Pait in Bushwell, Fla., and they had three children. In 1942, he entered military service and served during World War II. He was awarded seven battle stars for action in campaigns in the Pacific from New Guinia, Biak, Pelilu, Leyte and the Manila areas, concluding at Ie Shima, Okinawa. He was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation Badge for duty at the Leyte Invasion. Jake was honorably discharged as a master sergeant in November of 1945.
In 1973, lake accepted an appointment with the Interstate Commerce Commision as a special agent in Portland, Ore. He was later promoted to senior special agent for Pacific Northwest. In 1981, he was transferred to Billings as officer in charge of the Montana ICC, from which he retired in 1986.
From an early age, Jake was an avid hunter and fisherman. In later years, he made many bird houses, which were donated to friends, neighbors, and ZooMontana. He was an original member of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Billings Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Agnes, and three brothers, Ludwig, Sebastion, and John.
Survivors include his wife, Stella of Billings; his daughters, Yvonne Kammerzell (Arlen) of Billings and Elaine Loran of Seattle; his son, David of Sumner, Wash.; his sisters, Ange McCoy, Eva DuBois, Irene Peterson, and Lorene Loran, all of Missoula, and Mary Ann Lynch of Gardena, Calif.; six grandchildren, Anique Albrecht (David) and Terra Scherr (Tony) of Billings, Arlen G. Kammerzell, Jammie Loran, Jacob Loran, and Jenelle Loran of Seattle; and one great-grandson, Anthony Jacob Scherr of Billings.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Monday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist. A Vigil Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, and Funeral Mass celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at St. Pius X Church. Rite of Committal with military honors will follow in the Calvary cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Pius X Church, 717 18th St. West, Billings, MT 59102 or the charity of one’ s choice.
