Ernest K ‘Ernie’ Good
POWELL, Wyo.– Ernest K “Ernie” Good, 81 a lifelong resident of Powell, passed away at his home on Friday morning. He was born on Feb. 13, 1919, to O.E. and Queen B. (Raine) Good.
He attended school in Powell graduating with the Class of 1936. On Sept. 5, 1941, he and Deloris O. Reed were married in Billings. They made their home in the Powell Willwood Community. He was a member of the Methodist Church, United Methodist Men; numerous clubs including the Eagles and Elks; commodore of Big Horn Basin Boat Club, member of the Big Horn Basin Beet Growers Association Board, Park County Weed and Pest Board, Medicine Wheel Snow-goers club. He prided himself in being the first man to join Toastmasters Club. He was on the board of ASCS, FHA and served as chairman of the State of Wyoming Weed and Pest Control Board.
He made each of his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren latch hook rugs and pillows and many beautiful creations made of wood. He taught most of the grandchildren to waterski and fish and took them snowmobiling and ATVing. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Ernie.”
He is survived by his wife, Deloris; son, Kenneth Good and wife, Judy; daughter, Peggy Hawley and husband, Melvin all of Powell; brothers, Irvin Good and wife, Sarah of Casper and Dale Good and wife, Jeanie of Cody; son-in-law, Tom Lynn and brother-in-law, Francis Cossens of Powell; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karat Lynn; and sister, Beulah Fay Cossens.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Crown Hill cemetery. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home of Powell is in charge of the arrangements

Thomas Henry Heal
WHITE SULPHER SPRINGS – Thomas Henry Heal, 62, died Friday, July 28, 2000, at his son’s home from ALS.
Visitation will be held at 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the West Side Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the West Side Methodist Church. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Mayn cemetery. Twichel Funeral Home is in charge.

Jeremiah John Henrie
GLENDO, Wyo.– Funeral services for Jeremiah John Henrie, 20, will be held Monday. July 31, 2000, at 6 p.m. at the Glendo High gymnasium with Pastor Buddy Hanson of the First Southern Baptist Church in Douglas officiating. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Powell with Reverend Ron Kapalka officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Hill cemetery in Powell.
Mr. Henrie died Friday, July 28, at the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City following injuries received in an accident in Montana.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1980, in Buffalo, the son of John P. and Reno L. (Underwood) Henrie. He was reared and educated in Utah, and graduated from Glendo High School in 1998. He attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie for one year. He was employed as a mechanic for Northwinds of Wyoming in Douglas at the time of his death.
He was married to Karen E. Hobbs on April 20, 2000, in Elko, Nev. He enjoyed the mountains, riding horses, working on vehicles, loved his job, spending time with his friends, family, and especially his wife. He always had a smile, more friends than you can count. Everyone was special to him, and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Douglas; his parents, Rena and John of Glendo; two brothers, Joshua of Douglas and Jacob of Glendo; two half-sisters, Paula Carver and Theresa Carver, both of Gillette; mother and father-in-law, Beverly and Randy Hobbs of Glendo; paternal grandfather, Blain Henri. of Helper, Utah; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Maxine Underwood and paternal grandmother, Wanda Hanrie.
A memorial to the Glendo Ambulance Fund in care of Britt Wilson, P.0. Box 404, Glendo, WY 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas and Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home of Powell are in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Henry
LEWISTOWN– Dorothy Lucille Henry, 77, died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, at the Central Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Lewistown City cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.

Louise Mullin
LAMBERT – Mass of Christian Burial for Louise Muffin, 68, Lambert, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2000, at the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Sidney, Mont. with Father Ned Shinnick presiding. Wake service will be 6 p.m. Sunday evening, July 30, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel, Sidney.
Musical selections are provided by Gary Rauschendorfer and Roxy Rees. Reader will be Rick Mullin and the Eulogy will be by Katie Pust. Casketbearers are: Darcy, Darin, & Dawn Muffin, Wendy & Savanna Schulenberg, Wesley and Jayde Torgerson, Ashlie, Alexis, and Aric Mavity, and Troy and Tristan Mullin. Honorary casketbearers are: Katie Pust and all of Louise’s many loving friends and relatives. Ushers are John Prevost and Keith Backes. Interment will be in the Richland Memorial Park, Sidney, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
Louise was born Feb. 5, 1932, to parents, Wayne and Grace (Crouse) Taylor in St. Joseph, Mo. In 1936, she moved to Montana, where her father was employed at the Holly Sugar Factory. At the age of 15, she moved to Lambert. After a brief move back to Sidney, the family returned to Lambert, where she resided the rest of her life. In March of 1949, Louise was united in marriage to Dale Mullin in Sidney. They had four children, Dave, Dale, Dana and Darla.
Louise and Dale farmed five miles north of Lambert. Louise had her grandchildren around her throughout her life and they were the highlight of her life. She enjoyed following all of their school and sport activities. Her springs were occupied with watching the cows having their calves.
Her summers were spent traveling and fishing, where she got one of her many prized possessions, a 25 lb. 42” long Northern Pike, which she caught using an 8 lb. test line. She then had it mounted and it will continue to hang on her wall. Falls and winters were the time to follow her grandchildren’s sports and enjoy her indoor hobbies. She loved her pets, which at various times, ranged from lizards to fish, to birds, to cats to dogs.
She was an excellent cook, house and farmwife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all. She had a very fulfilling life and a close knit family. Her children, family and friends are very proud of the fight and strength she showed for so many years, during her many battles with cancer. She is in God’s hands now, where she is resting peacefully.
Louise died at her home, Thursday, July 27, surrounded by her family. Surviving her are her husband, Dale Mullin of Lambert; two sons, Dave and Merle (Torgerson) Mullin, and Dale & Lisa (Barfield) Muffin, all of Lambert, Mont.; two daughters, Dana (Mullin) & Lloyd Dopp of Sidney and Dana (Mullin) and Ken Hill of Lambert; eleven wonderful grandchildren, Darcy, Darin and Dawn Mullin, Wendy (Torgerson) and Tadd Schulen-berg, Wesley and Jayde Torgerson, Ashlie, Alexis and Aric Mavity, Troy and Tristan Mullin; one great-granddaughter, which was her namesake, Savanna Louise Schulenberg; her mother, Grace Taylor of Williston, N.D.; and a brother, Emmett and Doretta Taylor of Williston.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Taylor; and sister, Betty Jean Rambur.

James Eli Niles
MILES CITY– James Eli Niles, age 38, of Miles City, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2000, in the Yellowstone River as a result of an accidental drowning.
James was born on June 13, 1962, in Forsyth, the son of James George Ewald and Pansy Marie (Eaton) Niles. He attended grade schools in Montana and Illinois, graduating from Custer County High School in Miles City. He then attended Miles Community College and joined the National Guard. James enjoyed playing in the band 1-94.
He then went on to Phoenix and attended the DeVry Institute of Technology for over two years, returning to Miles City in 1993. On April 26, 1997, James and Xina Whitney were united in marriage in Miles City. He continued playing in the local bands, the most recent Rue.Com, he also helped start other bands in the area. Most recently James was working at the Trails Inn Bar as a bartender.
He is survived by his parents, James and Pat Niles of Miles City; his wife, Xina of Miles City; three children, Robert and LeVonne Nemitz of Ismay and their mother, Rita, and Lee Willis of Idaho; a daughter, LaVonne Nemitz of Ismay; four brothers, Michael of Billings; and Sam, David and Chester, all of Miles City; a sister, Lorna of Miles City; grandparents, Alma Feaster of Nye; and Jessie Dyba of Miles City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Monday, July 31, 2000, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the family of Jim Niles or to the charity of ones choice.

Dennis Walter Owens
Our loving son, father, and brother Dennis Walter Owens passed away July 27, 2000, surrounded by his family and loving friend Opal Fuller.
He was born in Billings Dec. 18, 1951, to Don and Bev (Fox) Owens. He began his education at Elysian School and graduated from West High in 1970. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1971, serving in Korea, Germany, and the U.S., and retired after 20 years. He married Golia Lea Barnett in 1975, and from that union was born Jason Allen Owens. They were later divorced.
Dennis enjoyed bowling on the Friday Night Fireside League, helping on Saturday morning Center Lanes handicapped bowling league with special brother Mark and the YARC special dances. He also enjoyed fishing and girl-watching. He was a member of YARC, and the Moose. Dennis’ favorite part of the Bible was the Book of Psalms.
His son, Jason; parents, Don and Bev Owens; sisters, Nancy Jenson, and Amy (Randy) Dangerfield; and brother, Mark Owens survive him. Other family would include nieces, Tracy (Mac) McLaughlin, Kristina (Brent) Dangerfield-Greenlea; nephews, Kerry and Karn Dangerfield; aunts; Pauline (Hank) Steinmetz, Idora Smith, Norma Cunningham, Barb (Kenny) Helfrich, Susie (Lloyd) Ritchie; and uncle, Richard (Becky) Owens. Six great nieces; and numerous great aunts; uncles; and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Gladys Owens, Alex and Frieda Fox, and Aunt Arleen Bailey.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at the Moose Lodge, 171 Calhoun Lane. Memorials may be sent to Yellowstone Assoc. for Retarded Citizens (YARC). 602 18th St. W., Billings, MT.

James G. Todd
HAMILTON– James G. Todd, 75, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at his home.
Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the Mountain View cemetery in Billings.

Patricia C. (Pat) Vanderbeck
NEWPORT, Ore.– Patricia C. (Pat) Vanderbeck, 71, former Billings resident passed away in her sleep on July 11, 2000, at her home in Newport, Ore.
A Navy wife for 34 years, Pat traveled with her family throughout the U.S. and Japan. She moved to Billings in 1970, where her husband Van ran the NJROTC program at Billings West High School. They retired to Newport, Ore. in 1984 where Pat was a ten-year volunteer at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. She led an active social life, was dedicated to her friends, her Bunko Club and was never caught cheating at poker.
Pat was an avid fan of football while her son John was a fullback at Zama High in Zama, Japan. She was a theater buff whose favorite play was “The Adventures of Huck Finn” starring her son Richard. A Connoisseur of music, she enjoyed listening to her favorite band, “Joe Banana and His Bunch” where her son Tom played the spoons And she was a lover of poetry. Her favorite poem being “1 can color but I can’t spell” by her daughter Ann.
Patricia is survived by her husband, E. A. (Van) Vanderbeck of Newport, Ore.; her three sons, John C. Vanderbeck, of Billings, Richard S. Vanderbeck of Chula Vista, Calif., and Major Thomas M. Vanderbeck of Fort Sill, Okla., her daughter Ann C. Bustell of Billings and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Sacred Heart Church, Hwy 101 and 10th St. NW., Newport, OR. 97365-4205.

Mary Sue Jacobsen Wright
KETCHIKAN, Alaska– Longtime Ketchikan resident Mary Sue Wright, 51, died July 21, 2000 in Everett, Wash., after a long fight against cancer.
She was born Mary Sue Jacobsen on Jan. 11, 1949, in Billings. Mary graduated from high school in Worden, Mont., and later received an associate degree in business from the University of Alaska Southeast, Ketchikan campus.
She was married on Dec. 21, 1968, in Worden to Ken Wright. Mary moved to Ketchikan in 1985.
She worked for Ketchikan Public Utilities and was most recently business-office manager for the telephone division.
She was affiliated with South Tongass Alliance Church.
Mary was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Sweet Adelines and on the board of directors for Tongass Federal Credit Union. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and working.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ken Wright of Ketchikan; daughter, Gwen K. Mowrey of Boulder, Colo.; son, John K. Wright, of Everett; mother, Margaret Jacobsen of Billings; and brother, Fred Jacobsen, of Portland, Ore.
A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the Ketchikan Mortuary. The Rev. Mark Zastrow will officiate. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.
The family writes in remembrance of her: “Bverything is waves and stars, the universe resting in her arms.”
The family requests memorial donations be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary cancer fund. Mary will be cremated and her ashes will be spread across Tongass Narrows.
There will be a memorial service for Mary Sue at 10 a.m. Sat. August, 5, at the Worden Open Bible Church in Worden.

Bernice Jean Yonkee
Bernice Jean Yonkee died Friday, July 28, 2000, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was born in Deerbrook, Wis. on Feb. 26, 1926, to Theodore and Alma (Domke) Yonkee. She attended school in rural Deerbrook and graduated from Antigo High School.
She graduated from Stevens Point (Wis.) Teachers College and taught at schools in southern Wisconsin, Miles City, and Turlock and San Jose, Calif. She was a second grade teacher at the Alum Rock School District for 26 years retiring in 1986. In 1997, due to Alzheimer’s disease, she became a resident of St. John’s Lutheran Home and to be near family members.
Surviving Bernice are sisters, Arleen(Byron) Guenthner of Laurel, Mont. and Dorothy Kempinski of Billings; two brothers, Raymond Yonkee of Aniwa, Wis., and LaVerne (Sue) Yonkee of Deerbrook; nieces, Ellen (Carlton) Houston, Sunmervlle, Geo., Melody ( Jim) Hohensee, Antigo, Daisy Knutson. Wausau. Wis., Laura Mae (Joshua) Krause of Merrill, Wis. Nephews, Jeffery (Lori) Guenthner, Billings; Craig Guenthner, Laurel, Ted Yonkee, Aniwa, and five great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2336 St. John’s Avenue in Billings. Interment will be in Antigo at a later date. Donations may be made to an elementary school of your choice to provide school supplies for students who cannot afford pencils, paper and other supplies or to the charity of your choice.

Thomas J. Young
FORSYTH– Thomas John Young, 68, died Weds. July 26, 2000, at the St. Vincent Medical Center in Billings, following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow in the Forsyth Veterans cemetery.

Donald J. Boyd
DICKINSON, N.D. – Donald J. Boyd, 57, of Dickinson, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dickinson, with Rev. Noel T. Vold officiating. Interment will take place at the Dawson County cemetery, Glendive, Mont., at 3 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Donald Boyd was born on March 29, 1943, in Seattle, the son of John and Pauline. As a young child his family moved to Helena, Mont. The Boyds then moved to Glendive where he attended Dawson County High, and met his wife, Leora.
Donald married Leora Pettersen on Aug. 28, 1965, in Glendive. He worked in the oil fields since he was 19, transferring many times until moving his family to Dickinson in 1979. Don worked as a production foreman for Petro Hunt for 19 years.
His interests included golfing, woodworking, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and most of all his family.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Leora of Dickinson; three daughters, Denise (Steve) Meier and son, Chris, Bismarck, Donnette (Troy) Woodbury and children, Tyler and Brooke, Williston, and Dana (Kevin) Schmitcke and children, Brandon and Kristy, Bismarck; one sister, JoAnn (Sid) Parini, Baker, Mont.; one brother, Richard Boyd, Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Westermeyer; and his father, John Boyd.
