Eva Katherine Zeiler
Eva Katherine Zeiler passed away peacefully in her home in Hardin on Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the age of 81.
She was born to Jacob and Katherine Strecker on Feb. 20, 1919, in Billings, where she attended school and lived until moving to Hardin in 1950 when her husband Joe and his cousin Dan bought the Hardin Meat Market which they owned until retiring in 1976.
A lifelong Montanan, Eva is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Zeiler; and three children, Sydney Kaye (David) Reed, Joseph Bradley (Linda) Zeiler and Jacquline Faye (Jim) Ruegamer. Eva will be sorely missed by her husband and children to whom she was not only a talented and loving wife and mother, but also a very dependable and devoted best friend and confidant.
Eva had seven grandchildren, Mathew Zeiler Reed, Justin Flood Reed, Amy Jo Zeiler, Jeffrey Joseph Zeiler, Sascha Kathryn Ruegamer, Trevor Lee Ruegamer and Dain Arryn Ruegamer. Eva also embraced and loved as her daughter, Silva Gschwend (Kurt) Trippel and their son Amedeo, who will never be able to replace Eva’s spirit and warm welcome into her home.
She was part of a large and very close family of 14 brothers and sisters and is survived by three sisters, Lydia Oblender, Molly Agnew and Linda Skeryanc; and by six brothers, Herman, Edward, Raymond, Henry, Emanuel, and Robert.
Eva will also be missed by her many friends. She worked for many years at the Hardin Tribune-Herald and she was well known throughout the community. She was a very active member of the First Congregational Church of Hardin for 50 years; enjoyed 40 years of friendship with members of her bridge club; and was an active supporter of Hardin High School students and activities, especially those of her children and grandchildren. Eva was also known as a avid gardener, and an accomplished cook and hostess who organized numerous family gatherings and reunions.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Monday, July 10, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, in the First Congregational Church with Rev. Bill Tibbs, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, Hardin, MT 59034.

Grace H. Zuelke
MILES CITY – Grace Hazel Zuelke, 65, died on Friday, July 7, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Private family interment will follow at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the Veterans Section of the Custer County cemetery.

Norris G. Bacon
DILLON – Memorial services for Norris G. Bacon were held July 5 at Parkview Acres in Dillon with Rev. Bill Swanson officiating. Graveside services will be at the Nohly cemetery in Nohly, Mont., on July 8, at 11 a.m.

Francisco ‘Frank’ Barragan
On July 5, 2000, at the age of 97, our Dad and Grandfather, Frank Barragan, entered into eternal rest at home with his family at his side. Born June 20, 1903, in Zacoalco De Torrez, Jalisco, Mexico, he was the son of Leandro and Armenejilda Alvarado Tamioso Barragan.
Frank moved from Mexico to the United States in 1926, working his way through Arizona, California, Washington and Utah. He settled in Montana in the late ’30s, working in various communities as a beet laborer and farm hand. Later he ran his own landscaping business here in Billings.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed working in his yard tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He took great pride in the results of his work.
Frank was united in marriage to Gregoria Amaro whom he met in Hysham. Together they raised seven children.
Frank is survived by his children: Manuel (Melody) Barragan, Leandro Barragan, Mary (Larry) Brown, James (Virginia) Barragan, Lupe (Don) Kaiser, all of Billings; grandchildren: Gloria (Tim) McKay, Frankie, Maria, Glory, Anthony, Johnny and Linda Slevira, Tracy Brown, Kodi, Dawn, Kristina and Donny Kaiser, and Kim and Steven Wickham; great-granddaughters: Kaycee and Mrissa. Also surviving are two brothers, Antonio and Adrian Barragan of Guadalajara, Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Gregoria in 1979; son, Frankie Jr. in 1985; daughter Eloisa Slevira in May 2000; two brothers and three sisters.
The family extends a special thanks to Big Sky Hospice and Dr. Paloa Gerbasi for the fine care of’ their father.
Vigil service will be 5 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Due to construction at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral, the Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 521 Custer Ave., on Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to the Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.

Mryna Marcella Davisson Culp
HARDIN – The spirit of Myrna Marcella Davisson Culp passed from this earth on July 5, 2000. Myrna was born to Frank Prader Davisson and Elizabeth Henecke Davisson on Jan. 17, 1902, in Ashland, Ky. The family moved to Montana when she was two years old and she has been a resident of the state since then.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Kenneth and Emmett Davisson and her husbands, Arthur McDonnell and Dave Culp.
Agnes (Syd) McDonnell Parlier, Nolan A. McDonnell, Elizabeth (Bette) McDonnell, Jimmy (Cindy) Culp and David F. Culp remain to mourn the loss of her presence, while celebrating and thanking God for her life. Living grandchildren are James and John Parlier, Christy, Shane, Vaniece and David Culp Jr., Norman, Robert, Tim, Lucy (Clouse) and Mark McDonnell, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She loved flowers and spent her life creating beauty at times and in places where beauty was hard to find with her flowers, art and music.
At her request cremation has taken place in the Bullis-Eastern Montana Crematory. Memorial funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Esther Anne Gali
BROADUS – Esther Anne Gali, 86, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the Powder River Manor.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, at St. David’s Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Valley View cemetery.

Etta Ruth Lewis
Etta Ruth Lewis passed away in Edgewood Vista, July 6, 2000, in Billings. Mrs. Lewis was born to Harry and Marsha Stebbins Dober on Dec. 20, 1909, in Atlas, Ill. She left there with her parents in 1926 and came to Montana. She graduated from Billings Senior in 1927.
She married Harlan V. Le-wis on May 18, 1929, in Red Lodge, where they would go on that date every year as long as they were able. Mr. Lewis passed away in 1992. They celebrated their 50th and 60th anniversaries in Billings with all siblings and many nieces and nephews attending.
Etta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank; and sisters, Marie Yokem and Virginia Latham. Surviving are four sisters: Anne Galpin of Solvang, Calif., Mazie Nicolson of Billings, Hattie Ilao of Helendale, Calif., and Marcia Hughes of Parker Dam, Calif.; and a brother, Harry G. Dober of Carmel, Calif. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, conducted by a nephew, Marion Vokem of Fort Collins, Colo.

Alecia E. Lund
BUFFALO, Wyo. – Alecia E. Lund, 87, died Monday, July 3, 2000 at the Amie Holt Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, at the Harold Jarrard Park Building in Kaycee. Visitation will be held at 1-10 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo and at 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, at the Jarrard Park Building in Kaycee. Interment will be in the Kaycee cemetery. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.

Mildred ‘Midge’ Stephens
CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – Mildred “Midge” Stephens passed away on July 7, 2000, at Sutter Coast Hospital at the age of 93 years. She was born on Jan. 20, 1907, in DuQuoin, Ill. At the age of 3 months she moved to Billings with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ulrich. She was a longtime resident of Billings.
Mrs. Stephens has been residing with her daughter in Crescent City. She was a homemaker and a resident of Crescent City for the last 10 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Stephens Parker of Crescent City; sister, Virginia Troyer of Salem, Ore.; granddaughter, Mrs. Ronnel Stephanik of Crescent City; grandson, Paul Parker of Spokane, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stephens and sisters, Florence Pirty, Helen Crum, and Betty Stow, all of Billings.
Private family services are being held under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City.

Donald L. Stout
LEWISTOWN – Donald L. Stout, 62, died Friday at his home from cancer.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with interment to follow in the Stanford cemetery.

Orville Wold
PLENTYWOOD – Orville Wold, 96, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the Plentywood Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Plentywood cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Cecil Clinton Yates
BRIDGER – Cecil Clinton Yates, 81, of Bridger, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at his home. Cecil, was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Bright Star, Ark., one of five children of Jewell J. and Mary R. Yates. He attended school in Bright Star.
He married Aro I. Cauthorn on Dec. 15, 1945, in Texarkana, Ark. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was discharged as a staff sergeant from the 82nd Field Artillery Battalion. After the war, he worked for Humble Oil in Louisiana and later transferred to the Powell, Wyo., area and then to Bridger, where he retired after more than 30 years service with Exxon.
Cecil enjoyed fishing, hunting and the Chicago Cubs. He loved his family and will be missed by his sons, Ronald C. and wife, Barbara of El Centro, Calif., and Donald W. of Bridger; grandchildren, James and wife, Cara of Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, N.C., Robert C. and Elizabeth A. of El Centro; great grandchildren, Justin J. and Mindy E. of Goldsboro. He is also survived by a brother, Harlan of Texarkana, Texas., and several nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
Cecil was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Louisiana, Cornelius Hedges Chapter No. 43 Order of Eastern Star and Al Bedoo Shrine in Billings. He was preceded in death by Aro, his wife of more than 50 years; one grandson, Charles C. and sisters, Edith, Evelyn, and Lucille.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, at the Methodist Church in Bridger. Interment will be in the Bridger cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Transportation Trust Fund, the Eastern Star Scholarship Fund or charity of choice.
Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Elwin Aaby
Elwin passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on July 6, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital. Elwin was born June 10, 1921, to Anton and Dora Aaby at the family homestead, west of Molt. He served his country during World War II in the European theater and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 20, 1945.
On Dec. 24, 1946, Elwin married his lifelong companion, Frances Rice, in Joliet. To this union there were seven children, 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Elwin provided for his family by working as a farmer/rancher in the Molt area as well as south of Billings. He also worked at Great Western Sugar for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Steve (Darlene) of Bothell Wash., Bill (Chris), Darrell (Margaret), Paul (Liesa), Pete (Angie); his two daughters, Mary Ann (Don) Baxter and Kathy (Tracy) Glenn of Billings. He is also survived by his sisters, Hilga Phillips and Mildred Robuck; and his brother, Dale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clifford, Harry, Maynard; and sisters, Alice, Margaret, Ethel and Doris.
Services will be Saturday, July 8, at Smith Chapel West, at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at the Juliet cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Cedarwood Villa Alzheimers Unit, P.O. Box 430, Red Lodge, MT 59068.

Diamond L. Adams
Diamond L. Adams, 82, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at her son’s home. She was born in Ohio, a daughter of Edwin Wesley and Mary Eula Madison Young. She was raised in Texas and came to Montana in 1974. She has been a longtime resident of South Forty in Billings.
Survivors include her son, Don and his wife, Sandy of Billings; one sister, May Phares of McAllen, Texas; one brother, Bill Young of Dubre, Ky.; a beloved niece, Eddiemae Wagg of Fairfax, Va.; two grandchildren, Jannie Dahl of Fargo, N.D., and Don Adams Jr. of Aurora, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Allie, Stef; and many dear friends who knew her as “Granny” and slept under one of her beautiful quilts, her “blankets of love”.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cremation or Funeral Galley 8th St. W & St. Johns. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Galley. Inurnment will be held later in Texas.

Manson H. Bailey
GLASGOW – Manson Harvey Bailey Jr., 80, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, of heart failure at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on July 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be in Highland cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge.

Frank Francisco Barragan
On July 5, 2000, our dad, grandfather, Frank (Francisco) Barragan entered into eternal rest at his home with his family at his side.

He worked various communities in the beet fields, did farming and had his own landscaping business.

He is survived by his children, Manuel (Melody) Barragan, Leandro Barragan, Mary (Larry) Brown, James (Virginia) Barragan, Lupe (Don) Kaiser, all of Billings; his 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Gloria (Tim) McKay and their children, Casey and Shay; Kim and daughter, Marrisa, Steven Wickham, Karen (Dave) and their children, Dillon, and Derick; Doug Sager, Dave Sager and his children, Nicolas and Marshell; Vicki; Frankie, Maria, Glory, Anthony, Johnny and Linda Slevira; Tracy Brown; Kodi, Dawn, Kristina and Donny Kaiser; his brother, Antonio Barragan and Adrian Barragan of Guadalajara, Mexico; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gregoria in 1979; his daughter, Eloisa Slevira in April of 2000; and son Frankie Jr. in 1985; two brothers and three sisters.
The family extends a special thanks to Big Sky Hospice and Dr. Paloa Gerbasi for the fine care of their father.

Thomas N. Cook
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Thomas N. Cook, 65, died June 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; mother, Cathy Lou Cook; children, Michael Robert and Paula Jan Cook, stepdaughters, Maria Kathleen Carmichael and Eileen Denise Smith.
