Rosa A. Church
HYSHAM – Rosa A. Church, 91, of Hysham, passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.
Rosa was born on a small farm near Richardton, N.D., on Jan. 20, 1909, the daughter of Fred and Helen Wieber Lamm. She grew up and attended schools in the Richardton area.
On Jan. 29, 1927, Rosa married Claude M. Church in Richardton. They came to the Hysham area in 1929 and have lived there since. Rosa dedicated her life to her family. In her earlier years she enjoyed gardening. In her later years she enjoyed visiting with her friends.
She is survived by her six sons and three daughters: Charles (Ethelyn) Church of Melstone, David (Louise) Church of Custer, Jim Church of Lovell, Wyo., Tim (Sandy) Church of Pompey’s Pillar, Ted (Pat) church of Hysham, Leonard (Judy) Church of Fairbanks, Alaska, Pauline (Bill) Pierce of Pompeys Pillar, Dorothy Adams of Hysham and Darlene Hawley of Pocatello, Idaho; 33 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; a son, Jerry; and a daughter, Laura.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hysham with Pastor John Vallie officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Vale cemetery. Beals Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Lydia Diede
Lydia Diede, age 86, of Billings, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Eagle Cliff Manor.
She was born Oct. 8, 1913, at Bremen, Germany, the daughter of John and Marie Catherine Len-hardt Hein. She came to the United States in December 1913, at the age of three months. She and her parents settled at Hastings, Neb., where she was raised and educated. She and her father became U. S. citizens on June 2, 1925, in Hastings. They moved to Billings on Feb. 14, 1931.
Lydia married Jacob “Jake” Diede on Jan. 30, 1933, in Billings where they continued to live.
Lydia enjoyed raising flowers and was very proud of her peonies. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Lydia and Jake had made many camping trips to Yellowstone Park.
Surviving are four daughters: Dolores (Bill) Gebhart of Laurel, Geraldine (Larry) Roberts of Sheridan, Wyo., Elaine (Gary) Kungas of Billings and Eileen (Rich) Jensen of Weiser, Idaho; one brother; Milton Hein of Billings; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in December.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Jake, in 1990, a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Elmer Williamson, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 So. 36th St. Interment will follow at Mountview cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Church.

Maurine E. Schultz-Haas
GLENDIVE – Maurine E. Schultz-Haas, 73, died on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the Bethlehem Mennonite Church in Bloomfield. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Mennonite cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is in charge.

Ada B. Harris
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Ada B. Harris, 82, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, in Westview Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, from Ferries Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sheridan Elks cemetery.

Dorothy Anderson Johnson
HARDIN – Dorothy D. Anderson Johnson, 85, of Hardin, formerly of Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 17, 1915, in Creighton, Neb., a daughter of Otto and Lillie Monson Brandenburg. She was raised by her grandparents in the Lyons, Neb., area where she received her education.
Dorothy worked as a cook and cafÈ owner for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and did some cooking at the 320 Ranch near Big Sky, often cooking for Chet Huntley. She also enjoyed sewing quilts.
She married Edward Anderson on Sept. 8, 1936, in Papillion, Neb., and the couple made their home in Bassett and Euhling, Neb. Mr. Anderson died in 1965. She married Clarence Johnson on Nov. 1, 1976, in Venango, Neb., where the couple made their home before moving to Hardin in 1992.
Dorothy was member of the Lutheran Church, Royal Neighbors, Helping Hands Extension Club and the Big Horn County Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Johnson of Hardin; two sons, Ardell and his wife, Patricia Anderson of Hardin, Jerrald and his wife, Glenda Anderson of Pierce, Neb.; one daughter, Joyce and her husband, K.M. Davis of Weston, Neb.; three stepsons, Mike of Nebraska, Dale of Minnesota and Gary Johnson of Texas; one stepdaughter, Connie Wacker of Nebraska; three half brothers, Bud, Jerry and Donnie Brandenburg of California; one half sister, Ila Mae Brandenburg of California; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held in the Lyons cemetery, Lyons, Neb. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Big Horn County Senior Citizens, Hardin, MT 59034.

Irma Marie Koepp
LOVELL, Wyo. – Irma Marie Koepp, 41, died at University Medical Center in Denver on Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, after a lengthy illness.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Haskell Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lovell. Interment will be in the Lovell cemetery.

John V. McKerlie
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – John V. McKerlie, 77, formerly of Lewistown, Mont., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000.
Visitation was from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, at Haisley Hobbs Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be on Aug. 12 in Bethpage, N.Y. Interment will be at Old Calvary cemetery, Long Island City, N.Y.

Lawrence C. Minckler
GREAT FALLS – Lawrence C. “Larry” Minckler, 85, of 3200 Meadow Wood Lane, a lifelong Montana resident, died of natural causes Tuesday at a local nursing home.
Vigil services are 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy is 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family, with burial in Mount Olivet cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
He was born June 29, 1915, in Chester and graduated from high school there in 1934.
He married Edna Morris Minckler July 23, 1939, in Bynum.
He worked for the state highway department and had a Minneapolis Moline and Hudson car dealership in Cut Bank from 1948-49. After moving to Great Falls in 1954, he worked for Crane & Ordway, Omaha Standard and several other retail businesses.
He coached youth boxing and Little League baseball and was instrumental in setting up the eastside Little League baseball fields.
He was past president of the Jaycees in Cut Bank and in 1946 received their Outstanding Person award for his work with local youth. He was a member of the Elks Club in Cut Bank and Great Falls, Knights of Columbus and Holy Family Catholic Church.
He enjoyed sports, especially Notre Dame and the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include his wife of Great Falls; three daughters, Linda Vosberg and Betty Soltesz of Great Falls and Wanda Diffley of South Bend, Ind.; two sons, James Minckler of Missoula and Thomas Minckler of Billings; a sister, Tess Olson of Helena; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Carl Prestfeldt
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Carl Prestfeldt, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in Phoenix.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, from Ferries Funeral Home. Interment of cremains will follow in Sheridan Elks cemetery.

Ray Webber
FRANNIE, Wyo. – Ray Webber, 88, died in the Powell Nursing Home on Aug. 8, 2000.
Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 12, at the Deaver Methodist Church in Deaver. Interment will follow in Deaver cemetery.

Ethel Basse
HARDIN – Ethel E. Basse, 96, of Hardin, formerly of Denver, passed away, Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at her home in the Heritage Acres Retirement Manor.
She was born Dec. 29, 1903, in El Dorado, Ark., the daughter of Lovic P. and Minnie Cheney McGee.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Cameron Basse, on May 20, 1984.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Jack) Westwood of Hardin; her grandchildren, Tory (Tim) Zimmerman of Billings, Beth (John) Mehling, Cameron (Hiede) Westwood of Hardin, and Richard (Karen) Westwood of Claremore, Okla.; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth (Mel) Bailey of California and Vella I. Johnson of North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at the Hampden Memorial Gardens, Denver. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Rumina Bondurant
BREMERTON, Wash. – Rumina Elizabeth Bondurant, 84, formerly of Rapelje, Mont., died Aug. 3, 2000, at Forest Ridge Convalescent.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Montesano Baptist Church, Montesano, Wash. Inurnment will be at the Rapelje cemetery with a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sept. 16. Lewis Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Major E. Bradley
Major E. Bradley, 63, of the Rockvale area, passed away Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born June 8, 1937, in Reed Point, third child of James and Ruth Nutting Bradley. Major spent his entire life in Montana and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He always had a smile for everyone he met. He will be in our hearts forever. There wasn’t a year that went by that he wasn’t hunting on the mountain and enjoying a great zest for life.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Timothy and William and their wives; four grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, William.
Memorial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Laurel Baptist Church, 2920 Outfitter Trail, East Laurel Hill. Cremation has taken place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

HYSHAM – Rosa A. Church, 91, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Hysham cemetery. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is in charge.

Leo K. Curley
MALTA – Leo K. Curley, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at the Phillips County Hospital of natural causes.
Public visiting will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Adams Memorial Chapel until 8 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Adams Memorial Chapel with interment of the cremated remains in the Malta cemetery.

Kathe K. Dreger
GLASGOW – Kathe Karoline Dreger, 92, died Aug. 8, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be at Bell Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11. Interment will be in Highland cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge.
