Marcia Ruegamer Jacques
Marcia Ruegamer Jacques, 61 of Billings, died of heart failure, Saturday, July 29, 2000.
The daughter of Howard Marcia Ruegamer Jacques and Helen Ruegamer, Marcia was born March 21, 1939, in Fargo, N.D.
She spent her last year where she wanted to be, “Home.”
Survivors include her husband, Jim Jacques; three children, Sheri Thomas, Teresa Aichele and Larry Michael; four grandchildren, Chris, Sharisse, Heather and Lance; and two brothers, Vince and Bill Ruegamer.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary. Private interment will be at Mountview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Montana Rescue Mission or the American Heart Association.

Ruth Lahti
RED LODGE – Ruth Lahti passed away on July 29, 2000. Ruth was born in Billings on May 26, 1923, to Harry and Esther Roe. Ruth was raised in Billings attending Broadwater School and then Senior High School. In 1941, she married John Boender. They had two children together; Patricia, and Daniel. In 1960, Ruth married Erne Lahti of Red Lodge. They were devoted to each other and very much in love. Erne died in 1994.
Ruth was an active member of the community. She was a hostess for the Montana Room at the Festival of Nations for many years. She also wrote the words to the Festival of Nations song. Ruth delivered Meals on Wheels to many homes in Red Lodge. She was a bus driver who drove for the schools and for the filming of the movie “Little Big Man.” She was a member of the Venus Chapter 15, of the Order of Eastern Star and the DOES, both in Red Lodge. She and Erne enjoyed square dancing and driving the Beartooth Highway.
Ruth is survived by her son, Daniel (Joanie) Boender of Huntley; her son-in-law, Gordon Mohr; her sister, Wilma Giesick; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and her friend John Swanson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Mohr and her beloved husband, Erne.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 4, at the Red Lodge Baptist Church. Her ashes will be scattered on the Beartooth Highway. Memorials may be made to Cedarwood Villa in Red Lodge. Arrangements are being made by Dahl Funeral Chapel, Red Lodge.

Loretta Fae Buck Lynch
Loretta Fae Buck Lynch, 61, passed on to a beautiful new beginning on July 30, 2000. She was diagnosed with liver cancer on Friday and the Lord took her quickly.
Loretta was born in Kalispell, Mont., on July 19, 1939, to Howard and Beulah (Chapman) Buck. She attended schools in Kalispell and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1957. She attended business school in Billings where she met Dennis Lynch and they were married in June of 1959. She was active in many civic organizations which included Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Billings Studio Theater and several bridge clubs. She served as a School District librarian during the ’70s and ’80s. She enjoyed volunteering her time and was a generous supporter of many causes. She loved her family and was instrumental in organizing many family reunions.
She is survived by her loving husband Denny, of the family home; her mother Beulah Buck of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Barbara Michalson (Mick) of Des Moines, Wash., and Mary Murphy (Mike) of San Diego, Calif., and a brother, Keith Buck of Bellevue, Wash. She had five beautiful children, Lennis Jaycock of Billings, Leigh Ann Bandet (Henry) of Palo Alto, Calif., Rhonda Romero (Rick) of Billings, Leonard Lynch (Charlene) of Spanaway, Wash., Randy Lynch (Kira) of Billings. She also is survived by 10 (almost 11) grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Howard and her brother Howard, Jr.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Bernard’s Church in Billings. A reception is following in the church basement. A memorial fund has been set up to benefit the Special K Ranch and the American Cancer Society in Loretta’s name at First Interstate Bank of Billings. Her unique ability to reach and touch people’s hearts made her a dear friend to many.

Ester Adeline Lawrence
GLASGOW – Ester Adeline Lawrence, 95, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2000, of natural causes at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Opheim Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Koonz officiating. Burial will be in the Lawndale cemetery in Opheim. Bell Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Donald Thomas ‘D.T.’ McGann
COLUMBUS – Donald Thomas “D.T.” McGann, 94, of Columbus, passed away July 30, 2000, at Beartooth Manor in Columbus, Mont., of natural causes. D.T. was born at Jardine, Mont., on July 24, 1906, to John and Cecilia McGann. He spent his early years trapping and working in the Beartooth Mountains. He then worked for the Yellowstone Park Co.
He married Lillian T. Abbey on Aug. 4, 1925, at Gardner, Mont.
D.T. then started working at various mines in Montana and Idaho. In 1962, they moved to Columbus and D.T. worked for the Columbus Schools as custodian and retired in 1984 at the age of 78 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Audrey (Bob) Waldo of Columbus, Mont.; grandchildren, Linda and Gary Scriven, Debbie and Bert Langshaw, Rick and Laurie McGann, all of Washington state, Tom and Vannesa McGann, Terrie and Steve Budgett of Arizona, Tim and Stella McGann of California, Lori Reimer of Columbus, and Nancy and Dan Pickett of Alaska; 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Bobbie Nelson of Billings, Mont.
D.T. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian; two sons, Donald E. (Bud) and Harold J. (Punk); one great-grandson, Troy Langshaw; four brothers and one sister.
D.T. was a master craftsman, loved hunting and fishing, playing cards and was known for his boisterous laugh and good nature. He loved his family and will be missed.
Memorial donations may be made to the Columbus High School Scholarship Fund, 433 N. Third St., Columbus, MT 59019, or charity of choice.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Mountainview cemetery, Columbus.
Smith Funeral Chapel-Columbus was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel McMahand
BUFFALO, Wyo. – Hazel McMahand, 72, passed away at her home south of Buffalo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo with Reverend Danny Francis officiating. Interment will be in the Wheatland, Wyo. cemetery at a later date. Adams Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

John J. Payne
OSWEGO – John J. Payne, 44, passed away July 29, 2000, of complications of heart disease.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the Oswego Community Hall with Pastor Danny Lindsay officiating, followed by burial at the Oswego Presbyterian cemetery. A wake will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Oswego Community Hall. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert ‘Hardtimes’ Rogers
BROADUS – Delbert “Hardtimes” Rogers, 75, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2000, at his home in Broadus.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Interment will be held at a later date.

Carol Wood Saunders
Carol Wood Saunders, a long time resident of Billings, who was born in St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 8, 1914, died Friday, July 28, 2000.
Survivors include her brother Harold Saunders and two nieces, Christina Squire and Patricia Carpenter.
She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Carol served overseas in the American Red Cross during WWII in England, France and Germany. She was a member of the faculty of Montana State University -Billings from 1958 until her retirement in 1985. Carol had a unique gift of living life, and was a lover of the fine arts which she shared with young and old alike.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.
Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

James A. Clause
James A. Clause, 62, of Billings, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital after a short illness.
Cremation will take place. At his request, no services are planned. Cremation or Funeral Gallery was in charge.

Mabel G. Crane
PASADENA, Calif. – Mabel Gertrude Crane, 98, formerly of Greybull, Wyo., died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at home in Pasadena.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside cemetery in Greybull. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge.

Adeline E. Dalke
POWELL, Wyo. – Adeline E. Dalke, 70, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Powell Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with burial in Crown Hill cemetery.

Luther ‘Luke’ Edlund
MILES CITY – Luther “Luke” Wilford Edlund, 90, died on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Hospital.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery.

Nancy M. Hagadone
POPLAR – Nancy May “Tootie” Reid Hagadone died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Northeast Montana Health Services Facility in Poplar.
The last surviving child of Robert and Mary Margaret “Mamie” Colgan Reid. Nancy was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 30, 1916, at the Reid Ranch on Chelsea Creek. Being a preemie, Tootie was kept behind the wood stove all winter. The cowboys did not think she would keep until spring.
Nancy graduated from Poplar High School in May 1935. She married Dugald “Duke” Hagadone, Jr. on May 8, 1942, at Our Lady of Lourdes Rectory in Poplar. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with many family members and friends on May 23, 1992.
Tootie lived in the Poplar area her entire life except for a few months when she journeyed via the train to Denver with infant son, Bob, to be with Duke while he was training at Lowry Air Force Base. She remembers Christmas dinner that year was a turkey sandwich on the base, but Tootie didn’t mind, she was glad to be with her family.
Tootie and Duke purchased the “Ranch” on Chelsea Creek in 1962. From 1966 to 1971, while Bob and Tom were serving in the Navy in Vietnam, she spent hours each day at the typewriter keeping the boys informed of what was happening on the ranch. Nancy was happy to be back at the “Ranch” where she continued to live until entering the Poplar Nursing Home in March of 2000. Tootie enjoyed helping Duke whether it was farming or feeding their Black Angus cattle. Lunches and hot meals were regularly taken to the harvest field until Duke retired.
Nancy spent many hours coordinating Roosevelt County’s “Treasure Years” published for the Centennial in 1976. Nancy also enjoyed helping with Poplar all school reunions never missing one.
Nancy and her mother were charter members of the Wild Rose Extension Club. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. Nancy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making cookies, traveling and visiting family and friends. For years prior to entering the nursing home, she visited it faithfully on a weekly basis. Tootie cooked Thanksgiving dinners, a Reid tradition, from 1944 to 1997. She started doing genealogy research on the Reid and Hagadone families back in the 1960s.
Survived by three children, Robert Dugald (Beth) and Thomas Lawrence (Bernadine), both of Poplar, and Peggy Jeanne (Don) Sillivan of Worland, Wyo.; grandchildren, Geoffrey Hagadone, Susan (Josh) Twichel, Donnette, Sr. Airman Kimberly Sillivan and step-grandson Robert Hoffman; great grandchildren, Robert (RJ) Twichel and Emily Hagadone; brother-in-law, Clifford (Nora) Hagadone; sisters-in-law, Mabel Reid, Lauretta Reid, Ruby Hagadone and AliceBrown; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, John Colgan and Barlow (Della) Colgan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; baby sister, Agnes; brothers, Francis “Buster”, James Maxwell “Mack” and Thomas Patrick Reid; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces; as well as her husband, Duke on August 2. 1999.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar with Rosary. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Scheider officiating. Interment will be in the Poplar City cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or one of your own choosing. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Hugh Hamilton
Hugh Hamilton, 92, of Billings, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000. Hugh was born Dec. 12, 1907, in Red Cloud, Neb., to Wilbur and Martha Fer-guson Hamil-ton. He was raised in Red Cloud and on Nov. 2, 1929, married Faye Saladen. They had one son, Jerry.
In May 1938 they moved to Rapelje, Mont., where Hugh worked for Bradbrook Lumber Company. The family moved again in December 1946 to Hysham. Hugh was a partner in the Treasure Lumber and Hardware there until his retirement in 1970. Hugh was a member of the Hysham Community Presbyterian Church and the Forsyth Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Hugh was also an avid bridge player.
Faye, Hugh’s wife, died in 1973 and on Sept. 20, 1974, he married Leota Isaac Mariner. They lived in Hugh’s home in Hysham until 1996. At that time they moved to Westpark Village in Billings where they lived until Hugh’s death.
He is survived by his wife, Leota; his son Jerry of Newnan, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Irvona Mariner of Richland, Wash., and Terre Tillitt of Kemmerer, Wyo.; two sisters, Alline McBroom and Mary Horton of Superior, Neb.; two brothers, Gordon Hamilton of Toledo, Ohio, and John Hamilton of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Westpark Village at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, and at the Hysham Community Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2. Interment will be private at the Hysham Memorial Vale cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, Mont., 59107. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family.
