Rebecca Ann Gonzales
FORT WORTH, Texas – Rebecca Ann Gonzales, 36, a certified nurse’s aide for Autumn Years Nursing Center, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at her residence.
Rebecca Ann Gonzalez was born May 13, 1964, in Fort Eustice, Va. Rebecca graduated from Huntley Project High School in Worden, Mont. She then joined the Job Corps for three years and then served two years in the United States Army. Rebecca worked at nursing homes in Billings; Hampton, Va., and in Fort Worth. Rebecca liked to ride horses and fish, but what she enjoyed most was being with friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anastacio Ybarra Gonzalez and her grandfather, Lupe Gonzalez Sr.
Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth Brown; brothers, Michael of Albuquerque, N.M., Steven Gonzalez of Fort Worth; sister, Debbie Case of Hampton, Va.; her grandmother, Marcella Gonzalez of Huntley, Mont., and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Ballantine, Mont. Interment of cremains will be in the Huntley cemetery.

Nora M. McDonald
Nora M. McDonald died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Harwood, N.D., to Hans and Anna Storm Hanson. She attended North Dakota State University in Fargo.
Nora married John McDonald in 1946 at Fargo and they moved to Montana in 1947. Her husband later became associated with the Western Livestock Reporter; he passed away in 1999.
She was a homemaker and loving mother who was very supportive of her family. She also was a benefactor to many local charities especially Habitat for Humanity.
Nora is survived by son, Jim of Missoula; daughter, Kathy (Rob) Buckles of Bozeman; son, Tom (Connie) of Billings; three granddaughters, Stefanie Ans of Billings, Heather Watterson of Germany, Meridith McDonald of Missoula; and two great-grandsons, Isaiah and Micah Ans.
Honoring Nora’s wishes, cremation will take place and the family will hold a private prayer service. Inurnment beside her husband, John, will be in the Absarokee Beartooth Columbarium located in the Gallery. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Leo Moscardini
Leo Robert Moscardini, 83, of Tampa, Fla., died Sept. 12, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital following a short illness while in Billings visiting family.
An open house was held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pat Burtchaell home, 1020 Princeton Ave., Billings.

Fridolin ‘Fritz’ Muggli
CLYDE PARK – Fridolin Anton “Fritz” Muggli, 80, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at the Frontier Care Center of cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Graveside committal and interment will be in Calvary cemetery.

Barbara Y. Radons
PLENTYWOOD – Barbara Yung Radons, 93, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church with burial in the Outlook cemetery.

James M. Robinson Jr.
DUNMORE – James M. Robinson Jr., 68, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at the Crow Cheyenne Hospital in Crow Agency.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Boys and Girls Club in Lame Deer with burial in the Robinson Family cemetery near Lame Deer. Rausch Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas L. Ward
HYSHAM – Thomas L. Ward, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Hysham Community Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place. Interment of the urn will follow at Hysham cemetery. Beals Mortuary is in charge.

Alvin ‘Al’ Copeland
TOWNSEND – Alvin “Al” LRoy Copeland, 72, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Connors Funeral Home is in charge.

Lonne B. Faanes
WORLAND, Wyo. – Lonne B. Faanes, 55, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in Big Horn County of a heart attack.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge.

Rev. John Alphonsus Hanrahan
GREAT FALLS – John Alphonsus Hanrahan, son of William Hanrahan and Bridget McGrath, was born in Grangemockler, County Tipperary, Ireland, on Aug. 14, 1920. He received both elementary and high school education at Stoneyford, County Kilkenny.
In 1934, he began college at Rockwell, and completed his seminary training in Saint Patrick's College, Thurles, County Tipperary. John was ordained for the Diocese of Great Falls by the Most Reverend Jeremias Kinkane, archbishop of Cashel, on the 6th of June 1946, in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Thurles.
Father Hanrahan's first assignment was as assistant pastor at Holy Family Parish in Great Falls. In addition to his parochial duties, he also attended the College of Great Falls, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in September, 1948. He then went to Sacred Heart Parish in Miles City where he remained six years as an assistant and was also on the staff at Sacred Heart High School.
In July of 1954, he became the pastor of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Baker. After serving Saint John's for 13 years he was transferred in 1964 to Forsyth as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish. He was there only one year before being asked to become the pastor of Saint Leo's Parish in Lewistown. During this time he served as dean of the Great Falls Vicariate. Later he was appointed to the Montana Catholic Conference, a position he held for 10 years.
In the fall of 1975 he attended a three-month CPE chaplaincy-training program at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. When he had completed the course he was appointed director of pastoral care at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls. In 1986 he returned to parish care as pastor of Holy Family Parish in Great Falls.
He retired in 1989 and entered into Team Ministry at the International Shrine of Our Lady of Knock in County Mayo, Ireland. In 1994 he returned to Great Falls to retire in the Stites Memorial Home.
As a member of the Diocesan Presbyterate he was elected to the first Priests' Senate, to the Priests' Personnel Board and to the Clerical Benefit Association. He also served as a member of the Diocesan Matrimonial Tribunal.
Survivors include five brothers, Fr. Nole, Seamus and Michael in Ireland and Richard and Patrick in England; and two sisters, Breda and Joan, both in Ireland.
The funeral Vigil will be held at St. Ann Cathedral in Great Falls on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will also be held at St. Ann Cathedral on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at 11 a.m. with a reception following at Sts. Peter and Paul Church Hall. O'Connor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James E. Hill
James E. Hill, 64, of Billings, formerly of Nashua, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Hospital of heart complications.
James was born June 25, 1936 in Glasgow, the son of Harry and Gertrude Hill. He was raised in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1954. Jim excelled in all sports; he was especially known for playing basketball and was an all-star center.
Jim married Gayle Browning in 1955. He worked for his dad at the Nashua Conoco until 1961, when he purchased the service station from his dad. Jim served in the Montana National Guard, on the Nashua Town Council, and Volunteer Fire Department. Jim drove school bus and was Little League coach for many years.
Jim and Gayle moved to Billings in 1986. He was employed by TireRama until he retired in 1998. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and attending sporting events.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gayle of Billings; two daughters, Lori Viste and her husband Rick and their children, Tyler and Kyle of Nashua, and Charlene Hill and her son Brandon of Billings; three sons: Doug Hill and his wife Jill and their children, Tori and Tessa of Sidney; Brian Hill and his wife Belinda and their son, Drew of Bozeman; Tom Hill and his wife Dawn and their children, Miranda and Grant of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Jack Hill and his wife Pat of Denver; and a sister Mary Jean Johnson and her husband Bob of Sioux Pass, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Stuart.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Nashua, with Rev. Greg Staudinger officiating. Burial will be in the Nashua cemetery. Bell Mortuary Is in charge of arrangements.

Alice E. Kurkoski
Alice E. Kurkoski, 84, of Billings passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Laurel Evergreen Health & Rehab Center. She was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Larson, N.D., the daughter of Nels and Grace Olson Gunderson. She was educated in Larson and went to beauty school in Bismarck, N.D.
On Nov. 26, 1941, she married Theodore Kurkoski in Glendive and lived in Beach, N.D., in 1941-43, and Bismarck 1943-47, before moving to Billings.
Survivors include one son, Noel (Marcie) Kurkoski of Laurel; a daughter, Merrylee (Larry) Vukonich of Joliet; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Nasvik of Aberdeen, S.D., and Bertha Jones of Minot, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
Alice was a charter member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Funeral service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wicks and Lake Elmo. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Leo Mascardini
Leo Robert Mascardini, 83, of Tampa, Fla., died Sept. 12, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital following a short illness while in Billings visiting family.
An open house will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pat Burtchaell home, 1020 Princeton Ave., Billings.

Erwin ‘Ernie’ Miller
MILES CITY – Erwin “Ernie” Miller, 55, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Holy Rosary Health Center.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, and services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, both at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the family lot of the Richey cemetery in Richey.

Harry E. Olson
BEACH, N.D. – Harry E. Olson, 87, of Beach, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in Bismarck.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sentinel Butte with burial in the Sentinel Butte cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is in charge.

Lila K. Price
SAVAGE – Funeral services for Lila K. Price, 79, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at the First Lutheran Church of Savage, with interment in the Riverview cemetery, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foundation for Community Care or donation to individual’s choice.
Lila died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, surrounded by her family, at the Sidney Health Center-Extended Care Facility.
Lila is survived by her husband Don of Savage; sons, Sheryll (Dorothy) Price of Glendive, Jerry (Kay) Price of Dickinson, N.D., Don (Linda) Price of Bismarck, N.D., Arlen (Lonnie) Price and a daughter, Vernette (Ron) Barone, both of Sidney; a brother, Vernon (Kitty) Wilson of Savage; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Virginia May Snook
Virginia May Snook, longtime resident and friend of Billings, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at 89 years of age. The only child of Earl and Eleanora Snook, Virginia was born on June 6, 1911, in Billings.
Earl Snook started the Snook Art Company in the early 1900s and Virginia continued to carry on the legacy.
Growing up around paints and famous artists of the Billings area, art became Virginia’s true love.
Graduating from Billings High School in 1929, she went on to the school of art in Seattle. She then furthered her art education traveling with Hermine Roberts through Mexico. These times filled her life with many wonderful memories, which transferred into stories she loved to share.
When Virginia returned to Billings in the late ’30s, she continued to enjoyed art while working in the family store where she met many of the colorful people of Billings and the surrounding areas.
Virginia decided to share her family collection with the people of Montana and donated many valuable local artists’ pieces to the Yellowstone Art Museum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Eleanora, friends and her beloved cats.
Survivors include several cousins and many close friends.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept 18, at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountview cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yellowstone Art Museum, 401 N. 27th St. or Big Sky Hospice, P. O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.
