Rosie Strecker
RIVERTON, Wyo. – Rosie Strecker, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Private family services were held Thursday at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings.

Eva Taylor
LOVELL, Wyo. – Eva Taylor, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell after a long illness.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Billings. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge.

Mildred B. Trask
TERRY – Mildred B. Trask, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, of leukemia.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, both at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the family lot of Prairie County cemetery.

Linda J. Krieger
Linda Krieger, 51, passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept. 12, 2000, after a short but courageous bout with cancer.
Linda was a lady full of love and laughter who touched all that knew her. As the daughter of a pastor, Linda came to know and love the Lord with all her heart. She was an active member of Hope Evangelical Church. She was able to pass her love for the Lord on through her tremendous ability to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed vacationing and traveling with her family and spending weekends with her husband, Nolan, at their cabin in Nye.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Nolan; two sons, Adam and his wife Kerista, and Brian and his wife Kris; two granddaughters, Brianna and Brooke; her father, Rev. Kent Swift, and mother, Joanne Swift; a brother Tom Swift and sister, Kathy Jones. Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Swift.
The loss of Linda will leave an empty hole in our hearts but we know she will be watching over us. Memorials may be sent to Hope Evangelical Church, 5554 Grand Ave., Billings, Mont., 59102.
Visitations will begin Thursday evening at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. W. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Hope Evangelical Church with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy V. Mason
MOORE – Dorothy V. (Barta) Mason, 72, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Creel Funeral Chapel with burial at the Moore cemetery.

Jim Minow
SIDNEY – Jim Minow, 67, of Sidney, and the Squaw Gap, N.D., area, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in a one-vehicle accident near Stanley, N.D.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the hall at Squaw Gap. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Squaw Gap Community Hall in North Dakota with burial in Sunnyside cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge.

Harold Leo Peck
RAWLINS, Wyo. – Native Montanan Harold Leo Peck died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins. Harold was 83.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1916, at the family homestead in Baker, Mont. Harold was the son of W.W. and Mary (Spriggs) Peck.
Harold met his wife while working as assistant manager under his future father-in-law, J.C. Swindal, at the Red Owl store in Baker. He and Bonnie (Swindal) Peck were married on Jan. 9, 1944, in Spokane, Wash. Harold was stationed there with the U.S. Marine Corps at the time and Bonnie was working as a legal secretary. Mr. Peck served with the Marines in the South Pacific before being stationed in Spokane.
After Harold left the service, he ranched briefly while working for Prudential Insurance. He then went on in a long career as a pharmaceutical representative for McKesson & Robbins of Billings. Harold and his family lived in various Montana communities as well as in Sheridan for almost 20 years. At the time of his retirement from McKesson, he was living in Billing. He continued to live in Billings until recently when he went to live with his daughters in Rawlins and Roswell, Ga.
Mr. Peck was life member of BPO Elks #520 of Sheridan and American Legion Post No. 4 of Billings. He was a former member of the First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ in Sheridan.
Survivors are daughters Sonya Caldwell and her husband Rick of Rawlins, and Linda Steen and her husband Robert of Roswell. Mr. Peck is also survived by his grandchildren Kacy and Will Caldwell of Rawlins, Brett Steen and his wife Dana Jonson of Brighton, Mass., and Lara Steen and her fiancee John White of N. Andover, Mass.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Chapels of Billlings with services planned for Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. at Smith West Chapel at 304 34th W. in Billings. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Harold may be made to the American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Lila K. Price
SAVAGE – Lila K. Price, 79, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care Facility.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Savage with burial in Riverview cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge.

Leah Seader
WILLISTON, N.D. – Leah Seader, 86, of Williston, formerly of Fairview, Mont., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairview, with Pastor Kent Stenzel officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home in Sidney.

David J. Smith
POPLAR – David Jordan Smith, 82, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Visitations will be held Friday at First Presbyterian Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with interment in the Poplar City cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Ernest Taylor Sparks
BAKER – Ernest Taylor Sparks was born on April 23, 1918, at the Sparks homestead on Lame Jones Creek. He was the fourth of eight children born to George Washington and Bernetta Alma Berry Sparks.
Ernest attended Lame Jones Elementary School through the eighth grade; he attended Baker High School and Billings Polytechnic School. On Feb. 25, 1941, Ernest volunteered to the United States Army where he served with the 163rd Infantry. He spent three and one half years overseas in the Pacific Theater serving as a demolitions expert during World War II. During this time, Ernest was awarded the Presidential Citation, two Spear Heads, four Battle Stars and Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 4, 1945.
Upon returning to Montana, Ernest worked several ranches in southwestern Fallon County. Most of those years were spent working on the Monroe Ranch. Later he purchased the Herbst place, established a fine herd of cattle and a few saddle horses. He proudly branded them with the F brand. In addition to his ranching career, and a love for hunting, Ernest provided the necessary care for his mother Bernetta Sparks. He was a selfless man, giving generously his time and monetary contributions toward many youth organizations, particularly 4-H.
Failing health forced Ernest to retire from ranching in 1989. He had resided at the Veterans Administration Home Care Unit at Miles City until his death on Sept. 11, 2000.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Sparks and Bernetta Alma Berry Sparks, four brothers and three sisters. Another chapter was closed in the Sparks family history book with the passing of Ernest T. Sparks.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with Milton Hochalter officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of the Lame Jones cemetery with military honors. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.

Delbert ‘Trip’ Triplett
LANSFORD, N.D. – Delbert Dale “Trip” Triplett, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at his home of cancer.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Anderson Nelson Funeral Home in Mohall. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall with burial in the Grano cemetery in rural Lansford.

Frances Walton
WOLF POINT – Frances Louise Vaughters Walton, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Faith Lutheran Home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Home with graveside committal services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Evergreen cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho. Clayton Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point and English Funeral Home of Post Falls are in charge.

Jean Woitkielewicz
MILES CITY – Jean Catherine Woitkielewicz, 79, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Vigil services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rite of Committal in the family lot of Calvary cemetery.

Theodore ‘Ted’ Bjerkreim
GLENDIVE – Theodore “Ted” Bjerkreim, age 77, of Glendive, passed away of acute leukemia on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in Great Falls at the home of his daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Paul Everett and Lay Pastoral Associate Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Sivernale-Silha Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Ted was born on Nov. 25, 1922, in Glendive, the son of Torleif and Bertra Marie (Steen) Bjerkreim.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Margit of Glendive; three daughters, Ann Powers and her husband Larry of Great Falls, June Raymond and her husband Curt of Great Falls and Helen Schmitz and her husband Ed of Bozeman; one son, Tom Bjerkreim and his wife Kathy of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Anderson and her husband Robert L. of Billings and Betty Downs and her husband Jack of Lindsay, Mont.; one brother, Andy Highland and his wife Sue of Littleton, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
Because of Ted’s special interest in helping children in the area, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Travis Leo Milligan
Travis Leo Milligan passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000. He was born June 19, 1916, in Randlett, Okla., to James Thomas Milligan and Cora Pearl Davidson Milligan. He was the youngest of nine children. Travis was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters. Frank, two years his senior, lives in Bakersfield, Calif.
After high school, he joined the Army for two years, after which he joined the Marine Corps. When World War II erupted, he was training boots at 29 Palms, the Marine Corps base in Southern California. He spent six years in the Marine Corps, two overseas in the Pacific Theater.
After World War II, he became employed by Halliburton Services, transferring to the Rocky Mountain area. There he met and married Eileen Lowe on Sept. 21, 1947. After spending 22 years in various areas in the Rocky Mountain region, he retired in 1969 and came to Billings and purchased the Lewis & Clark Motel. He and Eileen managed that for several years. After retiring the second time, he and Eileen traveled all over the United States.
Four children had the pleasure of calling Travis “Dad”: Charles Allen (Peggy) Milligan of Golden, Colo., Kathleen Milligan-Hitt of Sheridan, Wyo., Kim P. Kunkler (Wayne) of Laurel, and Shari L. Milligan of Billings. He and Eileen resided with Shari at the time of his death.
Travis’ pride and joy was his family above anything else he accomplished in his life. He has 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Billings East LDS Stake Center, 1640 Broadmoor Drive. Interment will follow the services at Terrace Gardens cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be sent to Big Sky Hospice, P.O Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.
