Roy Hudson
HELENA – Roy Hudson of Helena passed away suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000. He was born May 20, 1919, at Vancouver, B. C. Canada to George Phillip Hudson and Elsie Swinnerton Hudson. His father died when he was three months old and he was reared by his mother and step-father, Clarence Hudson.
He was married for sixty years and three days to his childhood sweetheart, Eileen Stark whom he had known since they were eight years old. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the First Special Service Force; the first ever international fighting unit. Following the war, he moved his family to Helena from Vancouver, B. C. where he and his wife owned an operated Hudson Furniture. For several years he and Eileen split their time between their homes in Helena and Sun City, Ariz. and although officially retired he never quit working on his several other business interests and community projects.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father and a sister, Phyllis Jones. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Rigby of British Columbia, his wife, Eileen and three children, Gerry and wife Jane Hudson of Billings, Jim and wife Kris Hudson of Bellevue, Wash. and Marilyn Hudson and companion Bob Maxwell of Helena. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.13 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Helena. Family requests the in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the First Special Service Force Memorial Fund, 624 Benton Ave., Helena, MT 59601; the Montana Military Museum, P.O. Box 125, Ft. Harrison, MT 59636, or the Algeria Shrine Transportation Fund P.O. Box 1174, Helena, MT 59624-1174.

Edwin J. Kuntz
CUSTER – Edwin J. Kuntz, 74, of Custer, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born in Billings, on May 3, 1926, a son of Ernest and Mary Stief McVicker. He was later adopted by his stepfather, Adam Kuntz.
He started his education in Billings and soon moved to Custer, where he graduated, in 1944, from Custer High School. In June 1944, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and trained as a gunner on a B17. While on furlough, Dec. 11, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret “Peg” Quest.
Following his discharge he returned to Custer to farm and raise his family. He farmed for over 50 years in the Custer area, where he was joined by his son, Cody and grandson, Chad, raising primarily sugar beets and malt barley.
Edwin became a director on Mountain States Beet Growers Association of Montana and served over 35 years on that board. Many years he served as secretary treasurer, and for the last 10 years was president. He was also on the board of directors of the American Sugar Beet Growers Association in Washington D.C.
Always a loyal supporter of the Custer community, Edwin served as vice president of the Waco-Custer Ditch Co., vice president of the Custer cemetery Board, served on the Custer School Board and was a charter member of Post 111 of the American Legion where he served many years as adjutant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Will Arvik.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peg of Custer; a daughter, Belva (Harold) Arvik at Hysham; two sons, Rick (Gail) of Dillon, and Cody (Susan) of Pompeys Pillar. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Susan (Mitch) Gallo of Miles City, Chad (Erika) Kuntz of Pompeys Pillar, Beau (Susan) Kuntz of Billings, Hilary Kuntz of Bozeman, Alissa Kuntz of Missoula, Tami Jo Arvik of Hysham, Jenna Kuntz of Pompeys Pillar, Morgan and Jace Kuntz of Dillon. Additional survivors include a sister, Shirley Lich of Billings; uncle Frank Stief of Billings; aunt Helen Kuntz of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Custer School Gymnasium. Burial will take place at the Custer cemetery with military rites conducted by the A.C. Buckner Post 111.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Edwin Kuntz Memorial, c/o Yellowstone Bank of Laurel, (Attn: Jim Taylor or Rick Arnold), P.O. Box 7, Laurel, MT 59044 with the intent of using the funds to set up a scholarship program for the benefit of a Custer High School senior who intends to further their education at a college or trade school.

Walter Henry Ryniker
Walter Henry Ryniker, 86, of Billings, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
He was born in Billings on June 15, 1914, the son of Walter B. and Berenice (Cowen) Ryniker.
Walt graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1932. He attended Billings Polytechnic and Montana State College at Bozeman. He then joined his father with Ryniker Steel Products, Inc. and operated the business until his retirement in 1982.
Walt was a member of the First Baptist Church, Billings, Yellowstone Kiwanis Club, Billings Lodge 113, AF and AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Bedoo Shrine and the DeMolay Chevelier.
Walt had over 50 years of perfect attendance with the Billings Kiwanis Club and had received the George Hixon Fellow award from the Kiwanis. He sang in the church choir for many years and sang with the Shrine Chanters in the earlier years. He was the first Eagle Scout in the Yellowstone Valley of Boy Scouts and had been a scoutmaster, Walt enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at East Rosebud and was a fly fisherman. Walt was also a member of the Sigma Chi.
Walt married Alice D. Durland on June 17, 1938, in Billings.
Walt is survived by his wife, Alice; a son, Bruce (Marilee) Ryniker of Torrance, Calif.; a daughter, Ann (Robert) Solie of Billings; six grandchildren, Kevin and Steven Ryniker of California; Jennifer Solie Tetz of Carson City, Nev.; Jeffrey Williams of Anchorage; Major Peter Solie of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sue Solie White of Rawlins, Wyo.; and six great grandchildren.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry; and a sister Harriet Wynd.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the First Baptist Church, corner of 3rd Avenue N. and Division Street. Interment will follow at Mountview cemetery. Smith’s Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Special K Ranch or First Baptist Church Endowment Fund.

Alexandra Morgan Coad
BOZEMAN – Alexandra Morgan Coad, infant daughter of Michael and Jennifer (Ashcraft) Coad, twin sister to Kendall and sister to Garrett, passed away from SIDs on Sept. 7, 2000, at her home.
Alexandra was born on June 21, in Bozeman. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Jim and Kay Ashcraft of Sidney; fraternal grandparents, Ed and Cindy Coad of Dillon, and Sherry and Buster Brown of Grant; great grandparents, Andy and Bernice Perlinski of Bozeman, and Ella and Slim Rennewance of Ennis.
Private family services will be held.

Walter Henry Ryniker
Walter Henry Ryniker, 86, of Billings, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.

Milford L. Carlson
RHAME, N.D. – Milford L. Carlson, 80, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Sunset Care Corporation in Bowman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the First Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in the Tuttle cemetery.
A family service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Krebsbach Funeral Home chapel.

Glayde Yoder
SIDNEY – Glayde Yoder, 101, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 12, at the Lonsdale United Methodist Church.
Masonic services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery.

Keyena DePoe
Keyena DePoe, 2, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, in Polson.
Interment will take place in Billings.

Clara Kirkpatrick
WIBAUX – Clara Kirkpatrick, 89, died Sept. 9, 2000, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sentinel Butte, N.D.
Interment will be in the Sentinel Butte cemetery.

Margaret D. Ford
WORLAND, Wyo. – Margaret Davids Ford, 84, formerly of Billings, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Washakie Medical Center.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church.
Veile Mortuary is in charge.

Edna F. Leach
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Edna Falkenstern Leach, 82, formerly of Terry, Mont., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Presbyterian Community Church.
Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County cemetery.

Frances Lamendola
MILES CITY – Frances Lamendola, 71, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Vigil services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Sacred Heart Church.
Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery.

Loren B. Walz
Loren Benjamin Walz, 55, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at his residence.
Cremation has taken place.
No services are planned at this time.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge.

Helen Cummins
BUFFALO, Wyo. – Helen Cummins, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Amie Holt Care Center.
Visitation will be held at 1-10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Willow Grove cemetery with graveside services.

Anthony B. Andrews
MALTA – Anthony B “Tony” Andrews, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Phillips County Medical Center of a heart attack.
Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in the Malta cemetery. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.

Dr. James E. Elliott
HAVRE – Dr. James E. Elliott, MD, 70, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, of natural causes.
Arrangements are pending.
Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory of Missoula is in charge.

Verna York
SIDNEY – Verna York, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Pella Lutheran Church.
Eastern Star services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery.

Cornelia M. Randall
Cornelia M. Randall, 77, of Billings, passed away on Sept. 4, 2000. She was born Jan. 23, 1923, to Martin and Mary (Dugan) Rognlien near Berwick, N.D. She graduated in Berwick and attended college in Minot.
A World War II veteran, she wed Carl Johnson in 1948. For 30 years she worked for the Army Corps of Engineers on various missile and dam projects in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and North Dakota, retiring in 1982. She then moved to Billings and spent many years working as a caregiver. She loved to tell jokes and recite poetry.
She is survived by her brother, John (Josephine) Rognlien; daughters, Darlene Durnad and Melissa Johnson; grandchildren, Cami Neiss, Andrew Gutierrez, and Patrick Neiss; children, Patrick and Riley, Tanzya (Brian) Molyneaux and children, Athena and Brian. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Melvin Rognlien.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at 811 N. 23rd St. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund.

Frances F. Sikorski
BAKER – Frances F. Sikorski, age 93, of Baker, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the Fallon Medical Complex. She was born April 11, 1907, at Victor, the daughter of Richard and Mary Doyle Foley. She grew up and attended schools in the Victor area and graduated from High School there.
Frances received her teaching certificate and later taught schools in Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota. In 1933, she was married to Edward Sikorski in Carter County. To this union five sons were born, Ed, Jack, Mike, Jerry and Tim. They raised their family and farmed in the Willard community.
Frances enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. She served on the EMI board, was a member of the Democratic Central Committee, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and Alter Society, Willard Homemakers and Hospital Helpers Pinkies.
Frances enjoyed painting, crafts and sewing. She especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as an enthusiastic, eccentric lady who lived life to the fullest. Her favorite quote was “If you got it, flaunt it”.
Survivors include, her five sons, Edward Sikorski of Willard, Jack Sikorski of Wyoming, Mike Sikorski and his wife, Barbara of Brookfield Center, Conn., Jerry Sikorski and his wife, Kathy of Willard and Tim Sikorski and his wife, Penny of Flower Mound, Texas; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Stevenson’s Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Catholic cemetery. Stevenson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
