VIRGINIA KEELEY

Virginia (Ginnie) Elizabeth (Fisher) Keeley, 77, of Havre died Monday, June 16, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Memorial graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Highland cemetery.

Virginia was born June 1, 1926, in Hauge, N.D. to Julia and John Fisher. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by her stepmother, Eva Fisher. Virginia attended school in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School. She then went to work for F.A. Buttrey in Havre.

She married Mark A. Keeley June 11, 1947, in Havre, where the couple made their home.

Virginia became a resident at the Northern Montana Care Center in 2001. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, latch hook, listening to her favorite music, and visiting with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing, gardening and cooking.

She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Fisher in 1928 and John Fisher in 1954, and her husband, Mark Keeley in 1982.

Survivors include her children, Carol (Ron) Beeler of Great Falls, David (Bonnie) Keeley of Havre, Mark (Sharon) Keeley of Gildford, John (Terri) Keeley of Havre, Tom (Kathy) Keeley of Sammamish, Wash., Bill (Ellie) Keeley of Havre, Rick (Michelle) Keeley of Portland, Ore., Terry (Gwen) Keeley of Havre; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; sister, Perry (Richard) Sherrill of Kalispell; and dedicated friend Mindy Bricker of Helena.

Memorials in Virginia's Honor may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation P.O. Box 2411 Great Falls, MT 59403.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.

Clifford David Gehring, Jr.
(March 14, 1948 - January 10, 2012)

Clifford (Butch) Gehring, Jr. passed away at home from cancer on January 10th. He was born in Helena, Montana, March 14, 1948 to Clifford Gehring, Sr. and Joann Biggerstaff.

He is survived by his wife Wendy, children Jamie of California, Tessa, Robby, and Reanne, all of Lincoln, grandchildren Eli and Madison Eckhart, sisters Christine (Rodger) Holm, Susan (Rick) Dunkerly, and Camile (Gary) Newburn, brothers Wally (Marilyn) Lewis and Randy (Jan) Lewis, and his mother Joann (Dick) Archer.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Clifford Gehring Sr., and step parents Lenard and Hope Larsen, and nephew Devin Holm.

Services will be held at the Lincoln school gym at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2012, Lincoln, Montana. A pot luck will follow at the community hall.

Larry Avery Bantz
(December 5, 1954 - January 6, 2012)

Larry Avery Bantz, age 57 of Helena, passed away on January 6, 2012 in Helena from a brief illness.

He was born December 5, 1954 in Scobey, Montana to Lawrence “Penny” and Geraldine (Knight) Bantz and was raised in Outlook, Montana, graduating from Outlook High School in 1974.

Throughout high school, Larry worked on the McCrory family farm both in Outlook and Canada.

After high school, Larry worked in the oil fields and laid cable in Oklahoma, before returning to Montana.

In the early 80’s, Larry farmed with his father on the Tange family farm until his father retired at which time Larry took over the full operation of the farm.

Larry married Wendy Nelson on June 16, 1984 in Redstone, Montana.

After leaving the farm, Larry and Wendy moved to Helena in 1996 so that Wendy could pursue her nursing degree.

Larry worked in excavating and mechanics of heavy equipment gradually retiring over the past two years.

Larry loved the prairies and coulees of Northeastern Montana and disliked the mountains because they blocked his view of the open spaces.

He loved working the land and raising cattle. Larry never had idle hands.

His activities always had a purpose but the closest thing to a hobby was butchering and sausage making with friends.

Larry always lent a helping hand to his neighbors, friends and family, but would seldom ask for their help in return.

Larry was as honest as the day is long and nothing angered him more than a lie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Penny.

Larry is survived by his wife, Wendy of 27 years; children, Justin Bantz, Jason (Nichole) Bantz, Tyler Bantz, and Bronte Bantz; grandchildren, Christian Ayers, and Lane Bantz; his mother, Geraldine Bantz; sister, Mary Jane (Tim) West all of Helena.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Larry’s life will be held the afternoon of June 17, 2012 at the Cory Nelson farm in Redstone, MT.

CHARLOTTE STEVENS

PHOENIX - Former Havre resident Charlotte "Lynn" Decker Stevens, 65, of Phoenix, died of cancer Friday in Phoenix.

There will be no services.

Lynn was born Feb. 13, 1938, in Havre, where she was raised and educated. She attended Havre High School and attended the University of Montana in Missoula.

During her husband's career as a Navy dentist, Lynn lived in San Francisco, Japan, Houston, the Philippines and San Diego. She was able to pursue her passion for travel and visisted many of the countries of the world. In later years, Lynn ran a catering business and an antique business. At various times, she had homes in Baltimore, Bristol, Vt., San Francisco and Phoenix. In addition to traveling, Lynn had a genuine interest in people and collected friends wherever she journeyed.

Lynn was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Susan Decker; and her parents, James and Margaret Decker of Havre.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Mark Stevens of Baltimore; a brother, Bob Decker of Helena; nieces Mary Elizabeth and Rosa Decker; and a close group of friends around the globe.

Memorials may be sent to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, 2050 Overland Ave., Billings, MT 59102.

Roberta Charlene (Char) Kruse
(January 27, 1937 - January 4, 2012)

On January 4, 2012, Roberta Charlene (Char) Kruse (74) passed away peacefully at the Big Sky Care Center in Helena. Born to Howard and Margaret (Schreiner) Kruse on January 27, 1937 in Townsend, MT and remained there until she moved to Helena in 1950. She graduated from Helena High School with the class of 1955.

Immediately after graduation from high school, Char began her career with the State of Montana, working for the Montana Highway Patrol. While employed with the MHP she became a communication’s dispatcher and continued in this position for 30 years. She retired in 1986. She wasn’t happy being idol, so she went back to work part time for the MHP for another 10 years and then retired permanently.

Char never had children of her own but always said her nieces and nephews were her kids. She always went to their school programs and sports activities in which they were involved and she was very proud of their accomplishments. She was family oriented, loved the large family dinners, playing cards and just visiting.

In her younger years she played women’s fastpitch softball. Her favorite position was 3rd base. She was drafted by Arizona Ramblers to play semi-pro softball in Arizona. It was not her desire to leave the beautiful state of Montana, so she graciously declined. In 2009 she was inducted into the Helena Sports Hall of Fame as a team member of the Freezers women’s fastpitch softball league.

Char was an avid bowler and a member of the Big 12 + 4 league for many years. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and family gatherings. She was baptized and confirmed into the Episcopal Church.

Even though Char was disabled and in poor health in her later years, she was always cheerful and full of life. She could joke, tease, and have fun with her caregivers. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother Clifford (Jean) Kruse, their son and daughter, Dan (Mary) Kruse and Linda (Leon) Uzelac; sister Myrna Morrissey, her sons Jerry Morrissey and Tom (Annette) Morrissey; sister Karyl (Vernon) Williams, their children Shelly (Dan) Burns, Jayne (Sean) McLaughlin, Vince (Kim) Williams as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Also a special person who was there for her during her times of need, her nephew-in-law Thane Hatch, and special friends Butch and Fran Condon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Kruse; brother-in-law, Gerald Morrissey; nephew, Patrick Kelly Kruse; great niece, Athena Dawn Morrissey.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Big Sky Care Center, St Peters Hospice, and Rocky Mountain Hospice for all of their compassion and help with Char.

A celebration of Char’s life will be held Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Retz Funeral Home Chapel with The Very Rev. Heidi Kinner of St. Peter's Episcopal Cathedral officiating.

Cremation has taken place.

A gathering of friends and family will take place immediately following the services, in the basement of the VFW Post 10010, 117 Main Street in East Helena.

John Eugene Eldredge
(April 8, 1918 - January 3, 2012)

John Eugene Eldredge, age 93 of Helena, passed away January 3, 2012.

He was born to the late William N and Catherine M. (Woodbury) Eldredge in Granger, Utah on April 8, 1918.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Salt Lake City under the care of McDougal Funeral Home, (801) 968-4321.

BART WILSON

Bart O. Wilson, 32, a local farmer, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, west of Big Sandy one mile north on Ihmsen Wells Road. Cause of death is due to a single vehicle accident.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Jack Rampelberg officiating. Burial is to follow at the

Highland cemetery. Fellowship will follow the committal rite at the Vets Club.

Bart was born Jan. 13, 1971, to Kenneth Lloyd and Caroline (Becker) Wilson in Havre. Bart attended grade school in Havre and graduated from Havre High School in 1990. He lettered in track and in football. He majored in business administration at Montana State University-Northern in Havre and MSU-Bozeman. Bart was from a farming family. He owned and farmed land west and north of Box Elder. He was heading to his home in Box Elder the morning of his accident.

Bart was a staunch member of the North Winds Athletic Club. He enjoyed racquetball, but most of all the social interaction and travel. He worked hard, and he played hard. Bart had gone to Mexico, California, Washington, and other places for fun, adventure or work. Bart leaves many special friends.

Bart was preceded in death by his grandparents; Roy and Dorothy Wilson and Carl and Lucille Becker; father, Kenneth Lloyd Wilson on July 10, 2001; and uncles, Marvin "Red" Wilson, Alvin "Bud" Wilson, and Ernest "Tiny" Wilson in 2002.

Survivors include his mother, Caroline Wilson; brothers, Brian and Kenneth J. (Marlene) Wilson; sister, Cindy Lu Wilson; and five nieces and nephews, all of Havre.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Charlotte Kelley, P.O. Box 1107, Havre, MT 59501 or the American Lung Association, Montana Division, 825 Helena Ave., Helena, MT 59061-3459, or to the donor's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.

John Jay Parmer, Sr.
(October 9, 1932 - January 2, 2012)

John Jay Parmer, Sr., age 79 of Helena, passed away on January 2, 2012.

He was born in West Yellowstone, Montana on October 9, 1932 to the late John P. and Nellie M. (Charles) Parmer.

John attended grade school.

He married Betty Jane in Livingston, Montana on February 20, 1970.

For many years, John worked for various contractors and assisted on the construction of the Canyon Ferry Dam, Ash Grove Cement Plant and he owned and operated the R & R Lumber Mill in Lincoln which he retired from in 1990.

John was a member of the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church, and attended various organizations.

He was the director of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Park Board Director and was the president/vice-president of the Lincoln Rodeo Club for sixteen years.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, puzzles and watching baseball games.

But most of all, he enjoyed his family.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty of 37 years; his parents; daughter Becky Jo; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his children, John “ Butch” J. (Shelley) Parmer, June (Danny) Wall and Barb (David) Schultz; grandchildren, Chris Parmer, Mike (Heather) Parmer, Randy (Kari) Parmer, Stacy Nelson, Krista Wall and Mariah Schultz; great-grandchildren, Brandy, Rachel, Auston, Emmalee, Landon, Kinslee Parmer, Hope Nelson and Taylor Wall.

He is also survived by his siblings, Bill Parmer, Shirley Rodriguez, Netta Green, Loretta Neibel, June Steinmetz (best friend), and numerous nieces and nephews and John’s faithful dog, Clem.

A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church in Lincoln, MT.

A reception will follow the service at the Fellowship Hall at the church.
