FLORENCE READ

HARLEM - Florence Shirley Musgrove Plunkett Read, 92, died on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at her daughter's home in West Covina, Calif.

Graveside services will be held in the Harlem cemetery in Harlem at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Florence was born on the family farm in Savoy to Charles and Nettie Musgrove on Jan. 16, 1911. She lived with her family in Savoy, Harlem and Kalispell before settling in Chinook.

Florence married Frank Plunkett in 1931. In 1934 they moved to Los Angeles where she was a homemaker until the outbreak of World War II, when she joined the U.S. Post Office. She retired in 1967.

Florence married John Read of Long Beach, Calif. in 1947 and lived there until they both retired to Yucan Valley, Calif.

Many of her retirement years were spent in Chinook caring for her parents, gardening and fishing with friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy (Andy) Waterman of West Covina, Calif.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

Kenneth 'Kenny' Spencer Roberts

Kenneth "Kenny" Spencer Roberts, 69, of Victor died at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle of burns suffered in a motor home fire near Sula.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1935, at Geneseo, Ill., and was the son of Kenneth Earl and Julia (Herbst) Roberts.

Kenny moved with his family to Montana in 1942. He received his education in Victor. On Aug. 6, 1971, he married Helen Marie Carlson. He worked for L. A. Hamilton as a sawyer for 20 years and for Eldon Roberts in logging from 1976-1985. In 1985 he worked for Nevell Log Homes, retiring in the fall of 2000. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid bowler. He was with the Victor Fire Department for 24 years and active in the community. Ken was a member of the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Helen Lippencott, Hazel Ponton and Shirley Roberts and a brother Darold Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Victor; his children, Darrell (Linda) Roberts, David (Ellen) Kittel, and Debbie (Scott) Rowland all of Victor, and Jim (Kim) Roberts of Seattle. Also surviving are two brothers, Eldon (Judy) Roberts of Stevensville and Lyle Roberts of St. Ignatius; three sisters, Betty (Larry) Erickson of Missoula and Sandy (Raymond) Goss of Stevensville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville on Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Capen officiating. Burial will follow at the Victor cemetery.

Memorials are asked to the Victor Fire Department, Bitter Root Humane Association or to the donor's choice.

EVA MCINTOSH

Eva L. McIntosh, 73, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at her residence after a long battle with lung cancer.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Zoe Coutts and John Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.

Eva was born Nov. 10, 1929, and raised north of Havre to Claude and Blanche (Bjertnes) Springer. Eva attended Grainbelt School. She moved to Havre and worked for F.A. Buttrey in the shoe department. She married Stuart McIntosh on Jan. 7, 1949, in Havre. She worked at Buttreys until 1952, when she and Stuart moved to Simpson to farm. They raised their children and farmed in Simpson for many years before moving to Havre in 1998, but continued to farm.

Eva was a very caring mother and always had time for everyone, offering a kind word or a helping hand. She enjoyed gardening, her yard work and flowers. She always had huge raspberry bushes and strawberry plants. She was well known for her homemade cookies. Eva enjoyed bowling and was very active in the First Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon and also helped with 4-H. In her younger years she played softball and was instrumental in starting the Girls Softball Association. The team she played on was Eva's Globetrotters. Eva was a very active woman and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glen, Clyde, Lynn, Vurl and Rurl Springer; sisters, Buelah Brown, Vera Swinney, and Del Allyn.

Eva is survived by her husband, Stuart McIntosh of Havre; daughter Bonnie (Jim) Shaffer of Tacoma, Wash.; sons, Alec (Karen) McIntosh of Havre, Steve (Wanda) McIntosh of Simpson; five grandchildren; companion, Lady Bug; brothers, Cliff (Katie) Springer of Havre, Fred (Betty) Springer of Kremlin, Martin (Lorna) Springer of Havre; sisters Betty Anderson of Harlem, and Ila Knudson of Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Memorials in Eva's honor may be made to the Glacier Presbyterian Church Camp 701 4th Avenue Havre, MT 59501 or the Anchor Academy HC 30 Box 100 Havre, MT 59501.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.

Jean Lubke

Jean Lubke, 48 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

Lee W. Siegfried

Lee W. Siegfried passed away on Wednesday, Dec., 29, 2004, in Hamilton at age 93.

Lee was born in Plymouth, Wis., on June 2, 1911, the only child of William and Ida (Winkler) Siegfried. He spent his childhood in Plymouth and most of his adult life in Milwaukee, Wis. He married Margaret LaRoche of Lake Linden, Mich., on Aug. 2, 1941. The couple has two children.

Lee served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Rainbow Division and served in the European Theater.

After his return to civilian life, Lee managed several men's clothing stores in the Milwaukee area until his retirement in 1988.

Lee and Margaret moved to Hamilton in 1988 where he continued to reside until his death. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Parish in Hamilton.

Lee is survived by his wife, Margaret, at the family home; daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Dennis Jones, of Stevensville; son, Robert Siegfried, and his wife, Paulette, of Mullica Hill, N.J.; his favorite cousin, Raymond Winkler, of Eagle, Wis.; three step-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, one step-granddaughter and his beloved Boston terrier, Andy.

A wake service for Lee will be held on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at 7 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. John Darragh as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers the family asks to have Masses said for Lee or memorials in his name may be made to the Bitter Root Humane Association, 262 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton, MT 59840.

Alvin Gene Wagner

Alvin Gene Wagner Sr., 66, of Vantage, Wash., died at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1938, in Missoula and was the son of Mildred (Galland) and Louis Wagner.

He started first grade at Seeley Lake logging camp, then attended third through 12th grade at Victor, where he participated in football, basketball and track.

He met his wife, Alice Jean Dillon, during high school years, and they were later married Aug. 17, 1958, in Delta, Colo. Alvin attended Links Business School in Boise, Idaho. He worked for a short time in Kuna, Idaho, at the Kuna Herald. In 1964 he began a career in The Powerline Business Building. He received his journeyman lineman card upon graduating from Portland, Ore. His career in Powerline has taken him and his family to many states across America. In 1986 he became an inspector for Powerline until the present time.

Alvin enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing, playing games with his family, puzzles and carpentry. He loved his family, wife, children and took great pride in his grandchildren and he loved his work.

Alvin was preceded in death by an infant brother, his father and brother, Albert.

Survivors include his wife, A. Jean, of Vantage; sons, Gary of Corvallis, Steve of Seattle, Alvin, Jr. of Durango, Colo., and a daughter, Sonja Nesta, of Great Falls. He is also survived by his mother, Mildred Foote, of Corvallis, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 1 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow at the Corvallis cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to donors choice.

ALYCE BEAVENS

Alyce E. Beavens, 89, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Eagles Manor with the Rev. Catherine Card officiating. A funeral service and burial will be held at the Miller- Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Bremerton, Wash.

Alyce was born June 1, 1914, to Martin and Karen (Johannas) Jensen in Barr. She grew up north of Hinsdale and attended a country school.

She married William Beavens on Oct. 1, 1948, in Tacoma, Wash.

She moved to Havre in 1996 after her husband's death to be closer to family. She lived at the Eagles Manor.

Alyce enjoyed trips to the family farm in Hinsdale and nature reading. She enjoyed visiting with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Beavens; daughters, Andrea Tinney and Emily Davis; brother, Melvin Jensen; and sisters, Anna and Gladys.

She is survived by her great-granddaughter Kiera Peterson of Havre; and great-grandsons, Derek Peterson of Havre, Mike Tinney and Patrick Tinney; and four great -great -grandchildren.

Memorials in Alyce's honor may be sent to: The First Lutheran Church or a Memorial of one's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.

Richard W. Brown

Richard W. "Dick" Brown, 73, of Polson, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at his home in Polson. Richard was born on March 11, 1931, in San Francisco. Richard served in the Korean conflict with the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after 20 years of service as a loss controller for CNA and he previously worked as a state patrol officer for Illinois.

Richard's hobbies and interests included backpacking, hiking, climbing, kayaking and snowshoeing. He was a lover of nature and all wildlife.

Richard is survived by his two sons, Josh Brown-White and Matt Brown-White, and one brother, Roy Nisja. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Cremation was under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory of Polson.

Virginia O'Hara

Virginia O'Hara, 77, of Corvallis passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at her home.

She is survived by her daughters, Nita Ruiz and Bev Anderson, both of Corvallis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy B. O'Hara, son, Glen Morris, and grandson, David Anderson.

Services and urn placement will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

James W. Rasmussen

James W. Rasmussen, 63, of Hamilton passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

Wayne L. Dayton

Wayne L. Dayton, 73, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at his home in Stevensville on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, after a short battle with liver cancer.

He was born in Missoula Oct. 6, 1931, the fifth of five boys born to Carl W. and Pearle (Daniels) Dayton, and lived his entire 73 years on the same property five miles south of Stevensville.

Wayne attended Etna Grade School and graduated from Stevensville High School in 1949, where he excelled in all sports. He lettered in three sports all four years of high school and was the first FFA member from Stevensville to attend the National FFA Convention in Kansas City. He attended one year at Eastern Washington College in Cheney, Wash. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 - 1951.

In 1953, he married his neighbor and childhood friend, Georgiann Strange of Stevensville. To this marriage were born three children; Kathi, Debbie and Steve. He and Georgiann were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for time and all eternity.

He farmed and had dairy cows for most of his adult life. When health reasons required a different occupation, the majority of the family farm was sold. He earned his real estate license and developed both the Winslett Subdivision and the Jacob T. Dayton Subdivision in Stevensville In partnership with Dan Severson, he built Burnt Fork Manor in 1990. He also spent some time working in Alaska.

Wayne was an avid reader; and took pride in his lawn and garden. He loved helping out in 'Gee's Antique Shop." The couple traveled to many antique shows and sales around the West. He continued to follow Stevensville High School sports his entire life; and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, often traveling hundreds of miles to attend a ball game.

Wayne was a member of the Stevensville American Legion Post #94, a volunteer fireman for the Etna District, and a member of the Stevensville 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he enjoyed working with children and youth.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Carl, Jr., Neil and Wally Dayton.

Survivors include his wife, Georgiann of Stevensville; two daughters, Kathi (Robb) Peck of Carey, Idaho, Debbie (Tom) LeCheminant of West Jordan, Utah; one son, Steve (Chris) Dayton of Shoshone, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Also surviving is a brother, Morris Dayton, in California and a sister-in-law, Betty Dayton, of Sequim, Wash.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Stevensville Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Stan Jenne conducting on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow with American Legion military honors at Victor cemetery.

Memorials are asked to the LDS Missionary Fund or to the American Legion.

The Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville is in charge of arrangements.
