Larry Lloyd Hagen
On Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, Larry Lloyd Hagen died in the presence of his loved ones. Funeral services will be private and no visitation will be scheduled.
A native of southwest Louisiana, he was a decorated Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Mr. Hagen spent his most recent years in Miles City, working on a ranch. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
His survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Carol Wears Hagen; his mother, Mrs. C.B. (Ruby) Hagen Sr. of Ragley; his surviving sisters, Sandy Hagen Byrd (Andy) of Houston, Texas, and Diana Hagen of Ragley; his surviving brothers, C.B. (Butch) Hagen Jr. of Sulphur, Frank Hagen (Shirley) of Moss Bluff, Paul Hagen of Ragley and Terry Hagen (Molly) of Moss Bluff; sister-in-law, Francis Buford Hagen, the wife of the late Gary Wayne Hagen Sr. of Ragley; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Wears (Joyce) of Elk City, Okla., and Gary Wears (Rhonda) of Perryton, Texas.
Additional surviving loved ones include many nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors. Mr. Hagen will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Joseph Brian Hagen and Patrick Lee Hagen; father, C.B. (Joe) Hagen Sr.; and brother, Gary Wayne Hagen Sr.
A gathering of friends and family will celebrate Mr. Hageb’s life on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the family home in Ragley from 1 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity of choice.

Lydia Leona Schumacher Schock
Lydia Leona Schumacher Schock, 90, of Vida, Mont., died Aug.7, 2011 at the McCone County Health Center in Circle, Mont.
Mrs. Schock was born Sept. 16, 1920 in rural Wolf Point. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Richey.
A family service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Circle. A service celebrating her life will be held at the on Monday, Aug.15, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Church in Circle. Interment will follow in the Prairie Lawn cemetery at Vida.
Mrs. Schock was preceded in death by Art Schock, her husband of 66 years. One sister, Esther Schumacher Schock, and four brothers, Dan Schumacher, Fred Schumacher, John Schumacher, and Leo Schumacher, and a grandson, Carlin Arthur Schock, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her seven children, Robert (Sherri) Schock of Goldendale, Wash.; Lois (Gary) Greenfield of Centennial, Colo.; Ardell (Dennis) Savage of Gretna, Neb.; LaDonna (Larry) Haber of Circle, Mont.; Joyce Hanlon of Dyersburg, Tenn.; Dennis (Mary) Schock of Ft. Worth, Texas; Arlene (Eric) Huff of Rockwall, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Schumacher Kuehne of Long Prairie, Minn. and her brother Leonard Schumacher of Poway, Calif.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kahle Greenfield, Josh Haber, Cody Haber, Shad Haber, Jeremy Savage, Jared Schock, Garen Schock, and Cole Schock, and great grandson, Chace Schock.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch at 1732 South 72nd Street West, Billings MT 59106.

Isidor Sackman
Isidor Sackman, 86, of Glendive, formerly of Sidney and Fallon, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
Mr. Sackman was born in Fallon on July 30, 1925, the son of Gottlieb and Katherine Stickel Sackman. He grew up on the family farm and went to the Sackman Country School and Fallon School.
On Sept. 12, 1948, he and Mary Ann Krausz were married in Plevna. She died in August of 1995.
Mr. Sackman remained on the family farm until 1995, retiring and moving into Fallon until 1998 when he moved to Sidney.
He married Marilyn Karsten on June 25, 1998. In November of 2010, he moved to Glendive to be near family.
Mr. Sackman was on the Fallon School Board for nine years, the Terry High School Board for nine years and was a Prairie County Commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Sidney; the Moose Lodge in Williston, N.D.; and the Eagles Lodge in Miles City.
Mr. Sackman loved to sing and dance. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
His survivors include his children: Karen (Kenny) Strobel of Miles City, Darrell (Linda) Sackman of Glendive and Jerry Sackman of Fallon; two sisters: Rachel Merrideth of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Esther Olson of Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Mary Ann; and a sister: Ruby Wahl.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry. A prayer service will follow at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County cemetery in Terry.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

James Alex Russiff
James Alex Russiff, age 83, of Olive, Mont., died on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Mr. Russiff was born at Coalwood, Mont. on May 8, 1928, the fourth son of Pete and Donna (Minow) Russiff. He attended the Cross S Elementary School and graduated from Custer County District High School in Miles City. He joined the Army and was sworn in on Feb. 2, 1953 and served with the 2nd Armored Division. After some time state side, he was stationed for two years in Germany and was honorably discharged on Jan. 20, 1956.
Before his Army days however, Mr. Russiff had been introduced to Miss Faye Ross, courtesy of Bill and Lorraine Minow. On May 15, 1960, hemarried the love of his life, Faye, at the Terry Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. They lived in the Olive area and enjoyed ranch life. They had three children in two years (one set of twins). They celebrated 40 years of marriage and shortly after, Faye passed away.
They were members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Broadus. Mr. Russiff was a dedicated usher and served many years on the church council. He served on the Cross S School Board for many years. The couple’s home was always open to visitors and the coffee pot was always on, for both truly loved the art of conversation. Mr. Russiff was especially close to his dear friend and brother-in-law, Kenneth Liles.
He enjoyed doing many things on the ranch. He treasured his big red combine, his four-wheeler, his almost new Buick car and selling calves. He loved visiting with people, including people he met for the first time. Truly, he never met a stranger, just a new friend he had found. He will be remembered for his perpetually positive attitude, his zest for life, his strength and courage, his Bulgarian speaking ability, and last but not least, his repertoire of jokes, and his sense of humor.
Mr. Russiff is survived by his daughter, Barb, and his granddaughter, Kyla Faye, both of Springtown, Texas; his son, Barry of the family ranch at Olive, Mont.; his daughter, Bonnie (Dave) Schott and grandchildren Jake and Marie Schott of Seattle, Wash.. Survivors also include many Minow, Russiff and Ross relatives and Mr. Russiff cherished them all. Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, all four brothers and their wives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 6:30 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery, with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1579.
Should relatives and friends desire, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Russiff’s name to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Broadus.

Keith Milmine
Keith Milmine, age 82, of Sanders, Mont. died on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth, Mont.
Mr. Milmine was born June 1, 1929, the son of Victor and Margaret (Angles) Milmine in Forsyth. He attended school in Sanders. Following his schooling, he worked on the family ranch. Due to health conditions, he was deferred from the service; however he was able to keep the family ranch running while his two brothers served in WWII. He worked on the ranch with his father during this time and because of him they were able to keep the ranch in the family. Mr. Milmine worked hard all his life on the family ranch that he truly loved.
He was a faithful supporter of the Presbyterian Church in Hysham, Mont. Mr. Milmine was a full partner in the Milmine Ranch Partnership along with Lee, Waine, Don and his brother Jack. He was a member of the Stock Growers Association, the NRA and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and relaxing at rare times, but most of all enjoyed his work on the ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Margaret Milmine; his siblings, Don Milmine, Jack Milmine, Jim Pearson, Ted Pearson, Jean Milmine, Margaret DeCock and Ruby Berdan.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Olson of Sheridan, Wyo.; his sister-in-law Betty Milmine of Sanders; his nephews, Waine (Sharon) Milmine of Sanders, Lee (Angie) Milmine of Sanders, Don (Debbie) Milmine of Billings, Rick (Ivy) Wetsch of Lincoln, Neb., Ron (Joy) Wetsch of Drummond, Mont.; Jim (Richelle) DeCock of Hysham, Bob (Sharon) DeCock of Hysham, Gary ( Ginger) DeCock of Hysham; his nieces, Pauline “Punky” (Ray) Zastoupil of Forsyth, Marion (Jack) Larson of Miles City, Donna (Alan) Cope of Sheridan, Wyo., Marlene (Jack) Sumdt of Missoula, Mont. and Helen Pennix of Pittsburg, Pa.; and numerous great and great great nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Rosebud Foundation, bath tub fund, P.O. Box 500, Forsyth, MT 59327. The family would also like to give special thanks to the Rosebud Health Care Center staff for their loving care.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Funeral Service will be held Friday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Burial will follow in the family plot of the Forsyth cemetery. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth has been entrusted with these arrangements.

Theresa Ann "Annie" Sorley
Theresa Ann “Annie” Sorley, 66, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, in Miles City after a long fight with cancer.
She was born in Sheridan, Wyo., on June 19, 1945, the daughter of Wilbert Clarence and Willma (Lynde) Sorger. Annie attended schools in Lodge Grass; Anchorage, AK; Seattle, Wash.; and Wolf Point.
She married John Sorley on Nov. 2, 1962, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, N.D. Mr. and Mrs. Sorley farmed in McCone County for 48 years. Mrs. Sorley was a member of the First Lutheran Church, participating in Peace Circle and the Quilters and Knitters group. She also spent many years volunteering as a McCone County 4-H leader.
Mrs. Sorley enjoyed her friends and family; her grandchildren brought her special joy. She had a great sense of humor and always appreciated a little practical joke.
Over the past 25 years, Mrs. Sorley faced and overcame many medical challenges. In October 2000 she received the gift of life after a successful heart transplant operation at the University Of Washington Medical Center. She used this experience to encourage and inspire other transplant patients and their families and to advocate for organ donation.
She was notorious for her ability to always make light of a not so great situation and her never ending care and concern for others.
Her survivors include her three children: Tim (Karen) Sorley of Wolf Point, Dan (Lea) Sorley of Union, Wash., and Carmen (Mark) Tompkins of Friday Harbor, Wash.; her grandchildren: Sadie and Ethan Sorley, Ali Sorley, and Austin and Jared Tompkins; her sisters: Rita (Pat) O’Connor of Miles City, Delores (Chris) Evans of Wolf Point and Jeanne Selvy of Philomath, Ore.; her sister-in-laws: Paula Bowler of Hardin and Mary Ann Adkins of Nashua; one aunt, Sister Mary Anthony of the Monastery of the Angels in Los Angeles, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special pet dog, Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her brother, Bill; and step-mother, Eleanor Sorger.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Clayton-Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. Burial will follow at the Greenwood cemetery.

Delores Engel
Delores Engel, 79, of Billings, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, of heart failure.
She was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Gackle, N.D., to Edward and Mathilda Kramlich Jerke. She graduated from Shepherd High School in 1949 and then worked for the Wymont Tractor Company in Billings.
She and Gene Woody were married and they moved to Spokane, Wash., where she worked for a paper company until her retirement. The couple divorced.
In 1973, she and Eldon Engel were married and they moved to Cheney, Wash. After Mr. Engel”s death, she moved back to Billings and resided there until her death.
She loved sports, especially the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, movies and traveling with Mr. Engel.
Her survivors include her sisters, Alice Schroeber of Hamilton, Darlene (Leo) Solf of Winnette and JoAnn (Lyle) Peil of Billings; brother, Daryl (Bonnie) Jerke of Billings; and sisters-in-law, Barb Jerke of Bozeman, Lorraine Jerke of Miles City and Joyce Tvetene of BIllings.
Survivors also include her step-children, Kathy Grimm of Yakima, Wash., and Rick Engel of Cheney, Wash.; her step-daughter-in-law, Judy Engel of Cheney; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Engel; her parents; her brothers, Elmer, Albert, Arnold and Daymon; her sister, Delphine; and her step-daughter, Linda Engel.
At Mrs. Engel’s request, no services are planned. Her ashes will join Mr. Engel’s at Badger Lake in Washington.

Eileen Pettibone
Eileen Pettibone, 89, died at the Holy Rosary Extended care on Saturday, July 27, 2011.
Eileen was born on July 16, 1922, in Baxter, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Emma Newman Swift. She attended grade school in Brainard, Minn. She later married Torlev Olson and together had six children.
In 1962 she married Walter Pettibone in Miles City. The couple had two children where they lived together on the family ranch near Biddle until retirement.
After they retired, they wintered in Truth or Consequence, N.M. In 2006, Mrs. Pettibone moved back to the family ranch near Biddle to be closer to her family. She then moved into the TLC and finally to Powder River Manor at the end of her life.
She loved to socialize. She would play cards all day and night if she could have, as well as dance the night away five nights a week. Mrs. Pettibone loved to be at any of many family gatherings to socialize.
Her survivors include a sister, Maxine Blutcher of West Minister, Colo.; six sons: Laverne Olson (Linda Martin) of Williston, N.D., Don Olson (Shirley) of Virginia, Mike (Kathy) Olson of Moorcroft, Wyo., Larry Olson (Theresa) of Washington, Bruce Olson (Barb Mann) of Belt and Mark (Dawn) Pettibone of Cadillac, MI.
She is also survived by two daughters: Mary Olson Lownds of Gillette, Wyo., and Pam (Chester) Bruce of Biddle; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Pettibone; her brothers, Archie Swift, Raymond Swift, Bill Swift and Lester Swift; her sisters, Mary Lou Johnston, Bertha Swift and Viola Hudson; and parents, Harry and Emma Swift.
A celebration of Mrs. Pettibone’s life will be Saturday, Aug.13, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Valley Drive Baptist Church in Miles City or to the charity of one’s choice.

Jamie Moore Peters
Jamie Moore Peters, 42, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011.
Mr. Peters was born Aug. 6, 1968, to Gordon and Kathy Peters. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He treasured the many hunting and fishing trips he took with his dad, and brothers, sons and nephews.
He was well known for playing practical jokes and his sarcastic sense of humor was part of his quick witted personality. He followed in his grandfather’s, father’s, and uncles’ footsteps enjoying his career in construction operating heavy equipment.
His survivors include his father: Gordon; sons: Jordan, Gage, Gabe and Tristen; daughter: Vanessa; brothers: Jim (Twila), John (Tina Camrud), Justin (Marcie), Jacob (Andrea), and Jesse; and numerous nieces, nephews, special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy; and grandfather, Raymond Peters.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A luncheon will be Friday, Aug. 5 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall from 2 to 5 p.m.

Vern Carter
Vern Carter, 60, of Miles City died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Carter was born Aug. 20, 1950, in Miles City, the son of James N. and Arretta Carter of Miles City. He attended school in Miles City.
He was a brick mason in Miles City. Among Mr. Carter‘s brick works were the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Cellar and the front of the 600 Club.
His survivors include his mother, Arretta Carter of Great Falls; his sister, Jeannie Cummings of Great Falls; three children, Pete Carter, Mike Carter and Kacee Carter; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, James N. Carter; and his older brother, James Carter Jr.
A wake for Mr. Carter will be Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at 6 p.m. in Riverside Park. This will be a potluck and each one attending should come with a good story.
