Beverly Ann Lester
Beverly Ann Lester, 79, of Miles City died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.
Born in Racine, Wis., on Oct. 30, 1926, she was the daughter of Claude and Myrtle Price. She attended schools in Union Grove, Wis., and graduated from Union Grove High School.
She and Michael Lester were married in Union Grove on Feb. 16, 1951, and they remained in Union Grove for a short time before moving to Tacoma then Miles City and in 1976, they returned to Wisconsin where they made their home until 1988 when they moved back to Miles City where they had lived since.
Through the years, Mrs. Lester worked for Sacred Heart School Cafeteria and testing center.
She enjoyed cooking when her heath was good, she enjoyed working in the garden and most of all loved her family and the time they spent together.
Her survivors include three sons, Brian (Deb) Lester and Mark Lester, all of Miles City, and Mike (Marietta) Lester of Pocatello, Idaho; a brother, Ken (Betty) Price of Union Grove, Wis.; and her grandchildren: Justin, Kyle, Kelsey, Shawn, Jason, Kristen, Jarret, Desirae, Danielle and Dylan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Jean and Marvis.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Kenneth "Kenny" Stone
Kenneth “Kenny” Stone died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Holy Rosary Healthcare after a long illness.
Mr. Stone was born on November 9, 1956, to James and Betty Broce Stone in Miles City.
From 1979-1981, Mr. Stone worked for Tubescope Inc. in Evanston, Wyo. In 1981, he moved back to Miles City and worked for Conlin’s and Darryl Moore until moving to Glasgow in 1990.
In 2003, he moved back to Miles City to be closer to family and friends.
Mr. Stone enjoyed playing pool, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his life partner of 25 years, Toni Robinson of the family home; his son, Kenneth James Ulrich of Eureka, Calif.; his daughters, Rami Robinson of Billings, Kendra Robinson of Glasgow, and Kadee Robinson and a son, Vincent Robinson of Miles City.
He is also survived by one granddaughter, his “Little Sweetie, ” Chassidy Longtree-Robinson of Glasgow; his parents James and Betty Stone of La Junta, Colo.; his sisters, Donna (Mark) Sindelar of Moses Lake, Wash., Linda Benasky of Helena, Sandy (Bert) Prichard of Boisser, La., and Sheri (Wade) Howard of Lamar, Colo.; his uncles, Robert Stone of San Antonio, Texas, and Walter Stone of Miles City; a great-uncle, John Rothschiller of Miles City; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Stone.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be at a later date in the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Gertrude Z. Martin
Gertrude Z. Martin, 99, of Miles City, formerly of Helena, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility in Miles City.
Mrs. Martin was born on Nov. 2, 1906, the daughter of Brooks and Mary Elizabeth Dawson Carter in Salem, Ark. She moved with her family at the age of eight to just outside of Sturgis, S.D., where she attended schools and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1928.
She attended business college in Rapid City and then began working for Montana-Dakota Utilities in Sturgis.
On March 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to Sidney Martin. In 1942, they moved to California where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Defense Department during World War II. After the war ended, they moved back to South Dakota and in 1947 they moved to Helena and she started her career with the Montana Department of Fish and Game as an accountant.
After 20 years, she retired and she and her husband moved to Miles City to be closer to family and she has remained there since.
Mrs. Martin enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family and even showed up the men from time to time with her trophy game. She was also an avid bowler and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her survivors include her son, Neil Martin and his wife Joellen of Miles City; two grandchildren, Terri (Don) Stewart of Miles City and Brett Martin of Burbank, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Kara, Shea, Rafe and Hannah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in July of 1999, three sisters and one brother.
Memorial services will be Monday, April 17, 2006, at 7 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Miles City. Interment will be at a later date.

David Strobel
David Strobel, 83, of Terry, died April 11, 2006, at the Prairie Community Health Center in Terry. His death came after complications of pneumonia.
Mr. Strobel was born at the family home on Cabin Creek, to Gottlieb F. and Dorthea Stickel Strobel on Aug. 22, 1922. He was their ninth of 13 children. He attended rural school grades one through eight and graduated from Terry High School in Terry. He then attended Billings Business College, studying cost accounting.
In the 1940s, Mr. Strobel returned to the farm to work with his father and two brothers, Ted and Harold. In Terry, he played baseball and was a pitcher for the Lions Baseball Club. At this time, he met a local Terry teacher, Dorothy E. Wennemar; they were married on June 10, 1951 in Fallon. They began their life together on the farm/ranch on Cabin Creek. Of this union, three children were born; Pamela Marie (1952), Mary Ellen (1954) and Lester (1956).
Mr. Strobel loved farming and ranching and purchased the family farm/ranch from his parents. He managed the farmland and a head of commercial Black Angus cattle. Friends and acquaintances driving past the ranch/farm could often see the shop door open to find David repairing something. He was always ready to take time for a visit, which usually happened on a daily basis.
He served as president of the Prairie County Farm Bureau and served on the Conservation Board. Mr. Strobel enjoyed bowling and was secretary of the Ash Creek Roping Club and Cabin Creek Rural Fire District. He was one of the original members on the Mid-Rivers Telephone Board. Mr. Strobel was a member of the National Cattlemen’s Association, Montana Stockgrowers Association and the Fallon Evangelical Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; his daughters Pamela and Dale Bilyou of Ballantine, Mary Ellen Swanson and her children Lyn and David Michael of Farrbanks, Alaska; and his son, Lester of Terry and his children Justin (Glendive) and April (Colorado Springs, Colo.); and his siblings, Helen (Don) Doyle of Boise, Idaho, and Erna (Orvelle) Thompson of Davis, Calif.
His survivors also include two sisters-in-law, Stasia Gerrells of Billings, and Pauline Carrick of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and a special nephew, John Gerrells of Thermopolis, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ted, Bill, Arndt, Dick, Max, Tope, Reuben, Mariam, Rachel and Harold.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Fallon Evangical Church. Interment will follow in the Prairie County cemetery in Terry,
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry is in charge of arrangements.
Should friends and family desire, memorials may be made to the Prairie County Ambulance Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.

Ada McFarland
Ada Irene Taylor McFarland, 86, of Miles City died Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Parkview Care Center in Miles City.
Mrs. McFarland was born on Jan. 25, 1920, at the Herman Barthel home north of Miles City, the daughter of Alvin and Amanda Krueger Taylor. She attended Hillside primary school and graduated from high school in Cohagen in 1938.
She worked at Jordan for a short time after graduating. She worked 18 years at the local locker plant in Miles City.
She and Clyde McFarland were married Aug. 17, 1940, at her grandparents’ home in Miles City.
Mrs. McFarland loved gardening, canning and helping her husband run the Bison Bar. She also loved spending time with her four grandsons.
Her survivors include her husband, Clyde McFarland of Miles City; a son, Mickey McFarland and his wife, Marcia, of Miles City; two granddaughters, Michelle (Glen) Cunningham and Mikki Jo McFarland; and four great-grandsons, Cory and Matthew Cunningham and Casey and Jesse Clauson, all of Miles City.
Survivors also include a sister, Pansy May of Miles City; a brother Vern (Mary Lynn) Taylor of Miles City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Vic, Bud, Tex and Jim; and a sister, Lillian.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Hall, c/o McFarland Family, HC 40 Box 6121, Miles City, MT 59301.

Dorothy Gray
Dorothy Marie Gray, 89, of Miles City died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at the Cottonwood Care Home in Miles City.
Mrs. Gray was born on May 15, 1916, in Terry, the daughter of John and Ruby Mason Olson. She attended school in Mildred and graduated from Mildred High School.
She and David Gray were married on June 27, 1937, in Granite City, Ill. Following their marriage, they lived in Granite City and South Dakota for five years until returning to Montana to live in Cabin Creek near Baker.
They moved to Red Lodge in 1981 and in 1993 moved to Miles City, making their home since. Mrs. Gray moved to Cottonwood Care Home in 2001.
Survivors include her brothers, Wayne (Norma) Olson of Miles City and Dale (Luella) Olson of Red Lodge; her sister, Jean (Kermit) Torve of Rapid City, S.D.; numerous nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces; and a special care giver and niece, Bonnie Mace.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be made in Mrs. Gray’s name to the Cottonwood Care Home; 3420 Brisbin, Miles City, MT, 59301 or to the Miles City Hospice, 2600 Wilson St., Miles City, MT 59301.

Dolores Derrig
Dolores L. Derrig, 83, longtime Miles City resident, died Saturday evening, April 8, 2006, in the Billings St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Miles City, a daughter of Joseph and Pauline Perschillo Patch. She grew and received her education in Miles City, graduating from Custer County High School in 1941.
She met Edward “Eddie” Derrig, while working in California and the couple were later married in Miles City. Mrs. Derrig devoted her life to her family. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and was known throughout the area as an excellent cook, especially spaghetti and it’s sauce.
She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Parish and Town and County Club. Mrs. Derrig volunteered numerous hours at St. Vincent DePaul and assisted with the annual Sacred Heart Harvest Dinners. She enjoyed her card groups and birthday clubs. Her sense of humor is a legacy for all to remember.
Mrs. Derrig is now resting in Heaven with her beloved husband Eddy; her parents; six brothers, Frank, Jim, Joseph, Nick, Dom and Sam; and two sisters, Rose and Jen.
Her survivors include her sons, Marty and his wife Teri and Tony and his wife Sandi of Billings; her three grandchildren, Eli, Jason and Jennifer; her three great-grandchildren, Cade, Zachery and Tyler; and many friends.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in the Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Calvary cemetery.

Joe Brush
Joe Brush, 63, of Miles City died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the Deaconess Billings Clinic in Billings.
He was born Nov. 24, 1942, to Melvin and Hazel Brush in Miles City. Mr. Brush attended school in Miles City. He worked in various construction jobs in the state. Mr. Brush opened his own business, J&J Tree Service.
He had great pride in his family. Mr. Brush enjoyed making people laugh and working on lawn mowers.
His survivors include his son, Marvin (Lynne) Brush, and their daughters, Heather, Courtney and Samantha of Miles City; and a daughter, Julie (David) Sumrall, and their sons Joseph and Andrew of Heidelberg Miss.; two brothers, Ervin (Gail) Brush, Melvin “Shorty” (Judy) Brush; and two sisters, JoAnn (Dan) Menth and Louise (John) Baugatz; a sister-in-law, June Brush; a brother-in-law, David Modde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, George and LeRoy; and three sisters, Lorraine Brush, Carol Ann Modde and Joyce Brackel.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2006, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Clifford Lervick
Clifford O. Lervick, 85, of Billings, formerly of Jordan, died early Sunday, April 9, at the Deaconess Billings Clinic. He was surrounded by his nine children and his grandchildren.
Mr. Lervick was born Sept. 28, 1920, to George and Christine Lervick. He grew up on the family ranch in Garfield County. He served proudly during World War II in Italy and the Aleutian Islands as part of the 10th Mountain Division.
After the war he returned to Garfield County where he was introduced by his sisters to Rose Shawver.
The couple were married on Sept. 12, 1945, in Miles City. They lived and worked in Garfield County until 1958. At that time they moved to Billings where he worked for Midland Materials.
In 1969, they moved back to the Lervick family ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Lervick retired from the ranch in 1997 and moved to their home in the Billings Heights. Mrs. Lervick died Sept. 28, 2003.
Mr. Lervick is survived by his nine children, Melvin (Linda) Lervick of Redmond, Wash., Leonard Lervick, Roxie (Bruce) Burrows and Wanda (Doug) Beckett, all of Billings, Cathy (Roger) Redlin of Thornton, Colo., Evelyn (Allen) Halvorson of Polson, Tim (Judy) Lervick of Jordan, Sandra (Joe) Gibson of Sand Springs, and Connie (Mark) Miller of Cody, Wyo.
Survivors also include 17 grandchildren, Brent, Ryan, Shannon, Kristina, Jeana, Tom, Alyssa, Stephanie, Jamie, Ty, Christopher, Sara, Michelle, Jeff, John, Blaine and Barbie; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Kaylee.
His funeral service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Jordan.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Jordan is in charge of arrangements.
If desired, memorials may be made to the VFW Memorial Fund in Jordan.
