Richard Lee Bartsch
Richard Lee Bartsch, 65, of Miles City died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Mr. Bartsch was born on Jan. 9, 1941, in Miles City, the son of Carl LeRoy and Bessie Marie Coltrin Bartsch. He was raised and attended grade schools and high school in Miles City.
After his schooling he had done several odd jobs around Miles City as well as working at Eastern Montana Industries. Due to ill health, he moved into the Friendship Villa Care Center in April of 2005, where he had remained ever since.
He is survived by a brother, Carl Bartsch of Denver, Colo.; an aunt, Edith Allison of Miles City; an uncle, Ralph Coltrin of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ralph Bartsch; two uncles, Fred and William Bartsch; and an aunt, Evelyn Green.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Eastern Montana Industries or to the Friendship Villa Care Center.

Charles Pollard Rich
Charles Pollard Rich, 82, of Sand Springs died on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown.
Mr. Rich was born May 21, 1924, in Melstone to Lawrence E. Rich and Janet Pollard Rich. He attended rural schools in Garfield County, often taught by his mother.
He worked on the airport in Lewistown before going to the shipyards in Portland, Ore., in 1942-43. He attended cadet school in San Mateo, Calif., then transferred to the Merchant Marines. He sailed on cargo ships until 1950, traveling around the world seven times.
Mr. Rich and Pohney Hill were married on Dec. 13, 1947. They had four children, Kenny (Linda) Rich, Charlene Rich Schuster, Alvin (Denise) Rich and Bonnie Rich Jessen.
He worked at the Jet Fuel Refinery at Mosby for 20 years while also working part time at the family ranch at Sand Springs. He returned to the ranch fulltime in 1973. Mr. Rich retired in 1996 when the ranch sold to Kenny. He served on the school board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Montana Stockgrowers for 54 years.
His survivors include his wife, four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his brother, Clancy (Ann) Rich; and his sister, Beverly Lorie.
Mr. Rich was recently preceded in death by his granddaughter-in-law and great-granddaughter, Nicole and Alauna Rich.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the Pioneer cemetery in Jordan.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be sent to the Northern Rockies Mountain Cancer Center in Billings or to the charity of one’s choice.

Agnes Johanna Weinschrott Munsell
Agnes Johanna Weinschrott Munsell, 86, dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at the Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City on Sunday, July 2, 2006.
Mrs. Munsell was born in Plevna on Aug. 31, 1919, to John Weinschrott and Frances Herold. She attended schools in Plevna, helped run the family hardware store and played the piano and church organ.
At the University of Montana in Missoula, she was a member of the Mortar Board Society, Delta Delta Delta sorority and Spurs Sophomore Honorary.
She and Wes Munsell were married more than 66 years ago on Oct. 15, 1939, in Plevna. They moved to the Munsell Ranch near Baker where their three oldest children were born. In 1946, the couple moved to Miles City, where they made their home for the past 60 years, and where their remaining seven children were born.
Mr. Munsell was engaged in the livestock industry as owner-operator of Miles City Packing Company, the Munsell Ranch and Munsell Livestock.
Mrs. Munsell had a special love for children. In addition to nurturing her family, Mrs. Munsell was energetically involved in Sacred Heart Parish and numerous community interests. She was active in the Parish Council, Sacristans, Eucharistic Minister, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, St. Joseph, St. Ann and St. Francis Circles of the Altar Society, and the Sacred Heart PTA.
For many years she volunteered at Miles City’s two nursing homes, Holy Rosary Hospital as a Pink Lady and Advisory Board member, and St. Vincent de Paul where she was a founding member and volunteer. Mrs. Munsell was a member of the Miles City Club, Sage Riders, Range Riders Reps and CowBelles. She valued her friends in a sewing circle, bridge clubs, birthday groups and breakfast groups.
Mrs. Munsell was an elegant lady who treated others with great kindness. She loved entertaining; an accomplished cook, she continually tried new recipes while preparing nutritious and balanced meals.
She was well known for her prolific perennial flower gardens. Mr. Munsell frequently dug up plants to be shared with family and friends throughout the region. Mrs. Munsell thoroughly took pleasure in playing games of all types, and recently took up crossword puzzles with her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Munsell danced at every opportunity.
Mrs. Munsell enjoyed handicrafts; she was most proud of her needlepoint. In recent years she annually created, adorned and gifted dozens of linen note cards that are prized by their recipients.
The couple’s book of dates includes a lengthy list of family and friends around the nation who received greetings for birthdays, anniversaries and also sympathy cards. Mr. and Mrs. Munsell traveled throughout the United States, visiting family and friends; they also toured numerous foreign countries.
Her survivors include her husband, boyfriend and sweetheart, Wes; and by all of their 10 children (and spouses) including Russell Munsell (Suki) of San Anselmo, Calif., Suzanne Munsell Keller (Larry) of Edmond, Okla., Judith Munsell Burgher (Gary) of Lake Oswego, Ore., John Munsell (Kathryn) of Miles City, Mary Munsell of Billings, Sally Munsell of Klamath Falls, Ore., Janice Munsell (Randy Spear) of Billings, Joseph Munsell (Cori) of Rolla, Mo., Deborah Munsell of Billings, and Richard Munsell (Becky) of Redmond, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Muth; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. One brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law also survive Mrs. Munsell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, John, Anna, Frances, Joe, Helen and Charles.
A Rosary Vigil will be Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the Calvary cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Parish, the Range Riders Museum or a favorite charity.

Lawrence "Hoolie" Edwards
Lawrence “Hoolie” Edwards, 87, of Jordan died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility in Miles City.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1918, at Haxby Point, the son of George and DeEtta King Edwards. He was raised and attended country schools in the area and together with his wife of 61 years, Kathleen “Billy” DeBock, have lived and ranched on the Haxby Point up until the present time.
Mr. Edwards will be remembered for all the good times spent dancing and listening to him playing the fiddle, accompanied by his wife on the piano or accordion. Their home was always a welcome place. Their many friends from all walks of life and places knew when they left they had met good people. Mr. Edwards’ life revolved around his wife and his ranch on the Haxby Point where he was the happiest.
His survivors include his wife, “My Lady Kathleen” of Jordan; his special family, Jay and Gail Twitchell and their family, Travis, Troy and Toni, special friends Duncan, Scotty and Donald McDonald, Carla and Gene Christianson, his brother-in-law, Jim DeBock and his wife Evie of Cody, Wyo., his sister-in-law, Joan Frady of Jordan, his nieces Patricia Perkins, Deanna Murnion, Nina Bundy, Terry Stratton, Viny Lufborough, Velma Rice, Della Jane Jarrett, DeEtta Edwards and Marci Scarlett and his nephews John Frady and Kelly, David and Scott DeBock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Monte and King Edwards.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the Pioneer cemetery at Jordan.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.

Lenis Lou Dolan Jones
Lenis Lou Dolan Jones, 72, of Longview, Ark., died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Pine Bluff, Ark.
She was born April 3, 1934, in Malta, a daughter of Maxine Pope Parks of Crossett, Ark., and the late Clifford Kuhr.
She was a homemaker, a Baptist and widow of two former husbands, Chester Douglas Dolan II and John Jones. Also preceding her in death was a son, Chester Douglas Dolan III.
Her survivors include her mother; a daughter, Jana Dolan of Warren, Ark.; a brother, Monty Kuhr of Puyallup, Wash.; and three grandchildren, one of whom lives in the Miles City area, Kristy Strider, Freddie Hatfield and spouse, Susan Baker Hatfield and Troy Sellers.

Harriet Clausen Bagley
Harriet Clausen Bagley, 100, of Miles City died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Eagles Manor in Miles City.
Mrs. Bagley was born in Hoboken, N.J., on Dec. 16, 1905, the daughter of Dr. Bernard and Mary Chancellor Clausen. The family moved to Binghamton, N.Y., where she attended schools.
She held a bachelor’s degree in science from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, Pa. and a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City.
She taught home economics for three years, then was county agent in the Extension Service for 21 years in New York and Fremont County in Lander, Wyo.
On July 11, 1952, she and Joseph L. Bagley were married in Lander. They moved to Miles City in 1960.
In former years, she had been active in the American Association of University Women, Yellowstone Agate Club and Highland Park Congregational Church. She was a member of the Custer County Art Center and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Her survivors include a step-son, Robert Bagley of McMinnville, Ore.; 10 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; a step-son, Clarence in 1997; and four brothers.
Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2006, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be at a later date in the Mount Hope cemetery in Lander.

Russell Martin
Russell J. Martin, 58, of Miles City died Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.
Mr. Martin was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Billings, the son of Sam and Emma Skalka Martin. He was raised and attended schools in Billings, graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1966.
On Dec. 9, 1966, he and Deborah Ann Blasing were married in Billings. To this union was born a daughter, Barbara, and a son, Robert.
Mr. Martin joined the United States Navy and served for six years, he was based in San Diego and served a tour in Vietnam as a telecommunications expert from May 19, 1967, to January 12, 1973. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
Following his honorable discharge, he was employed by San Diego Mountain Bell, and the following year he transferred to Miles City. He worked for Mountain Bell, now known as Qwest Communications, for 33 years. He was faithful and proud of his work with Qwest. He and his wife were divorced in 1976.
Mr. Martin belonged to a bowling league, a dart league and the Miles City Chapter AA. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a great father and grandfather and was a special friend to all who knew him.
His survivors include his two children, Barbara Highsmith of Sidney and Robert Martin of Miles City; his sisters, Emma L. Martin of Billings, Margaret Martin of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Meridith Wethington of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Samuel Martin of Canon City, Colo.; his grandchildren, Nicole Martin and Taylor Highsmith of Sidney, Cora Highsmith of Washington, Rosie Highsmith of Sidney, Christina Highsmith of South West City, Mo., and Matthew Highsmith of Glendive; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Samantha Wethington of Phoenix; a nephew, Tom Martin of Helena; two great-nephews; and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 24, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Miles City. Interment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Patricia "Trish" Marie Kerby
Patricia “Trish“ Marie Kerby, 70, of Billings, formerly of Miles City, died after a short illness at her home on Friday, June 22, 2012.
She was born in Broadus on March 12, 1942, to Charles and Alberta Fredrickson.
She was instrumental in the Public Broadcasting Service’s (PBS) Nature film documentaries “Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies.“ She was educated in sociology, psychology and art. She spent time as a Film Location Scout, Culinary Specialist for ranch events, and a real estate agent although her heart belonged to the wild horses of the Pryor mountains, her German shepherds, and eventually her grandchildren.
Her survivors include her long time friend of 14 years, Tony Miller; sons, Charles A. Miller and Timothy I. Miller; her grandchildren, Charlie, Alicia, Brandy, Samantha, and Heather; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Fredrickson; niece, Roberta Kercheval Roswell; sister, Elaine Schlautmann; her father, Charlie Fredrickson; and her mother, Alberta Fredrickson.
A memorial service will be in Riverfront Park in Billings on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.

Following cremation, ashes will be spread in the Pryor Mountains and at the family homestead near Broadus.

Bertha Hanna Craven
Bertha Hanna Craven, age 87, of Miles City died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Mrs. Craven was born in Windsor, N.D., on May 7, 1925, the daughter of Oscar and Josephine (Goodroad) Olson. She was raised in Windsor until 1936, when the family moved to the Huntley Project area where she lived until 1955.
She married Fred Craven on January 22, 1955 in Red Lodge. Following their marriage, they lived in Billings, where they owned and operated Beauty Vent Awning Company during the 1950s and 1960s. Starting in the late 1960s, the couple lived in Phoenix, Ariz., where they enjoyed their lake home and house boat on Lake Powell.
Following the passing of Fred in 1992, she moved back to Billings to be closer to family and friends. In 2006, due to failing health, Mrs. Craven made her home in Miles City. Her family is grateful for the care she received at the Friendship Villa.
Mrs. Craven is survived by a brother, Donald (Shirley) Olson of Evansville, Wyo.; a sister, Esther Knaub of Worden, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; three brothers: Clarence, Albert and Martin; and five sisters: Marjorie, Dorothy, Elenora, Lucille and LaVera.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View cemetery in Ballantine. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
