Joan Victoria Harn
Joan Victoria Harn, 62, of Miles City died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, in Billings, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Harn was born on Aug. 13, 1945, the daughter of Roy and Mary Strom. She grew up in Seattle, Wash., and also attended schools in Seattle.
In November 1966, she married Larry Harn. In 1969, they moved to Miles City and raised their two cherished children, Patrick and Lisa. During those years, Mrs. Harn was employed at the Miles City Star, Stockman Bank and Plains to Sea Constructions, until the time of her death.
Her biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Patrick of Billings, and his children, Amber, Alisha and A.J., all of Miles City; her daughter, Lisa Perkins of Miles City and her children, Renn and Richelle, both of Miles City; and a step-son, Matt of Seattle.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be addressed to Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.

Diane Marisa Flower Fisher
Diane Marisa Flower Fisher, 44, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Miles City, died in her sleep on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007.
Born April 5, 1963, in Madrid, Spain, she was adopted as an infant and lived in Spain for a year before returning to the United States with her family. She spent most of her growing-up years in Miles City.
She graduated from Custer County District High School in 1981 and then moved to Denver, Colo., where she met and later married David Fisher. They have two sons, Brandon, 21, and Bryce, 15, who reside in Grand Forks, N.D.
She loved craft-making, gardening, cooking/baking/canning, and her beloved pets. She enjoyed singing with her special friend of many years, Herron Nelson and she especially loved her boys and was so proud of them.
Plagued by illness throughout her life, she spent her final years confined to a wheelchair while living in Spokane, hoping for the day she might walk again.
Her survivors include her parents, Judson and Juanita Flower, long-time residents of Miles City now living in Billings; her sons, Brandon and Bryce; her sister, Joan Rudd of Bellingham, Wash.; and two brothers, Thomas, currently working and living with his family in Kuwait; and Benjamin of Snoqualmie, Wash.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the LDS Chapel, 825 Moorehead Ave. in Miles City. Burial will follow in the Custer County cemetery.

Susan Eileen Spear
Funeral services for Susan Eileen Spear, 53, of Helena, were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2007, in the United Methodist Church in Helena.
Mrs. Spear died peacefully of natural causes Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, in Helena.
She was born June 30, 1954, the daughter of Myrtle Virginia and Fred Albert Geisser of Townsend.
Despite multiple long-term medical problems, which prevented her from finishing nurse training at Montana State University-Bozeman, she shared her smile and her radiance with her family and friends throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Spear of Helena, former Miles City resident; and her children, Jennifer O. Lynn Floerchinger of Helena, Lucas O. James Floerchinger of Bozeman; and Ensign Jessica O. Leigh Floerchinger, currently stationed at Bethesda, Md.
Survivors also include her mother; her sisters, Carol Lorz of Townsend and Penny Hohn of Auburn, Wash.; her brothers, John Geisser of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mark Geisser of Statesboro, Ga., and Fred Geisser of Townsend, and all of their extended families; her first husband, father of her children, Larry Floerchinger; and her step-children, Rachel Baker of Arlington, Va., and Michael and Christopher Spear, both of Williamsburg, Va.
Preceding her in death were her father and her brothers, Robert Geisser and Fred Halliday.
Cremation was under the direction of Anderson Cremation Services of Helena.
The family prefers memorials to one of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home in Helena.

Catherine "Kay" E. Cridland
Catherine “Kay” E. Cridland, 74, died Sunday, August 12, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on June 20, 1933, in Miles City, the daughter of Arthur and Sally (Frankfurter) Pembroke. She grew up attending schools in Miles City and married Leonard Cridland on June 24, 1950, in Miles City.
In 1968 they moved to Billings and then to Bozeman and Belgrade for Mr. Cridland’s job. In 1971 they moved to Alaska, living there for three years on the Alaska-Canada Border. They returned to the lower United States in 1974 to Sandpoint.
Her early years in Sandpoint were spent tending bar at the Tam and working for Modern Cleaners as a seamstress. Mrs. Cridland was a wonderful seamstress and decided to stay at home to raise her five children. She knitted numerous sweaters with various designs for all her family and friends, as well as making prom and wedding dresses.
Mrs. Cridland was an excellent cook, always making meals for her family. She enjoyed watching television and her favorite programs were Court T.V., and Walker Texas Ranger. She was an avid reader, especially Louis LaMour and romance books. When her eyesight failed to the point that she could no longer read she listened to books on tape.
She had a special love for her dog “Muffin.”
Mrs. Cridland was a former member of the Eagles Lodge from 1965 to 2005 enjoying 40 years of fellowship.
She is survived by her daughters, Teri Thompson, Debbie (Bill) Ervin and Alesia (Chris) Schafer, all of Sandpoint, and Anita (Bob) Byers of Ponderay, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Corine Cridland of Spokane, Wasah.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Pembroke of Gaylord, Mich., and Harold (Val) Pembroke of Helena; and two sisters, Mary Graham of Helena and Bunny (Rich) Numberg of Wibaux.
Mrs. Cridland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; son, Ed; and a grandson, Leonard Byers.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Ave. in Sandpoint. Pastor Jon Pomeroy and Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating.

Mary Elizabeth Ronning
Mary Elizabeth Ronning, 93, of Miles City died at the Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1913, at her parents’ homestead at Rock Springs. She, as well as her family, lived a life of hard times, hard work, cold winters and hot summers through her growing-up years. They developed strong value systems and high principles which carried them through the years to come.
She married Peter Ronning, a Norwegian immigrant who was homesteading at Angela. Although she was very young, she was a devoted wife, and the young couple formed strong friendships in the community and offered hospitality to many visitors.
Soon two sons, Peter Jr. and Alan, were born to them. In 1937 they moved to Jordan, where Mr. Ronning managed the Farmer’s Union Service Station. When help was hard to find in those war years, Mrs. Ronning pumped gas, checked oil, filled tires and counted ration stamps, besides taking care of her household. She always supported her husband in all his endeavors. During this time, daughter Carol Lynn and three more sons, Arvid, Oscar, and Leif, were added to the family.
In the early 1950s, the family moved to Miles City where Mr. Ronning was a car salesman for Ford Motor Company. Due to family circumstances, Mrs. Ronning began working nights at the 10 Spot Café as a waitress and cook, still carrying on with home chores and nurturing her large, active family.
After working at the Custer County Rest Home as a nurses aide for some years, she qualified for a position at the Veterans Hospital, which she held until her retirement. When health began to fail in her mid-80s, she gave up the family home to reside at Eagles Manor and then at Friendship Villa in the last two years.
Her survivors include her daughter Carol Brakke and husband Grayson; sons Alan and his wife Beverly, Arvid and his wife Linda, Oscar and his wife Donna, and Leif and his wife Alice; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister Frances.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete; their son, Peter; her Swedish immigrant parents, Lars and Maria Meyer; and brothers Carl, Rudolph, Hilding and Eric.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Grace Bible Church.

Harold "Glen" Mader
Harold “Glen” Mader, 64, of Broadus died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, in Broadus after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Mader was born in Broadus on May 12, 1943, the son of John Thomas and Gayetta Maurine Kellogg Mader. He attended grade school at Bay Horse Country School and graduated from Powder River High School in 1960. He attended Eastern Montana College at Billings where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1966.
He and Karen Richards were married in 1960. They later divorced and he married Marjorie Schneidt Potter on Dec. 30, 1970, in Miami, Okla.
Mr. Mader started teaching at Huckins School in Powder River County, Powder River County High School and various other schools, returning to school at Montana State University-Bozeman where he received his master’s degree in school administration.
After working in Circle and Broadus, he took early retirement in the late ’70s and became a licensed realtor and broker, constructing and selling Kober Homes.
In 1988, he recertified his degree at MSU and served as Superintendent of Schools in Hinsdale and Wibaux until his second retirement in 1997.
After returning to Broadus and wintering in Yuma, Ariz., he was persuaded into serving as the Broadus Elementary School principal and then took the position as Superintendent of Schools at Powder River County High School. After his third and final retirement, Broadus became home and they spent the winters of 2003-2005 in Yuma.
Mr. Mader loved to rope in his younger years, but his passion in life was playing music. He was an excellent musician, mastering the banjo, fiddle, mandolin, keyboard, bass and guitar. As a child, he would fall asleep in bed while practicing on his banjo. He made and sold his own music tapes. He traveled many miles to play music with his family and friends, and was a member of the Eastern Montana Fiddlers.
He loved to fly his plane, travel in his RV with his wife, Marge, and go camping with his kids. He also loved the ranch where he grew up near Biddle, and spent many hours helping his dad and brother Dave hay and work cattle.
Mr. Mader coached basketball and football and was himself an athlete in his high school days. He was involved in the Commercial Club in Broadus and the Montana High School Association. He could often be found shooting the breeze and drinking coffee with his buddies at the Corner Store.
His survivors include his wife, Marjorie Mader of Broadus; his mother, Maurine Mader of Broadus; a son, Gary (Brandy) Potter of Livingston; three daughters: Robin (Ross) Mader Campbell of Billings, Pamela (Chan) Potter Libbey of Livingston, and Connie (Kevin) Potter Frame of Missoula; three brothers: Tom Mader of Cheyenne, Wyo., Doug Mader of Tulsa, Okla., and Dave Mader of Biddle; two sisters: Mina Chapman of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Patsy Sabra of Omaha, Neb.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Mader in 2000 and his son, Terry Glen Mader in 1984.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Powder River County High School Gymnasium in Broadus. Interment will follow in the Mader Family cemetery near Biddle. A luncheon will follow at 2 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Broadus. Everyone who has a musical instrument is asked to bring it to the reception to participate in music.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caring Hands at the First Bank of Broadus, 201 N. Wilbur, Broadus, MT 59317.

Edna A. Krausz Lindbo
Edna A. Krausz Lindbo, 68, of Glendive, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at her home in Glendive.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1938, in Baker, the daughter of Christian and Pauline Vogele Krausz. In 1944, she moved with her family to Glendive where she attended school.
She and Robert James Wilmot were married in 1957 in Glendive. Her primary employer in her life was the Jordan Hotel where she worked for many years in housekeeping. After a short hiatus in her working career, she returned to the Jordan Hotel and was employed in the kitchen for another 15 years.
Mrs. Lindbo enjoyed attending the Dawson County Fair. She enjoyed musical movies, listening to western music and jitterbug dancing.
Her survivors include her sons, Robert Wilmot of Miles City and Gary Wilmot of Antioch, Calif.; her daughters, Tammy Dahl and her husband Dale of Rapid City, S.D., and Nancy Johnston and her husband Cedric of Glendive; her sisters, Violet Madsen of Savage and Marlene Kassner and her husband Everett of Glendive; her grandchildren, Samantha, Robert, David, Matt, Amy, Michelle and Darcy; and one great-grandchild, Chris.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Pastor Dan Pust officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery in Glendive.

Daniel "Dan the Man" Bastian
Daniel “Dan the Man” Bastian, 17, of Miles City died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007. He left this earth from the arms of his parents to be with the Lord.
He was born on March 20, 1990, in Miles City, the son of Jim and Cathy Bastian. He attended school in Miles City and because of his special teachers and aides he was able to spend many years in a regular first and second grade classroom. He especially loved Sherri Henderson, Kara Mader, Cheri McAulay and Jennie Hilderman, as well as Harriet Carroll, Cindy Thompson and Curtis Rose.
Danny was a special boy. He was a miracle boy from the moment he was born. Without the tender loving care of his beloved Dr. Young, nurses and medical staff Daniel wouldn’t have blessed his family and friends for 17 years. His ever present smile and good heartedness will be remembered. He now loves riding his bike, with his friend Trent Schreiber, and running and jumping with his big sister Wendy.
Danny is survived by his parents, Jim and Cathy Bastian of Miles City; his grandparents, Alice Weyerbacher of Miles City; his brothers and sisters, Amber Bastian of Miles City, Karin and Scott Helmig of Billings, Megan Bastian of Fargo, N.D., Chris and Cassie Bastian of Casselton, N.D., and Tim Bastian of Miles City; along with his nieces and nephews, Marissa, Harrison and Isaac Helmig, all of Billings, and Emma Bastian of Casselton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elwyn and Evelyn Bastian and Ralph Weyerbacher; and a sister, Wendy Bastian.
The family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City and friends are invited to come and sign Danny’s casket at this time. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Grace Bible Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a fund for the purchase of “The Vest” system, a portable easy-to-use airway clearance device for the Holy Rosary Healthcare care of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home, 1717 Main St., Miles City, MT 59301 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Reva Schye
Reva Schye, 85, of Miles City died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Schye was born on Sept. 29, 1922, one of six children born to Norman and Bertha Rost. She graduated from high school at Ollie.
On Nov. 20, 1945, she married Garry Schye of Ismay. She worked as a teller for several years at the 1st National Bank in Miles City, until she and her husband moved to Hardin to operate the Allis Chalmers dealership. Upon retiring they returned to Miles City.
Mrs. Schye always had beautiful yards and colorful flowers she grew. She also exhibited strength in difficult situations.
Her survivors include her son Garry Carter Schye of Miles City; her sisters, Rose Norman of Livingston and Alice Bandy (Vern) of Bozeman; and a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garry; her son, Craig; her parents; a sister, Irene Smeltzer; and her brothers, Tubby and Mervin Rost. A very special person to Reva and her family has been Dennis Mullen, who has taken responsibility for her care during her illness.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
Memorials may be given to the Range Riders Museum or the Disabled American Veterans.

Shirley Smith
Shirley Smith, 74, of rural Hitchcock, S.D., formerly of Miles City, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls, S.D.

Mrs. Smith was born Shirley Lois Vogt on Jan. 10, 1933, to Herbert and Marjorie Elsworth (True) Vogt at Prospect Valley, Colo. She attended Westwood Elementary School and West High School.
On Nov. 5, 1949, she and Paul Stanton Smith were married at Denver, Colo. She lived in the Denver area from 1933 until 1982 when they moved to Fort Lupton, Colo. In 1997, they moved to Woonsocket and in 2002 they moved to Miles City. In 2007, they moved to rural Hitchcock, S.D. For the last 30 years she had been an auction owner and antique dealer.
Her hobbies and interests were the Denver Broncos, cooking, country music, gambling and taking care of family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of rural Hitchcock; two children, Paula (Ronnie) Morganflash of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Hal (Chris) Smith of rural Hitchcock; six grandchildren, Jason (Juanita) Smith, Shahn (Marianna) Morganflash, Eric (Dawn) Smith, Brett Morganflash, Sara (Rafael) Smith and Amie (Charlie) Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Jeanne Bell of Billings, Joan Epperly of Silt, Colo., Kim (Cookie) List of Fairplay, Colo., and Kandy Kimble of Wheatridge, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron, S.D., with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating.
The Welter Funeral Home of Huron is in charge of arrangements.
