James William Genty
James William Genty, 69, of Sparks, Nev., and a native of Miles City, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, in Sparks.
His survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Genty of Santa Rosa; sons James Genty and wife Carin of Corona, Calif., and Anthony Genty of Westminster, Calif.; and grandchildren Aaron and Harrison.
Private services will be held.
Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1400 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
Daniels Chapel of the Roses Funeral and Cremation Services in Santa Rosa is in charge of arrangements.

Vera Kenitzer
Vera Kenitzer, 92, died at Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility early on Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 2007.
Mrs. Kenitzer was born on Jan. 30, 1915, in Cheraton, Iowa, to parents Theodore and Mildred Bates Percifield. She was raised on her family homestead at Gillette, Wyo., and attended school there.
On Jan. 9, 1932, she and Victor Harold Kenitzer were married in Broadus. They raised their seven children in Midwest Wyoming, Los Angeles and Fresno, Calif.
Mrs. Kenitzer was employed at Fresno State College until she retired. They moved back to Buffalo, Wyo., and then to Glenrock, Wyo.
Mr. Kenitzer died on Sept. 21, 1987, in Casper, Wyo. Mrs. Kenitzer lived in Glenrock until 1992. With the help of a few special family members, she moved to Miles City to be close to her sons, Danny and Rick.
She was a snowbird for many years. She wintered in Arizona and California with her sons Mike, Jerry and Larry during the cold months and came home for summers.
Mrs. Kenitzer loved to crochet and read and she loved to travel. Her favorite pastime was to rock her grandchildren. She loved to bake and cook for her family. She spent many years camping, fishing and hunting with her husband and children. She loved to dance and play cards.
Her survivors include sons Jerry, Larry (Tammy), Mike (Betty), Danny (Dori) and Rick (Leslie) and daughter Vickie (Lenard) Hunt; two sisters Ruth (Bud) Edwards and Ann (Bob) Rourke; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by many nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law: Mossie, Shirley and Pat Percifield.
Mrs. Kenitzer was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Mildred Percifield; her husband, Victor; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Ted, Ralph and Bill Percifield; and one son, Victor Edward Kenitzer.
Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyo. Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette.
Remembrances may be sent to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Lee "Gene" Beeler
Lee “Gene” Beeler, 77, of Stevensville died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1930, at Biddle.
His mother, father and two sons, Gary and Mike, preceded him death.
Mr. Beeler is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 35 years; three sons, Dan of Hamilton, Rick of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bob of Corvallis; six step-children; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was the brother of Merna Martelle and Wayne Beeler of Miles City and Corky Beeler of Auburn, Wash.
Mr. Beeler lived in Miles City for may years, working at various jobs.
No services are planned at this time.

Staff Sergeant Yance Tell Gray
Staff Sergeant Yance Tell Gray, age 26, of Raeford, NC, formerly of Ismay, was killed in action while serving with the United States Army, stationed in Iraq on Sept. 10, 2007. He was a member of Charlie Troop (1/73 Cav) 1st Battalion, 325 Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
Mr. Gray was born on August 4, 1981, in Miles City, to Richard and Karen (Parr-Griebel) Gray. He attended Whitney Creek country school through the 7th grade and graduated from Plevna High School in the spring of 2000. In June of 2000, Mr. Gray proudly entered the United States Army. He had completed three active tours of duty, in both Iraq and Afghanistan, his fourth to be completed in November of 2007.
Mr. Gray was born to be a solider. As a young boy, he wore out his Grampa Gray’s old army uniform. At about 5 years old he came to his parents and told them, “Mom and Dad, I know what I want be when I grow up, a ranger in the 82nd Airborne.” He succeeded in his goal, receiving his Ranger Tab among other various leadership schools and awards to include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign, Iraq Campaign, Global War Expeditionary Award, Global War Service Award, NCO Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Infantrymen’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist’s Badge, and Expert Rifleman’s Badge.
Mr. Gray was introduced to his future wife, Jessica Duncan, while at home on leave. After a courtship extending two combat tours, he and Jessica were married on August 6, 2004. Their love was special; very deep for each other and were the best of friends. He would always tell Jessica “our love can make it through anything that they can throw at us.” He and Jessica had their first baby Ava Madison Gray on April 3, 2007. He was unable to be there but sat on speakerphone from Iraq the entire time cheering Jessica on. He was able to meet his daughter four days after she was born and had an amazing 14 days as a new daddy; reading to her, telling her how beautiful she was, and taking so many pictures to bring back to Iraq with him. He was incredibly excited to come home finally and “be with my new little family.”
He was his happiest when he was giving to others and was a protector to all he knew. He would never show if he was hurting; always trying to be there for others first.
He is survived by his wife Jessica and their infant daughter Ava Madison Gray, 5 months, of Raeford, NC; his parents Richard and Karen Gray of Ismay; his brother Borden and his wife Erica and their children Caiden and Ella of Miles City; his sister Beth and her husband Dax Muri, and their children Orin and Tailey of Ismay; his grandparents, Robert and Betty Gray of Ismay; grandfather Wesley Parr; grandparents Rodney and Margie Griebel; Jessica’s parents Wade and Tricia Alexander of Rosebud and Kenn and Carol Duncan of Rapid City, SD; his brother-in-law Jeremiah Duncan serving with the US Navy Seabees in Korea, and sister-in-law Tiffany and her husband Brad Ricci of Fairbanks, AK; grandmother-in-law Betty Howell of Dallas, TX; grandparents-in-law Bob and Pat Duncan of Debary, FL. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his grandmother Marjorie Askin.
Funeral and graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at 2 pm in Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, VA with full military rites and honors. The family is asking stories about Tell and condolences be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com to be placed in a memorial book for his daughter Ava to have about her Daddy.

Mary Lou Torstenbo
Mary Lou Torstenbo, age 62, of Miles City died at the St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings on Sept. 12, 2007 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Torstenbo was born on Nov. 20, 1944 in Lewistown to William Glenn and Lulu Mae (Alexander) Potterf. As a young girl, she attended schools in Hilger, Hobson, and Harlowton. Following graduation, she worked for the Pepsi Cola Plant in Billings.
On Aug. 25, 1962 she and Larry Torstenbo were married in Lewistown and lived in Billings before moving to Terry in 1964. He taught while she worked as a cook at the Prairie Community Hospital until 1969. They moved to Muncie, Indiana where Mrs. Torstenbo babysat for a short time while he was going to school. In 1970, they moved to Miles City where they have resided since. She worked at the Holy Rosary Hospital and the V.A. Hospital as a cook.
Mrs. Torstenbo was an avid crafter who enjoyed working with her hands. She was a gifted woman who enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and knitting. She loved spending time with her family and she adored her grandchildren. Her favorite moments were spent camping, fishing, hunting and especially playing cards with Larry and her family.
Mrs. Torstenbo is survived by her husband of 45 years, sons Kurtiss (Nancy) Torstenbo of Rawlings, WY, Shawn Torstenbo of Miles City, daughter Traci (Kyle) Kellum of Billings, two sisters; Irene (Bob) McNees of Great Falls, Beverly (Mel) Taurman of Lewistown, brother-in-law Jack Craig of Christina, and six grandchildren; Shyler, Connor, Taylor and Braden Torstenbo and Kailee and Kanzas Kellum. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Glenna Craig.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 with a vigil service at 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 a 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be sent to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com .
Should friends desire, memorials may be sent to the family c/o Larry Torstenbo, 403 South Center, Miles City, MT, 59301 for a memorial scholarship to be established in Mary Lou’s name at the Miles Community College.

Evelyn Billing
Evelyn Billing, age 90, of Jordan, MT died at the Garfield County Health Center in Jordan.
Mrs. Billing was born in Bottineau, North Dakota on January 3, 1917 to Byron and Mamie (Cummings) Burghart. As a child, she lived in Minnesota until she was 12 and the family moved to Huntley Project. She finished her school, graduating from Huntley Project High school. Mrs. Billing attended Eastern Normal School in Billings where she earned her teaching certificate. Following her graduation, she taught at Crow Rock. Evelyn and Ross Abner Billing were married on December 16, 1938 in Miles City. They made their home in Jordan working for various ranches while
Mrs. Billing taught school until they moved back to the Billing family ranch near Jordan, MT where Evelyn continued to teach while raising her family. She enjoyed living on the ranch until 2003 when she moved into the Garfield County Nursing Home due to ill health.
Mrs. Billing is survived by two sons; Randy (Pearl) Billing of Jordan, MT, Monte (Judy) Billing of Jordan, MT, daughter-in-law Terry of Rosebud, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burghart, May Billing, Mary Billing and Este Billing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ross in 1996, infant son Barry in 1951 and son Don Billing, a brother, Merlin Burghart, a sister, Hazel Kerr, eight brothers-in-law; Bob Kerr, Howard, Curtis, Bill and Bruce Billing, Homer Hansard, Les Grant and Pete Pidal, and four sisters-in-law; Ruth Pidal, Mary Hansard, Teresa Billing, and Edith Grant.
Mrs. Billing will always be remembered for her love of music. She and her husband were known for their musical talents as the played for many local get togethers over the years. She loved to garden and take produce to the fair and bazaars. Cooking and feeding her family and friends gave her great joy. Evelyn was a charter member of the Maids of All Trades Home Demonstration Club for several years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 1 to 6pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 10:00 am at the VFW Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the Pioneer cemetery. A potluck luncheon will be served at the hall after the graveside service. Stories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.stevensonandsons.com .

Wilfrid "Willy" John King
Wilfrid “Willy” John King, age 82, of Miles City died on September 9, 2007 at the VA Nursing Home in Miles City.
Mr. King was born on May 7, 1925 in Miles City to Theodore and Helen King. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High School where he played six-man football and basketball. He graduated high school in 1942 at the age of 16. After working for the Milwaukee Railroad for a year, he joined the United States Army. He served as a sergeant with the 42nd Infantry, Rainbow Division in the European and African Theaters. Willy received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in action on January 25, 1945. He was honorably discharged April 20, 1946.
He moved to Billings to be closer to his girl, soon to be wife, Connie Croy. Willy and Connie were married in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Billings, on April 26, 1946. They lived in Billings until 1949 when they moved to Miles City. During his working years he worked as a salesman for Charlie Hatch, co-owned K and M Auto Parts, worked for Deluxe Motors, Love Motors and Hardesty Real Estate. He retired in 1995.
Mr. King was the first president to the Sacred Heart Roundtable. He coached little league baseball; he belonged to the bowling league and the pool league. He won several broomstick tournaments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Mr. King is survived by his wife of 60 years, sons: Patrick, Michael (Suzanne) and Don (Deb), daughters: Christine (Dave) Sullivan, and Camille (Dwayne) Rude, nine grandchildren and night great-grandchildren, and his sister Colleen Portwine. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and one son.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 with a vigil service at 6:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow in the Eastern Montana Veteran’s cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1579.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Ervin Gaub
Ervin Gaub, age 77, of Miles City died on September 7, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Unit in Miles City.
Mr. Gaub was born on September 25, 1929, at Marsh, Mont., the son of Gottlieb G. and Magdalena (Hein) Gaub. He went to school at Marsh and worked for his dad taking care of the farm.
He married Esther Horst on September 21, 1934 in Fallon, Mont. They left the farm and moved around Eastern Montana, where he drove for the Farmers Union and Cenex for 35 years.
A man who stayed busy and had many interests, he was also the manager, owned a service station, worked the grain elevator and drove beet truck.
He married Virinda Ellen on May 29, 1984 in Baker, Mont. They lived in Lodge Grass and Shelby for a short time before returning to Miles City, where he has remained ever since.
Mr. Gaub loved visiting with people. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making projects for children.
He is survived by his wife, Virinda Gaub of Miles City; his children: Mark (Menjie) Gaub of Great Falls, Mont., Corinne (Xzlmar) Anderson of Billings, Mont., Curtis Gaub of Miles City and Patricia Gaub of Miles City; step-children: Annette (Purley) Moore of Dickinson, N.D., Jane Hoff of Billings and Harland (Christine) Harvey of Idaho.
He is survived by eight siblings: Melisena Reidinger of Billings; Ed (Dollie) Gaub of Terry, Mont.; Ruth Carlson of Livingston, Mont.; Marion (Pete) Anderson of Shephard, Mont.; Edith (Ken) Rinker of Lewistown, Minn.; Dalyce (Don) Recard of Terry; Jeanette (Marty) O'Dea of Miles City; and Miles (Isabel) Gaub of Miles City. Sixteen grandchildren also survive him: Earl, Yesmine, Mike, Brandy, Joshua, Paul, Benjamin, Dustin, Darrin, Brandon, Brook, Anjel, Brittnee, Marcus, Crystal and Aaron; and eight great-grandchildren, with the ninth on the way.
Mr. Gaub was preceded in death by his parents Magdalena and Gottlieb, first wife Esther in 1989, and brothers-in-law Sonny Carlson and Rudy Reidinger.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Debra June (Bair) Wagner
Debra June (Bair) Wagner, age 51, of Miles City died on September 8, 2007 at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City after long illness.
Mrs. Wagner was born to Ralph and Lola Bair on March 20, 1956 in Miles City. She attended school in Miles City. After school she attended nursing school and worked as a nurse in Harlowton.
She was blessed with three children. In 1981 while working as a cook on the Crow Rock Ranch at Miles City, she met and married Allen Wagner, and the family made Miles City their home.
Mrs. Wagner loved time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing backgammon, cribbage, sewing, and enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Allen Wagner; sons: Duncan and Austin Bair; her daughter Hattie Bair; five grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph; sister, Hattie Ann Bair; and youngest brother, Frank Bair.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.

Dorothy Jurica
Dorothy Jurica, age 97, of Billings, formerly of Miles City, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at St. Johns Nursing Home in Billings.
Mrs. Jurica was born in Puyallup, Wash., on July 23, 1910, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Gregg) Mather. Her family moved after she was born from Kansas to Montana, just west of Jordan on a homestead.
They moved to Arkansas City, Kansas and she attended and graduated from high school. She then attended college in Dillon, Montana. She acquired a lifetime teaching certificate from the Normal Teaching College in Dillon. She taught in one-room country schools in the Spring Creek, Powderville, Cross S and Ennis communities, until her marriage to Ben in 1938.
She and Ben worked their farm at Powderville from 1939 until 1979, when they retired to Miles City.
Mrs. Jurica enjoyed teaching, sewing, traveling and being a homemaker for her family. She was an avid reader and loved doing word puzzles. She enjoyed being involved with the Sunshine Club in Powderville.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Ardelle) Jurica of Spokane, Wash.; her daughter, Rita (Tom) Anderson of Cody, Wyo.; her grandchildren: Matt Anderson, Greg Anderson, Kirk Jurica and Kelley Weigand; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ben Jurica, in 1990.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held in the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Miles City Public Library would be appreciated.
