Dolores Catherine Helm Hecht
Dolores Catherine Helm Hecht, 83, of Miles City died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, in Miles City.
Mrs. Hecht was born in Aberdeen, S.D., on Nov. 11, 1926, the daughter of Nels Albert and Grace Hart Helm. Her father was a bridge and building forman for the Milwaukee Railroad and they lived in a rail car and traveled with the job until she was about four years of age. At that time the family settled in Miles City where she attended school and graduated from Custer County High School in 1944.
After graduation she attended the junior college and worked for the Miles City Mercantile.
On Nov. 29, 1947, she and Robert L. Hecht were married and they moved to Forsyth. While in Forsyth, prior to the start of her family, she was a legal secretary for Fritz Haynes.
After her family was complete she began working for Vic East at the Bulk Plant, which later became Petrolane Gas, as their office manager for the next 30 years.
After her retirement in 1991, she moved to Billings where she enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent’s Hospital, getting together with old friends and classmates, and playing cards.
She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips and cruises. But visiting with her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life.
In 2004 she returned to Miles City where she had resided until the time of her death.
While in Forsyth she was a member of the Federated Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Forsyth Country Club, and enjoyed league bowling for many years.
Her survivors include three sons and their wives, Dr. Robert and Mary Hecht of Helena, Dr. Don and Michelle Hecht of Lewistown and Dr. Ron and Jeanne Hecht of Bozeman; two daughters and their husbands, Catherine and Butch Smith of Miles City and Lynn and Jim Rusch of Laramie, Wyo.; a brother, Don Helm of Hathaway; grandchildren, Shawna, Micah, Tarun, Navaneeta (Bryce), Courtney (Andrew), Morgan, Banner, Sunni, Chelsea, Shelby and Kramer Hecht, Kanyon (Julie), Brandel (Peggy) Smith, Jennifer (JR) and Christopher Rusch; and six great-grandchildren.

Sam Minow, 96, of Olive died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Sam Minow celebrated his 96th birthday this past August at his ranch home on the Cross S with many family members attending. Even with the major change of moving to Eagles Manor in Miles City a year ago and more recently to Friendship Villa, he never lost his sense of humor and love of visiting with friends and family. The highlight of his day was getting news from the ranch about the weather or crops or cattle.

He has left a legacy of honesty and dedication to his work and family as a high standard to follow for his descendants. His deep faith and love of God throughout his lifetime membership in the Orthodox Church has carried him through good and bad times and gave him the strength to carry through a long and productive life.
