Kelly Lee Henderson
Kelly Lee Henderson, 20, of Miles City, had an accident near Savage and was killed on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1990, in Chadron, Neb., on one of the coldest days on record and learned at an early age to fight for what he wanted in a quiet, but determined manor. He was painfully shy, but always seemed to “get the girl.” His sister teased him all the time in high school about how someone who hardly said a word could have so many girls like him.
He is survived by his parents, David H. and Verna Henderson, his sister, Marilyn and his grandparents, Howard and Sharon Henderson, all of Miles City; and grandparents, Vern and Fran Platt and great-grandfather, Walter Mooring from Hay Springs, Neb.; along with aunts, uncles and cousins.
He enjoyed playing hockey in high school. If you were a Generals fan, you will never forget the game where the puck was in a pileup, then all of the sudden it wasn’t there. Everyone was looking for the puck and it couldn’t be found. Kelly was searching as hard as anyone else, but he found it hidden in his clothes. He dropped the puck and scored a goal to the laughter of all of the fans, Generals and the opposing team alike.
After hockey, he began to play Magic cards with his friends and go to tournaments to sharpen his skills. His confidence in himself was shown when he traveled to Denver with friends to enter a huge Grand Prix tournament there. He had a great time with his friends, who supported him when challenges were thrown at him. They helped shape him into the man he became.
Bowling became the hobby of interest in his later years in high school. His first state tournament showed the adults what they were up against. He was there to win and he did. His love for bowling was shown every week at league time and how he had fun working at the bowling alley. Along with bowling, his favorite past time was fishing with Vern and Fran in South Dakota.
Recreation Lanes, Kelly’s Auto, the crew at Blue Rock, and Prince, Inc. had a huge hand in shaping him into the man he became. They supported him through some very tough times. They helped him refine his work ethics and showed him how to have fun on the job. Getting him to talk was a challenge they couldn’t overcome, but his sense of humor showed up at just the right moments.
To his family and friends, keep him close to your hearts. Don’t forget him and strive to live like he lived. He went after what he wanted and didn’t stop until he succeeded. What better way to live.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in his name to the Elks Youth Scholarship Fund and may be dropped off at Stockman Bank in Miles City.

Roberta Rae Clarke
Roberta Rae Clarke passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, in Helena on June 18, 2011 with her family at her side.
A true daughter of Montana, Roberta was born Nov. 25, 1937, in Miles City and proudly lived most of her life in our state. Her parents, both deceased, were William Boyce Clarke and Marjorie Hungerford Clarke. Her brother Thomas Clarke is a life-long Miles City resident.
Roberta graduated from Custer County High School, Class of 1955 and attended Eastern Montana College for one year. On Sept. 16, 1956, she married another Miles City native, Leo Richard Neiffer. Together, they had two children, Steven Paul and Kathryn Ann, and in 1964 this family settled in Ennis where Leo purchased a pharmacy. Leo passed away in 1975.
In the late 1960s, Roberta and Leo brought the two infant sons of Dr. Gene C. Wilkins into their home and raised them as their own children for several years. In many respects, this was one of the happiest times in Roberta’s life. Dr. Wilkins’ son Jay lives with his wife Heidi and their children in Belgrade, and son James lives with his children in Helena. Both families remain close to Roberta.
Roberta moved to the Helena area in the early 2000’s, where she became active in the First Presbyterian Church, her Canyon Ferry community and as a volunteer in other community organizations. She lavished great love and attention on all the grandchildren in her life: those of her own family, those of the Wilkins’ family and those of her brother Tom.
Roberta’s life is celebrated by her children’s families: Steven Neiffer and Eric Lassiter of Los Angeles, and Kathryn and Don Dolese of Missoula. Roberta’s grandchildren, through Kathryn, are Lauren Rogers, Christian Segota and Colin Dolese. Her eight-month-old great-granddaughter, through Lauren, is Emery Rogers.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at St. Peter’s Hospice in Helena, and especially Roberta’s in-home caregiver in her final weeks, Loma Vinson.
