Carlo Gallo
A memorial service for Carlo "Barp" Gallo, who died Sept. 4, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at the Whitefish Cemetery with Military Honors.
A luncheon to follow at the VFW in Whitefish.

Debbie Hedman
Debbie Hedman passed away Oct. 12, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell after a three-year battle with lung cancer.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Oct. 16,, at the Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell at 2 p.m.

Garth W. (Jake) Jacobi
Garth W. (Jake) Jacobi of Whitefish, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the North Valley Hospital in Whitefish of natural causes.
He was born Oct. 15, 1926 in Whitefish, the only son of Chris and Lillian Jacobi.
Jake loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
After he retired in 1988 as a business manager for School District 6 in Columbia Falls, Jake set out on a personal mission, to take a timbered piece of land he had grown up on, and carve it into a beautiful piece of heaven.
His mission was completed and it is there that he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years.
Jake married Beverly Ann Drake on July 16, 1948 in Havre.
He is also survived by five children: Karen and her husband, Jesse; Greg and his wife, Sandy; Patti and her husband, Todd; Steve and his wife Roxanne; Chris and his wife, Teressa; six grand children and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish with Rev. David V. Kauffman officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hospice.

Frederick William Hartman, Jr.
Frederick William Hartman, Jr., 67, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Thanksgiving day, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Martin City.
He was born June 18, 1937 in Saginaw, Mich. to Frederick William Hartman, Sr. and Orra Mae (Heil) Hartman.
He was raised in Midland, Mich. and moved to his parents' cherry orchard on the east lake shore of Flathead Lake in 1976.
In 1989 he moved to Martin City to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Tom Church and he loved spending his winters in Arizona.
As a boy he was active in Boy Scouts, a bowling team, and loved working in their orchard picking cherries and apples.
Freddie loved the outdoors and his trip into the Bob Marshall on horseback with his dad.
He enjoyed fishing any chance he got.
He also enjoyed sporting events.
He could often be seen at football, baseball, and basketball games.
Freddie's biggest joy was meeting people and shaking their hand.
He always had a smile and never forgot a name.
He worked for Flathead Industries in Columbia Falls with his brother, Richard, for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mae Hartman; his nephew and his brother-in-law, Tom Church.
Freddie is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Church; his brother and best friend, Richard Hartman; his nephew and family, Louis, Suzanne, Lori, Emily, and Danny Church; his niece's and families, Carma, John and Billy Johnson and Brandi and Chris Sinerius; and Cathy, Mike, and Shelby Nash and Tommy Church.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and was an inspiration to us all.
Thank you to everyone who came by, called, and sent cards, postcards, and letters from all over the country during his illness.
It meant a great deal to him to know so many people cared about him.
Freddie's memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Canyon Community Church in Coram.
There will be a potluck dinner at 5 p.m. in the Ed building next to the church preceding the service.

Charles Homer Doxtater
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Corvallis, Ore., on Friday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. for Charles Homer Doxtater who died at the age of 94, on Nov. 12, in a nursing home in Beaverton, Ore.
He was born in Havre on April 26, 1910, to Charles W. and Iva E. Hatler Doxtater.
Mr. Doxtater attended school in Whitefish and Havre.
He graduated from Whitefish High School in 1929.
He was active in sports, playing varsity football and basketball, and also worked all through high school.
He worked in the CCC Camps in first aid in Montana and in the field in California.
He attended Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. on a football scholarship in 1934.
At one time Mr. Doxtater worked in a creamery in Spokane making peanut butter and ice cream.
He married Fern "Terry" Harriet Walte, whom he met at Hamline University, on Oct.18, 1936.
He settled in Billings for about four years and worked in a creamery making butter, ice cream, popsicles, Eskimo Pies, cottage cheese and pasteurizing and bottling milk.
The family lived in Deer Lodge during World War II.
They moved to Libby in 1951 and took over the Blue Bear, a drive in and fountain lunch.
They sold the business in 1963.
They moved to Corvallis in 1968 and bought a Taco Time franchise, which he and his wife operated until April of 1975, when they retired.
After retiring he and his wife, Terry, designed and built a log cabin on Crystal Lake where they spent many summers.
His interests were fishing, skiing, and playing tennis.
The Libby Chamber of Commerce recognized him for building tennis courts and creating and maintaining an ice skating rink in the Blue Bear Parking Lot; other hobbies included reading, jogging, walking, carpentry and working on his cabin.
Terry died in 2001, and he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include: daughter, Gail Diedrich of Los Alamos, N. M., son, Dennis Doxtater of Tucson, Arizona; twin daughters, Jane Esping of Beaverton Ore. and Jean Bays of Bellingham, Wash.; nine grandchildren and one great grandson.

Thomas F. Costich
Thomas F. Costich was born on June 12, 1924 in Eureka, Mont., to Loretta and Frank Costich.
After high school graduation, he attended art school in Seattle, Wash.
He then enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the l0th Mountain Ski Division and saw action in Italy.
Following his army service he moved to Calif. to work for Hanna Barbera as a cartoonist.
He then made a career in costume supervision and costume design training with Edith Head.
After living many years in Los Angeles and traveling to many movie locations, he retired in 1992 and returned to Montana to live in Whitefish.
In 1999 he moved to Eureka.
He became a member of the Veterans home in Columbia Falls until his death on Thanksgiving Day.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He is survived by his sister Esther (Tyke) Aubert Green and her husband Larry of Overton, Nev., Lyndell (Cy) Mace of Billings, Jon (Jane) Aubert of Phoenix, Ariz., Lori (Carl) Radabah of Coram, Sylvia (Steve) Butterfield of Wlnslow, Ariz., Teresa (Mike) Johnson of Whitefish and many great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was held on Dec. 1, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Eureka.

Floyd C. Hamilton
Floyd C. Hamilton passed away on Nov.15, 2004 in Encinitas, Calif.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Havre, Montana on Aug.10, 1915.
After attending local schools, he attended Northern Montana College.
He started his banking career in Havre, and then spent several years as a bank examiner for First Bank Systems Corporation..
During World War II, he was a pilot in the United States Marine Corps flying many combat missions in the South Pacific theater.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Medal.
He was proud of his service in the Marines and flew in the reserves after the war.
He continued his banking career in several locations in North Dakota and Montana.
He served as President of the First National Park Bank in Livingston, Mont. from 1957 until retiring in 1971.
He was active in community affairs and was an avid golfer and outdoorsman.
He especially enjoyed fishing in the Yellowstone River.
Mr. Hamilton served as a member of the Montana State Board of Pardons.
After his retirement he lived in Borrego Springs, Calif. and Whitefish, Mont, enjoying the outdoors, playing golf, painting and collecting western art.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Valessa Jean Hamilton.
He is survived by his daughter Jane Tempkin and husband Rick of San Diego California; sons Brett Hamilton and wife Sue of Germany; Jeff Hamilton and wife Martha of Spokane, Washington; Jim Hamilton and wife Stacey of Ocean Ridge, Florida; sister Laurel Knapp and husband Richard of Havre, Mont.; brother Terry Stevenson and wife Mary Ann of Gildford, Mont.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Fredrick James Mack
Fredrick James Mack, 84, passed away on Nov. 26 of natural causes at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.
Fred was born on Jan. 18, 1920, the oldest of two sons, to Fred and Mindah Mack in Seattle, Wash.
On February 12, 1938 Fred married Annie Lea Breckenridge, his lifetime love for 66 years.
Soon after, they moved to Colorado where Fred worked the mines and also worked for the Forest Service running a string of pack mules.
After the start of W.W. II, they returned to the Seattle area where Fred worked in the shipyards, whiled also running his own landscape and excavation business, building rock retaining walls.
In the early 1970s, Fred and Annie purchased and operated the River Terrace Cafe, Cabins, and Service Station.
While doing this Fred also ran a tow truck, had chain-saw sales and service business, and maintained a rural newspaper delivery route.
In the early 1980s, after selling their business Fred and Annie moved to Montana where they spent several summers as campground host at various sites on the Hungry Horse Reservoir and at Big Creek Campgrounds in the North Fork.
Fred was raised a Master Mason at Green Lake Lodge no. 149 A.F. & A.M. in Seattle on April 28, 1960.
He was a life member of the Whitefish Masonic Lodge no. 64 A.F. & A.M., 32 degree Scottish Rite and a 32 degree Knight Templar.
Fred is survived by his wife Annie Lea at the Immanuel Lutheran Home, children: Fred J. (Fritz) Mack, Jr. and wife Rena of Everett, Wash., Robert L. (Bob) Mack and wife Lynne of Columbia Falls, his brother Donald L. Mack of Libby, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
As requested, a private memorial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran Home or Hospice.

Lee H. Johnson
Lee H. Johnson, 74, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. He was born on Dec. 18, 1929 at Conway, South Carolina the son of Leo and Reba (Martin) Johnson.
Lee received his early education in Conway and continued in Charleston before joining the Navy at the age of 17.
He was able to complete his GED and two years of college while active duty.
Lee retired in 1965 and after returning to North Carolina, went to work for Mosler Safe & Coin.
He worked in Tennessee, Kentucky and California before retiring in Tennessee in 1982.
Lee met Nancy R. Hardgrove Ray in 1995 and the couple married on April 10. 1999 in Kalispell.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, coin collecting and NASCAR races.
Lee was preceded in death by his father; two brothers; William and Wendall and two sisters: Letha Jones and Elizabeth Speers.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; his mother Reba Sanders of Ridgeway, S. C.; three sons; Michael Johnson and wife Nancy of Hillsboro, Ore.; Matthew Johnson of Molalla, Ore.; and Mitchell Johnson and wife Deann of Auburn, Washington; one daughter: Melissa Glad and husband Joe of Portland, Oregon; five step children; Laurie Severson of Dayton, Tammy Gossett, Robert Hardgrove and wife Katrina; and Schrie Jones and husband Eric all of Kalispell; and Boon Hardgrove of Columbia Falls.
He is also survived by a brother: Al Sanders on Winnsboro, S. C.; a sister Gail Derrick and husband Jay of Virginia twenty-two grandchildren and seventeen great grand children.
Funeral services for Lee Johnson were held Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dan Wurster of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
Urn burial followed at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. California St., Kalispell, MT 59901.
