William Stefanishen

William Stefanishen was buried in a private ceremony at the Riverside Cemetery in Savage on Saturday, April 19, 2003. He was 82 years old when he died on Feb.13, 2002 in Seattle, Wash., from cancer.

Bill was born on Jan. 16, 1920, in Gorham, N.D., to Steve and Anna Stefanishen. The Stefanishen family moved to Savage in the 1930s. Bill completed his schooling in Savage.

During World War II, he moved to Seattle, Wash., where he worked for the Department of the Navy, as a machinist in the shipyards. After the war, he decided to stay in Seattle, where he worked as an accountant for Pacific Fruit and Vegetable.

In the early 1970s, he purchased and operated his own taxi cab, which he continued to operate until he retired in the mid 1980s.

He enjoyed working in his garden and taking care of the yard of the house that he lived in and owned since the 1960s. He also enjoyed collecting coins, driving and maintaining his cars and CB radios. He was known to his friends in Seattle as "Mr. Bill."

Bill was the last surviving member of the Stefanishen family who lived in Savage. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, and one nephew.

Survivors include seven nephews and nieces, 11 great-nephews and nieces, 23 great- great-nephews and nieces and brother in-law Toby Reiner (formerly of Savage).

Genevieve Dasinger

Memorial services for Genevieve Dasinger, 92, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to a charity of one's choice. Cremation has taken place.

Genevieve M. Dasinger, D.C., 92, left us on Saturday, May 31, 2003, to join the love of her life, Arthur.

She was born in Alexandria, Minn., on July 4, 1910, a daughter to Cora Belva Weatherby and Glen Kinney. She had two sisters, Dorothy and June, and one brother, Lawrence.

Genevieve married Arthur Dasinger on March 23, 1940, in Reno, Nev. Arthur sang her a love song each day of their lives together. They graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1951. They practiced together in Glendive for over 30 years. In 1982, Art and Genevieve moved to Billings to be closer to family and to continue their practice.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, her parents, siblings, numerous family members and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

William "Bill" Damm

Funeral services for Bill Damm, 91, Fairview, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at the St John's Lutheran Church in Fairview. Pastor George Draper will be officiating. Casketbearers are Bill's grandsons Kevin Damm, Myron Damm, Scott Damm, Jacob Damm Jr., Steven Damm and Brian Breitling. Honorary casketbearers are all of Bill's friends, family and neighbors.

Ushers are Don Schlothauer and Jim Ketterling. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home, Sidney.

Bill was born in Culbertson to parents Peter and Mary (Burback) Damm on Sept. 25, 1912. Bill grew up and attended school in Culbertson.

Bill was united in marriage to Selma Mick on June 16, 1935, Togo, Saskatchewan, Canada. They farmed north of Sidney for 16 years before moving to Fairview to farm until retirement. After many years of successful farming, Bill still enjoyed being a part of the farm and was a great help to his son, Jack, who took over the family farm.

He also enjoyed traveling, cooking, farm auctions, cars, gardening, playing cards, and especially visiting with family and friends. Bill also enjoyed long drives in the country to check on local crops and visit with neighbors. He was a warm and loving man and will be missed by his family and friends. Bill and Selma celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2003.

Bill died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, N.D.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Selma, Fairview; sons, Arthur (Louetta) Damm, Savage, Delmore (Bonnie) Damm, Sidney, Raymond (Min) Damm, Chicago, Merlin (Grace) Damm, Glendive, Marvin Damm, Fairview, Clinton (Aura) Damm, Gardena, Calif., Randall (Karleen) Riverton, Wyo., and Jacob (Jacklyn) Damm, Fairview; daughter, Charlene (Ken) Kaercher, Sidney; brother, David Damm, Yakima, Wash.; sisters, Lilly Servo, Richland, Wash., Molly Rasussen, Quincy, Wash., Dolly Leibelt, Quincy, Wash., Annie Buckklotz, Havre, Bertha Kaufman, Quincy, Wash.; and 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Mary Damm; son, Jerald Damm; brothers, Peter and John Damm; and sisters, Millie Green and Mary Damm.

Jane Noteboom

1941 - 2003

Jane E. Noteboom, 62, Webster, Minn., died Dec. 26, 2003, after a courageous 13-year battle with multiple myeloma.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; two daughters, Laurie (Scott) Peterson and Denise (Ronald) Wagner; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Rebecca and Jonathan; three brothers, Dennis, Jerry and Roger Erickson; and many nieces and nephews.

Jane loved her grandchildren, playing the piano, and was a licensed airplane pilot and mechanic.

Service was Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Apple Valley Baptist Church in Webster, Minn.

Maxine Gregg

Funeral services for Maxine Gregg, 79, of Savage, were 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at the First Congregational Church of Savage, with Pastor Perry Blanchard of the First Congregational Church and Pastor Betty Mawbey of the First Lutheran Church of Savage officiating.

Musical selection was provided by Mary Pfau and JoAnne Christensen. Casketbearers were her grandsons: Bryan Johnson, Kent Johnson, Bob Gregg, Dale Berg, Buggs Hartman, Chris Hitchcock, Mike Peterson and Bill York. Honorary casketbearers were her granddaughters: Cindy Berg, Loni Hartman, Dicki Gregg, Tanys Taylor, Trista Taylor, Tayvee Hitchcock, Janet Johnson and Patty Johnson. Ushers were Leonard Odenbach and Carmin Larsen. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery of Savage under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.

Maxine was born on Oct. 15, 1922, in Savage, the daughter of William and Murle (Howard) Moore. She grew up and attended school in Savage. Maxine was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Gregg on Feb. 24, 1939 in Wolf Point. They made their home in Savage until 1941, when Bob was called by the Civil Service. The family then moved to Bremerton, Wash., where he worked in the shipyards. While in Bremerton, Maxine worked several places as a waitress. In 1945, they returned to Savage and she started working for the Savage Mercantile. She worked there on and off for the next 26 years. She worked as a scale lady during 33 campaigns for Holly Sugar. Maxine was the first lady to give out candy to the kids as they came through the scale. She was also a substitute mail carrier and a caregiver. Maxine retired from Holly Sugar and carrying mail in 1985. She then went to work for the Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project as a ditch rider for several years. After Maxine and Bob retired, they remained in Savage. Her husband Bob died in May of 1991.

Maxine attended the First Congregational UCC Church in Savage. She was a member of the Guys and Gals Square Dancers. Maxine enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, games and dice.

Maxine died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Sidney Health Center-Extended Care Facility.

Maxine is survived by a son, William "Bill" (Linda) Gregg of Colstrip; daughters, Leota (Henry) Johnson of Sidney and Jolene (Cody) Taylor of Miles City; a sister, Blanche Hahn of Billings; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; two sisters, Bethel Dashner and Peggy Lapp; and one brother, Bill Moore.
