ORVILLE MORIGEAU
POLSON -- Orville Woodrow Morigeau died on May 3, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital here from natural causes. He was born on Oct. 12, 1915, at Valley Creek to Eli and Nancy Morigeau. He attended schools in Arlee; Chemawa, OR; and Rapid City, SD. On April 26, 1937, he married Pauline Tellier in Missoula. They lived in Polson and he worked on the Kerr Dam until moving to Seattle in 1941. He worked at Todds Day Dock for a few years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He learned to weld while he was in the military and continued in this career after his discharge. He worked in Seattle, where he was a member of the Boilermakers Union and later the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local No. 32. In 1979 he retired from the welding trade. He and Pauline moved to Polson to their retirement home on Hellroaring Creek. O.W. loved to hunt, fish, play cards, watch football and garden. He was preceded in death by his wife, son Donald and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Gary E. Morigeau and wife Sue (Polson); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Donald (Ronan) and Stella Pearl Jamison (Vancouver, WA); and numerous other relatives. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on May 7 Wednesday in Polson. Cremation followed the services. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

HOMER PIEDALUE
MISSOULA -- Homer George Piedalue died here on May 20, 2003. He was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Missoula. Homer resided in Ronan as a rancher with his family until 1980, when they sold the family ranch. For the past four years, Homer resided in Superior. Homer was preceded in death by his mother, father, a brother and two children, Lyle Homer Piedalue and Shelly Gay Piedalue. He is survived by seven sons: Dana Piedalue and Terry Piedalue (both of Butte), Mike Piedalue, Tim Piedalue, Dale Piedalue, Chris (Melanie) Piedalue and Ryan Piedalue; stepson Tracy (Shirley) Burland; and daughter, Gayla (Jess) Lytton (all of Ronan); and a sister, Molly (Bud) Allred (Seeley Lake). Homer was also blessed with seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held on May 24 at the Mountain View Cemetery.

GERTRUDE REINLASODER
RONAN -- Gertrude Alma Reinlasoder, age 94, died here on May 25, 2003. She was born in Crystal Lake, IL, on Oct. 14, 1908, to Theodore and Ottilie (Krause) Freiburger. At the age of eight her family moved to Ronan. After her marriage to Andrew on Nov. 29, 1936, they struggled together to develop their little farm and make a living. After Andy's death she moved into Ronan and filled her yard with shrubs, flowers and a garden. In addition to her passion for flowers, her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting, which filled her evenings and the long winter months. Each of her grandchildren relieved an afghan for their high school graduation in the colors they chose. Due to failing health Gertie went to live with her daughter, Helen, until a major illness forced her to become a resident of St. Luke Extend Care. Gertie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Herman, and son-in-law Carl Sorenson. Survivors include her daughter, Helen; five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on May 29 at Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery.

HAROLD W. RAMSEY
BIG ARM -- Harold W. Ramsey, 69, died on May 31, 2003, from cardiac arrest. Harold was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Cleo Ramsey and Adeline (Rozek) Ramsey. He attended school in the Cedar Rapids area, graduating from high school in Ainsworth. Harold joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Europe. He married Patricia Brock on Jan. 22, 1956, in Iowa. The family moved to Minnesota, where Harold attended Bemidji State for two years. They moved to Bonner and Harold received his bachelor of science degree in fish and wildlife from the Univ. of Montana. He accepted a job with the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game at the Niagara Springs Steelhead Hatchery near Wendell, ID. He continued his education at the Univ. of Idaho in Moscow. After 24 years, he and Pat moved from Wendell to Big Arm. Harold loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and traveler. Trips to Alaska, China and Africa were highlights of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; son Douglas Ramsey and his wife Lisa (Hagerman, ID); two daughters and their husbands, Crystal and Gary Bertellotti (Helena) Tracey and Arthur Lindgren (Everett, WA); six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Cleaves (Cedar Rapids); and numerous other relatives. A memorial service was held on June 6 at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. Memorials are suggested to the Pinehaven Christian Children's Ranch in St. Ignatius.

HANNAH ROBINSON
MISSOULA -- Hannah Marie Robinson, infant daughter of Jeannie Cordis and Stacy Robinson, died on May 23, 2003, at Community Medical Center here. She is survived by her parents and two brothers, James and Robert, of the family home. Also surviving are grandparents Roxey and Charlie Cordis (Ronan), Bernie and Wayne Robinson (Riverside, CA); great-grandparents Nellie Stokes (Pablo), Philip Kuntz, Elizabeth Reum and Grandma Lois (Ronan); and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A private family service was held on May 28 at the Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius.

ELMORE SMITH
POLSON -- Elmore Somers Smith, 91, died at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center here on May 25, 2003. He was born to the Rev. C.E. and Clara Belle Smith on May 2, 1912, in Columbia Falls. Elmore is survived by his wife, Dorothea; brother Everett Smith (Polson); sister Ethyl Harmon (Choteau); daughter Marlene Howell (Moiese); son Gordon Smith (Somers); three grandchildren and seven great-granddaughters. Elmore graduated from Hamilton High School in 1930. He graduated from Intermountain Union College in 1934 with a B.A. degree and from the University of Montana with a master's degree in 1942. He was an instructor in the College Training Detachment (CTD) of the Army Air Force during World War II for two years. He taught physics. He taught a total of 40 years. He held memberships in a variety of Montana education associations. He also helped organize the Alberton Volunteer Fire Department, a Boy Scout troop and a Cub pack, and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Mineral County Search and Rescue Unit, a certified American Red Cross first aid instructor, and a past master of the Masonic Blue Lodge and past high priest of the Royal Arch Lodge. He also worked for the Forest Service in the summer for 28 years. As per his request, no service were held.

LAURA TEAGUE
CLINTON -- Laura Adele Teague, 70, died after an extended illness on May 9, 2003, at her home here. She was born on Dec. 1, 1932, in Ronan, to Arthur and Clara Reed. She was raised and educated in Ronan and after high school, she moved to Missoula, where she worked at the Florence Hotel. She married Donald Teague on June 2, 1950. The family lived in Seeley Lake until 1973, when Donald transferred back to Missoula. The couple then resided in Clinton until her death. While living in Clinton, Laura worked as a seamstress at Kerr's Drapery in Missoula. She enjoyed reading, sewing, tending to her flowers and following the Atlanta Braves. In her younger years she enjoyed playing softball. She was a member of the Conf. Salish and Kootenai Tribes and was proud of her Native American heritage. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Melvin "Bud" Reed; her sisters, Audrey, Helen, Ethel, Donna and Lois; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include her husband of the family home; sister Evelyn and her husband Joe Nagy (Seeley Lake); her children, Christine and her husband Mike Shaffer and Laurie Teague (all of Bonner), and son Andy Teague and his wife Kathy (Seeley Lake); and six grandchildren. A memorial service was held on May 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bonner. Inurnment followed at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made in Laura's name to either the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department or to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

JACQUES M. TOUSSAINT
RONAN -- Jacques M. Toussaint died on May 13, 2003, of cancer. Jacques was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Belgium, to Renee and Charles Toussaint. In 1948, he married Theresa M. Cody in Nashua, NH. In 1953, they returned to Belgium to help raise, educate and support his seven brothers and sisters. While in Belgium, he worked in the coal, wood and oil business. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1971, he worked as a lumber manufacturing consultant in specialty products throughout the U.S. and Mexico and as a rancher in Charlo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Pierre Toussaint; and his wife. Survivors include his two sons, John Charles (New York) and Paul Dennis and wife Sharon (Charlo); two daughters, Marie-Anne and husband Bob King (Charlo) and Maureen and husband Paul Schultz (NH); four grandchildren; three sisters, Anne-Marie Messier (NH), Marie-Therese Bauthier (Belgium) and Marie-Christine Bauthier (Belgium); three brothers, Jean-Marle Toussaint, Charles Toussaint and Phillipe Toussaint (all of Belgium); and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Memorials are preferred to Montana Cancer Specialist, P.O. Box 7877, 500 W. Broadway, Missoula, MT 59807. Mass of Christian Burial was held on May 16 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ronan. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery.

GERTRUDE VAN HAVERBEKE
MISSOULA -- Gertrude Van Haverbeke, 74, formerly of St. Ignatius, died on May 22, 2003. She was born on Oct. 4, 1928, to Ferdinand and Anna Kantner in Vienna, Austria. Gertrude met her husband, Paul, during World War II in Vienna. Irma, their oldest daughter, was born in Vienna and they moved to St. Ignatius after Paul's completion of service. Gertrude moved to Missoula in 1986 and was a volunteer at St. Patrick Hospital for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Thomas. She took great pleasure in having her large family around her. Gertrude is survived by six of her seven children and their spouses: Irma and Wayne Michels (Columbia Falls), Martha Allen (Central Point, OR), David and Betty Van Haverbeke (Pablo), Merry and Pat Kelly (Kalispell), Monica and Maury Mills (Polson), and Mike and Julie Van Haverbeke (Columbia Falls); 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on May 28 at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church. The family suggests donations to a memorial of the donor's choice.
