REGINA CYR McLEOD
ARLEE -- Regina (Cyr) McLeod died of natural causes in her home here on Jan. 21, 2004, at the age of 102. Regina was born on Jan. 13, 1902, in Frenchtown, to Esmeralda and Lawrence Cyr. Her family later moved to the Arlee area. While attending school there, she met her lifetime sweetheart, Bernard McLeod. They married on July 1, 1918. They raised their two children, June and Eugene, and helped raise Bernard's four younger brothers. They homesteaded on their allotment northeast of Arlee. Bernard died in 1980. In addition to Bernard, she was preceded in death by her children, and grandson Ronald "Buzzy" McLeod. Regina is survived by three grandchildren, Walter Mahler (VA), Sharlene LaRance (Helena); B. Kent Mahler (Missoula); eight great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. Mass was celebrated on Jan. 27 in Arlee. Interment followed in the Jocko Catholic Cemetery.

FREDERICK MIELKE
POLSON -- Frederick H. "Fred" Mielke, 85, of Polson, died on Jan. 8, 2004, of natural causes at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Survivors include his wife, Millie (Polson); three children, George Mielke (New York), John Mielke (Florida) and Maggie Darlington (Polson); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Jan. 12 in Polson. Inurnment was in Sidney, MT. Cremation has taken place.

KENNETH NEUMANN
POLSON -- Kenneth August Neumann, 76, died at his home here on Jan. 6, 2004, from cancer. Kenneth was born on Nov. 9, 1927, in Polson, to William August and Herta Marie (Butt) Neumann. He attended schools in Polson, graduating in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1945, and served in the Philippines. Kenneth married Rosemary Courville Dupuis in 1950 in Polson. The couple lived in Polson, Spokane (WA), Beaverton (OR) and Anchorage, AK. Ken remained there until Rosemary's death in 1993. He was a deputy clerk and recorder and a city clerk in Polson. He also worked at Beardmore Heavy Hauling, Spokane Terminal Consolidated Freightways, Portland CF, and Weaver Brothers Trucking. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, word-search puzzles and taking drives. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary and a son, Wesley Alan. He is survived by five children: Randall E., William K. and Elaine M. Harrison (all of Polson), Gary B. (St. Ignatius), and Dean A. (Anchorage and Polson); five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Jan. 10 in Polson. Inurnment of cremains will take place on Aug. 14, 2004, in Polson.

LILLIAN NOBLE
POLSON -- Lillian Anna Noble, 77, died at St. Joseph Assisted Living here on Jan. 4, 2004. She was born to Ludwig and Francis Marion (Harlan) Pollmann on Nov. 9, 1926, in Reed Point. She attended schools in Polson and earned an AA degree in Torrance, CA. Lillian married Neil Noble on May 29, 1947, in Missoula. They lived in Great Falls and southern Calif. They retired to Polson in 1982. Lillian's activities included tennis, golf, photography, gold panning, silversmithing and jewelry making, sewing, crocheting and Bible study. She was a rock hound and a fan of the Mission Valley Mariners and the Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved gardening and drying fruit, and playing cribbage, Scrabble, cards and games of chance. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Polson Ladies Golf League. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Marion Dooley. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Michael and Quinci Noble (Helena), Ronn and Linda Noble (Polson), Beth and Leonard DeVore (Hot Springs), and Paul and Marie Noble (Polson); three sisters, Eve Funke (Polson), Carol Thomas (Lake Mary Ronan) and Karen Corcoran (Point Arena, CA); one brother, Harlan "Chub" Pollmann (Ronan); 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. A memorial service and inurnment took place on Jan. 7 in Polson.

WILLIAM OLSON
POLSON -- William Olson, 91, died of natural causes on Jan. 8, 2004, at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center here. He was born on Oct. 5, 1912, in Grand Forks, ND, to Edith and Walter C. Olson. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Virginia; three sons, Curtis G. Olson (Coeur d'Alene, ID), Walter C. Olson (Polson) and William A Olson (Neenah, WI); a daughter, Joy E. Bell (Pensacola, FL); a sister, Dorothy E. Wendt (Great Falls); eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services and interment took place on Jan. 14.

PATSY ORR
ST. IGNATIUS -- Vera Pauline "Patsy" Orr, died at her home here on Jan. 28, 2004. She was born in July of 1926 to William Bunn and Clara Batson Traylor in Sepulapa, OK. Her mother married Elzie Litteral in 1928. Of Muskogee ­Creek tribal heritage, the family left Oklahoma in 1941 and settled in Yakima, WA, where she met the love of her life, Alvin Orr. They were married on Feb. 9, 1945. They left Washington in 1948 and settled in St. Ignatius. They later divorced. She was a homemaker for the elderly in the St. Ignatius area. After suffering a stroke in 1999, she divided her time between her home in St. Ignatius and her daughter's home in Warm Springs, OR. She was preceded in death by her two fathers, her mother and a son, Gary. Survivors include her children and their spouses: Sharon Orr (Warm Springs, OR), Jerry and Kathy Orr (Missoula), Jeannie and Dean Seyler (Pinetop, AZ), Anita and Shorty Matt (Moiese) and Tim and Peggy Orr (St. Ignatius); 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Billie Traylor; sisters Charlene Davis (WA) and Bobbi Tyler (LA); an uncle; two aunts; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Jan. 31 in St. Ignatius. Interment followed in the family cemetery near St. Ignatius.

AGNES PAUL
ST. IGNATIUS -- Agnes PokerJim Paul, 93, died on Jan. 11, 2004, at her home north of here. She was born on March 13, 1910, in Arlee, one of five children born to Louie and Catherine PokerJim. A dedicated wife and mother, she was one of a dwindling number of fluent Salish speakers. In addition to her beadwork skills, her accomplishments include being named Elder of the Year in 2000 and the bestowal of an honorary degree from Salish Kootenai College in 2002. She was also keeper of the bitterroot for the Salish-Pend d'Oreille people. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, John Peter Paul; parents; her siblings, Philip, Pete, Lucy and Mary Catherine; six children; and her husband. Survivors include six children and their spouses: John Paul, Josephine Quequesah, Phillip and Debbie Paul, Carol and Leslie Buck, Adele Michel, and Nancy and Leon Grant; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 20 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Jan. 14 in St. Ignatius. Burial followed in the Paul family cemetery north of St. Ignatius.

CHARLES PROSSER
HOT SPRINGS -- Charles Francis "Chuck" Prosser, 85, died on Jan. 16, 2004, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born on April 23, 1918, in Wheaton, IL, the youngest of 10 children of Tom and Ida Prosser. He grew up in the Chicago area. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his discharge in 1946, he moved to Hot Springs. On March 19, 1971, he married Carolee Keith. Chuck was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lone Prairie Springs VFW Post and the Hot Springs Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed fishing, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with his four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Carolee (Hot Springs); his daughter and son-in-law, Ida and Ron Reighard (Butte); four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
