SARAH STURM
POLSON -- Sarah Richwine Sturm, 89, died on Feb. 28, 2004, at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan. She was born to Elmer and Susie Richwine at Medicine Lake on July 14, 1914. She received her elementary education in Sheridan County. She graduated from Medicine Lake High School in 1931. She attended college in Dillon and received her teaching certificate. She taught five years in eastern Montana before moving with her family to Polson, where she taught at Valley View for 13 years. In 1940, she married LeRoy "Bud" Sturm. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband six brothers and one grandson. She is survived by three sons, Edward (Spokane), Wayne (Seeley Lake) and Roy (Polson); one daughter, Sylvia Vandeberg (Polson); four grandsons; five granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Enoch Richwine (Polson); and a sister, Jane Hall (DesMoines, WA). A memorial service was held on March 4 in Polson. Inurnment took place at Lakeview Cemetery.

NORMAN SUNDLAND
POLSON -- Norman K. Sundland, 57, died on Feb. 8, 2004, at his home here. He was born May 22, 1946, in Chicago to Thomas and Jean Sundland.
Norman was called to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He moved to Montana in 1990. Survivors include his brothers, Thomas (Ocala, FL) and the Rev. Mitred Archpriest Raymond (South Plainfield, NJ); and sisters Louann (Hudson, FL) and Doris Miskiv (Clinton).
Services will be held at a later date at the Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery in Helena.

DELORIS ANGERMEYR
RONAN -- Deloris Ann Angermeyr died on March 31, 2004, at the St. Luke Nursing Home here. Deloris was born Nov. 23, 1915, to Rudolph and Marie Wentura in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from the Univ. of Minnesota at Morris. She spent her college summers working as a waitress in the hotel lodges of Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. She and George "Bud" Angermeyr were married on June 11, 1941. She spent many years teaching in elementary schools, while also being a farm wife and mother. She retired in 1978 and moved to Montana. In 1980, at the age of 64, she joined the Peace Corps and traveled to the Philippines to spend two years teaching English Filipino children. Returning to Montana in 1982, she volunteered with the reading program at the Cherry Valley School in Polson. She loved acquiring knowledge and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed fiber crafts. Deloris was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Dorothy Gray. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Robb (Liberty, MO) and Anne Angermeyr (Bozeman); and one sister, Lois Anderson (Burnsville, MN). A community memorial service will be held at a later time. Her ashes will be scattered over Flathead Lake. Memorials may be sent to the Deloris Angermeyr Scholarship Fund, in care of Polson Dollars for Scholars, Attn: Emily Peck, Polson High School, 111 Fourth Ave. E., Polson, MT 59860.

KIT BILLINGSLEY
ST. IGNATIUS -- Christopher 'Kit' Billingsley died at his home here on March 17, 2004.He was born on Aug. 4, 1950, in Santa Monica, CA.He had been a resident of St. Ignatius for the last 15 years.He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Shaw and Glen Billingsley. He is survived by his wife, Kristen (St. Ignatius); a son Christophor (La Habra, CA); and a daughter, Noelani (Port Townsend, WA).He will also be sorely missed by his canine "kids," Lucy, Rocky and Lulu.A private memorial will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lake County Hospice.

LEO J. BOWLDEN
POLSON -- Leo J. Bowlden, 76, died on March 19, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital here. He was born on Dec. 14, 1927, to Thomas and Emma Bowlden in Gannett, ID. Leo had lived in Polson the past few years. No services are planned.

ELSIE BRISTOL
ST. IGNATIUS -- Elsie Bristol, 92, of St. Ignatius, died of congestive heart failure on March 25, 2004, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Elsie was born on Oct. 31, 1911, in Lewistown, the daughter of Swedish immigrants, Axel and Elsie (Johnson) Anderson. After graduating from Fergus County High School, she married William Wilson Bristol in Livingston on June 21, 1931. In 1933, they moved to the Mission Valley, where they raised their family. She resided there until her death. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Harold and George Anderson; an infant son, Allen; and became a Gold Star mother with the loss of a son, Clarence, in the Vietnam War. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and Eva Bristol (Pullman, WA), William and Rose Bristol (St. Ignatius), and Bob and Pat Bristol (Ronan); two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Tom Delaney (Missoula) and Karen and Ron Krantz (Ronan); 15 grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Jean Anderson (Helena) and Charles and Lois Anderson (Brunswick, ME); a special friend, Patricia Bristol (Missoula); 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins in Sweden. Funeral services were held on March 27 in St. Ignatius.

LOUISE BURKE
POLSON -- Louise Marie Caye Burke died in her home in Dayton on March 11, 2004. She was born on March 5, 1932, in Elmo, to Lucy Auld Caye and Francois Mayuk Caye. Her mother died in 1935 and her father died in 1937, so she was raised by her grandparents, Ann Mary Auld Abraham and Peter Paul Abraham in Elmo. Louise had nine brothers and sisters. She married Dennis Burke in 1948; they divorced in 1965. She had her two youngest children with Tyrone Edwin Gopher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; three brothers, Abraham, Edward, Louis; three sisters, Josephine, Felicite, and Sarah; and her son, William Keith Burke. She is survived by a brother, Albert Caye; her children and their spouses: Clifford Burke (Shannon) of Ronan, Clarissa Nichols of Elmo, Clarinda Burke of Big Arm, Francis Burke (Lois) of Ronan, Marcella Roth of Elmo, Glenda Burke of Elmo, Michael Burke (Michelle) of Polson, Marlin Burke (Tracy) of Big Arm, Wilma Burke of Elmo, Tyrone Burke (Weemus) of Dayton and Rueben Burke (Karesa) of Dayton. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, beading, needle crafts, visiting and holidays. She loved to visit the lands of her ancestors in West Fisher, Buck Horn and Bonners Ferry, where she camped, picked huckleberries and played stickgame. She attended school at Ursulines Indian Boarding School in St. Ignatius through the eighth grade. After school, she did seasonal work until she began working for the Salish-Kootenai Tribes at various capacities, beginning in 1964. She started for the SETA Program and then worked for the Northwest Labs and the Culture Program. She was an associate tribal judge for 21 years and Chief Judge for the last nine years. She was an alumni of the National Judicial College, and a member of the Montana-Wyoming Judges Assoc., National Indian Court Judges Assoc., Northwest Tribal Judges Assoc. and the National Justice Indian Center. She also served on several boards and committees. She holds an honorary bachelor's degree from Salish Kootenai College. Services began on March 12 at the Elmo Hall. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on March 13. Burial followed at the Dayton Cemetery.

P. KEITH GREGG
Dr. P. Keith Gregg, 77, of Oak Park, IL (formally of Ronan), died on March 31, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenore Von Segan Gregg and Oliver P. (Nip) Gregg. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois (nee Darlington); his children and their spouses, Sharon and Charles Gregg (Detroit, MI), Gail Gregg (Cleveland, OH), and Jim and Joan Gregg (Cut Bank); a brother, Robin Gregg (Redwood City, CA); a sister and her husband, Vonnie and Dennis Webster (Ronan); and six grandchildren. Keith was a teacher, coach and administrator during the '50s and '60s. He retired from Chicago State Univ., where he was an instructor in the early 1990s. He and Lois spent May to October at the family's home near Dayton for the past several years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held in Montana later this summer.

LAVERNE HEWANKORN SR.
RONAN -- LaVerne Charles Hewankorn Sr., 53, of Pablo, died of heart disease on March 8, 2004, at St. Luke Community Hospital here. He was born on July 24, 1950, at Walla Walla, WA, to Charles and Alice Finley Hewankorn. He grew up in Hot Springs and attended schools in Hot Springs and Polson and at the Ursulines' in St. Ignatius. He graduated from high school in Pullman, WA, and attended Washington State Univ. and Missoula Vo-Tech Building Trades. He married Judy Gray; they later divorced. He worked as a plumber, welder, woods worker and carpenter and had been employed by the Tribal Maintenance Program. LaVerne liked stickgames, bingo and the outdoors. He was in line as descendant chief for the Kootenai Tribe. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his sister, Linda Rae. He is survived by his children, Wenonah Neuman (Evaro), LaVerne Jr. (Polson), Judy (Polson), Maggie(Polson) and Matthew Peone (Desmet, ID); three grandchildren; his mother (Niarada); brothers Leland (Polson) and Levi (Pablo); sisters Charlotte (Polson) and Rosalee Roberson (Florida); aunts and uncles; long-time partner and friend, Candy Abraham; and numerous other relatives. Wake services began on March 9 in the Elmo Hall. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on March 11. Burial followed at Dayton Cemetery.
