Bonnie Jean "Pie" Hove

Bonnie Jean "Pie" Hove, 84, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 14, 2005. Bonnie was born December 14, 1920 in Wilco, MS to Benjamin Claiborne Harrell and Lillie Quevas Harrell, and was the third of five children. Bonnie's father was a timber foreman and her mother ran a boarding house. Bonnie was very close to her father who called her "Sugar Pie." The nickname "Sugar Pie" soon became shortened to "Pie," which is the name that friends and family fondly referred to Bonnie throughout her life.

Pie had many wonderful stories about growing up in the south. She was a talented acrobatic dancer and once won a Charleston contest with her cousin Buelah.

After graduating high school from Kentwood, LA, Pie went to work for her brother as a bookkeeper at his sawmill in Hazelhurst, MS. While working in Hazelhurst, Pie's sister, Lillie Mae, set Bonnie up on a blind date with a serviceman stationed at nearby Biloxi, MS. The serviceman was Harold R. Hove, whom she married July 16, 1944 in the parsonage of the Lutheran Church in Westby, MT.

To the marriage was born four children, David Richard (deceased soon after birth), John Edward, Kathleen Karen, and Becky Ann. Pie resided with her family in Westby until Harold's death in 1996. She then moved to the Pioneer Manor in Plentywood, MT. where she resided until her own death. Although Pie lived in Montana for 60 of her 84 years, she retained her southern accent, an endearing characteristic to those that knew and loved her.

Pie had a close relationship with God and generously shared her faith with many. Her unique outlook on life was an inspiration to those that knew her. Pie will be remembered by her family and friends for her endless and selfless love, her wise advice, her delicious cooking and her positive attitude towards life's many adventures. She was a role model to us all in her courageous battle with cancer.

Pie is survived by her two brothers, Hollis Harrell, Hazelhurst, MS. and James Harrell, Kentwood, LA, her children John (Arlene) Hove, Westby, MT, Kathleen (Tom) Wankel, Miles City, MT and Becky (Dave) Sweat, Broadus, MT.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Fulkerson's funeral home, Plentywood, MT followed by Funeral services Friday at 10:00 am, August 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westby, MT.
