Graduated from Manhattan High School & lived his life in the Gallatin Valley. Worked for the Manhattan Elevator & Northern Pacific Railroad in Logan, the CA Ranch, & as police chief of Manhattan &local brand inspector 1973 -1986, chute boss for MRA rodeos, Mike Quinn rodeo producer & supporter of the Three Forks Rodeo. 50 year member of Manhattan Masonic Lodge #59. Wife, Fuss, living. Son & daughter in law, Butch & Kathy Damuth. Daughter & son in law Sally & Howard Watson, all of Logan. Daughter in law Sandie Damuth of Linch, Wyo. Nephew & wife Allen & Jane Damuth of Townsend. 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren & numerous cousins, nephews & nieces. Son, Dean, infant daughter & brother Leo (all deceased). Services Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Masonic Lodge.

Dundas, B. Jean, 2-23-1998

69 years old, of Three Forks. Died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. Born in Denison, Iowa, April 1, 1928. Parents: Howard and Bess (Martin) McAllister. Grew up in San Diego, Calif. married James S. Dundas May 16, 1945. Lived Manhattan Radersburg, MT area. Moved to Three Forks in 1964. Worked as an LPN at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital & Montana Development Center in Boulder. Member Three Forks United Methodist Church, Blue Bell Rebekah Lodge #52 of Radersburg & Progress Rebekah Lodge #74 of Three Forks. Daughters Dorothy Dundas of Three Forks, & Patricia Lane & husband Marvin of Hungry Horse. Son James Dundas & wife Donna of Three Forks. 3 grandchildren. 3 great grandchildren. 2 brothers: James McAllister of San Diego, Calif. & Jerry McAllister of Hungry Horse. Sister: Mary Martinez of San Diego. Husband, brother William McAllister & grandson, James Lane all deceased. Services Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, at 2 p.m. in K&L Mortuary Chapel in Three Forks. Rev. Lyle Hamilton officiating along with the Progress Rebekah Lodge #74 of Three Forks. Mount Green Cemetery in Willow Creek.

Fadess, Ruth M., 8-4-1996

Died June 29, 1996, in St. Peter's Community Hospital in Helena. Born March 11, 1924, in Clyde Park. Parents: Roy and Eunice (Bartell) Burns. Attended grade school in Sedan, a small country school near Wilsall. Attended college in Bozeman. married Mylo Fadness September 16, 1944, in Townsend. Worked as an L.P.N. at Montana Development Center in Boulder 1958 - death. Member of United Methodist Church in Boulder. 4 brothers: Bob Burns, Scottie Burns, Clarence Burns & Henry Burns (all deceased). Husband, Mylo, of Boulder, still living. Son, M. Dale Fadness, of Malta. Son & daughter in law LeRoy & Sandy Fadness, of Boulder. Daughter Lynda Talkington of Choteau. Daughter & son in law, Marilyn & Roger Williams, of Kalispell. Brothers Wes Burns, of Belgrade, & Bruce Burns, of Albany, Calif. Sister, Dorothy Ackerman, of Bozeman. 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services and burial July 3, 1996, in Boulder.

Glisan, Russell J., 1-20-1997

Died Friday evening, Jan., 17, 1997, at Rocky Mountain Care Center. Born March 13, 1911, at Canton, Miss. Parents: Fredrick E. & Mary Estelle (DeVilbiss) Glisan. Lived at Canton &worked with father on the family farm. In 1936, Russ and a close friend, Harold White, left Missouri and drove to Townsend in a Model T Ford, arriving there on Easter Sunday. He was hired that morning on the church steps by his future father in law, Frank Wieferich, to work on his cattle ranch in the Canton Valley. Held other jobs in the Helena and Townsend. married: June 28, 1941, to Frances Wieferich in Townsend. Enlisted in Navy August 1942 & stationed in Pearl Harbor & honorably discharged September 1945. Bought a small ranch near Manhattan. 3 daughters. May 1965, family moved to the Helena Valley near the Masonic Home. Worked at Carroll College in Maintenance Department. Worked at Hillbrook Nursing Home for short time. 2 daughters and sons in law, Kristie and Jimmy LaValley, Highlands Ranch, Colo., & Karen and Dick Bourquin, Helena. 4 grandsons and a granddaughter, Mike Bourquin, Helena, Tom & Deborah Butler, Boulder, Brandon & Sean LaValley, Pryor, Oklahoma. 1 great grandson, Seth Bourquin, Helena. Sister, Marie Finefield, Little Rock, 2 sisters in law, Dorothy Glisan & Minnie Jo Glisan, Quincy, Ill. Several nieces & nephews. Sister, Dorothy Klingele (deceased) brothers, Fred Glisan & Jack Glisan (deceased), daughter Sharon Butler (deceased). Services Tuesday, January 21, 1997, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church,1502 Shirley Road. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.

Hargrove, Annie M., 6-7-1997

87 years old of Bozeman. Died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Gallatin Rest Home. Born Aug. 29, 1909, in Murdo, S.D. Parents: Charles Fremont & Lena Beatrice Campbell. Grew up on homestead on Pryor Creek southeast of Billings & attended Indian Arrow School. married John Paul Hargrove July 29, 1937, in Townsend. Lived in Huntley many years. After John's death, moved to Belgrade. Family operated the Parkview Cabins Motel in Silver Gate for many years. Member of the Eastern Star Chapter of Worden & Belgrade Chapter. Brothers: Earl and John (deceased). Daughter and son in law, JoAnn and Cal Murray of Belgrade. Son and daughter in law, Dick and Nancy of Bozeman. Son: Wesley of Billings. Granddaughter, Bonnie Sue Hargrove Linseth & her husband, Mike of Salt Lake City. Grandsons: Mitch Murray and wife, Jill of Bridgeport, Texas, & Dan Murray of Portland, Ore. Great granddaughter: Brooke Raelynn Murray of Bridgeport, Texas. Sister: Dema Cooper of Helena. Niece: Thelma Cooper of Helena. Nephew: Robert Cooper of Billings. Cousins in Iowa. Graveside service 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings.

Higgins, "Bill" R., 10-29-1996

64 years old. Died: Oct. 26, 1996, at winter home in St. George, Utah, after a long illness of kidney failure. Born Nov. 16, 1931 at White Sulphur Springs. Parents: Walter Morton and Mary Agnes Fowlie Higgins. Graduated from Bozeman High School & attended Montana State University. married: Corinne Campbell on July 2, 1951, in Bozeman. Ranched near Ringling & Townsend on their 51 Ranch. Religion: Presbyterian. Member Algeria Shrine, Helena, Livingston Lodge No. 32 A.F.&A.M., Livingston & Martha Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star, White Sulphur Springs. Worked on the rodeo for Broadwater and Meagher Counties. Wife, Corinne, died on July 15, 1994. Father, Walter Higgins, deceased. Mother, Mary Higgins of Bozeman living. Daughters, Terri (Bob) Goggins of Townsend & Cindy Galt of St. George, Utah. 4 brothers, George (Pauline) Higgins of Newark, Del., Don (Helen) Higgins of Golden Hill, Ore., Jim (Geri) Higgins of Ringling, & Gerry (Ella) Higgins of Bozeman. Granddaughter, Coralee Goggins of Townsend. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Connors Funeral Home, 212 Broadway, Townsend. Rev. Rob Gohl officiates. Pallbearers: David Brewer, Jack Galt, Dick Morgan, Bob Masolo, Al Kimpton and Frank McArthur. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Galt, Brian Hilton & Cliff Olson. Deep Creek Cemetery in Townsend.

Holling, Charles Spencer, 12-4-1997

67 years old, fire chief of Townsend, died of a heart attack on Monday, Dec. 1, at his home. Services 2 p.m. Friday in the Broadwater High School gym, Pastor: Mike Wenzel of Faith Baptist Church. Connors Funeral Home of Townsend.

Karp, Sam, 11-10-1996

83 years old. Died: Friday, Nov. 8, at the Bozeman Care Center of natural causes. Born Nov. 17, 1912, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Parents: John & Trintje (Sikkinga) Karp. Family came to Gallatin Valley when Sam was 7. Attended Manhattan Christian High School. Worked on family farm. married: Aug. 14, 1932, to Anne Dykman at Churchill. Lived in Harrison until 1944, then returned to Manhattan area. Farmed until 1968. Moved to California for 12 years & returned in 1980. Worked for the U.S. Forest Service until retirement in 1984. Daughter & son in law Patricia & Lloyd Ligtenberg of Bozeman. Son & daughter in law John & Barbara Karp of Boise, Idaho. Grandchildren & spouses Bruce & Susan Ligtenberg of Denver, Colo., Brent & Patty Ligtenberg of Belgrade, Brian & Julie Ligtenberg of Bozeman, Denise & Tom Kimm of Manhattan, Carrie Thompson & Wendy Karp of Boise, Sam & Brandy Karp of Boise, Tasha & Duke Clinton of Moscow, Idaho, Rob & Debra Karp of Lansing, Mich., Vincent & Grace Karp of Townsend, Justin & Jolyn Karp of Helena, & Meta Karp of Boise. 18 great grandchildren. 2 sisters, 1 brother & 1 great grandson all deceased. 83 years old, of Polson, formerly of Manhattan and Toston. Died of natural causes March 31, 1998, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.Sister, Jessie Mae Oyler of Manhattan. 74 years old, of Bozeman. Died at Bozeman Care Center Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997. Native of Bozeman. Born: March 5, 1922. Parents: Hans Henry and Elizabeth Beckman Kober. Graduated Manhattan High School in 1941. US Army 1943 - 1945. married Dorthea "Betty" Oct. 19, 1968, in Bozeman. Member of the V.F.W. in Bozeman, Gallatin Valley Snowmobile Association, and Teamsters Union. Worked at Bon Ton Bakery, Gardner Sand & Gravel and Figgins Sand & Gravel. 3 sons, Ricky Kober of California, John Woodland of Belgrade and Donald Woodland of Bozeman. 4 daughters, Karen "Kay" Buck of Spokane, Wash., Sherry Staudinger of Bozeman, Karen Tertelgte of Columbus, Gayle DeDycker of Bozeman. Sister: Edna Hensley of Townsend. Brother: Lester Kober of California. 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Memorial 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at home of Jerry and Doris Kober, 409 W. Villard St., Bozeman. Cremation at Dahl Funeral Chapel.

Lacotta, John Joseph, 11-19-1997

64 years old, of Oxbow Bend, Stageline Flats near Townsend, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. Born May 15, 1933, in Binnstown, Pa. Parents: Mary C. (Morino) Lacotta of Binnstown and the late John J. Lacotta. married Joretta E. (Phillabaum) Lacotta (still living) in Brownsville, Pa., Feb. 11, 1953. Daughters and sons in law: Joretta & Corey Ardesson of Bozeman, Wendy Jo & James Lancaster of Townsend. Sons daughters in law: Dean & Diana Lacotta of Price, Utah, John & Delores Lacotta of Binnstown, Pa., Chris & Sue Lacotta of Bozeman, Tim & Alice Lacotta of Three Forks, Brian & Brenda Lacotta of Price, Utah. 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Le Febre, John D., 6-2-1998

93 years old, of Jenison, Mich. Died Thursday, May 14, 1998, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Born in Grand Rapids on March 5, 1905. 1920 moved with parents to Manhattan, where they owned and operated General Stores in Churchill and later in Amsterdam. married Cena TeHennepe in 1928. 1928 bought Amsterdam Store from father & operated it until 1946. Bought a dry land grain farm between Three Forks and Toston and farmed until 1973. Board member Manhattan Christian School & very active in Republican party & Gallatin County Farm Bureau. Moved to Jenison, Mich., in 1975. Wife is living. Children: Marian (Kimm) Le Febre, Marilyn & Henry Flikkema, Don & Meribeth Le Febre, Millie & Stan Zeinstra, Lee & Betty Le Febre, Linda & Clarence Sterenberg, Larry & Esther Le Febre, Geof Van Egmond. 28 grandchildren & 46 great grandchildren. Brother, Arnold & Henrietta Le Febre of Lodgepole, S.D. Sister in law Frances Le Febre (Harold). Sister in law, Gertrude Van Dyken. Several nieces and nephews. Sons, John Gary, his daughter, Kathy Van Egmond, & 4 grandchildren, all deceased. Services Monday, May 18, at the Twelfth Avenue Christian Reformed Church in Jenison, Mich. Rev. Henry C. Van Wyk and the Rev. Henry Erfmeyer officiating. Georgetown Township Cemetery.
