Meredith Ann Molkjer

Meredith Ann Molkjer, 54, a record management specialist, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Benefis East Hospital in Great Falls due to a stroke.

Cremation has taken place. The celebration of her life service will be held July 24, 2003, before her ashes are laid to rest on her fathers farm south of Chinook. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is handling the arrangements.

Meredith was born on Nov. 18, 1948, in Havre to Nels and Eloise (Farrell) Molkjer. She graduated from Harlem High School in 1966 and from Northern Montana College with an associates degree in agriculture and a bachelors degree in business technology in 1983. During her life, she has been a resident mostly of Harlem, Chinook, Havre, Great Falls and Helena. Helena was her home at the time of her death.

In 1970, she married Roger Henry St. Pierre Sr. and they later divorced. She worked very hard all of her life, and at the time of her death, she was working for the EPA Superfund Records Center in Helena. She had also worked as a resident manager for Eastgate Apartments, Herbergers, Best Friends Animal Hospital, Bureau of Land Management and Farmers Home Administration.

Her hobbies included sewing, quilts, reading books, her M&M; collection, doing anything and everything for the people she loved and came in contact with, horse racing, flowers, concerts, being organized, spending time with and holding all the little ones that came to visit her and visiting her friends and family.

She was a woman that touched and blessed many lives and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, LaCrissa (St. Pierre) and husband Craig Johnson of Havre; son Stacy (Georette) Cole of Harlem; grandsons Thomas Johnson of Havre, Bradley Cole of Harlem, ; brother Arthur (Gina) Molkjer of Somers; sisters, Sharleen (Andy) Cole of Hays-Lodgepole: Myla Cole of Great Falls; and three sons she could call her own, Voyd St. Pierre, Nathan St. Pierre, and Roger St. Pierre Jr., she is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, the St. Pierre family and the numerous friends she met along the way in her life. Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Eloise Molkjer and son Guy Lynn St. Pierre.

Louise Elizabeth Ryan Goodman

Louise Elizabeth Ryan Goodman, 91, completed her earthly journey May 24, 2003, and quietly went to be with the Lord after suffering a heart attack the previous evening. Her journey took her from a humble homestead near Springdale, Mont., to classroom teacher in several Montana communities and to the church parsonage as the wife of a minister.

Louise was born Nov. 11, 1911, in Bozeman to Robert A. and Elsie B. Ryan. She loved to write her birthdate, 11/11/11, and add that she was born at 11 a.m. Her family moved from the homestead to Big Timber where Louise completed her high school education. She enrolled in Montana Normal School, later to become Eastern Montana College, and was granted a lifetime teaching certificate after a two-year course of study. She taught in and around Big Timber for six years. Later, she would return to college and complete her bachelors degree from Eastern in 1970.

In 1937, Louise married Earl W. Goodman, an aspiring preacher born in Kansas, and they moved to Los Angeles while her husband completed his ministerial studies. After graduation, their ministry took them to Minnesota and Kansas before returning to Montana, where they served congregations in Hardin, Bridger, Billings and Butte. Earl then became district superintendent for the Assemblies of God in Montana for 14 years, an office he held until his death in 1970. Louise was actively involved in ministry herself as a director of Womens Ministries in the state.

Louise and Earl raised three sons, Robert Earl, Columbia Falls, Paul D. and Earl W. Jr., both of Billings. The sons and their spouses contributed nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren to the family tree.

Upon the death of her husband, Louise went back to teaching school in Great Falls until her retirement in 1976. Thereafter, she moved to Helena for 13 years and in 1989, moved to Billings. She remained active in church work, always willing to lend a hand making a quilt for a needy family, cooking and serving meals, and being a blessing to others. Her last move was to St. Johns Lutheran Home where she found many friends and a great staff of caregivers.

preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Ryan in 1976; and a sister, Viola Makay in 1996, Louise is survived by a sister, Bonnie Vork of Seattle; and a brother, Raymond Ryan of Big Sky.

Louise also is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Robert (Orlynda), of Columbia Falls, Paul (Floral) of Billings, and Earl (Linda) of Billings. Her nine grandchildren include Loralyn Goodman, Billings, Paul Jr. (Kimberly), Hungry Horse, Rob (Michele), Columbia Falls, Ron (Lisa), Circle, Amy, Brian and Christy Goodman, Seattle, Jonathan Anderson, Helena and Tammi Rowlan, Phoenix.

The life of Louise Goodman touched many people for good in her 91 years, and she will be remembered for her devotion to God and unselfish love of others. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Parkhill Assembly of God, Billings, with Rev. Robert Fox officiating. Graveside services will precede the memorial service at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, at the Big Timber cemetery, with Rev. Don Baker officiating. Viewing will be at Smiths West Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials will be given to Glacier Bible Camp and may be sent to 2147 Overland Ave., Billings, MT 59102.

Jeannette Claire Rocklein Bender

Jeannette Claire Rocklein Bender, age 65, of Townsend, died May 19, 2003, at her home in Palmetto, Fla., of cancer.

She was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., to Joseph and Claire Rocklein.

Her funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Palmetto. Covell Cremation & Funeral Center of Bradenton, Fla., is in care of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Keith P. Bender of Palmetto; daughters Linda Ingram and Catherine M. Morehead, a son, Steven Bender; sisters Claire Brown, Dolores Adams Marion Lucas; Joseph Rocklein Jr., David Rocklein, all of Florida, and Timothy Rocklein of Georgia; mother Claire Rocklein; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 4151 37th St. E. Palmetto, FL 34221 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.

Opal M. Baus

Opal M. Baus of Helena passed away on May 27, 2003, in Helena.

She was born in Great Falls, where she lived until moving to Baltimore, Md., with her husband, Wayne, of 48 years. Opal was a faithful Christian and a member of the Fortress of Joy Church in Helena; and was very active in the 180 Youth Group Project at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Baus; and one daughter, Laura Baus, both of Helena; one sister, Deloris Brown of Great Falls; and four brothers, Donald Schuff of Great Falls, Gene Schuff of Riverside, Calif., Leonard Schuff of Billings and Larry Schuff of Wheatridge, Colo.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at the Fortress of Joy Church, 720 Faw Rd., Helena, MT 442-1819. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests that donations be made to the church listed above to help finance the 180 Youth Bldg. Helena Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Diane Davis

Ruth Diane (Giles) Davis, age 57, a bank teller, of Helena, died May 25, 2003, from heart failure at a local hospital.

She is survived by her partner, Bill Moore of Helena.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Cremation will take place. Arrangements are under the direction of OConnor Funeral Home.

Edward Vincent Eve Sr.

Edward Vincent Eve Sr., of Helena died unexpectedly Sunday morning, May 25, 2003, at home.

Ed was born in Great Falls on Aug. 23, 1946. He graduated from Carroll College with a degree in business administration in 1969. He and his wife, Terri, married the same year at St. Helena Cathedral and had three children. During his professional career, Ed worked for businesses throughout Montana, including Hendrickson Byrd, Helena, in the 1970s and First Trust, Billings, in the 1980s. In 1987 he started his own consulting business, which he continued for a number of years.

Ed was devoted to family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them above all else. He had a real love for the Montana outdoors, including golfing, hunting, camping and hiking in the wilderness. He spent endless hours working on automobile projects with his sons. He always made time to help friends and strangers in need. He felt blessed to have spent 34 years married to his wonderful wife.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lorena Eve, and sister Margo.

He is survived by his wife, Terri, daughter Jackie and her daughter, Bailey, of Rochester, Minn.; son Eddie and his son Jack of San Antonio, Texas, and son Colin of Denver; siblings Joan and Leo Kimmet of Billings, Jean and Mary Ellen Eve of Great Falls, Donna and Bob Thorsen of Holly, Colo., Phil and Lonnie Eve of Great Falls, Paul and Rosie Eve of Tucson, Ariz., Eileen and Dan Welsh of Fort Peck, Allan and Norma Eve of Richland, Wash., and Bob and Jane Eve of Lolo.

Visitation will begin at noon today, May 29, at Retz Funeral Home. A vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 30 at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Interment will follow at Resurrection cemetery.

Daniel Lynn Pelletier

Daniel Lynn Pelletier, 46, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Helena, died May 25, 2003, of heart failure due to complications of diabetes.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at sundown at the Aldine Funeral Chapel, 4504 Airline Drive, Houston.

Daniel graduated from Capital High School in 1975. Helenans will best remember him for his contributing efforts to victories for Capital High School in both track and crosscountry at divisional and state meets in the mid 1970s.

Daniel married Leah Jean Long on Jan. 28, 1978, in Helena. They made their home in Helena prior to moving to Houston early in the 1980s.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Leah Jean, and children, Christopher (Michelle) Pelletier, Tyler (Munhui) Pelletier, and Missti (Jorge) Barrera, all of Houston; two granddaughters; siblings Jeannie (Jack) Kindt of Butte, Kathy Dagel of Las Vegas, Priscilla (Lee) Tickel of Renton, Wash., Carolyn Pelletier of Helena, and Raymond Pelletier of Helena; sister-in-law, Nancy Pelletier of Las Vegas and Sharon Pelletier of Helena.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lorain, mother-in-law, Winifred, brother David, and two infant granddaughters, Bridgette and Paige.

Leah Jean would like to share her special memories of Daniel through the following:

"To walk in Gods truth and integrity by the Holy Spirit is something Daniel sought after. He loved Abba Father first in his life, and in his walk with God he learned to show how much he loved me. He was my best friend, my love, my life. We were as one. And finally he loved his children, their spouses and their children. He walked with God until he walked no more."

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Helena.

John Francis Patten

John Francis Patten died Saturday, May 24, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family at St. Peters Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1939, to Dolores and George Patten in Salt Lake City. After graduating from high school, John served four years with the U.S. Navy. He then attended the University of Washington where he received a degree in meteorology. After university, John joined the National Weather Service, which brought him to Helena. Later, his love of flying led him to a long and rewarding aeronautical career.

John spent his leisure time traveling, camping, fishing and flying his 1957 Aeronca Champ. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and charmed all with his great sense of humor and warmth.

John is survived by his wife Corrine and their daughter Tricia and son Nicholas, all of Helena. He is also survived by his daughters Julie Kelly and Jill (Bert) Gailushas, both of Helena. Surviving grandchildren are Erynn and Evan Kelly and Chantelle Gailushas, all of Helena. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Dee and Tim Dillon of Colorado, and his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Kay Patten and their children Kristi and Michael, all of California. John was also very close to and will be remembered by his wifes parents, Pat and Ken Bolland of Helena, her three sisters and their families.

Johns life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Helena. Memorials in Johns name can be made to the Cancer Treatment Center or Hospice of St. Peters, both at 2525 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.

Mary Sell

Mary Sell, 93, of Helena, died of natural causes Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Big Sky Nursing Home.

She was born the second of 11 children on May 14, 1910, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to George and Christina Breuer. As a young girl, she lived with her family on a homestead near Fife Lake, Saskatchewan. Speaking only German, Mary learned English and received her education at Diamond Stone School.

In 1936 she married Ernest (Ernie) Sell in Rock Glen, Saskatchewan, where they farmed for 13 years. Three sons were born before moving to Scobey in 1950. Ernie was elected sheriff of Daniels County in 1963 with Mary assisting as deputy for 14 years.

Marys three sons were involved in numerous sports in Scobey, which led Mary to receive the Sports Mother of the Year award for her 11 years of active support.

Mary was also an active member of her church, volunteering in the Ladies Aid Association.

She enjoyed farming with her husband, gardening, fishing and golfing.

In 1977 Ernie passed away and in 1979 Mary moved to Mesa, Ariz., where she made many new friends, who traveled with her to many places she had always wanted to visit. She also volunteered countless hours in the Womens Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. Fourteen years passed before ill health persuaded her to move to Helena to be near her family.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mary took great pleasure in her family and friends. She will be remembered for her keen memory, which allowed her to share many amazing stories of her life. Mary tackled many crossword puzzles, played a competitive game of cards and enjoyed a lively debate on many a topic. She constantly "whistled while she worked."

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ernie; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include three sons, Keith (Joan) Sell of Helena; Kevin (Sue) Sell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dwain (Gayle) Sell of Plymouth, Minn.; one brother and six sisters of Canada; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Scobey Lutheran Church in Scobey, with interment following at the Scobey cemetery.

Donald L. Beaudette

BOZEMAN - Donald L. Beaudette, 80, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away in Bozeman on May 25, 2003.

Don was born on Dec. 5, 1922, in Great Falls, to Rudolph and Verna (Pegg) Beaudette. He married Audrey Winstone in London, England, on Sept. 1, 1945. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1940. He worked in a flourmill and then moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he worked at Douglas Aircraft for the war effort. Don volunteered for service in the Army Air Force in 1942 and was stationed in the European Theatre as a control tower operator with the 101st Airborne Division.

After returning from the service during WWII Don attended the College of Great Falls, and Mortuary College in Cincinnati. He moved to Helena and worked for Hermann and Co. Funeral Home, then later for Hagler Mortuary before joining the Blue Shield staff. After working for 32 years operating the print shop at Blue Shield, he retired in 1984.

Don was a member of the Cathedral of St. Helena parish since 1948, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and various outdoor organizations.

He was passionate about hiking and led many hikes for the Montana Wilderness Association. He especially enjoyed hiking in Glacier Park with his wife, children and friends. He loved to run and was instrumental in organizing the first Governors Cup in Helena. He also had a deep passion for photography and art. Many have enjoyed his photography exhibits.

He married Mary Ingalls Brown in 1993 and together they enjoyed many years of travel, square dancing, hiking and visiting family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Verna Beaudette, and his sister Gloria Paul. He is survived by his wife Mary of Helena; son David Beaudette of Wenatchee, Wash.; daughters Donna (Dale) Clinton of Bozeman, Dee (Jim) Webster of Mercer Island, Wash., Debbie (Gerry) Albright of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Deanna (Jim) Largess of Bozeman;

Stepchildren, David (Margaret) Brown, Kathleen (James) Weaver, Paula (Eric) Weller, Stephen (Lauri) Brown, Mary Patricia (Jeffrey) King; sisters Bernice Quamen, Portland, OR, Rosemary (Fred) Setniker, Kaiser, Ore.; grandchildren Jennifer Clinton Fairchild, Conner Webster, Jaime Webster, 1st Lt. Jeremy Albright, Janelle Albright Thompson, Michael Largess, and Andrew Largess; step-grandchildren Daniel (Sarah) Brown, Mary Jennifer (Josh) McKay, Julie (Chris) Petre, Peter Brown, Andrew Brown, Jessica Brown, Wendy (Chris) Steinbeisser, Becky Weaver, Catherine Weaver, Amy (Lee) Hiestand, Shelbie Brown, Tyler (Amber Brown), Stephen M. Brown, Maxwell King, Samuel King, Dallas Lopez, and Chandra Lopez; great-grandchildren Jackson Albright and Jacob Albright; step-great grandchildren Kyla Kendall, Hannah Kendall, Grace Brown, Sydney Steinbeisser, Spencer Steinbeisser, Bryson Hiestand, Brady Hiestand, Taylor Brown, and Kelsie Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation will begin Wednesday at noon at Retz Funeral Home. A Vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Interment with military honors will follow at the Montana State Veterans cemetery at Fort Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association, Montana Chapter, 3010 11th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101.

Kathy Marie Bogard

Kathy Marie Bogard, age 46, of Jefferson City died May 25, 2003, at St. Peters Hospital.

Kathy was born Oct. 24, 1956, to Clifford Duane and Edith Marie (Sheridan) Shorten in Townsend. She attended high school in Boulder, Carroll College and College of Great Falls.

She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and nature walks. Children were her first love. Kathy was also an active member of AA for 18 years and made many, many friends.

She is survived by her husband John Bogard of Jefferson City; children Robin Otteson of Jefferson City, Bonny Wark of Naches, Wash., Robbie Roseland of Jefferson City, and Kathryn Bogard of Jefferson City; brothers Dave Shorten and Gary Shorten; and sister Luane (Kermit) Jones; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at Retz Funeral Home.
